Here's the conclusion of the last update with the upload of the clips from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. This update also introduce a new format for the site.

From now on, all clips will be uploaded in either 2 formats. The classic AVI with a MPEG-4 Part 2 video Codec / MP3 Audio Codec and the new MP4 with a MPEG-4 Part 10 / Advanced Audio Codec (AAC).
If you're having difficulties playing this new format, I suggest you try installing ffdshow-tryout [link] and Media Player Classic Home Cinema [link]

On the other hand, I have some thoughts about work since last week. I can classify works in two categories: handling and service. Handling are jobs that have someone build or construct something, like a miners collect coal, welders crate structure, artists create drawing, fishers bring fish. In the other hand, you have accountants, lawyers, archivists, librarians, etc, which don't produce good but provide services. The site fits more the service type, while artists fit the product one. But over the time, I've felt the handling one has always looked from above the service one. Especially when, after I asked for birthday presents I've been told no one deserve it, but an artist doing the same thing a week after get a total opposite reply.

And sadly it suck. During last weeks updates, I had to struggle to finish them. The last week-end was a rainy one, so my plan to work outside were ruined. I decided I may as well work on the update. But as I was filling the excel forms, the task was getting more and more excruciating. The routine of pick clip, look for character, paste character, look for category, paste category, get description, open file, get picture, make 3 thumbnails, rinse, repeat was getting too much. I barely was able to finish it.

The task of updating the site is getting boring. When someone draw, that person gets something new each time take the pencil. They even improve (well, most artist anyway) each time they draw something, they learn. But it's the same boring routine each week with the site. A routine that give no satisfaction at all, no reward of any kind, personal or from other. At least, when I'm coding, I get a satisfaction of making something, of solving problems, of learning new things. And I've been having a lot more fun working on the Deviantart download utility [link] and the DragoniadeClipUI helping tools [link] than the updates themselves.

I've been told by a few friends "if the site gets more a job than an hobby, you should stop". And I've decided just that. I'm taking a break, an hiatus, for the next 2 months. After that, who knows. Since I've just spend 130$ in Fighting Fantasy books for contents, I may as well roll 2 dices and if I roll over 6, update new info. And if I roll over 9, I'll upload the clips along. Ok. More seriously, I'll probably go for a monthly and not fixed update. It seem sites with 'unscheduled' or monthly updates get more notices and feedback. In the meanwhile, I probably will continue coding: finish the search engine, add browser support to it, refine the book section and probably tweak some sections and probably give velocity a try on the site. This is what I've been enjoying more lately. So, tada until January.

Another weekly update. I added Legion of Super Heroes, Lilo and Stitch and I should be adding Fullmetal Alchemist Broterhood tomorrow.
I've also made some change to the code, pushing the 3.0.15 up. Nothing serious just the basic for 2 future project.
- An independent download log, so I can get better stats.
- The core for a transformation map system. This would take a Google map, and put marker on country / city where transformation people are located, with the number of person. Maybe there's more people in your area who are TF fan.

I've also raised the quota for the free accounts and donating accounts. The free account went from 5 files to 50 files and with a bandwidth going from 50 to 500 megs. This should make some people happy.

That's mostly it for the site. Ahead is a rant about it. If you don't want to know about my current thought about the site and the community, you can stop reading.

--------------------------------------------------------

It's fall. It's the time of the year where people are the most tired due to the time and light change. It's also a time to think about our decision.

There's been something that has been bothering me. Seeing a similar post elsewhere gave food for my thought. We could say I have 2 jobs: my real life job and the Shadowlord website.
The first one, I work 40 hours a week in average, sometime more. My achievement are rewarded bi-monthly by a check.
The Shadowlord website, I wish I could put the time I spend on it. Lets try to put some average number. Looking for show, normally a Monday to Saturday job, spending about 2-3 hours a day looking what the PVR recorded. Sometime more, sometime less. Then come the week-end. 2-3 hours preparing which clips to upload, normalizing them since the old site and starting the upload before heading out. Then on Sunday, it's the actual update. I think I spend 4 hours on that last one, since there was new clips and I needed to redo the thumbs for the old show. In total, lets give a round number of 15 hours a week.
Contrarily to my work job, this one give me zero benefit. It's all on my arm.

So what has been bothering me... Is it wrong for me to want fanart / gift art for all my work? Practically all of the personal artworks I have are commission. I can count gifts fan arts with both hands. I spend a lot of time weekly on the community site. The 700 average monthly downloads (from 400 to 1200) shows there's people using it. Yet, I practically get no real support. I'm a sucker for transformation of myself and Dragoniade arts. Anyone who saw me at a con knows that from my sketchbooks. But people seem not to consider it's worth contributing.

What's the most frustrating is I often see people on Deviant art posting the request they've done. LOTS of request to some TF fan. Some which are know to be real pest at requesting stuff. Why can people doing NOTHING other than begging for art get something, while I, who work that much for it, get nothing? It's even more infuriating when some of them message you and brag how they got more commissions (read requests) than you, then say they can't pay because they're just kids...

Not only that, but I've got my share of being burned for helping people in the community. I'll wash my dirty laundry there with some of the enraging case.

* Mr K2, Mr B, Mr S and Mr R both transformation artists, needed help on a website. Since I was a friend with B and Stonegate knew K2, I offered myself to code the back end of their art gallery, in exchange for a color drawing from each tenant. That was in 2002 or so and I coded their website, adding a new feature from time to time as they asked. Mr S and Mr R did their part and drew me a picture each. Mr K2 denied owning me any drawing while Mr B only gave me an unfinished sketch, only half of it inked. To this day, no word from any of those 2.

* Mr J and Mr K live together and are fan of transformation and cartoon. Mr K contact me saying he's a fan of TF and that he would be interested in seeing some clips to help Mr J with character references, poses and transformation. I agreed and sent him a good chunk of file. In thanks, he did a drawing for me. After that, he asked for a few more reference, asked for some money for help and for a commission, which I accepted since I usually support those that supported me. After 6 years, I have yet to see those drawings, only getting excuses like 'the dog ate the first sketch', 'Mr J is trying a new technique, you'll be the next one to try it', 'We're moving', 'Mr J's not in the mood'. and so on. Another TF artists I helped and that went bad to me.

* Mr. L is a transformation writer. Back in 2004, he needed a new PC. Since he was a friend and I could get a custom PC build for cheap, we sort of made a deal. I would bring him a new PC and he would pay me at the next c...

It's less than than 6 days before I jump over another decade. Time sure fly by when you keep yourself busy. I wonder if this one will be different than the previous ones. I've been seeing people left and right giving celebration to others. I hope thing will be different this time, or if my theory will be proven. Though I have my old ghosts to deal with regarding this.

One thing this nostalgia reminded me, were all the books about transformation I went through when I was a teen. Some of those are the well known Fighting Fantasy series. I used to go through them at the library only to locate which one had transformation in them. This is sort of why I added the book section to the site. But since they were from the library, I never got my hands on a book to keep for myself. Only the excerpt of the transformations, and a list of book.

Until now. Some time ago, someone posted a compilation of the transformation in the Fighting Fantasy series. Last week, I pulled that list and compared it to my own list, adding the missing entries, removing the duplicating and finding the right title compared to mines, since my list was based in the french publication of those books. This also made me realize that some good Transformation publication were only available in french, like the Metamorphose series (Metamorphosis). As the name implied, it's FILLED with transformations and transformations is the main plot of the, sadly incomplete, series.

I've ordered a few books, which are arriving. But a lot of those are quite old and hard to find. So, if anyone have access to any of those book, from their neighborhood old bookstores, or their personal collection, and can have them for a FAIR price, let me know. I would be interested in completing my collection.

Also, if you happen to know of any extra books I could add to this list, let me know, with the series it belong to, it's publication number and title. I know Eala posted a few years back a scan of a transformation theme Goosebumps adventure book, so there must be other outside of the Fighting Fantasy format.

Here's my list so far, with what I own.
I'm back from vacation. Already all gone and back to work.

I left Friday in the early morning to take the plane that would fly my north for hunting. I meet my mom and we drop to the work camp when we packed the boat.
The next day, I met my hunting partner and headed to the reservoir to head to our mirador, 20 km by boat, while my father and mother were hunting in their mirador.
We were supposed to stay there until Wednesday, as both my mother and partner were heading back to work on Thursday, but due to the bad weather, we decided to head back Tuesday. For the 3 days we stayed, it was all wind and rains.
There were quite a few wind waves on the reservoir, but the boat was sure able to take it.

I took Wednesday easy, as my father needed to catch up at work. I took the day to work a bit on the site, working on the future search engine and adding another import feature to help me with the updates.

On Thursday morning, my father and I headed back to his mirador that he lefts the day earlier. The silence was great, disturbed only by the sound of Canadian gooses honking while flying south, beaver swimming and duck running on the water.
However, it was sometime disturbed by the sound of machinery, loaders and dumping truck, working a few kilometers away on the road leading to the work camp. With the mountain and flat valley, the sounds were really amplified and it was like they were working right next to us.

