"Call of Pripyat
exclusive preview from Gameplay magazine (5.2009)

The plot is starting few days after SoC final events - Strelok is turning the psy-antennas off, but too, being out of it for few days. In the meantime, all the stalker realized the possibilities and perspectives of the pass opening, rush there. Of course, the way is too thin for all the people, so factional conflicts raise again and all the place began to fill with corpses.

Unexpectedly, the military forces become more active too. News about the psy-emission source liquidation reach military headquarters, and so, the development of "Fairway" operation started. The whole point of it is search for the safe way deep into the Zone for sending heavy-armed troops there and establish full control over the place. But something goes terribly wrong, and all the helicopters sent for reconnaissance vanish.

As said in the old wisdom, probably the one scout can make it where the big group failed. So the HQ send one operative to the place to inquire about facts of the case, while being undercover as a stalker. But, well - why "undercover"? He's actually a stalker, just having an eye on Ministry of Defense pays, so - on the military side. His name is Alexander Degtyarev, and he will be the protagonist.

Our main task will be to find and investigate what happened to those five helicopters. You'll find some info while searching for each of them, and of course in result we'll reveal the inconceivable Mystery. But, of course, the developers won't say anything about it before the release

Alex arrived at the place a bit late - stalkers already settled there, opened the small Bar in the old rusty ship, used some houses around, revealed the nearest anomalies etc.

Only two small groups of Duty and Freedom reached the Backwater, so they concluded a temporal truce and organized a base in the old suiting building. It is divided in two parts - for each faction. Everyone agreed that this will be neutral territory where no one will shoot.

Of course, bandits appeared there too, searching for easy money. One of them, Sultan, smart bastard, started a mess trying to gain control all over the place. But he's not going to kill anyone in sight, so it's possible to work for him.

So, we have 3 factions available for interaction, working etc. It won't be possible to join one of them (because it'll ruin the possibility of visiting lots of places and bring way too much shooting against the aggressive faction stalkers into the game. But you can change the force balance, do various tasks, help faction you sympathize to dominate.

Of course, there won't be any infinite wars for control points! Everything is a lot more interesting. For example: the scientist camp lose mercenary guarding. You can give them an advice like "I know some guys from Freedom, they'll help you, no problem". For faction it'll be the new earning source, and you - will receive respect from faction members, good equipment etc. you need.

Duty members usually prefer the heavy armor assault rifles and machineguns, Freedom - to sniper weapons and light, but protected against the Zone dangers equipment, suiting for those who like to explore the Zone. Developers didn't revealed anything about bandits propensity, but we think it'll be shotguns. And, of course, all the dark side adepts will choose that faction

Weapon assortment will grow a bit. By the way, developers decided to give more attention on smooth-bore weapons, so, for example, you can find and use automatic barreled-magazine shotgun (model prototype is DOA-12). Whole weapon balance will be reworked for higher damage and a lot longer distances.

For players not to suffer while choosing between sniper rifle and machinegun, devs made both two weapon slots universal - for now you can put anything you want into them. Of course, if you want to be armed while using the detector, you'll need one-handed weapon like pistol, but their role on the late stages of the game will probably decrease - everyone will prefer more powerful weapon

Suits will be divided into torso part and helmet part, both with separate stats. This masterpice told me about politics, abuse of your own people, the system of illusion and falsehood, and the source of this trainload of worthless junk - The Illuminati and MJ12.
And the so called "Elit" a handful of "people" who keeps us in "blessed" ignorancy just to make them more and profits. We are SLAVES. We must realise this. But its not an easy way to get out of this. Simply because this weave of falsehood is more than 1000 years old. So its not easy i admit it. But it WILL worth it. I'm sure of that.

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl

This game is also mind opening, but in a different way. Deus ex told me what kind of system is this and how they use our own ignorancy against us.

Stalker is deeply spiritual. Yes. Many people looked strangly on me when i told them this.
This game is the second step in my opinion.
this game simply shows the true nature of illusions and falsehoods. And a little bit of karmic consequences.

This ending is not only highly artistic, serene and bright, it shows us what is it like to be a little enightened. lol Why do i think this? Simple really. Our names are not ours. It never was. Just like the player's name "Marked One" before he found his real name, strelok.
All of us must find our true names.

But we must not remember.. because if we know our true identity, we cease to excist as a consumer. If we stop being mindless consumers, our status as slaves for the ELITE will be destroyed. And we all know PROFIT is everything to those impotent assholes. WAR is PROFIT. IGNORANCY is a much GREATER profit. Ignorancy is the ROOT of EVERYTHING negative in this world. Everything.

