It was indoors, so I really had to bump my ISO up to get enough light, but a few pictures look surprisingly decent, so I'll be uploading them once I get PS installed again. (Just installed Windows 7. Need to reinstall all my programs...)

Tomorrow is outdoors at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and it's supposed to be sunny, so I'll get a shitload of pics there.

China's display was probably the best, but that was a little predictable.

South Africa had the weather on their side though..
I got soaked that night taking pictures in the pouring rain, with no lightning pictures to tell about it.

For future fireworks, I'll definitely have to get either a better tripod or a remote, because I think my tripod isn't designed for keeping anything better than a $100 camera steady. I really had to keep my hand steady when taking pictures to minimize the shake..

On a side-note: Sand can be very comfy.

Keeping in mind that I find photography that gives you tons of time to get a picture to be a little boring..
I was thinking of something like bike/car racing photography, but I'll probably need a press pass to get anything decent.

Snowboard season's over, so that just leaves me with paintball photography.
..Although apparently there are airsoft days at my local field, so I'll have to check that out. Not having to worry about paint getting in my camera sounds nice to me.

On a side note, my first shot with my newly set up paintball marker was an elimination!
..and I deserved it. I was waiting 10 minutes in a semi-uncomfortable position looking through my red-dot when I saw a head coming around, my gun went "Thwump", and the guy's goggles went "Splat".
It was immensely satisfying.

Also, I'll be taking pictures next Saturday and shall be at Hired Guns: Road to Valhalla scenario game (Sept. 21), so expect some more uploads.

I didn't go to the Hired Guns paintball game because I figured I'd be getting hit every 2 seconds, even as a photographer, but apparently that's not the case, so I'll probably going to the next one, which is...next month?
I usually take 300+ pictures at events, so you can expect some more pictures in August.
..and if my fellow combat photographers are there, I might get a new ID with my D80 instead of my puny Sony camera.

Also, if anyone has some good ideas on how to protect my camera from paint, hit me up.
I'm not really concerned about the impact itself though.
I'm more concerned about paint getting in the camera.
I'd rather not wreck an 800 dollar camera body.

It's a Nikon D80 with a 70-300mm lens, thanks to my dad.

Not entirely sure when I'm getting it, but when I do, I'll waiting at the start of the closest paintball game.

Mass Effect has the most intrusive protection system I've ever heard of, but all it does is annoy the people who legitimately buy it.
It only gives you three tries to install in, and takes off one if you change anything in your computer hardware.
After three tries, you have to call EA to ask for another activation.

Also, apparently, it connects to the internet every 10 days to check whether your game is legit.

But...a crack was released a week later which circumvented everything and makes downloaded copies work.

I'll be taking some more pictures at the paintball field on Saturday, so I can see how it performs "in action".
It has an advanced sports mode which predicts where the the moving subject will be next, and adjust the focus, so that should come in handy for paintball photography.
..It also has a pretty decent video recording feature.

So yeah...expect some more photography in the future.

The whole part leading to the ending was a bit...strange, but it's a great game none the less.

You get to jump across rooftops, get knocked off rooftops by pissed off soldiers, punch annoying beggars, assassinate some evil fat dude, break bones, execute flashy kills, and other such goodness.

Also, it's the definition of a free-roam game. Anything that looks climbable, is climbable.

The animations in the game are amazing. That combined with the atmosphere makes it seem like you're actually involved in the battles, not just sitting behind a computer screen.

The multiplayer is intense, but the ranking up goes way too fast, and the upgrades could use some fixing.

Still, it's an awesome game.

Only took me....nearly 3 years.

The views really shot up when I started uploading more 3d models. O.o

On a side note: I finally bought Portal off Steam.
It's so damn fun.
I finished the game in 2 hours, but there are also "advanced" maps, challenges, and the ability to make/import custom maps, so it's definitely worth the money.

Next I'll get...Call of Duty 4?

..Hmm.

On another side note: I talked to Ms. Wit, and apparently the 3D section will be divided into two parts: One for "composition", which would include things made in Poser, Terragen, etc., and one for actual self-made 3d models and such.
No more seeing creepy images of humongous fat women in the 3D stream.
..Or 5 billion images of tied up girls.

Urgh.

I can run it without a hitch on Medium settings with a sub-par computer.

..It's kind of like FarCry, except..better. You can customize your rifle on the fly (including guns you pick up), and use Speed, Strength, Armor, and Stealth abilities.
The psychics are awesome too. You can jump on shacks with the strength ability on, the smash your way through the roof to kill the occupants. Or you can spray a bunch of bullets at thin trees and watch them fall...onto an unlucky opponent. Grabbing a guy and throwing him into another dude is fun too..


On a side note; I'm back to working on my Ak-47. It was going fairly smoothly until I started working on the cocking handle..
I'll put a WIP up once I'm done with that part.

1. Daily deviants.
Have you seen any of them lately? Half of them don't even deserve a "Minutely Deviation" (no offense). I've seen a couple drawings which even I could've done better..
..and then they always have these lame excuses for why it's featured.


2. The 3D section.
Most of it's either misplaced, or ripped from some game/program. I've seen an increased amount of IMVU avatars being put in here.
The overload of Poser models is rather annoying too. I'm not exactly ripping on Poser users, but to me, it all looks the same.

Bah.

I'm tired.

PS: I hate waiting at the exchange in the bus while the sun is blazing in my face.