On Friday, my father when down to the ground to call, while I hold guard upstairs. At 10h00, he climbed back and we were sort of loosing hope, as the working sound was really loud and were really disturbing the peace. My father decided to take a nap, while I pulled my laptop to resume my work on the search engine, raising my head every minute or so to keep watch.
It's at 12h30 that I raised my head to look outside I saw it. A small buck walking along the other side of the stream. With all the noise, one came out. I notified my father, who got up as I was grabbing my riffle and my clips. We both got outside and as my father was aiming the moose and I was readying myself to assist him, I saw it... Another moose left the branches to follow the first one. And it was another male. I look at my father, saying there was another one and acknowledging with him about getting both. We nodded at each other and while he was aiming the first one, I aimed at the second one.
We both shot at the same time. His fell at the first shot, mine didn't move an inch. I shot 2 other time before he finally decided to walk away back into the bush. I was shocked. 3 bullets and it did nothing. But knew I hit him.

We waited an hour, watching in case the first one would get up and in case we would spot the second one, before crossing the stream. The first one was down, not having moved an inch, so we proceeded to find mine. There was blood, so I did hit him. We first went into the high folliage and saw nothing. While my father decided to walk further, I went back to where I last saw the moose, then started to track the blood on the ground and foliage. Red on green is not easy to spot, but after about 30 feet through the foliage, I saw it. I did get it, and quite good. All shot went in, where they should, but he was one of those that wouldn't fell no matter what. We started to prepare the nooses for transportation, which means eviscerate them then cut them in quarters. During the process, my partner arrived, having been notified we hit, and two hours later, our expedition's partners. We loaded the ATV and headed back to the main camp to hangs the quarters. All done, we headed back to the work camp for the night.

On Saturday, we started washing the stuff and packing, planning to head south on Sunday.

On Sunday, we got up at 5 AM, ate breakfast and started the drive back to our maple grove, a nice 1400 Km trip .

[link]

We stopped at Amos to register the kills. About halfway through the regional park, we were flagged by the forest patrol to stop. Seem they were waiting for us and we figured out it was because we registered 2 kills at the same spot, same time, same day, which is rather suspicious in other circumstance. After checking all the papers and asking a few questions, they asked my to come inside for questioning, same for my father. They questioned me further, asking more details about how the hunt occurred. After a 15 minutes interrogation, one of the ranger left and I waited with the other one. They came back, saying all was OK, and we left a few minut...

Of course, leecher are defending that person [link]

Is it too much to ask to have a bit of respect to those who contribute content? Why do people have to steal all the work of others and try to cash on it. That person sure didn't go through the work of recording the TV broadcast, capturing it to his PC, trimming the video down, encoding it then put it on a website of his own.

He just took the clip away and lazily uploaded it on You Tube. No mention to the original contributor, no link the site. And while I do all the work, leech like him simply get all the positive feedback.

If you notice any transformation video having my watermark, PLEASE, remind the person that this clip was not made by him and he should, at least credit the source and link back to it or otherwise, delete it.
If that person is stubborn, then be stubborn back too. It's people like him that bring back the "Is TF dead" once in a while. It's people like him that make people quit. And it's leech like those who defend him that make everyone keep their work for themselves.

It's going to be a 3 days week-end. I was planning to do extra work on the site, but I think I'll just take those day off instead. I'm getting feed up to having constantly defend my work and getting nothing back in return.

[link]

Discussion in the forum

======================================

On something not related about the site, Furfright is getting close and I'm short in time. This year, dues to work schedule and summer plan changes, I ended up not having time to do a proper room and roommate search for Fur Fright. With less than 3 months left, I need to secure something.

So I'm looking for someone with a room who is willing to accept a (or an extra) roommate. Preferably, someone that knows or heard of me, as I'm not too found of staying with total strangers. I heard too many horror stories about those. Of course, I would be splitting the costs. And of course, that person need to be certain he/she will attend the con.

If you are the person I'm looking for, let me know. This sort of will determine if I'll go this year or not, as I need to reserve my vacations slots. And due to the hunt timing, I'll have to take another 3 weeks off again this year!

Only a small update this week with 4 shows from the 'R' section: Ratchet & Clank, Rupert, Rosewell Conspiracies and Repligator.

However, there's something new. People who have followed the site know that this is the 3rd formats we went through since the site started.

The first one was a plain HTML where everything was static and had to manually be updated in notepad or any basic HTML editor.
The second one was made in PHP with a database backend in order to simplify the update, sorting and categorization.
The third, and current one, now use Java on Tomcat with a database backend for a more persisted format and a more interactive service.

Some of the features were removed or added from one version to another. And the nostalgic were wondering what happened to those feature and the other site.
Well, after getting a few demands about the old site and the old gallery, and since everything back then was all static, I decided to code a small servlet that would feed a website from a big ZIP archive. And thus, Shadowlord 1.0, which I branded "Legacy", with its 62709 files, fita in a 800Mb zip file.

The nostalgic and those wanting to see what the site looked back between 1999 and 2003 can now access it at [link]
It contain some old stuff that is now long gone and were first hosted on Shadowlord back then.

Enjoy and feedback is appreciated. [link]

======================================

On something not related about the site, Furfright is getting close and I'm short in time.
Site: A milestone has been reached

This latest update mark a big progress in the upload.
With this update, I have officially started uploading my contents and new contents. In this case, the new content was Soul Eater and Batman the Brave and the Bold.

What is different? Up until now, all the clips I had uploaded were the one Stonegate contributed. Since the site started, both of us were putting our clips together, one have having access to clips the other didn't and vice versa. As of now, all the *shows* that Stonegate was the only contributor has been upload.
All the future update will be of either new shows not yet displayed on the site, or my own clips from show we both contributed to or where I had the exclusivity.

How much has been uploaded so far? About 26 GB and 4673 videos, excluding the preview files. And there's still about 65 GB to go through. That's a lot, but as they saying gows, slow and steady win the race.

So, bare with me as I keep updating and put new content online. Support is appreciated too.

How can you support? There's many way. First, you can donate by following the link in the footer. Second, you can donate arts. I'm a sucker for self transformation, as my previous transformation commissions and contest demonstrated. So any TF of me [link] would also be welcomed.

What are the plan for the future? Other than uploading new contents, I'm working in my hiatus period on the search engine for the site. On a more longer term, I plan to redo the layout, ditching the black and grey 'Stonegate' style for a more light theme. I may also start a livejournal page for the site, to announce downtime and such.

Also, Kyreeth has fixed a big problem that was causing a lot fo slowdown on both this site and others furvect site. Thanks a lot Kyreeth. All is much faster. Keep up the good work.

Discussion and feedback can be posted in the forum [link] .

======================================

On something not related about the site, Furfright is getting close and I'm short in time.
****************************************
***            Update  2             ***
****************************************

Well, we're back online. The machines running Shadowlord Inc are patched and back online. I talked to the admin and he put back the things up. There's still a few things to fix. However, I think I found out one of the problem with the machine failing to reboot and I'm passing the information along to the admin.

I'll check about the other furvect site. [link] and the furvect.com sites are running on different servers. So fixing mine didn't fix the others for the moment.

So, everyone having a site on furvect, send me a note / email / Instant Message about it to me or the admin, to see about moving your site from the old, unstable server, to the new one.

***************************************************

Well, I was giving time a chance, but I guess 1 week is enough waiting.

Here's an update about the site downtime.

About 2 weeks ago, a power down hit the collocation server that hosted the server we're using.
While the machine is OK, the small downtime this caused some of the servers setup bug to surface.
The person who owned the server took noticed and said he would fix it.

Since then, there has been some instability. Out of the 4 machines used (DB, Web, Storage, Account), one of them keep resetting at each reboot, breaking the whole setup until the admin would manually patch it. That it, until the next reboot, where everything would have to be done again.
This impacted not only my site, but also ALL of Furvect site, as I'm still hosted there, except on the new machine. However, since my DNS was duplicated, my website was still accessible while all of Furvect sites (Foxx, Doc's lab, etc) weren't.

Those Furvect sites were to be migrated to the new servers, but some of the owner are either not responding or never left any contact info.

The main problem now is, I'm without word from the administrator of Furvect. Last time I talked to him, he was saying he was "boarding" and would check the site later on. Some hours later, everything went down and I couldn't even contact any of the machines. That has been a week ago...
Now, I dunno if the "boarding" meant he was going on vacation, was leaving the country due to Visa issue problem or simply was going out due to his work, but I've been left in the black as what is happening. Is everything fine? Has something happened? I dunno, and it is stressing me as much as everyone who can't access any of their sites.

Hopefully, things are just ok and I should get news this week-end. If not, I fear things will be complicated in order to find a replacement host.

And before anyone start sending links of cheap hosting services, remember that this is a video sites, featuring an arts gallery and offering an indexing of all the clips.
A 30GB storage with MySql, PHP and 300GB bandwidth per month won't cut it.

And now you know why Shadowlord and Dragoniade Inc, along with all Furvect site, are down.

Cross posted on [link] and [link] Feel free to spread around.

****************************************
***            Update                ***
****************************************

Look like the admin is returning home Thursday. More news to come.

Here are the result for the contest. Now, due to the lack of sufficient entries, I've decided to remove the "Quality" categories. It's not that the entries weren't of quality, but since there weren't enough of them, it was a bit unfair to judge them when most of the good one already went into the other categories.

