I went to a filming of Top Gear USA at the El Torro base in Irvine yesterday.

For starters, lets just say the hosts were not trying to be the 3 from the UK at all. They had their own personalities and ways of dealing with things, and they are in no way trying to replicate the three. But for a first season episode, it was clearly a lot better than the first season of original Top Gear. It was entertaining and watchable.

I'm busy changing the world of animation as we know it.

Also switching our studio ( www.shilo.tv ) from the archaic bullshit that is After Effects over to Nuke, which is a much better program. Came up with a shader system that will output all 30 of our standard render passes (normals, ambient occlusion, etc) with one click thanks to the help of a scripter at the studio. It automatically creates new materials for each object that has transparency and displacement and links up all the passes correctly, to preserve said transparency. And all those passes render out as a single EXR file, which is then extracted inside of Nuke.