Well my first impression was, if a horror game comes from the depths of Monolith productions.. then its the best "omfg its sick" material to me. lol


I'd like to say, that i'm not that type of girl whos scared of running skeletons or yummy zombies.lol
(Not that i'm such a brave type, just because those two are quite common in games.)

Playing a horror.. i mean a "good" horror game is kinda rare..at least to me.
Well i've played Clive Barker's Undying, then FEAR.. and now Condemned.

My humble opinion is, that Monolith's games where pretty damn SICK. (Well not the NOLF series, but those are still my favs.)

Condemned is the SICKEST game that i've ever played. I'm bloody goddamn serious. I'm impressed! this type of "sickness" is what i like in horror games!

Truth be told..i had a few "heartattacks" (three times lol) I was soo scared, my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. *laughs*

I think the sickest chapter was the abandoned shopping center. Lots of plastic mannequins...some of them are "alive" and they are ready to tear your head off your neck if you turn your back to them.


And not to mention the other type of "moving" mannequins...they are simply the ordinary ones.. but in a jiffy, they are misteriously all around you. They do nothing i guess. (Yea its a little thing i know, but i was soo fucking scared i ran far away and never looked back. Derwen the brave. lol)

*laughs*

And alot of tiny but fucking scary things i wont tell cos i'm such a good girl.

Monolith makes the strangest (and Valve of course) game endings.
Yip, i'm talking about FEAR and Condemned outros.
(of course..)Both of them ends like the X-files. lol I dont know nothing and it ends here...does the goodguys won? or lost?

I dont know what say other then this, but i just CANT stand these endings!
Well one thing for sure..this is a VERY VERY SICK stuff.

The one named: Cold War. yup.


My good old friend Malleus suggested me to play this game.
*cough* yes...he was right.. this game is one of the best stuff i've ever played.
Stealth action and some minimal rpg. THATS all what i want to see in a game.

The gameplay is really unique.

The Characters are more than well made.
Carter (the player) is such a "MacGyver" in my opinion..a crafted fellow. Lovely.
He can assemble mines outof can and ether flasks, and annoy Barinsky's henchman with a hand-made slingshot. and so on..

Gruskov is the "russian Sam Fisher" he earned my deep respect and love.
He's a very positive and well made character. (if someone can hadle my "trademark" weapon, the russian AK-47 so perfectly that guy definately earns my respect. lol)

Sonja: she's also a great char! Gotta love her accent..i have the same accent when i'm talking online with my friends. lol


Barinsky:
Now thats the-type-of-guy who i love to kill from time to time.
The evil one, the source of every bad thing what happenes in the game.
Barinsky is a stalinist asshole, who thinks perestrojka and glasnost suxx monkeyballz, so he wants to bring back the the good 'ole communism.
(i think his meds got rolled away..)
But at the end he fails, the good guys win, so Barinsky can kiss my ass.

The storyline is great!
The game is uniteing a bit of conspiracy theory and a fictional exlpanation of the 86' Cherobyl disaster. Very good mixture.

The graphics are very very well made. Lots of bump-mapping, realistic looking textures and effects.
The fire effect is the best i've seen so far. (made with prometheus maybe?)
and the surface reflections are also lovely. NOT every surface reflects the light, only the metal and some floor-types.

I really like this cos the current game's engines are about "techtrend-shiny-shitness" and NOTHING else. This brainless habit (or may i call it a trend??) makes me vomit plutonium!! I hate this with a passion.
Its like reading a book, just because the cover looks "awesome". *slaps herself*

So..Cold War is like a bit Splinter Cell 1, *sacral music and ray of light from above* Thief, Diablo2, and a little Half-life.

Why? I'll explain it:

Splinter Cell, *sacral music* because you have to sneak alot, by useing the shadows, minimal kills, and the weapon useage is the same like in Sc. (see: aiming.)

Thief, because of the sneaking and the cut-scene videos..i'm talking about those thief 1 and 2 videos, NOT the T3 vids!

RPG,(diablo2!) because you got a "skill-tree" like thingy, where you can use your tech-points (experiance points) to assemble certain gadgets, like the slingshot, AP bullets, and upgrade your x-ray camera and pistol. etc..

There are 4 different skills are:
1. the pistol:
Both passive and offensive skills, like in diablo2.
You can upgrade, make Ap or rubber bullets or assemble different ammunitons.

2. the slingshot:
(assemble the "weapon" itself and some very funny ammo.LOL)

3. mines:
Lethal and non-lethal mines (3 tech-levels are given 4 each mine types! ...awesome.)