So the results go as follow:

******************************
For the Favorite Category:
******************************

First place goes to Comus for his dolphin transformation. Nice work, funny image. Made me smile. The context he used was Flipper, both a movie and a TF series.
* [link]

Second place goes to Metamorpher for the crocodile transformation. Nice pace, nice pose. Nice tail. The context he used was Peter Pan, in reference to the crocodile and the ticking watch.
* [link]
* [link]
* [link]

Third place goes to Inuebony for the Ninja Tribunal Dragon transformation. I haven't seen that arc yet, but the dragons looked quite nice. The context he used was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 20003 TF series.
* [link]
* [link]
* [link]
* [link]

Fourth place goes to HyperJet for the shark TF. He used Jaws as the context.
* [link]

Fifth place goes to Ageaus for his Viashino transformation. Viashino is a species from the card game Magic the Gathering.
* [link]

******************************
For the Originality Category:
******************************

First place goes to SesakaHeart for the Thing TF. I nearly felt off my chair when I saw it. It was totally unexpected. The thing is an horror movie, which she used as reference.
* [link]

Second place goes to Lukery for the pig transformation. He had found a good way to mix the site, show and contest. He used the movie Willow as the context.
* [link]
* [link]
* [link]

Third place goes to KitsuneKit for the rat transformation. He used a classic in the Transformation community: Disney's Aladdin, the Series.
* [link]

Fourth place goes to Avancna for the dragon TF. He used Disney's Sleeping Beauty well known dragon Transformation as the context.
* [link]
* [link]

******************************
For stories and other media:
******************************

First place goes to Ageaus for his Simic Induction stories, based upon the Magic: the Gathering universe.
* [link]

Second place goes to Comus, for his Dolphin transformation stories telling the stories of his picture who won the first prize in favorite.
* [link]

Third and fourth places goes to Morwalugi for his 2 dragon transformations written and narrated stories.
* [link]
* [link]

Congratulation to the winner.
When I thought Furries couldn't fall any lower, I'm proved wrong.

We all know there's a lot of furries who either support or simply ignore the fact that there's pedophilia among their herd of sheep. It all started to Fur Affinity, who decided that pedophilia was acceptable, as long it didn't involved real children. So far, it was restricted to a website and the zealot worshiping it. Sure, there was also a con associated with that site, which I don't even want to approach.

But now, it seem it get the seal of approval from other convention.
Yesterday, one NSFW link ended up in on of my journal. The artworks was actually nice, and it was more a nude than porn (or I would have trashed that link away). However, a lot of people commented about ADP. ADP what's that? I did a search, some result pointing out on Fur Affinity (pukes). Then I realize, ADP stand for Adult Dragon Panel, a Further Confusion panel.

My only experience with FC didn't involve that panel, as it hasn't been there when I got to that con. But from what I saw, or thought I saw, I imagined it to be a serious panel about what dragon would be like, without all the fetish and zoomorphism furries are found of.

Damn, I was proved wrong today. Looking at one search result for ADP, I stumble upon some artwork of 3 adults dragon raping a child dragoness from a very popular video game. Yes, you probably guessed who they were and also the age associated with those involved. And someone who attended the con confirmed that this one was showcased.

So it look like that pedophilia work is now welcome during furry convention. This is SICK. And furries wonder why people like to make fun of them, why they don't take then seriously and don't respect them. Because their social duty is restricted to what can give them an erection, masculine or feminine.

Now that I had enough point for a flight ticket, I was thinking attending another Further Confusion. But seeing now that this con is no better than FurAffinity and AnthroCon, I think I'll look somewhere else. And keep pointing fingers at furries for the freak they are. And to say that 4 years ago, I would have been insulted by such comments.

Well, the holidays time of is over. Time to get back to work.
I must say, it has been so so.

The Holiday itself has been a big bleh. Icing rain, bad sleep. At least it was short. But the most disappointing thing was seeing others getting gifts, birthday presents or rewards for their effort done in 2008 for holiday period while, on my end, got some pat on the back. It's really... disappointing. Like if what I did in 2008 or my Birthday weren't worth anything, while others were being congratulated with drawings of their lead characters or a transformation picture. What Dutchman told me one day really hit me in such occasion: video archivers simply get no recognition at all, only people drawing or writing. But all are expected to produce.

On a more positive note, the time I spent north with my parent was a bast. I spent 1 week and a half there, sometime helping my mother at work, but most of time, spending time doing snowmobile.

We went to our mirador, ride on the frozen lake, which was partially unfrozen by area. We went looking for other hunting spot where to build other mirador. I also saw plenty of caribou/reindeer. In the past 15 years, they've moved south and they were not to be seen here. But now, there's plenty and saw quite a bunch of herds here and there. We even had a small one (6 beasts) running past us (by 6 feet) while we were unboarding the snowmobile.

We also saw plenty of track. Some moose even walked in ours snowmobile tracks during the night, considering it was easier for them to simply reuse our tracks

One day, we went through our main camp to the camp where I killed my moose last hunt. a 40 km ride. Then next day, we went back to pick up a quad that had been left there. Another day, we went back and fort from the main camp to camp #2, for a 150 km ride at -30C

Now, I'm back home, work is tomorrow and an update to work on
Crappy holiday, great entertainment!

-----------------------------------------------

TF Contest: [link]
[link]
[link]

Entries: Only 3 so far.
Finally the week-end and I finally have some time to write a con report.

Thursday:
I finish packing my stuff and hit the road at 11h00, a bit belated. Expected time of travel: 6 hours. The ride went quite well and I was at the hotel by 18h30. Lan Hao arrived an hour after and we headed for supper. I got myself an extra sketchbook, then back at the hotel, took the queue for pre-registration then went to bed.

Friday:
With the dealers room not opening before noon, I filled the Attendee of Honor (AoH) form and went to the opening ceremony. It was nice, but I heard an awful rumor... Last year, last year AoH was a guy that was also participating to the masquerade. Since the AoH is also a judge for the performance, he couldn't be both so he handed his place to a friend of the con. However, this year, they announced they wanted to be fair and give the AoH to the previous year guy. However, during the draw, his name got picked instead... Or so they claimed.

Now, I hope it was a rumor and nothing more, but someone participating to the events heard them saying it was actually my name that got drawn and they just gave they guy the AoH instead. If it really so, this was totally dishonest from them. If they wanted to give a special AoH, fine, but don't tell everyone they have a chance to be one. Especially when it's among a selected few.

After the ceremony, I went to the dealers room and left my sketchbooks there for a few commissions. I meet Skulldog and Likeshines, which were really friendly. I went to a panel and wandered around until the end of the day. Sadly, I couldn't find anyone I was looking for.

Saturday:
I recovered my sketchbooks when the dealers opened and gave them to others. While wandering in the dealers room, I spotted Solidasp and WFA and say hi to them. I went to another panel and peeked at the auction room. Nothing was really interesting in there, mostly food and soda, so nothing to bid for. I spent some time between the games room, the dealers room and the alley. I also picked a new bad ass badge. I didn't manage to spot anyone more of the people I was looking for. The day ended with the Masquerade, which was quite interesting.

Sunday:
I missed a panel I wanted to attend so I went to the dealers room for more sketchbooks rotation. I got quite a few comments about the badge and 2 artists really loved my character designs and wanted to have their hand on him post con. Time went quite fast, and while I was looking for more people, I managed to quickly spot Havoc. Lan Hao lefts during the afternoon. But it was soon time for the rooms to close and I ended the events by attending the closing ceremony. This is were I heard about the possible AoH manipulation.

Also, at the very end of the ceremony, the main staff announced that there was 1 car from Québec with a flat tire and someone here had tools to help. Since there wasn't that many car from Québec, I went to look ... and it was mine. There was a screw buried down to the head in the side of the tire. I went to meet the guy, and while his tools weren't fitting for my car, he helped me jacking the car and lighten up the job. I spent the rest of the evening with the friends from Québec.

Monday:
I got up, finished packing and moved my stuff to the car. There was a Costco next to the hotel, so I waited until 11h00 for it to open to get a replacement tire. What a waste of time it was. They call the United States the land of the Fat, and their cars sure reflect that... No way to get 13 inches tires at Costco. And I can't really drive 600 km at low speed with a replacement tire. But it was Costco, so the service was perfect. The guy give me reference to a tire shop in the towm, so I drove there. An hour later, I was there. Again, no 13 inches tires, only tires starting at 14 inches ones. At least, they showed me a list of tires other store had, and when I spoted Hartford in the list. I had business to Hartford, so I took the address and headed that way. 80 km wasn't that bad on the tire.

So another hour again, I was at the store and got 1 tire replaced. But when they fixed the tire, they move the car in front and told me the other tire was leaking. Really, I had that car for 7 years now and I never had a flat tires, and it even went on off-road and 2400 km trips. So either someone sabotaged the tires (someone had his car window broken at the con), or the construction workers in CT are real fucktards, leaving tons of craps on their "repaired" road.

In anyway, I was out by 15h00 of the shop, and 500 km to go and an order to pick up at Cabela's. I left Cabela's by 16h30, having picked up an order or reloading items and perusing the store. That store was just awesome, so huge and with so many eye candy!

I was home by 22h30.

In summary...
The good:
It was a nice con. N...

Back from my first 'half' of my vacations.
Hunting went well. The group managed to get the 4 moose we had permits for, one which was mine.

