I really need to update more often.

Razed Entertainment has grown a bit since the last update. Now up to fourteen people, covering a good chunk of the globe; soon enough, the sun shall never set upon us. At the moment, we're all juggling tighter schedules, jobs, and schooling, and we're looking for a few more extra hands to fill things out.

Our main need is for Concept Artists. Our concept crew is undersized, and free time is becoming harder and harder to come by. With that in mind, here's the speal:

Razed Entertainment is a small group of indie modders working on a horror/survival mod for the source engine. Our goal is to create a short, polished modification which showcases both our talents as developers and the quality of our source material, in order to create something which is truly &#039ortfolio worthy.'

We're all people with real lives, and we understand that no one will be able to devote every waking minute to any one project. With this in mind, we're looking to add to our numbers, and take some of the load off from the existing crew. Despite what others may claim, we're still human.

We're looking for an experienced concept artist with a strong grasp of anatomy for character, weapon, and environmental concepts, in addition to T-poses for our modelers.

Some other merits we're looking for include:
* A solid grasp of English
* Flexible schedule
* Previous experience in working with teams
* Access to a scanner (if a traditional artist)
* Sense of humor

To Apply:

Send an email including a brief introduction, resume - with samples - your timezone, and the amount of time you will be able to dedicate to: scribe.nevermore@gmail.com

If you want to see some pretty pictures, take a look at our horribly out-dated Moddb page: [link]

An old friend of ffx, eyesofliquidrage has signed on to give us a hand with all the confusing technical stuff, and so far things have been great.

On the artsy side of things, Razed Entertainment is brainstorming for logos for our team, our project heading (Project: Evermore) and our project itself (Blood & Dye). I'm sure that all two of our readers would love to lend a hand.

Finally, we have something that's a bit of a low-note. Our development forum is being hit with some serious spammage, serious enough that Drosach, The Sword of Deletion, cannot spare the time to tell friend from foe. What this means, is that anyone who does not contact an existing member of the team to give forewarning before registering, will have their account deleted. This may seem like overkill, but until the spammage is stopped, it is our only option.

As always, you can send me a jab at scribe.nevermore@gmail.com

We’re still kicking over here at Razed Entertainment, and we have a bit of news to share. Our project has had a slight shift in direction, from a text based rpg, to a digital, strategic, CCG. Or as I like to call it, a CCHBSTBRPDG (Card Collecting Hex Based Strategic Turn Based Role Playing Digital Game). This shift has given us a level of clarity that we were lacking before, and it has destroyed none of our plot-driven aspirations.

On the recruitment side of things, there is a bit of bad news. R6 is no longer able to lend a hand, due to what appears to be a tyrannical boss; it is partial supposition though, as we have not been able to contact him for a few weeks now. This means that we are looking for artistic help even harder now, in addition to some extra brains to have on hand.

If you are interested, either in helping or emailing me obscene amounts of spam, you can send me an email at scribe.nevermore@gmail.com

Cheers,

Elhrrah

It's me again, or more properly, it's us again.

We at Razed Entertainment have been getting along quite well, now that we have ---r6artist--- here with us, well enough in fact, that we need help on the programing and website end. As the subject states, the three things that we are looking for are as follows: PhP skill, MySQL knowledge, and an affinity for Database management. Our main need for a Php programmer is for giving a hand with maintaining our site, which has fallen behind lately. Skill with MySQL (and for that matter, PhP) is needed for the game itself; the technical details I lack, being the writer. Database management, is something that comes as a given for a web based game, but it is also a skill that we need to have at hand for a variety of situations.

But the one thing that we need more than any of that, is your time and interaction. Even if you do not have any 'technical' skills, we would still appreciate having your brain, to help iron out the details and explore all the little corners of Blood & Dye. Whether as a full member of the team, or just as an interested commenter, we would greatly appreciate your help.

We have, at this moment, three main areas (outside of this journal) on the internet where we can be found. Our Development Forum, Our fledgling blog and our site. I welcome you to take a look, but please, keep in mind that things are still rough, still in progress, and that if you wish to join the team, you can help us refine things, bit by bit.

As you all have seen, I have become less active here in relation to my renders. That is for a reason. I have been, for the last few months, been working with a game development crew known as Razed Entertainment. Our game, and the title of the journal, is known as Blood & Dye, which is an upcoming RPG developed by a select crew of dedicated members, ranging from programmers, to programmers. Thus you can see our dilemma. For excluding myself, the writer, we are all programmers, none of us possessing even a modicum of artistic skill.

I think that by now you have caught my drift, but if not, I shall explain. We need art. This is a ginormous art community. I, acting in my position as writer and advertiser, have decided to let the word out here, in my personal profile; such as to see how interested people are in circles larger than just that of the indie development scene. Now with this stated, on to more factual matters.

Some of the things we need to know:

Samples of your work

Information on what software you use

information on what hardware you use

if you are applicable under COPPA rulings (just covering the bases)

The amount of time you are willing to dedicate

What time zone you are in (general thing, harder to work with people who are never awake when you are0

Secondary skills

Previous experience (if any, not needed)

Besides that, one thing that I must note, and strongly stress, is that at the moment we are in the midst of a renovation of both our sites. That means that the links that are to follow this paragraph are neither pretty nor complete, but simply acts as a bare-bones example of what it is that we are working on.

Our main forum can he found here and of which there is much below the surface. Our secondary site is more focused on the plot, but is not totally finished as of yet.

The one thing that I have noticed concerning my renders, is that there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to why some are better received than others. Is it the color? The depth? Contrast? Patterns? Is it better to frame something as if it is a flower on the window sill? or does it sit better when it comes off the screen? Are they the wrong size? the wrong ratio? Do you even consider them wallpaper?
The real question here is 'what exactly is it that I am making?' Perception is key for all things, and knowing how chaos and fractal art is perceived is a good thing to know, I think. It is also the issue of perspective in the aspect of creator versus viewer; some renders were harder to make, thus more satisfying, yet have less acclaim than those that took but mere minutes, a greatly confusing aspect.

There often seems to be confusion about the difference between Yanks, Yoopers, and Rednecks. Where do they come from? How do I tell them apart? Which one am I?

So I a here to tell you. The Yooper when looked at on wikipedia is said to be from the great lakes area. They lie. Da Yoopers Are from Da U.P. Why else would they be called Yoopers? Yoopers are generally nice, and have varying levels of what could only be called a Yoopanese accent. It is a mixture of mainly Finnish and English, with a few other tid-bits thrown in. Yooper humor seems to stay mainly within Michigan, making references hard. I, being a from Da U.P. originally know a few Yooper/Redneck comparison jokes that most others do not know.

Yanks are well known, but at times are thought to reside within the great lakes area (resulting in people thinking that yooper is another term for yank) but they are farther east (to me). They are the general population in the New York area. Now before you bite my nose off I must say that these thought span the ages. In Europe they use Yank as a general term for Americans; they don't know how wrong they are.

Rednecks are the most common of the three. Everyone can contest to having a Redneck relative. Their accent cannot be mistaken for anything else, a corncob pipe is not needed to recognise them. They take up a large amount of the United States, From mountains to plains, they can be found. Redneck humor is everywhere, it even has its own TV show. Joke often focus around Skeeter, whoever the poor soul may be.
