And, a Happy Halloween to everyone! Though not that widely celebrated here in Australia (we don't even have a holiday for it), it's still my favourite "holiday", anyway. So, here's the kick-off to another season of end-of-year celebrations - the Aussie silly season.

OK, so I got my Wacom Graphire4 recently and have been gradually getting the hang of it. Also, I realised the other day that 7/7/07 was looming up so why not do something about it (since 6/6/6 was quite a deal for some) and, at the same time, see what this Graphire baby can do .. the result being my take on the 4 apocalyptic dudes:

With little time to create the artpiece, I decided to tweak a past photo as backdrop; this beach is at Queensland's Sunshine Coast, ironically! Tweak = turn a cloudy but fine day into a dark angry one, equipped with lightning.

Problem * Ed. Problem was fixed (10 July 07) *
Though the art's up, dA's search can't pick it up yet - even if I search for "by:digifumaster", I get every other deviation of mine except this one. But, this is a known issue, as Helpdesk tells me, and is listed in the latest Bug Juice. Well, at least I'll know where to check for issues next time.

Also, is there no way to customize a deviation's thumbnail, e.g. to zoom in on the action more?

Handdragon Deviation & AFAE

Conan Creator's B'day

It's Happy Birthday to the late Robert E Howard! The creator of everyone's favorite barbarians, Conan, and the lesser known, Kull, would be 101 either today (23rd) or tomorrow. Well I don't need to go on about the Arnie movies but movie buffs know of / should note the little-known-but-totally-memorable The Whole Wide World about author Howard. His romantic interest is played wonderfully by Renée Zellweger and Howard's played by the equally effective Vincent D'Onofrio from Law & Order: Criminal Intent (hey, anyone remember him as Thor in Adventures in Babysitting also known as A Night on the Town?).

Countless authors have written of Conan since, but Howard's writing, including in-story poetry, have yet to be matched!

DigiFu.com

If you think the site name sounds like my username, it's purely unintentional! It's a cool & funny site, that's still being built-up, run by a group of upcoming filmmakers, with big potential. They have a number of funny & thought provoking vids if you wanna check'em out. Just a slight language warning for some of you.

I got in touch with Digifu.com after only recently realising their existence! They've been around longer than my use of DigiFuMaster, so I'd been feeling pretty stoopid & worried. They were gracious to say that our names were different enough for'em not to mind, and even wished me luck, here! So relieved & thankful to the co.!

Previous Journal Entry Highlights:

Have you taken part in The One Million Masterpiece? I joined it a month back and had a great time drawing my contribution on their online app. Pity I only have a mouse to do it with.. Oh well, you can see the full thing & everyone else's by clicking the banner above .. a lil' embarrassing to show but fun to make.

Donation's optional, but you'll be helping out worthy causes for the environment, wildlife, kids, illnesses, etc.

As of this writing, we have 183 days to add/change our piccies. Or you can just go there & be blown away by some stunning art & even ingenious animation; each art creation can be played back at hi speed & some artists have had fun with that aspect, too. Just check out the work of our fellow deviant, bananalicious to see exactly what I mean!..

Happy New Year, everyone!

Here I am wishing everyone a happy new year & I've just been reading Asimov stories from 1940s & 50s about robots in the future and watching a 1973 horror movie about a murderous creature from prehistoric times. Oh, I had my fun partyin', but that was last nite! Say, has anyone tried a watermelon vodka mix?

Well, I was relieved to finally finish & upload A Phoenix and a Gentleman and further relieved to find positive responses from some very cool fellow deviants! Yeah, it's related to Lady and the Dragon. And yeah, I've now got similar poetry to go with both deviations and it's no accident they both seem to be set in the same place. What they're exactly about is still fuzzy, but I've always been fascinated with stories of parallel worlds and a certain Michelle Pfeiffer movie called, 'Ladyhawke'..

Previous Journal Entry Highlights:

Well, I actually have something I wanna say.. There's currently what's stated to be an original painting done by fantasy master, Frank Frazetta, on eBay with an asking price of US$50,000. The artpiece's a prelimary rough to his Sea Witch, which can be seen on the cover of Wolfmother's debut album. What's more, the $50,000 prelim. on eBay's only roughly CD cover sized ! Kool'uh?!

eBay item no. 230064674948. And if you read this before 23/12/06, good luck on your bid !

Previous Journal Entry Highlights:

Been trying for ages in all sorts of ways to upload art to my gallery on a site (not DeviantART, Elfwood or any sites I've mentioned so far, and, I know, I want a finger in every pie, so to speak), but I keep getting a download error(!?!), instead. And, yet I notice plenty of other members having uploaded during this time.

On the upside, I got my hands on the international version of Wolfmother's self-titled debut - with limited edition collector cards! "So?", you may ask. Well, if you know Wolfmothers CD covers, they each have fantastical artwork. But, did you know they're art by Frank Frazetta (he's listed in my profile as my fave artist)! His art's what's on the collector cards. Oh, and the band & their music are simply superb, too!

Here goes my 2nd (ever) deviant journal entry..

As a fan of UK digital sci-fi/fantasy art mag, ImagineFX, I was thrilled when their website was properly established. It's got all the stuff you'd expect, incl. digi-arts news, reviews, tips, tutes & (probably to many) most important of all, a gallery for artists to upload & showcase their work (feel like I'm using deviantART's facilities to advertise for their competition, here ). Having said that, deviantART's of course still significantly more mature with more extensive facilities.

Hey, Mr Rucka & co. really know their Batman. No Man's Land is as non-campy-gritty as you'd hope of Batman. Gotta get hold of the graphic novels after this err novel novel. No, not a huge fan or I'd have those issues by now.

Bring out the champagne! (darn, where's the champagne emo when u wannit!)

Thought this might b good timing. I just setup an account on IllustratorWorld & threw on a few vector pics. Though, I feel like an outcast walkin' into a saloon, coz CorelDraw art's in minority in an Adobe Illustrator dominated world (hence, Illustratorworld.com). No, it should b cool .

Jason Brooks, whose well-known art's seen on Hed Kandi & Tokyo Project albums & various fashion mags, is an Illustrator/Photoshop user, too, according to his site. I don't think he's a Deviant but do a search on his name & you'll find plenty of fan-imitations & desktop art of his. Anywayz, I'm diggin' the 14 track 'Introduction' which has his artwork (hafta get hold of Tokyo Project's 3 disc 'The Collection').