Day 1: Saturday
Took the cab at 05h30 for the airport. Flight took off at 07h00 and landed at 09h00. My father was there to pick me up at the Nemiscau Airfield. We drove to our main camp, which was 2 hours and an half away and stopped for some business my father still had before his own vacations. Once there, I unpacked and we started to load the ATV with the stuff we would need for our week at our mirador, which is about 5 km away in the wood. In the evening, we drove to the construction camp for the La Sarcelle powerhouse project, which is about 30 km away) to meet my mother and drove back to the camp for the night.

Day 2: Sunday
We get up at sun rise, finish packing the extra stuff and drive to our mirador in ATV, stopping about 1 km away and finishing the trip by foot, to make as less noise as possible. Now, this year, I realize I really got to get a smaller laptop. Mine is way too HEAVY and carrying it, along with an extra heavy riffle, was a real burden. On at our mirador, we decided to take a nap, since it was already noon and hadn't called yet. Close to 14h00, I get up and look through the window... and spotted one! One moose cow was grazing in the water right in front of the mirador, at about 300 feet away. However, the season was only for buck, so it was only a photo hunting session. My father called and she slowly walked toward us, at about 100 feet from our place. She watched a little, then resumed grazing until she decided to leave.

2 hours later, she was back, at the same spot. However, she was a bit nervous and we were wondering if the buck wasn't around. We were answered half an hour later when... a second cow showed up! It was really nice to watch. They grazed for another hour before slowly moving away by the river bank. We went to sleep at night.

[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]

Day 3 Monday: We watched in turn, one watching movies or reading while the other watched. I used my laptop for the small amount of time the powerpack and the batteries lasted, which was about only 4 hours, even with the solar panel we installed on the top. Nothing really showed and we called all day. With night coming and without much power left, we decided to watch a movie... buried under about 2 sleeping bags and covers, as the temperature was dropping bellow zero during the night. We stayed late as of 21h00 watching the movie.

[link]
[link]

Distance from where the moose was.
[link]

Day 4 Tuesday: My father woke up first from that late night at 07h00. We were still half asleep when he decided to peek through the window... and spotted another moose! I rose up and picked the binocular and we confirmed: it was a buck. My father was closer to the door, so he went out and fired. 1 bullet and it was over. He was very lucky (and good) and managed to hit it right in the heart. We waited an hour, then went to cut the moose in quarter. It took the whole morning to do so and move it to the main camp for hanging. We then went back to empty the mirador. With a beast down, the commotion usually drive the other moose away.

Day 5 Wednesday : We finished packing the stuff from the mirador to the main camp. Some friends were arriving that day and went to see them. We spent the remaining time paroling the road.

Day 6 Thursday : We finally heard news from the other parties. They got 2 bucks themselves on the reservoir. We keep the day patrolling and meet other hunters.

Day 7 Friday : It was a day off, as my father was need at work. We spent the day at the construction camp and spend some time coding, since I had power.

The hunt result so far 3 down, 1 left to go. Plenty of meat so far. Moose meat beats beef anytime.
[link]

Day 8 Saturday: It was a day off for my mother. We took the freighter boat and tried to located the second mirador we bought from a late friend of my parent. We had 2 sets of coordinates: 1 from google and 1 from the maps, but we didn't remembered which GPS had them. The first led us to a bay close to our starting point, but it wasn't it.
Vacation finally. It has been since the last Christmas holiday since I had vacation. Now, I'm taking 2 full weeks for hunting and 1 off for myself, with that week-end dedicated to Fur Fright, which, by the way, I still have 1 place left for travel and rooming.

I would like to remind that I'm still running a Transformation contest for the site. I don't know if it's the season, but I haven't got that many response as I did on the last one. Maybe 2 so far. Spread the word!

[link]
[link]

I'm also looking for someone who can work leather. A few weeks ago, I posted photo of my new riffle.

[link]

Sadly, it didn't come with any gun sling. So far, I only bought a cheap one, but I'm more interested in something customized. Most of the leather one either only come with a single embossed deer, or a scenery of dear/ducks. Me, I'm more looking for en embossed dragon scenery. After all, a lot of antique firearm bears the symbol of the dragon, since it represent fire and China invented the black powder.

I've only managed so far to locate 1 worker, but I'll rather look for someone here before trying to contact one internationally. [link]

So if you work leather or know someone who do and are taking 'commission' for such item, I would be interested in getting quotes and information.

Well, minus the various old clips upload, I had my first major update on the new sites, Class of the Titans, which counted for 104 new clips!

More to come until I go for a long due 3 weeks vacation in 2 weeks.

Also, with the site reopening, I've set another contest. This time, themed with the site.

Once again, I will be the happy/surprised/unhappy (victim?) of a transformation. The transformed will be me, and the transformation must be either into a animal or creatures featured in any media, a character specie featured in any media, an alteration to match a character or specie from any media, or through a trigger from any media. So this isn't just restricted to animal transformation. Body alteration (growth, extra arms, muscle, etc) are accepted too, as long it respect the mentioned rule. Mind you, human to human TF without an alteration doesn't count.

Need some examples?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

* Media: Comics, TV series, Movies
* Possible Trigger: Mutagen, Magic
* Possible Transformation: Any creature using the mutagen or magic trigger, or a anthro crocodile (leatherhead), asian dragon (drako, Ninja Tribunal), rat (Splinter), rhino (Rocksteady), turtle (D'uh)

Dinosaucers:

* Media: TV series
* Possible Trigger: Dinovolving
* Possible Transformation: Any dinosaurs based on the characters (i.e. Allo is an allosaur) or through a dinovolution.

Aladdin:

* Media: TV Series, Movies
* Possible Trigger: Genie
* Possible Transformation: Anything by the genies, Shark, Naga (Aladdin got turned into those during the series), Parrot (Iago is a parrot), Tiger (Rajah is one), etc.

The Dragon Knight (the movie Flight of the Dragons was based on the first book)

* Media: Books, Derived movie
* Possible Trigger: Magic
* Possible Transformation: Dragon, wolf, selkie.

Free Willy:

* Media: Movies, TV Series
* Trigger: None
* Possible Transformation: Orca (Willy is an Orca)

Godzilla:

* Media: Movie, TV Series, Comics, Game
* Trigger: Nuclear Radiation, alien experiment
* Possible Transformation: Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, any monster appearing in the franchise.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

* Media: TV Series, Movie, Comic
* Trigger: Magic sword, magic
* Possible Transformation: Muscle Inflation, Body alteration, Saber-tooth tiger (Cringer), Dragons (various dragon characters).

The Black Stallion

* Media: Movie (2)
* Trigger: None
* Possible Transformation: Stallion

And so on. As you can see, the transformation concept isn't necessarily in the media in question, as long as the character isn't human (Free Willy, Black Stallion). If you can find a media featuring a non-human character or a trigger for a transformation and then you're set. It can be any media, from Lilo & Stitch's experiment to any Final Fantasy monster; from the Spider-man Comic to the Choose Your Own Adventures books. The choices are yours.

Simply submit your choice as described above, with the media name and trigger chosen.

This time, prize will involve money alongside site content:

* 1st place: 35$, 4 DVD of various content from the site and a subscription.
* 2nd place: 20$, 3 DVD of various content from the site and a subscription.
* 3rd place: 10$, 2 DVD of various content from the site and a subscription.
* 4th place: 2 DVD and a subscription
* 5th place: 1 DVD and a subscription

The entries will be judged into 4 categories, each having their 5 slots.

* Favorite: The transformations I like the most
* Originality: The triggers or creature we don't see often, unexpected or with a twist
* Quality: The best TF in quality and effort.
* Stories and other media: Stories or non arts related entries go there.

Submission must respect the site policies. So nudity is acceptable as long it remain in the tasteful level. See the art policies [link] for more details.

References:

* Human: Philippe [link]
* Dragoniade: on Deviant Art [link] , On the character section [link] , Gallery [link]

If you have any question, feel free to post them in the forum [link] .

1. Site update
2. TF Contest 2008
3. Fur Fright 2008

========================
1. Site
========================
The site is ready. And it's about time. After about 3 years (the pullout has been issued in October 2005) , I finally feel confident enough to push the new site.

Sadly, I won't have access to the server that will hosting it until the 23rd, which mean I got to wait until then before starting to set it up. With luck, I'll have minimal access to it before that date. Until then, I'll just have to prepare the deployment. For those that are still interested in testing it, I'll leave the testing site open until the time come for the big move. Just contact me for the semi secret url.

Here's the plan. Once I have access to the machine, I'll make a final conversion on my server and upload the database. I'll then push the static content (image and html) to the site. I won't be uploading the video first. There's a reason for that: there's too many of them to push all at once. So what I plan to do is to upload a new section every day or so, depending of my workload. What I will upload is left to MY discretion alone, but I plan to upload the NEW contents I made or resampled over the past 3 years, to sort things on my ends. I also plan to upload the female only transformation media at the very end. Why? We have a joke here that translate somewhat like this: "How to you make 200 cows moo together at the same time? You shut off the light at the bingo hall!" That somewhat the reason why.

In the meanwhile, I'll be sending an email to every persons who donated to the site a "sponsor" code that will give them more download access. The only exception is that I'm excluding those who donate less than 2$ (the paypal fee is eating through them) and the vehement people from a certain TF site that emphasis on the belittling of the female gender through transformation.

