North Texas could benefit as the Plano-based maker of Dr Pepper parts ways from its British parent, with the soft drink company saying it plans to expand operations here.

...A research facility is under construction at the Plano headquarters and is set to open this summer ...also plans to expand operations in Irving, already home to a multi-product manufacturing plant that is one of the largest in the system. It will become a "pilot plant" to test concepts before deciding on a full rollout...

...The new company will have about 20,000 employees – including 15,000 added within the past two years from acquisitions. Nearly 2,300 of the workers are in North Texas.

As of Dec. 31, the company had 21 manufacturing plants and about 200 distribution centers in the United States.

Oh wait. We didn't have one. Illusion has pointed out the fact that we are lacking a club avatar. Since I'm all hyped on caffeine at the moment I THINK THAT'S A GREAT IDEA AND I'M GOING TO SAY THAT AS LOUD AS I CAN! WOOT!

So. Thanksgiving is coming up. Let's take this opportunity to consume waaay too much Dr. Pepper and take lots of photos, draw lots of sketches and compose lots of poetry about our favorite addiction. Sooner or later one of us is going to come up with a cool avatar, we'll vote on it, I'll post it.

Hello and Welcome! This is pretty much just a new club for people who have more than a natural attachment to a popular caffeinated beverage that goes by the name of Dr. Pepper.

If I'm feeling geeky enough, tomorrow I will post a short history of the company and the drink. ^_^ There's a headquarters somewhere in Dallas, near where I live. Would anyone be interested in pics? Leave me a note if you have an idea for a club activity.

We're having a contest for the club avatar, beginning now. Please send me a NOTE (not a comment) if you want to submit a link to your submission for the Avatar Contest. The 3 best avatars will be posted here on July 1st, and open voting will begin to decide the winner. Voting will close at midnight CST on July 4th and the winner will be announced the next day.
