A set of hour long panels dedicated to helping you come home with the best photos possible from con!



Posing in Cosplay: How to make your photos from con be BETTER photos*
If you’re tired of coming home from con hating all the photos you see, come out to the panel! We’re cosplayers and photographers with a decade of experience between us, and we’ll give you tips on everything from fabric pitfalls (like matching colours and dealing with vinyl) to posing tips to make you look good – posing like a girl, like a boy, like a kid, like an alien, like your character. We’ll teach you how to flatter your figure in front of the camera from head to toe, whether you’re in hakama or 20 pounds of armor.
We’ll also cover posing with a prop (always tricky) and posing with a group (without looking like a bunch of stiffs!)

The panel covers hallway cosplay shots and photos with your friends first- since we all know that’s where most of your con photos come from! We then cover how to work with a more seasoned photographer, and the best ways to work in a photoshoot to get the photos you really want.

*most of the time. No promises given for that creepy guy who takes your picture while you eat lunch. Ugh.

If you want to know how people like Stillvisions and I take the photos that we do, or just want to know how to make your photos more interesting, come check us out! We cover not only the basics (rule of thirds, lighting and composition) but also how to create interest, tension, and storytelling in your photos. Directed at people who want to do more than just snap a shot in a hallway, we cover locations in a con, working with cosplayers both singly and in a group, posing people and working with props and difficult situations. We’ll discuss how to showcase people to look their best and of course the dozens of pitfalls to avoid while you’re behind the camera.
Our panel is NOT gear specific and everyone is welcome, from simple point and shoot Kodak users to those with full DSLR kits. What we’ll show you can beused instantly at con, so bring your camera and plan to have some fun!

*Or at least, photos you like more and other people think are kinda cool.


I promise a very entertaining set of panels- we’ve been running these for a while, and we find that a set in stone timeline a little too restrictive to audience participation, so we’re very freeform. (We’ll also show you the mistakes we’ve made. THAT’s always fun!)
