I'm... speechless, ladies and gents... Ok I know I KNOW how many times I've spammed your accounts with journals about this or that vid featuring my work, this or that blog showcasing my deviations blah blah blah.. I'm horrible I know.
But I just.. can't help feeling *deeply* moved by those complete strangers (not anymore) who are touched by my works, inspired, who find in them something that makes them.. happy! And it's really beautiful when they let me know, and posting a journal with a link to their vids or works is the LEAST I can do to return the favour..
So in this case we have , a French young lady, relatively new to dA, who was kind enough to use my "Lucius and Snape: Deatheaters" deviation [link] as inspiration for her own drawing. [link]
Notice how she used pastels instead of acrylics. This definitely reminds me of some works by Matisse. [link]
Pay her a visit, ladies and gents. <img src="http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/bow.gif" width="21" height="16" alt="" title="Thank you!
I've been tagged by

The rules are:

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 10 things about themselves on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 10 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

1 - My late auntie, my grandma's sister used to see the ghost of their executed brother in her sleep. That story used to give me goosebumps, although I'm not much into ghosts myself..
2 - I haven't decided yet what gives me more satisfaction, drawing or writing.
3 - I wish I were vegetarian but I can't say no to meat, I need it..
4 - Tom Felton was in ATHENS a couple of weeks ago, signing autographs in a mall close to where I work and I.. couldn't be there, 'cause I had to be somewhere else. ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!
5 - I'm not into alcohol, and I wonder how some people even *enjoy* it. I just wonder. I'm more addicted to sugar myself.
6 - I have a stray cat I looooooove but he scratches too much so I can't really pet him anymore. He's black and his name is Hiroki. For you who have read the "Battle Royale" manga and remember the scene where Hiroki, the shy martial artist guy, is trying to make a baby kitten pee, you'll understand why my cat got that name.
7 - I used to play the piano but it was too hard for me to learn anything, it needed a LOT of practice to even master a simple tune and I was too impatient..
8 - I promised myself I'd start a martial art as soon as I got a transfer back to Athens but I don't think I have the energies for that.. I wake up very early and that drains me, plus I need to save time for my drawing..
9 - My grandparents were refugees from the destruction of Smyrna (Asia Minor) in 1922.
10 - There are many many actors I've fangirled over the years, most of them stayed with me. I appreciate each and every one of them, although I'm too bored to name them right now. (too many!) But I've fangirled only TWO actresses all my life, and that's Sigourney Weaver and Jodie Foster.

So now I tag

Ok.
Ok.
So you guys probably know by now that I'm into ANYTHING that has to do with Hugo's "Notre Dame de Paris", right.
WELL, today I was listening to the radio and heard an old song by Anna Vissi, the... greek (and camp to no end) equivalent of let's say... Madonna. And then I remembered that the song's vid was "inspired" by Notre Dame de Paris.
Here's the link. [link]
I assure you, its weirdness kicks some major ass. Its creator, Nikos Soulis ("famous" music vids director in Greece) is both directing and starring in this vid playing... Quasimodo.
So ok. You have this.. Quasimodo character running around in some... modern industrial environment (in one of the many abandoned factories in Athens).
And you've got Anna Vissi playing... Esmeralda in FROLLO'S CLOTHES. Yes, FROLLO'S CLOTHES. Expensive velvet cloak and gloves and an expensive-looking pendant even. Very Frollo-like. I guess they have the same tailor ORRR she stole his clothes after they shagged.
Then you have some hooded monk-like guys (like those judges in "Hellfire" tormenting Frollo) chasing poor Quasimodo. For no reason. Ah yes, we see earlier him and Esmeralda wandering about in a chemistry lab. Probably Frollo's, yes. Poor guy ISN'T present, but at least we get to see his lab and his clothes.
Then they tie Quasimodo up and lead him.. to the guillotine. Right. The guillotine. Not the gallows. The GUILLOTINE. 18th century guillotine.
Then Esmeralda tries to save him. Then some photographers shoot him to death. Photographers.
And then, to top it all, the director/actor thought it cool to add a Shakespeare quote from the... 67th sonnet (so that we *know* he's a cool and educated guy).
All in all the vid has the crappy campy quality that greek music vids used to have back in the late eighties/early nineties.
It's so camp it's almost cult.