========================
2. TF contest 2008
========================

For the site reopening, I'm thinking doing another Transformation contest, like I did last year. However, this time, it would be tied with the theme of the site.

As you know, there's a character section, listing a lots of the characters involved in the video clips, transformation and non transformation) featured. A big share of them are non-human, or offer a good context for a TF.

So, the contest would be to do a transformation of me either
1. Into a specie of a character featured on the site or any media. Example: Godzilla, Cloverfield, Stitch, Orca (Willy), a Lizardman (Soul Caliber).
2. A species to which on of a character of the media has been turned into. Example: Shark (Aladdin got turned into one), Werewolf (AWIL), Orca (iceburg from GI.Joe).
3. Any species using a trigger from any of the media featured. Example: Genies from Aladdin, The mad scientist from Lilo and stitch, mutagen from the TMNT, the potion from Izma (Kuzco), etc.
4. Any type of TF other than animal TF to match a character or other species in a show.

You see the pattern. It has to me related to one of the show, in the site or yet to be added. If a show or character is not currently listed, then feel free to go ahead with it.

Price will have money involved this time, along with the DVD and subscription for those involved. Since it's just the preliminary, I don't have much info about what they will be. I'm mostly inquiring how it sound, so that people can start if they want or suggest some change for when the site is officially launched. Also, does anyone think I should open it to other media than drawing and stories? If there's any other media, I'm interested to know what you have in mind.

========================
3. Fur Fright
========================

This year, I'll be attending my first US East Coast con in a long time. The last one was in 2004, where I got badly burned by some ex-friends. All the one after were all Canadian cons, smaller but friendlier. Since FF is a small con (compared to AC), I'm planned to head there this fall. However, I'm without roommates. So, is there anyone going there this year and are either looking for a room or for a roommates? If so, I'm interested to join. I would appreciate a room with 3 or 4 peoples, no more no less. 2 peoples make it more expensive at the end, 5 peoples make it crowded. And if you're living in the area of Montreal or plan to drive by to go to the con, I can share ride too.

Just contact me if someone is interested.

This is a followup to [link]

Well, things have been progressing quite well so far. A few tweak has been reported and fixed. What's left if writing the guideline policy and content policy, but damn I hate writing those. I'm planning to polish those during the long week-end (4 days since the national day holiday end up being Tuesday this year. I don't get internet though, except for dial-up for those 4 days sadly. But I should have all the I need for it though and, if things go well, I should be able to begin on a search engine feature too!

Testing has slowed down. Either because everyone got through everything, or only 4 people were mostly active. Any the less, the big bugs have been found. Thanks to everyone who participated. But I plan to leave the test site up for 1-2 more week, for the time I finish unmoving (long story) and start to setup the new server. So if people still want to test, just send me a message through any mean (IM, email, note). Addresses are on the follow-up message at the top.

As for the site opening, expect it in July! Except again if things don't jinx (earthquake, another storm that would leave me without power for a week, sickness, etc). I already got a cold now and lost power last week, thanks to a storm.

P.S.

For anyone wondering why I was looking (and I am still looking for) IP address of a few user / idiots, here's one rease:

[link]
(should be the last comment)

On of the many spams and threats I got from one of them. The kinds of brats that take pleasure in tarnishing other or breaking others hard work. The soccer mom raised kids that will make a crisis if they don't get what they want, in his case, woman molesting TF art).

Tried to contact me through MSN 30 minutes later. If it anyway like like time he emailed me during CHRISTMAS, it would have been a much of empty email full of libel, how I'm bad, how he's good, insult toward my nationality, etc.

P.P.S. I'm STILL looking for the IP address of Trunkated, Sutibaru, Soty and TF-Viewer. If you know any, I would be interested in them.

===================
Edit
===================
It has been close to 1 week and I got a few offer. But I need more. Things look good so far, but I want to make sure everything is looking good before I do the big move.

Especially, I want some people to post arts on the galleries. This is the biggest area where people will actually interract, so I want it to be as error less and convenient as possible. So opinion and feedback are welcome

======================

Time is to tests! I fixed the last few major quirk on the site and I finally feel like it's time to give it a test run!
Up to date, there's only 2 points which I need to work on: Google integration and the User / Gallery guideline, the latest which I hope to complete with the help of some suggestion

What will the test be about? For the next 2 weeks, I will give to a few chosen people access to my development machine (contrarily to some other TF site, I don't develop and test on a live server).
Those persons will have to use the site: browse, download clips, leave comments, leave messages, review clips, etc. If they see something that doesn't work, find a bug, think a feature should be changed, then they should open a bug to the bug page.
Some people will be named moderator to moderate the art upload and I some people will be given art account to upload arts. Donators will also get their code for the site to try.

Contact will be done through Instant Messenger or irc. I have setup an irc server on my home server for that purpose.

So if you're interested, I need at least 20-30 persons willing to use the site randomly or throughly and available for some evening.
If you're only interested in downloading clips, please refrain from submitting. Contact me at the following contacts and we can arrange something.
If possible, I would like at least 5 artists to upload some arts to the gallery. Mind you, the art gallery is also an art repository for people to upload artworks they got shared ownership, such as commission or gift (not purchased prints).

AIM: Dragoniade
Yahoo!: Dragoniade
MSN: Dragoniade@hotmail.com
Email: Dragoniade@hotmail.com

I prefer live communication (Instant Messaging, IRC) over email.

P.S. I'm looking for the IP address of Trunkated, Sutibaru, Soty and TF-Viewer. If you know any, I would be interested in them.

P.P.S. If you I.M. me and you get a little message saying "[00:00] *** Auto-response sent to YOU: Out for work. Catch you tonight" or "[00:00] *** Auto-response sent to YOU: Zzzzzzzzz I'm sleeping.
This time, I'm not going to say any date because each time I do, it just jinx it.

First one who asked this year, I said end of February. By then, the office started the segregation project and I've been doing overtime ever since. It also official: my parents are moving north, which mean I either have to kick my sister out, fully pay a 6 1/2 all by myself, kick a good tenant or look for an apartment. I finally managed to get an apartment until next where when my sister moves out.

When I was asked again for the next release, I say end of March because of those events. Over time keep getting worse at worse. I have over 80 hours of overtime as of today. Snow storm keep hitting and I had to go to our maple grove to clean that out. I had to spend 2 days out of my days off just blowing the yard and shovelling the tops. I finally managed to upgrade my PC and it took a few days to stabilize it. Then 2 of my hard drives on my storage computer failed. It's the computer that holds my clips, pending captured episode and a few personal data (family photo and video). I had to spend the time between work to try to salvage and recover as much of the data. It's back to normal now (I lost most of the stuff done in the pas month, except for the clips which I hold in TRIPLE backup).

As for today, I'm mostly debugging when I have the time. If it wasn't for the lack of time, I would open testing to people. But as it goes, I don't know if I could handle debugging, working and trying to jungle with people trying the site, unless I could get people that actually know how to do beta testing.

So, if trustworthy people are willing to give it a try, they can contact me on the evening, Eastern Time. And I may as well mention that, since this happened last week. If you message me, get a reply from Trillian saying that "I'm out at work" and I don't reply, then DON'T MAKE A FIT because I'm ignoring you. I do something calling 'work'. Contrarily to most fur, I'm not crippled or disabled or a potato couch waiting my BS (or SS as the yankies call it), I WORK and pay my tax. So don't play the offended virgin if you Instant Message me during day time and I don't reply.

Happy (belated) New Year!

Now that I have a few minutes, it's time to wish everyone an Happy New Year !

************
Plan for the year:
************
- Finish the site.
That mostly will happen early. The work is nearly finished. Some tweak with the CRUD and message system, some bug fix and the beta stage.
Last step will be to find a host, but so far, it look like we can stay at furvect and using the money to get a new machine.

- Get someone.
Near mid-year, I'll have the house all for myself. That mean lots of room... for only one person. And also, an higher rent/morgage. But I don't want to take any random stranger as roommate.
And it's about time I share my life with someone. But to find a girl that would like that work loaded dragon...

- Get to the US.
I'm not found of United Stated convention. But with C-Ace gone and only Anthrofest, I'll either have to attend a United Statian one or skip them.
I either have Anthrocon or FurFright. Anthrocon, I'm not sure yet, mostly because it's full of sicko from FurAffinity and the like, not to mention 2 days driving away and expensive. Furfright is smaller, cheaper and probably more friendly. But I heard it got infiltrated last year so...
It's sad to see some of the Canadian artist ignoring Anthrofest.

*************
Wish for the year
*************

- Win the lottery (heh) and buy a few lands near my family land (maples grove)
- The termination of Furaffinity with the current administrators being either thrown to jail or growing some braincells.
- Better dragon and Transformation content

I’m nearly back from our hunting trip. It really didn’t went as good as last year, but still, we managed to get our quota, which was 3 moose out of… 3.5 (yeah, we were 7 this year).

Day 1, Friday: Departure near noon for a distance of about 1200 km to go (750 miles for those still living in the middle-ages). Trying to fix the backing camera my father got for his birthday, I sprang my wrist when the ladder I was user broke and I felt half way from the trailer house. It still hurt up to this day. We stopped about 1/3 to the way to sleep for the night.

Day 2: We resumed traveling and got to the camp site by late afternoon and started to unload and unpack. When we finished, it was past dark.

