To the Modern Warfare unsavvy, gaining a level in this game's competitive multiplayer is a lot like gaining a level in your typical RPG, only a little bit faster. It takes me about two matches to gain a level, or one if I complete challenges and get experience bonuses. The maximum level you can reach is 70, but you can start all over again from scratch and earn what's called a Prestige, which really is nothing more than an insignia and bragging rights.

Some people have already Prestiged and are at level 40 again or higher.

These people need to go outside and lay off the Cheetos.

Or get a job.

My gun hobby is going strong and I've become quite the OPERATOR OPERATOR. I'll be attending a gun show in Saratoga Springs, NY this Friday the 28th. I'm on the hunt for a Mosin Nagant, or the Moist Nugget as some call it.

What's really interesting about this old rifle is that because it uses corrosive ammo, you have to pour boiling hot water down the barrel and Windex the sucker to get the crap out of the barrel. Jesus Crust, I'm hesitant to shoot my M4 (another new toy of mine) out in the rain let alone pour a bucket of boiling water down it. But hey, those are antiques for ya'.

In more depressing news, I've been laid off from my job. But to be honest, as good as the money was, I'm glad I was shitcanned from that hellhole. Having to bodyslam criminally insane and violent mentally challenged lunatics has done a number on my blood pressure and I'm not entirely sure how long I could have stayed in that place anyway what with all the corruption and bureaucratic BS going on. There's a security position I know of that I'd like to have elsewhere, but until then, I'll settle for some part-time stuff and enjoy the down time. Maybe I'll even start drawing again? As soon as I get over my intimidation of much, much better artists than myself, that is...

As for coyotes, I had to chase one away from the front of my house. It was in the process of killing someone's cat right there on my front steps. Shit was NOT cash.

Christmas was pretty good for me this year. Instead of going with the usual games 'n movies combo however, I decided on something a little more practical. Inspired by all the hooplah surrounding the 2nd Amendment and President-Elect Barack Obama's desire to ban assault weapons nationwide, I had Santa bring me two interesting items. A Saiga .223, and a Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader 12-gauge. I'll have to post some tacticool pics at some point.

November is proving to be an interesting month. Gears of War 2 is coming out, my b-day is on the 14th, I'll be getting a job that will FINALLY allow me to live on my own, and we've learned that the American presidential electoral process still works after all. Also, my drawing skills are really starting to come together on this new tablet pc of mine. I can say with confidence that I've really come a long way since those days I (badly) used colored pencils which, to this day, still look like crayon when used by me. XD

Also, I am completely and utterly addicted to Dead Space. The Necromorphs are fucking terrifying and the sounds of violence and mechanical failure that fills the air aboard the Ishimura really immerses you into the game. And when you die, you realistically die in gruesome ways I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemies.

Somebody get this game away from me. Please.

I suppose I was, in a sense. My old piece of crap computer finally decided it was time to move onto greener pastures and proceeded to make itself an hero. My current job is also a bit demanding of my time, so the combination of the two really monkey stomped me when it came to doing any artwork.

Fortunately, I recently bought myself a Lenovo Thinkpad x61 tablet pc. So far, I haven't been able to pry myself away from it. And to make it even more badass, I downloaded an SNES emulator on it so I could replay all of my old games from when I was young and stupid.

What I REALLY love about this thing, however, is that I don't have to deal with all the little annoyances that come with paper. Going through pencils like Darth Vader goes through Turtle Wax, tracing the sketch, scanning the line art, and cleaning up the smudges (which is obvious I never do =3). Oh, and saving trees is pretty cool to. I can skip all those annoyances by drawing directly on the screen, which I must admit makes me feel like I'm playing a DS that's been blown up fifty times its original size. It'll take some getting used to, but I'm slowly becoming more efficient at using the Wacom pen like a real pencil.

Sooo... when can you expect to see more art from me? More importantly, BETTER art? Pretty soon, I imagine. With the all the extra little tricks this tablet pc gives me, I've become dissatisfied with my original drawing style. I'd like to move onto something more anime-ish; a drawing style that's fairly uniform, yet flexible, and capable of reducing the size of Drak's ridiculously large nose. XD

Oh well. is working on something as sort of a gift from me to all of you. It'll be a little while longer though. He's a busy guy and I've been broke up until now. XD

A sappy day like V-Day always put me in a horror loving mood, so I'd like to take a moment to address an important subject that's near and dear to me:

-SPLATTERHOUSE-

Namco, I don't care how scared you are concerning the recent controversy around Manhunt 2 and other violent games. I want new Splatterhouse, and I want it sometime before 2010!

... but take your time on it. Put a lot of love and tender care into it. Make it for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and make the combat gory, gritty, visceral, and deep. Continue the Splatterhouse tradition of a wide variety of weapons by allowing objects to be improvised weapons, like ripping a lead pipe out of a wall or grabbing a chair and smashing it over a ghoul's head. Hell, make it so you can use a ghoul's carcass as a weapon!

Oh, and make it a remake of the first one, WITH a detailed story and plot! And for the love of all things unholy, Rick had better still be a badass!

It seems like all the people I want to commission are either away doing something, or are backed up on commission request lists that circle entire city blocks. I guess that's what happens when you get good.