Hi people.
For the first time (or is it second?) since I joined dA I would like to comment on a fellow deviant's work, and that's because *really* caught my eye.
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery and.... what can I say? I'm speechless. I'll let the images speak for themselves. [link]
[link]
I could never believe that a composition of mine would inspire someone, and I'm really honoured.
Her art is so diverse and rich that you'd never believe it was made by someone as young as 19 years old! If her art is already so "complete" and professional, think of what she'll do in 10 years from now.
It's no secret that Italy has a wonderful tradition when it comes to illustrators (I'm a major fan of the Italians myself, especially those '70s children's books illustrators). But she's also influenced by mangas, which makes an interesting combination of styles and traditions.
What makes her really unique, a major plus in my opinion, is that her traditional hand-made art is as good as her digital art - it shows that her art is based on true observation, experimentation, and something not many people have: patience.
I'm sure, ValyChan, that "we ain't seen nothing yet".

ElenaTria

In the end, tag and name 8 more people.
5. Go to their DA pages and comment saying that they are tagged and hugged.

1) Antonio Salieri (Amadeus)
Why I like him: He was the first "real" villain who scared the hell out of me when I was 9. Simply because one could not help sympathising with him, no matter what. He had found an ingenious way to emotionally blackmail Mozart and estrange him from his family. He "killed" one of the greatest composers of all time. And he got away with it.
The scene that did it for me: burning the crucifix in the fireplace.
Favourite quote: "From now on, we are enemies You and I."

2) Hans Gruber (Die Hard)
Why I like him: The phlegm. The style. The elegance. He should be advertising Hugo Boss suits.
The scene that did it for me: Mrs McClane asks permission for a pregnant woman to move to an office where there's a sofa. Hans won't allow it but he permits a sofa to be brought out for her. What a gentleman.
(and please, notice his lowering gaze as Mrs McClane is leaving his office. Yes. He's looking at her butt. )
Favourite quote: "I'm an exceptional thief, Mrs McClane. And since I'm moving up to kidnapping, you should be more polite."

3) Colonel William Tavington (The Patriot)
Why I like him: I'm sorry. I just tried to watch a scene of his (just to remind me) and I got a nosebleed.
The scene that did it for me: He insults the memory of the boy he killed only to challenge the boy's father.
Favourite quote: "You know, it's an ugly business doing one's duty. But just occasionally it's a real pleasure".

4) The Sheriff of Nottingham (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves)
Why I like him: He's the Yosemite Sam of Nottingham. With huge amounts of sex-appeal.
The scene that did it for me: the swordfight with Robin. And that stolen kiss.
Favourite quote: "Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans. No more merciful beheadings. And call off Christmas".

5) The Cigarette-Smoking Man (The X-Files)
Why I like him: I never watched the complete series, but behind that thick cloud of smoke, he had a million shades of grey. I could never tell whether he was completely bad or working for "the greater good".
The scene that did it for me: at the beach, teasing Mulder's mother with memories of the past. And the innuendo that he *might* have been a better lover than Mr Mulder.
Favourite quote: "Don't try and threaten me, Mulder, I watched presidents die".

6) Javert (Les Miserables)
Why I like him: Just listen to his song, "Stars", sung by Terrence Mann. And watch him being played by Geoffrey Rush. 'Nuff said.
The scene that did it for me: He commits suicide because his sense of justice is too much for him.
Favourite quote: "I swear to you, I will be there...."

7) The Joker (The Killing Joke)
Why I like him: He was soulless. Until Brian Bolland and Alan Moore came along.
The scene that did it for me: He's on his knees. For the first time in his life he isn't smiling. Batman is trying to rehabilitate him. The Joker rises. He remembers who he used to be. He regrets it all. He's almost crying.
Favourite quote: "No. I'm sorry but... No. It's too late for that. Far too late..."

8) T-Bag (he's still more of a villain in the first season of "Prisonbreak" - don't spoil me about the following ones!!!)
Why I like him: He's a survivor. But I’ll speak once about JKR’s writing and never again.

JKR’s obsession with death. I know she was devastated by her mother’s death, and many HP themes derive from that, but that’s too much! How to avoid death, how to conquer death, how to bring the dead back to life (or at least their shadows or ghosts or projections or memories or…. or…….), how to kill as many characters as possible, in how many ways to feel sad (or NOT feel sad) about death.