Day 3: We went on a quick patrol and decided what we would do: I would go with the trailer house to one of the good spot from last year and my parent would go to their cache. After helping my parents setup their spot, we moved the trailer house to the spot. We would remain to our area for 4 days. The weather was rainy with high wind.

Day 4, 5, 6: I stayed at the trailer house, patrolling in ATW and some foot patrol in forest. The area ended up no that good. Too much car traffic from other hunter and too many chopper passing by (there was a mining supply camp near by and the helicopter ended flying over my spot to deliver between the camp and the supply camp). Also, with all the wind and traffic, I should have brought some urine with me. The weather was also very bad: lots of rain and high winds.

Day 7, Thursday: My parents came back and we moved back the trailer house back to the main camp, considering the traffic and the lack of fresh tracks. We saw that the other people in the group managed to get a moose. A native came back with another hunter asking for translation help. He wanted him to move his fortune trailer ‘tent’ from where it was. The guy sort of parked right in front of our (and by usage, the natives) spring water source. So to ensure the water wouldn’t be contaminated, and blocked, they wanted him to move, which he did with our help. We did some more car patrol and planned what we would to for the next few days.

Day 8: We put a boat on my father’s new trailer and we went to a small lake nearby. The ride was rough and putting the boat on water wasn’t that easy with my spring wrist. We did some patrol, but saw nothing. Again, the rain started, and started high. We even got some ice falling. We headed back, disappointed for more disappointment from our group. There have been some issues with the other people from the camp. First, we have been an odd number since my partner couldn’t / wouldn’t come this year. To compensate, the other brought his son with one of his friend. While we are supposed to be on a hunting trip here, they had in mind they were in ‘vacation’. No reserve at all: Hot shower EVERY day, not unfreezing their meal and cooking it for HOURS, being cheap on gasoline for the generator… while we were rationing everything. And they were all in a hurry to leave. Especially when they ran out of propane for abusing it and then suggesting they use our reserve. And they even shrugged at us for actually HUNTING and smelling a bit like moose and not washing every single day. 2 of them left that day, since with one moose down, they couldn’t hunt anymore. The other 2 that remained, of the father and son, the son was really annoyed to remain. All he wanted was ‘boat riding’ (my father’s boat) and get one so he could leave. More to that, we learned they planned to remain only a week instead of 2.

Day 9: We went on more patrol, taking the day easy, due to the event from the day before. We also took the time to refuel the truck. The other 2 tried to go for a boat patrol but couldn’t since they broke the engine. While the father worked on the engine, my parents asked me to do a patrol with his son since he was alone. A charity patrol as I called it... Well, with my luck, since I was doing charity, my parents found one and succeeded in taking it down. So much for charity and the patrol with him was a total annoyance... I could swear I was with another Bahamut: know everything, do everything… while totally dependant on the others.

Day 10: We headed up to recover the moose and hang it up. They other were slowly packing. That took most of the day while the others were boat patrolling. One thing to say about the father is that he IS a hunter, not much his son though. They saw 2 moose: one caw and her calf. They got the calf, which brought the total to 3 moose.

Day 11 Monday: With the quota there, they quickly packed and left, the really happy to be finally leaving. On our end, we went to my parents’ cache and started packing. That day, one of our friends who went patrolling near the spot where I was the week after managed to kill one BIG of a moose: we mea...

Well, I definitely gave up on AMD pre Athlon and Via Tech chipset.

Of all the machine I've built, none have fried or start crashing as fast fast as a pre-Athlon CPU from AMD and the VIA chipset. And Via is the worse. Even with an intel processor, it was constantly a pain.

Now my server, that ran on a Via board and an AMD CPU is completly out of usage. Random boot lock up and constant reading error. I can't even boot half way without getting a dozen Segmentation fault or a kernel panic.

So my home server, the same one I use for hosting my stuff and developing is out of order. The data on the hard drive seem fine and the main data is mounted as Raid Level 1. I just got to wait for the new mobo to arrive, a Dual Pentium III 933MHz.
And wait for summer to end to be able to have some time to finish everything I have stacked over. At least, the yard work is nearly finished.

Sometime I wonder why I even bother trying to do something for the TF 'communities'.
Sometime, I wonder if it's not overrun by slacking, mamma boy/girl fanboys/girls still on diapers.
Until I tell to myself that there are some great contributors that actually do something good... until those jerks jump on their throat like a hungry dog
on its master.

AGAIN, I was the target of some ad-hominem attack by one of the sub-community (or should I start saying scummunity...)
You know, one of those clique / niches that seem to swarm the transformation fandom? It seem the fandom is full of that shit, and every one of them,
rather than help each other to make the fandom stronger, slap bitch each other or try to do the 'spy vs spy' on each other.

The animal transformation sub-scummunity will calls the AR/AP sub sicko because, since their (the animal one) extremis members only want to be transformed into a donkey to get a big cock and screw everyone ass out, extend this fetish to the others sub.
And since their own fetish involves screwing everything with unrealistic behaviour, well, they apply their own fetish on the AR group and think those are filled with pedophiles.

The female process tf sub will lit torch and burn anyone not in their small club and if you even dare mentioning a good transformation but male, be ready to be treated like shit for not being a crazy zealot single minded on one single type.

The growth sub so focused on same sex ass pumping action with barely any transformation and calling other sub persecutors because they don't want their ass pumping action toy in their sub.

The hub sub that consider themselves the focus point of all sub, trying to gather everyone under the same home, but failing miserably because they have nothing to offer or try to simply lower everyone to the same level.

The mundane sub that are only good to start thread over and over about thing that will never happen, about thing they wish they would get, rather than actually get this butt off their chair and work on something.

And the working sub... those trying to actually make the fandom FUN, worth seeing, with new contents of good quality. Not some rubbish collage book where everything is a bitch to find or create.

Every one of them ALWAYS tries to put down each other. And if you have the misery of belonging to more than one sub, beware. You'll be treated like shit because you're not dedicated at 100% to their small clique.

Why do I bring that up? Last week-end, I was taking a few days off to attend C-Ace, which is a small convention in Ottawa. You know, meet people, do some activity, get sketches done, take the stress off, and have a life!
Well, during my absence, one more clique decided to have a stab at me... AGAIN! First, thanks to the person that brought that to me and second, here's the link to that shit pool (if their database don't crash again) : [link]

Now, nearly 2 years ago, I got pissed of that sub-scummunity attacking each other, and since I was a multi-sub-genre site, I was the miserable person to get all the bullet (Stonegate was lucky enough to have a not working email and be completely invisible online) and closed the site download, leaving it as a media reference site.
I offered a DONATION option so that people could DONATE, not PAY, so that the site could be reborn on a better server, with EVERYTHING available. Slowly, I got enough money for a future deposit once the site is ready and started working on the new site, to include features that some of the people asked.

It's a long task to do ALONE.

Now, because I'm not finish, because those people are too LAZY to actually follow feedback, to gets their ass off their chair and check deviant art for progress, to check my main feedback forum for update, the only thing they can think of and start posting libel about me. I'm a crack junky. I'm a porn addict. I'm a scam artist. Why? Because I don't report to THEM! Well, those 2 little pricks there TF-Viewer and TrunKated, are the typical example of the fucktard tarnishing the fandom and turning communities into scummunities. They feel ripped of because I haven't updated yet, because I haven't finished yet. Let me put things straight.

They claim they PAID for the site and they DESERVE services. WRONG. They probably should go open and dictionary and read the definition of DONATION. When you donate money for cancer research, you don't expect result. You may get result in time, you may not. You DONATE; you don't PAY for a service. But because of their misconception (I'll be polite), they think they deserve to the silver platter. And sorry it's not a mere 11$ that is going to get someone total control over me. As for TrunKat...

Well, I just coded a small thing on my server for my deviantart page.

Since the DA staff can really be stupid when it come to intellectual properties, I decided to do a small workaround. Some may not be aware, but deviantART refuse to honor my proprietary right on 'Dragoniade'. Therefor, they won't allow me to post my commission of MY character. Some bitch even deleted more than 60 of my previous commissions because I was just a generic yellow dragon to her eyes.

Here are the results of the contest. First, I made some changes to the prizes.
Now, the 5th place gets a DVD rather than a CD. Also, I've added a 6th position to the stories, favorites and originality categories.

Short Stories, Originality-Creativity, Personal favorites:
1st prize will win 5 DVD-ROM (~20GB) + Subscriptions
2nd prize will win 3 DVD-ROM (~12GB) + Subscriptions
3rd prize will win 2 DVD-ROM (~8GB) + Subscriptions
4th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (~4GB) + Subscriptions
5th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (~4GB) + Subscriptions
6th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (~4GB)

Quality:
1st prize will win 5 DVD-ROM (~20GB) + Subscriptions
2nd prize will win 3 DVD-ROM (~12GB) + Subscriptions
3rd prize will win 2 DVD-ROM (~8GB) + Subscriptions
4th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (~4GB) + Subscriptions
5th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (~4GB) + Subscriptions

How did I judge the entries? I took a 18 slots grids for each categories. I then judging each pieces and ordering them in each.
Once each slots were filled, I started to eliminate the double, only keeping the top prize and moving the next one on the other categories.

For example, if 1 entry scored 2nd place in favorites, 3rd in originally and 10th in skill, it would keep the 2nd place in favorites and be removed from originality and skill, letting the follower up by one position.

