I've started one custom but she's fairly basic, just apoxy hair with sculpted roses in her mane and tail. But I can't think of what else to do with her ;_;
This is where I need help. Any idea on sculpting, embellishment, anything at all would be greatly appreciated!
She's a pink G3 in the diva pose, I'd quite like similar colours to prevent a full body repaint!

I'm also on the look-out for ideas for projects over the summer. So far I've come up with a merpony with wings...either sculpted feather wings or fairy wings. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

No job yet and as I have no money I can't really go out or do anything! Customising is great and I've got loads done but I want a job! I need the money, plus it'll get me out of the house...
Well, hopefully something will turn up soon I've got a couple of things in the works - I'm currently being security cleared so I can do temporary admin work at the local prison, plus hopefully another temp agency will get me trained this week for some warehouse work...but I don't think I can spend much more time in my room/around the house before I go totall insane.
Or is it too late already?!

I was more than a little shocked, mainly because I hadn't actually considered it. I joke about "why I didn't do an essay based degree?" but the idea that I'm actually on the wrong course for my talents didn't even occur.

Couple of uncomfortable truths came to light during the ensuring discussion, the most important one being that I'm not actually very talented within the field of art and design. I enjoy it, sure, I love drawing and I love making things but that doesn't mean I'm good enough to have a career in it. I am, however, talented with words. I love writing. Always have done, I saw an old teacher from my primary school just before Easter and she asked if I was still wanting to become a journalist. Funny how she'd remembered what I'd forgotten - writing really was my first love.
Essays are easy for me - same with written exams, personal statements and the like. I'm good at them.
I'm mildy obsessed with correct grammar and spelling, to the point that I find it hard to have a conversation with someone who uses text speak online. People who do that generally get shouted at
I've won two competitions with written work; the essays that got me sent to Japan were written the night before the deadline.
Art was one of my least favourite subjects at school, as well as one of my weakest whilst English and Classics were always so much more enjoyable and, frankly, I was fairly good at them too.

Am I a total idiot or what?
How long has it been staring me in the face that maybe I'm more of an academic than an artist?
Why, exactly, am I only just realising what Mutti has always known; I'm just not suited to art and design?

Whilst I love the practial side of the jewellery degree, I just don't enjoy the rest of it. At all. I equally can't see myself going through 2 more years of this without going totally insane. That's not to say I want to give it up totally but the degree just isn't working. An evening course or something would be much better - I'd get the fun of making shiny things without the hassle of trying to be innovative and creative 24/7. I'm creative, just not enough.

Anyway, the upshot of this lot is that I'm probably going to be finishing this year at the jewellery school and then switching to something like Ancient Civilisations or English - hopefully at Birmingham uni. If I'm too late to apply for the coming academic year then I'll probably just stay in Birmingham and work for the year, try and get some savings together!

I lay in bed until about 3am this morning mulling things over in my head and the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. I have missed my writing so much. I've missed having "proper" work to do - writing notes and essays, answering questions and just generally learning about something I love. I want to have work with defined start and end points - this constant exploration of ideas is pissing me off!

Anyhoo, I'm off to cook some pizza and ignore work some more

Customs in progress:
Gaia - pegasus comission (G1). Wire frame constructed, base feathers applied.
Summer Sun - yellow G3 pony with red sun shoes (apoxy sculpt) and sculpted flowers. Shoes are sculpted and partly painted.
Unnamed unipeg - Yellow G3 unicorn with miniature apoxy wings. Wings nearly finished!
Unnamed pony - metallic blue G3 with sculpted boots and socks. Socks need repainting (boiling water = bane of my life) and hair needs taming, finished apart from that!

I'm slowly trying to build up stock for PonyCon ([link]) later in the year, but I've got Gaia, plus her sister and brother to make before then! Hm...maybe I should just skip uni next term...

It's currently terrifying me. Joy.
Thing is, I still -really- want to do it.
But I like my hair.

I keep going hot and cold over the whole thing, usually within the space of 5 minutes >.< Any HELPFUL advice would be great, please no "OMGZ you can't shave off your hair, you'll look like a BOY! Oh noez!" Seriously, I've had enough of that already.

Pros:
Get to see what I look like with no hair (well, it's a pro for me )
Do my hair a load of good when it grows back.
Hair is fairly short anyway so it should grow back relatively quickly.
I get to prove to the various sceptics in Brum that yes, I AM a natural blonde. I just have dark eyebrows
I raise a huge amount of money for charity - I think sponsorship has almost reached the £200 mark.
I get to scare grown-ups and make small children laugh.
Save loads of money because I won't be A. dying or b. cutting it.
I like how short hair feels - I used to stroke my step-dad's head when I was little because it felt cool.
I generally like short hair.
I'd find the inevitable assumptions that I'm gay amusing.
I won't feel like I've let everyone down (I hate backing out of stuff).
It could really suit me.
I love it when I get my hair cut and my head feels so much lighter.

Cons:
I love my hair, it's fun to dye and it suits me as it is.
Could take up to a year to grow back.
Walking into uni on monday could be horrible. "Self-concious" doesn't quite cover it.
I may well end up looking like a bloke. I have nothing against how blokes look, but I'm very definatly female and proud...despite Sam's habit of calling me a "man beast" >.>
I'm afraid of what my nearest and dearest will think. VERY stupid because everyone's being so fantastically supportive...but I worry about such things.


Now I've managed to talk myself into it again!
The liklihood is that it WILL happen, but please any thoughts on the subject would be great
Also any more sponsorship would be appreciated