JKR’s obsession with the Gryffindors. Slytherins being an abomination and something to be avoided no matter what. If it’s discrimination hating muggles, muggle-borns, mudbloods etc, the same applies for Slytherins. After all Snape and Regulus were Slytherins. I thought the books were about tolerance. How about towards underage Slytherins? The world is full of different kinds of people, people who should learn to live with each other and forgive each other but JKR seems to ignore that. Her world is black and white, or, in this case, green and red. No yin/yang here.

Snape was as unloved and neglected by JKR as he was by his biological parents. I’ve never seen a more intriguing character who was so underused. He never got the chance to speak to Harry, to shake his hand, to open his heart to him. He was just a plot device, as indicated [link] . Sounds more like plot-whore to me.

The Malfoys were shameless plot devices too. Draco was saved twice by Harry but stayed peculiarly stubborn and cold till the end. I mean, he and his family were saved, and even after 20 years he held a grudge against Harry? Not even being able to start a polite conversation? And anyways, his parents MUST have ended in Azkaban, where else? Were they pardoned? Or are they too unimportant to bother us anymore?

All those useless deaths, completely deprived of emotion. We didn’t even get to know Ted and “tomboy/rebel” Andromeda. I knew that Tonks and Lupin were expendable from day one, and so was one of the Weasleys (with so many Weasley kids around, we could spare one of them, right?). But having the Lupins give birth to a child in the background and just in time to create a godfather-godson relationship between Ted and Harry (like ta-daaaaah!!! Harry and Sirius) is pointless and unjustified sentimentalism.

Dumbledore having to appear and give a final wise-man speech in EVERY SINGLE F…… BOOK, even when he’s dead (“Hi there! I’m dead but let me say just one more thing….” ). Since Harry got the chance to chit-chat with his dead mentor and his de...

Here's an interesting feature of my "Ora pro me" deviation [link] but you'll see dozens of other A-MA-ZING deviations, do check, ladies and gents.

Moreover
I've been tagged by and , and Elly here gave me a very good idea, to write 8 things not about me but about my art. Elly, that’s tough!
How is one supposed to talk about his art without talking about himself?
Anyways, here are the rules:

Rules:
1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person should post 8 quirky, interesting or useful facts about their art.
3. At the end of your 8 facts tag and name 8 people.
4. Go to their dA pages and let them know they are tagged.

-----------------

1. I’m not a hardcore fan of hand-made art, I’m really not, since I admire and envy all the people in here who use Photoshop and Painter, and those damn wacoms! But yeah, you guessed, I’m too lazy to learn.

2. To me art was always the medium, never the goal. I don’t admire art (let’s say my art) for art’s sake. If there isn’t a story to tell, a feeling to express, there’s no use in art.

3. I don’t know what to say of people who think there’s something *really* special about them just because they “draw nicely”. I’m not saying it’s not special. But it’s not that rare either. There’s nothing special about being an artist, just some luck in the gene pool and A LOT of hard work.

4. I sometimes forget that I’m an artist. Especially now that I’ve moved into “the teaching business”. Art needs peace of mind. And inspiration. I suffer when there’s no inspiration. It’s too hard to know what you were like and what you’ve become. Art is like a drug. It makes you forget the outside world, you never feel hungry, you never notice the time pass. I like that. I would like to live my life in a trance.

5. I draw fanart because many people can identify with it. I always want to look at my works with the eyes of a fan. What would I like to find on the Internet? That’s what I draw.

6. Some people say that most of my works (my comic stories in particular) are gloomy and melancholic. They rarely have what you’d call a happy ending. But I think I like melancholy. My “sunny”, “happy” works are rather empty really. I like a sense of danger, of mystery in my works. It’s more interesting.

7. I used to be very passionate about the fact that I was drawing slash, it was not only exhilarating but also a kind of revolution against stereotypes. I used to relish the thought that someone would be shocked by the fact that I was drawing slash fanart. Now it’s rather commonplace. It would be nice to care about what people say, it keeps your adrenaline going.

8. I have this thing – I cannot draw passionately if I’m not “in love” with my subject. And yes, that subject is almost always a man. That is tough, ladies and gentlemen, always needing a male to inspire me. Always. Before my Harry Potter series I used to obsess over a group of guys in art school who were inseparable and reminded me of “The 3 Musketeers”. I drew tons of fanart with them, pin-ups, scenes from an epic comic I was supposed to be making, you name it. After all this, I felt so embarrassed (they weren’t inaccessible actors, they were ordinary students who knew what I was doing - and so did ALL their friends in art school) that I promised never to be inspired by a *real* guy I was in love with. Never again.