Now the winners:

I particularly loved the details on the transformation, the accuracy and the anatomy details. And it's an alligator transformation, something we don't see often.
Her style was really interesting. Her transformation reminded me of another artist doing similar tf, but ookamichanxxx did it with much more skill and talent than that other artist ever did. Her cameo and reference to the contest were a nice adde touch too. And I got to live the tail growth too
I liked the idea of a mer-dragon me. I already had a feral, anthro (NOT zoomorph) and taur version of my character. I had some thought of an aquatic adaption, but never came with anything solid. That looked good for that, and I liked the extra fins that matched my original pattern. My only quirk is with the tail stereotype. Everyone should know that a tail is an extension of the spine, not of the legs. The 4 fins dolphins ia a good example of that
Most of the transformation received where human to something. This one was a few creatures to creature. And how do you make an orca out of a dragon? It may look a bit static, but for a first time transformation from Okura, that's was a good start.
The contest now over. Now that everything have been received, I shall begin the judging Sunday and I should be able to announce the winner.

Great work everyone.
=======================================

Until the site is up and running, I’ve decided to start a small contest.

The contest :  Transform Dragoniade.

The idea is simple: transforms Dragoniade into something. He can start either as a human, or as any of his dragonic forms. The transformation can be of any type: animals, creatures, body alterations, size changes, etc.

The works will be judged under 4 categories, each independent and three which are arts and 1 that is written. That means that there are 4 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and so on. This way, if you’re not one of the best artists out there, you may win the first prize in another category. The categories are:

Quality: Let the best work win! Details are the key there along with the respect of anatomy and credibility.

Most original or creative work: There, it’s originality that counts. Do a dog TF with a collar and you won’t win. Uses a new specie or a good trigger, and you’ll raise your chance. Be original; don’t repeat what everyone else did over and over. Or don’t invent think out of the magic box that don’t make sense either.

Personal favourite: Well, those are going to be my personal pick. I’m a big fan of dragons, utahraptor, dinosaurs, orca, reptiles and herpetomorph (shape of reptile, like orca for the smoothness and streamlines, to griffons for their avian side). I also like beasts in that same vein. Big beasts like rhino for instance.

Short Stories: While the other 3 are arts, this one is for written work. Remember that English is my second language. So readability, structure and grammar are going to be the main focus. The story shouldn’t be too short, nor should it be too long. They’re called ‘short story’ after all.

You don’t have to stick to one aspect, you can mix diverse transformation: Animal Tf and extra arms body alteration for instance. Mature content? Don’t expect free point by drawing porn: you’ll lose them. Clean nudity is acceptable, cheap nudity isn’t. If you’re not sure, just ask. Sequences are welcome and will add up to the score. But beware, doing 10 crude pictures won’t be a match again a single well done picture.

Now for the prizes:

Each winner gets a 1 year full membership plus:

1st prize will win 5 DVD-ROM (that’s roughly 20 GB of clips)
2nd prize will win 3 DVD-ROM (that’s roughly 12 GB of clips)
3rd prize will win 2 DVD-ROM (8GB)
4th prize will win 1 DVD-ROM (4GB)
5th prize will win 1 CD-ROM (700 Megs)

All DVD will be burned using Taiyo Yuden DVD, the best DVD media available on the market. The deadline will be on April 20th. Winner will be announced 1 week after. I can be contacted by instant messager or by email. The email is dragoniade (a t) videotron (d.o.t) ca

All categories are independent. That means there’s a total of 15 prizes. 3rd party entries are welcome, so you can submit art for a friend or ask a friend to participate for you. But both parties and I must be aware of it.

You know...
Initially I never intended to let users 'Rate' a picture because it may start a popularity war among artists and discourage promising artists to post. But after seeing how some person are so over protective over their favorite artists and how some of those artists are using bad porns just to attract cheap popularity, I think I'll reconsider. Some of the latest chat with people and the latest few on Transfur were what changed my mind.

So I've decided I'll allow people to rate arts on the site gallery... if they have the mature content flag on. I know that mature content will be filtered and under quotas, but I'll rather see good nudity or accurate representation over craps. And rating will come with a 128 letters or less quick, anonymous remarks.

So "artists" could expect : "Nice anatomy work." on good work and "Crocodiles and dragons don't have scrotum nor sheath. Learn your anatomy next time." on crappy works. However, remarks such as "You're a whore bitch. Stop drawing that crap and learn to draw" would be subject to deletion.

It’s been 1 week since C-Ace. I think it was my best con up to date. More fun than the previous Anthrocon I had. Reliable and not selfish roommates sure made a change. The room are sure better too; cots and plenty of space for them make it easier to have people stay. And the micro-wave make meals easier to plan.

I left on Friday morning and went to pick Wallaby, Strike and Poop. After struggling to get out of Montréal downtown, we drove to the Ottawa without problem (even though Stripe’s card game predicted a bad drive and bad con). But we got there way too earlier. I first though the dealers room setup started at 10h00, but it was the Op setup. More so, the room weren’t ready and wouldn’t be until after noon. So we put the stuff back to the car, went to eat then wandered about. Brian later went to setup his table and I headed to the dealers room with Wallaby. I met the people there, left my first set of sketchbook and wandered around. There weren’t much people yet, and the room was half empty. The dealers’ room closed at 19h00. We went to our room, ordered pizza then headed to the opening chocolate degustation. It was nice (and tasty) and after the gathering, I stayed with Wallaby to meet some of the people there, and left my sketchbook to them for a quick sketchbook rotation.

The next day, I went to pick up my sketchbook. I picked the first one from Heather Bruton. For a change, I asked a transformation of my character. I brought a character sheet of various creatures to pick from, and she decided to do my feral dragon from into a griffin. On the second round, I decided to focus more on transformation this time. Kim Léveillé did a 2 page dragon transformation of me; I left 2 sheets of my sketchbook to Zeralia for a 2 pages TF sequence. She wanted some reference of me, so I took a (goofy) picture of me, went to the photo shop next street and get a sample for her. I took 2 copies, and since I really liked how the TF from Heather turned out, I went back to her with the picture and asked a self TF into an orca.

One thing about Heather is that she is good and fast. The orca TF really turned out good and I left my sketchbook to Nebby for another self TF. She picked the naga as a TF target. Lizardman asked me if I could something from Max Blackrabbit, like a werewolf TF, so I stopped to his table and left my sketchbook for a 2 pages werewolf TF sequence and a self TF into a griffin / garuda. I also attended MissMonster sculpting panel. He gave some advice and talked about her experiences. I was really saddened to learn that the magnificent Godzilla sculpture got destroyed on delivery. I really wish I could afford her for Dragoniade sculpture the same size of that Godzilla, but now, that would be like 500$.

Sunday was the last day. I managed to get 2 more sketches from Heather, for a total of four. She said I was the one who got the most commission from her at the con. Which is what I liked on this con, it’s smaller. So I stopped by Max’s table to check out the sketchbook, but it was still on the todo list. So I left my other sketchbook around to kill time. When the con closed, we gave our goodbyes to everyone and waited for Max to finish my sketchbook.

We headed back to Montréal. The drive was more complicated on the way back. I jam upon entering the province because of a crash between a transport bus and 3 cars. We lost about half an hour there. Then upon entering Montréal, the Ville Marie Tunnel was closing at 20h00. It was 19h45 and yet, they announced it right upon entering the highway to it. And the stupid city official decided it was smart to put a car shield between the highway and the tunnel, lowering the speed to 5-10 km/h up to the tunnel. While there would have been plenty of time for the traffic to go through, they blocked the whole highway with the stupid slow down. That’s totally stupid. It’s Sunday. It’s Québec national 3 days week-end. People RETURNS to Montréal on Sunday. It is NOT the time to close the main access to downtown. And it’s not the time to close the Jacque cartier bridge either. Stupid firework on Sunday. That’s why I’m so glad to be out of that nightmare and money drain that is Montréal City.

So I left Brian, Wallaby and Stripe to their place, struggled with a closed bridge, a blocked main road by tourism, to head back home 1 hour late.

But overall, it really was a great con and I really enjoyed the company I had.

A bit delayed, but since I went back from Further Confusion 2006, I’ve been really busy and didn’t manage to get a quick summary of what I did.

On the first day, we registered, then walked around visiting. I left my sketchbook to Dark Natasha and she drew a nice drawing of my dragontaur form. Dark Natasha is one of the best dragon artists I know. Her dragon are well, really dragon looking. Not one of those pseudo dragons, those sorry excuses for a generic monster. I left the other two to Ken Puma and Gideon. Ken did a really nice back shot of my were-dragon form, with a nice tail shot (muur, tail) while Gideon did a beefed up version of my feral dragon. We spend some time looking at the dealers' room and some of the events. We left by 5 PM or so, heading back to Stonegate's house.

The next day, I left my sketchbook to Caribou, Ikiu, Kioth and Ratbat. Caribou and Ikiu did my were dragon form though Ikiu’s one was rather sketchy. Still nice though. Kioth and Ratbat did my feral dragon form. I like how Ratbat drew it. She drew me acting like a rooster, all compacted and neck on the body
I later meet RaptonX and Chris Sawyer. I left my sketchbook to Chris to do a transformation of me. We spent some time with Rapton and attended a small dragon theme activity. We spent some time after in the game room, waiting for our sketchbook.