4. The x-ray camera:
My fav "weapon" cos you can see throu walls (behaves like the SC thermal vision goggles.)
The x-ray cam comes with passive skills like longer range, faster accu recharge and so forth.
And another funny addition to the cam, is if you aim to someone's head, and "shoot", then you render the target unconscious. LOL Say cheeeese!! *clicks*
You can also blow up thigs (even a glass of vodka is a deadly weapon of napalm when exploding. lol) like fire extinguishers, trafo etc.
Of course you cant do this all the time, you need to find batteries for your cam.

the AI:
Well i like challenges, and i must say the AI pretty well made. Altho some of the old tactics are still effective, like the goold 'ole "door-killer" tactics.
If they see you, the enemy wont hesitate to kick your ass.
So you'd better hide or find cover, if your in shit allready.

The enemy got the eyes of an eagle and ears of the hound.
So its very easy to lure them and set up traps.
Also, you need to hide your traps, because if you dont, the enemy will notice it, and some of them will disable it. Veery cunning..

Another reality..when you knock or dope someone (hehe...dope lol) you need to "drug" them. Otherwise they will awake, and you have to start the hunt after that guy all over again. :/

This game is the pure example of my "Gameplay Über Alles" theory.

The cartoon itself will be very simple.
No fancy effects and shit like that.. All of the characters (includeing most of the moveing objects) will be hand drawn and painted by me.

But i dont wanna draw the background, (i always hated that stuff..lol boooreing..) so those are gonna be 100 percent HL2 screenshots or recorded gameplay footage.

It all started with a "simple" Xp crash. then restart, the Xp wont let me in 4 some reason (no HDD?!?!) restart again, unplugged the dead HDD (40Gb) then useing my other drive (20GB) i've started the win 2000 / volkov commander then copyed all of my stuff..then *poof* everything went black and silence.

......

restarted again and ALL of my unfinished, unpublished drawings where compleatly gone...

The agony....i've lost my all of my 14Gb of drawings...

Anyhoo ...1!! has survived the destruction. I'll post that one soon.

Well i played Deus Ex1 yesterday...i love that game!! it always reminds me of Blade Runner.
( Hmmmm....Harrison Ford...*drools* )

Anyway..this game is not-up-to-date. But that doesent means the graphics are crappy.

Still, many ppl belives if the game's graphic is bad (not techtrend!! as my good friend panny said) then the game is bad.

....4 crying out loud.....

Belive me...i saw ENOUGH SHITTY games with wonderful techtrend engine and graphics.

Yeah yeah...the graphics are important i agree.
But the gameplay, story ATMOSPHERE! CANNOT be replaced by the graphics engine all alone.

And the music...yes... well i'm a true old school metalhead...so i dont like the techno/rave kinda bullshit.
(i grew up on Iron Maiden, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash..)

And Amon Tobin...he's......brilliant..i love him!!!!*shivers*
i love his stuff...its a wonderful mix between dark ambient and elecrtonic jazz. Pure experimental music. *takes her hat off*


In techno, i hate when i hear nothing more than a blunt, mindless beat.....thats stupid.
Some ppl also said to me whats good, in listening to metal music,
cos there's alot of screaming/howling and this is sick.
Howling, screaming is an ancient way to express our feelings.
Howling can express joy, happyness, anger, and blind hate.
THIS is natural...not the mindless techno drumbeat bullshit.

Anyway..where was i?....oh yes.

Gameplay.

Deus Ex1 is WAAY BETTER than the current techtrend games.
Many games storyline is LINEAR.
Well...in Deus there's 4 different endings.

4!! different ways to "skin a cat" in EVERY levels (or maps whatevea..)
And this is where i mention Splinter Cel Chaos Theory.
the missions are AWESOME!! really...but TOO LINEAR!!
I know there's alot of secondery, and misc. objectives..
But Ubi...Ubi...that doesent means the mission is unlinear.
What i really wanna see in the next SC is a non-Linear storyline..
omg that would be goddamm awesome!!!

And one silly thing in SC Chaos Theory..

SAM IS A MORTAL 4 GOD SAKES!!.....he cannot hang/run and do all of his fancy deadly moves 4ever..
Instead the sound meter, Ubi should have added at least a fatigue/endurance indicator.

And a damage system...this thing was soo good in Deus Ex1!!!!
(wounded legs caused slow running...wounded arms caused crappy aiming...etc)

I CANNOT belive Sam can do all of his special moves while he's
2mm far from death.

Oh...and Sam's model...but thats another story...