My life would be totally different without art. I would have to fight different fights, people would see me in a different light, I would see me in a different light.
Would that be good or bad?
I don’t know.

So now I'm tagging <img class="avatar" src="http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/u/n/undeadgoth.jpg" width="50" height="50" alt=":iconun...

I keep updating them mostly when a fellow deviant features... me. Yes, me myself and I.
To be frank with you.... when someone features me or my work I'm so touched that I don't know how to react. I mean, the only way I can think of to reciprocate immediately somebody's love and esteem is to post a journal mentioning him and his kind act. So that others know as well.
And this time the "kind strangers" were featuring my Little Prince [link] and [link] talking about me with such words that make me blush.
I do hope you check their journals, they honour not only me but also a lot of remarkable people in here.

I know what it's like to speak to brick walls called fanatic theists. It sometimes is infuriating, because they try to convert people out of Christian love.
Most creationists seem to believe that God made dinosaurs, but they all died during the deluge, because they didn't fit in the ark. Kind of like Noah discriminated against the T-Rex. Eight snippets about me:

1) I once killed my pet chick when I accidentally stepped on it. I was 7-8 and I watched it die. It was chipping for a while, then it just collapsed and stopped moving.
2) I talk in my sleep when I'm under pressure. When I was younger I was a somnambulist. I used to sit on my desk and turn on and off the light repeatedly.
3) I had my first depression attack when I was 8, at summer camp. Although I started off with the intention to have fun with the rest of the kids, I soon found out that it's no fun waking up at 7.30 in the middle of the summer, having to make my bed perfectly, doing obligatory exercise, eating salty meals, being forced to sleep 3 hours every afternoon, being obliged to socialise with the other kids and having no privacy whatsoever. I used to beg my parents to take me away at the end of the first week, but they would always leave me there for another 3 days.
4) When in primary school, and while playing at my aunt's garden, I thought I saw two girls in white dresses entering my house. When I asked my mother who the girls were she said that she had seen no girls.
5) I would gladly kill a pedophile.
6) Two things I fear most: compromise and loneliness.
7) I demand people's respect.
8) I want to live forever.

Ladies and gentlemen.

I gotta tell you this.

I was featured in ’s journal [link]
It is a very very beautiful feature, see it for yourselves, and I’m more than honouredÂ

Let me tell you a thing or two about Elly. And me.

I wasn’t always a deviant, right? Like everyone else I started off surfing the Internet, searching for Harry Potter fanart. Back in 2003 I found this wonderful site, and was so jealous of the people in it. But back then I thought that I had to pay so as to become a member, plus it took me ages to download stuff, let alone upload them. So I quit the idea.
Last January (somehow it seems like years ago) I browsed dA once more, don’t remember exactly why, and I happened to see Elly’s works. I was entranced by her “My True Mask” deviation [link] , “The Patronus I” [link] and her “Lucius Malfoy in Shirtsleeves” [link] among others.
And, golly, was I jealous of her Lucius cane or what! (it costs a lot, the little bugger!)

A year ago some Greek friends had told me they all had an account in dA, and urged me to set up my own.
I never thought I could.
It took me a whole year to sit myself down but I did it – why not? My HP fanart would go wasted if it stayed in my drawers forever.

And here’s something you gotta know: I don’t browse the galleries of random deviants, not so often anyway, not anymore.
I don’t have the time.
Most of the people I talk to –apart from my Greek friends- are deviants who contacted me, it wasn’t me who made the first move. As I said, I don’t have the time.
It sounds rather selfish, doesn’t itÂ
But it’s true.

So Elly was one of the first people to actually talk to me about my works.
I was more than thrilled that she found “your humble narrator”, your regular dA newbie, and I felt a shiver down my spine when I found out that introduced me to her with the kindest of words (check Elly’s frontpage comments if you don’t believe me!).

Yes, people can be kind and generous even on the Internet, just as they can be jealous, vulgar or cruel.
Just like in real life.

So that’s it. I’m thrilled.
I only wish everyone was as kind and generous as Elly isÂ