The third way was quick. I got my sketchbook from Chris where he drew a nice Dragon TF. Then I left my other sketchbook to Serinoth and Lady Foxglove, who respectively drew my were and feral forms. I’m a bit disappointed on the first one though. For the price I paid, I was expecting a sketch less hurried up. I brought my PS2 to the con and managed to play a bit of Project Altered Beast. People really liked it, considering the content: TF and furries We all laugh at the TF and the popping eyes! We spent more time with Rapton before heading out.

On the last day, I left my sketchbook to Thrivis and Teverant who both drew my were form. It’s nice to see how both people see my character. Jennifer O’Meara drew a really cute drawing of my feral dragon and I left my sketchbook to Susan Van Camp who shipped my sketchbook back to me in Canada with a nice were dragon. The day went quick and I saw Cameroo. Sadly, since he was busy, we barely managed to meet. I also got disappointed by one of the artist that day. At the beginning of the day, I noticed that Roy D. Pounce wasn’t having much activity and stopped by his table for a sketch. He first agreed to try it, but when I asked for my dragontaur, he backed away for no reason. That’s really disappointing to get that kind of response (or lack of response) from someone. Especially since there seem not to be any reason? The subject wasn’t appropriate for him? I wouldn’t think so, considering he’s done dragon and taurs plenty of time before.

The few remaining day, I spent them visiting the area, working on the site with Stonegate, restoring his lost files, visiting the pier of Chicago and an old submarine. Sadly, Marine World was closed; otherwise I sure would have liked to visit. I went back home after 10 days of vacation and the trip back was really better than my arrival trip.

I’m not sure if I’ll be heading next year. Stonegate would like to see me back, but sadly, plane tickets to California are really expensive. Also, while the con is big, driving back and forth each day and not sleeping there really kill some of the fun of the con. A lot of the activities occur between people AFTER the open hours: room parties, etc. I really missed those.

Seeing how deviantArt's staff are good at enforcing their selfmade law and breaking it for their friends, I was thinking of making a small script to keep my account 'up to date'. A small script that would check if the art of my characters has been removed, and if some are missing, automatically re-upload them all.

If deviantArt allows bribes and favoritism, I don't see why I'm in the wrong. I'm refering, of course, to them allowing their staff to post fanarts and the people who buy a subscriptions. Why is the kid who pay a subscriptions is allowed to post trace of 3rd parties characters which they don't own, but the creator of a character he created can't post the art he had other put on paper his vision?

I'm really starting to get feed up with deviantART and their bubble head policies.

It has been more then 2 months since that rogue moderator and her friends pulled out ALL of the artworks of my characters. Why? Because the current policies are hypocritical and the people that are supposed to enforce it seem to be live in their own bubble world.

First, they claim they defend copyrights. They are wrong. They only defend one party. They will protect the person who draw a character and recognize they create something. But they will not recognize the person who created a character. This is totally WRONG. And how cans a site claiming to protect and enforce copyright rules can do it with a straight face when they allow fanarts? This is a total disrespect of one aspect of copyright: Intellectual Properties.

And yet, when confronted, the only answer they can come up with is: Copyright protection doesn't cover 'generic' characters. Who the hell are they to judge that my character is a generic yellow dragon?

My character is a GOLD dragon to start with. Silv'ah is a SILVER dragoness. His golden wings have bluish shading on the inner surface; his toes got a sickle claw. His live started as a human with a draconic soul that got awaken in a far away land. His pilgrimage lasted over 10 years before he ascended to the perfect balance between both species, where he meets and lose Silv'ah to the hands of a blinded and jealous pantheon.

The lack of knowledge about a character isn't a valid defence to claim that a character is generic. It's not because someone haven't read, saw or heard about a character that it doesn't exist. Heck, if someone, who never heard about the Hulk, creates a character who got bombarded as a baby about Gamma Ray and then turn into a huge green monster, then claim in court that he never heard about the Hulk. I don't think his defence will rest his case.

And on my defence, I would guess that more than 65 pictures of my character would sufficient proof that this isn't a generic yellow, no, GOLD, dragon.

I'm really getting feed up with the poor support and hypocritical policies deviantART is running. While the single person at the help desk has been really cooperative, the administrator and director showed how poor their policies and their knowledge of copyright are.

I'm really pondering about leaving deviantART and asking that ALL of the art of my characters be removed, from every artist who drew me an posted my character here. Why can't I post my character without their permission while they can post my character without MY permission? It's sad it had to come to his, but deviantART really think they can make their own rules about copyright.

The ban has finally been lifted. Not because my issue with the Policy Violation Team has been resolved, but because I got @$%@#$ tired of waiting for them to actually do something. It has been about a month since my arts has been pulled and nothing ever since.

Last week, I learned that a bunch of the staff got kicked out for abusing their position, and the main responsable of that affair has been kicked out as well.
It's a small victory, as my arts is still not back. And the director that I've contacted wasn't much better than the ex-administrator that played the janitor and sweeped everything out, by only posting more 'FAQ' reference rather than actually opening the case.

Now, I don't know if that director got kicked out with the rest of the staff or not.
I'm not going to let the case slip though. The journal may be gone (It's silly how I had to remove it because I was naming one of the administrator... who is no longer one), but the comment everyone posted are still here.

Here again, no thanks for the Help Desk FAQ page. If it wasn't for a friends asking directly one of the Help Staff, I would have never known that comments don't get deleted when the parent journal gets deleted. Integrity wise, this is a poor decision, as that create quite a bunch of orphans.

Without much ado, here's your discussion about the art removal and administration issue, without the stuff that got me suspended.

To see everything, it's have to view the comments in 'Flat' mode. To change that, go to the 'Devious Comments' section, and in View, select "Flat" instead of Nested, Threaded or None. This will display all comments, parents, childs and sibbling, to that one.

Ok. I’ve had enough. Some people are really great at ruining someone evening. First I browse and notice someone posted yet another sequence showing blatant lack of skill, poorly drawn porn which clearly shown the artist still haven’t put any effort learning anatomy on both human and animal. That kind of work show how slacking the artist is. Yet the first comments it get are such things as: “What a piece of art!”, “You’re a goddess”, “You’re the best of the TF”. Such comment promoting cheap, unskilled, too stubborn and lazy to improve artists whose work shown they prefer do cheap work for fan than actually improve themselves.

Then I’m shown a posting on a forum, where the same people licking her feet (for not saying the ‘A’ word) are putting us down. We’re not good enough. We’re lazy. The site is not as it used to be. They’re pissed because they don’t get the clip they want. We’re going downhill.

Don’t you people realize that we now have about 5 GB of stuff online? The top before the change was like 3.5 GB.
Do you people realize how much time it take to monitor, track, record, capture, edit, encode, then databases all the stuff?

Do you people realize how long it takes grabbing 800 thumbnails from clip, to get their size and checksum to insure their integrity, tracking which episode it is from and keeping the episode list updated?

Do you realize how much it cost to keep up to date with new release on DVD? How much it cost to get a PVR and digital TV to have access to the TF media? That the PVR I got costed me 250$?

Do you realize that constant capturing / encoding are damaging hard drives and it cost me at least 1 HD a year to replace the one that may fail. Do you realize the cost of the hundreds of DVD disks and the extra HD I have to purchase for backup and storage?

Do you realize that reliable hosting doesn’t come cheap, and that we’ve been lucky to have Kyreeth offering us free bandwidth and space on his server? Do you realize that he also lost his free hosting option and is now paying from his own pocket, thus that the site future rests on his generosity?

Do you realize how frustrating it is to see leech, fan boys and creep licking others butt because they’re updating with cheesy, cheap, wanking material for easy fan boys, while you work your ass to get something working, reliable and professional. Seeing how someone won’t work to improve themselves when you put the effort to increase the quality (the moving from half-screen to full screen capture had a cost).

From the last few days, it seems you don’t. And it’s getting irritating. People talking on our back; lamenting about not getting their fetish relieved; taking cheap shot at us. Offering solutions that would only ensure they get their stuff then go away. According to the database, there are about 12 thousands users and I estimate that only 3200 are real user and not sock-puppets for the poll (who actually downloaded more than 100 Megs). Out of those 3200 users, only about 4-5 persons actually shown interest to the site and offered something back in either arts or media for the site. And I’m sick of it

My birthday is in less than a month (November 12th). I’m really thinking about pulling the plug on the AVI once and for all. Those people who complained because they wouldn’t get their clip won’t be complaining anymore: there won’t be any clips at all. If thinks don’t change until then, if we don’t see some ‘love’, then the clips go. Period! The site won’t be a clips archive; the site won’t become a TF critic site. The site will become a TF media database and will only list what is found in what show.

Thanks Keanu and John for the gift arts for the site. Thanks Lizardman for the box of DVD for the site. Thanks Dragonfan for the gift arts. Thanks TFProxy and Lizardman for that nice gift sequence. Thanks Justin for that box of DVD. Thanks for the others I’m forgetting who did more than just asking for clips were and actually were offering support to those who actually try to work on the community. You’ll be always welcome. As for the others... November 12th is the deadline. You have no idea what to do? You want total about it? Then you’re invited to join the forum. Since our current forum isn’t done to handle such thread, I’m moving the discussion to the Metamorphorum until I can manage to update the site forum to something better.