So to anyone whom is interested, I am looking for someone who likes money and can draw me some stuff. To give you an idea of what kind of drawing style I'd like to see, here's a few artists I originally thought about approaching:



Don't worry, I don't want anything pr0nographic. But being able to draw sexy things certainly wouldn't hurt, despite no real nudity being involved in what I have in mind. The most I'm looking to spend per pic is $25, but I have more than one idea in mind that I'd like to see illustrated. Just got back from the holiday family get-together at my grandmother's. EVERYBODY was there, even my band mates! It sucked that it was so short though. The babies (including my nephew) got cranky rather quickly and had to be taken home, so we were only there for maybe... I dunno', 3 1/2 hours? Still, it was pretty cool to have so many of my friends and relatives in one place while we usually only have small family Christmases with only closer relatives.

From all the reviews I've read of it, this is THE best Mario game since SM64. I know I'll be getting it since everyone else is and it's a must-play, but how are the controls? I'm still trying to get used to the fact that playing with the Wiimote and 'Chuk is like taking a regular controller, snapping it in half over your knee, and playing with the remnants.

Also, I'm officially getting a gut. >_< I think it's that damn "winter storage" that happens in quite a few people. Unfortunately the ground outside is freezing over so I can't really jog, and the elliptical is out of commission so I can't use that either. Therefore, I've made a nightly workout regimen:

50 sit-ups
50 push-ups
10 rounds of Wii Boxing

Doesn't sound like much, but don't knock it 'till you try it. It was painful just typing this journal.

1.) I sing in the car. A lot. In fact it's how I practice my vocals while away from the band, seeing as how I can crank it up to 11 without annoying everyone else in the house. However, I pause whenever another car is coming from the opposite lane to avoid awkwardness.

2.) I'm what you would call a "backyard samurai". I practice tameshigiri (katana test-cutting using rolled up straw mats) during the evening on slow weekends. Because my back fence faces a street, I sometimes get a small audience. No one has called the police yet, probably because I'm good. XP

3.) I'm reluctant to draw at times, hence the long periods between updates. I'm a perfectionist that can't stand making small mistakes, and so I get stressed out when drawing a pic. This is why I tend to give commissions rather than just draw things myself. Besides, I love seeing my ideas come to life through truly gifted illustrators. Plus, they get money. Everyone wins.

4.) I consider myself to be a soda connoisseur. *lol* Name a soft drink, and I'll tell you that I have more than likely had it at least twice. In spite of this fact, I have only had one cavity in my lifetime.

5.) No one besides myself has ever graduated from college in my family. Also, I am the first in my family to travel halfway across the country on my own.

6.) The number 6 is my lucky number.

7.) Onto my beliefs. I've accepted the idea that I am a misanthrope; a person with a general dislike and distrust for the entire human race. This doesn't mean I hate EVERYONE, though. I simply feel that we could do a lot better as a whole, is all. I also believe in the transhumanistic view, in that we have a right to better ourselves mentally and physically through science and technology. I respect all religions, but I make an effort to not hold myself to a single one due to the fact that I don't believe there should be "One Religion to Rule Them All". I'm undecided when it comes to believing in the existence of gods or one god. They could exist, or perhaps not... I suppose that makes me an Agnostic.

8.) My favorite foods are fruit, bread (except banana bread), soups, and pretty much anything with noodles of some kind. I can't stand seafood, especially shellfish. I refuse to eat anything that looks like a man-eating insect from Mars.

I did, however, finally manage to get a copy of Robert Matheson's "I Am Legend". For something that was written in the 50's, its a surprisingly action-y book. It reads very much like the various zombie survival stories lying around the internet. One story in particular, "Autumn" by David Moody, springs to mind. It can be found for free if you just do a search for it... the first book, anyway. I can't wait to see the new film adaptation for I Am Legend coming up in December. The lead role of Neville will be played by Will Smith, so I know it's going to be a decent movie at the very least.

Oh, and Halloween is coming pretty soon. I'm psyched for that. Maybe I should start drawing again to pass the time? I definitely want to give my character a new look for the Halloween season and I have a good idea of what his new outfit will be like. I'd like to give someone a commission for the big reveal, but who? So many choices, so many people I like. >_<

What to say, what to say. Well, as you can see, I'm not much of an illustrator compared to my friends.

That's alright though. I'm more of a writer than anything else. Besides, I like to give back to the Yoshi community by having my friends do commissions 'n stuff. So if you draw Yoshi and I like your style, expect some money from me eventually.

You probably want to know some more personal things about me, don't you? Alright then.

Lately I've been practicing with my band, called Myxed Breed. I'm doing lead vocals and as of late we've been working on a cover for Loverboy's "Take Me to the Top". If you're not into Loverboy, just know that it wasn't my decision to do this song. *lol* I'm into the heavier stuff myself, but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices to keep the rest of the guys happy. I'm having some minor troubles getting my normally deep voice high enough to match Mike Reno's, but I'm sure I can manage in the end. Coincidentally, Loverboy is doing a gig at a county fair in my area this weekend. I should definitely take the guys and see how the real deal does things. Who knew rock and roll included homework?
