There was a lovely note from some upset dA'er taking me/us to task over our neglect (in their eyes) of the club. It was from way back in 07/07. I got raked over the coals for not asking for help from people in running the club. Hey Chump? I did ask for help. And if the club wasn't being run to your liking then you were, and always are, free to leave. I didn't get the help because apparently, like me, the other people also had busy lives and things going on at the time. Deal with it.

I'll work on getting the submissions up, those that fly past the jury. Who is the jury? Right now, it's me. Note me if you want to be on it too. Because it proved to be soooo much work last time, this time there won't ever be more than 3 jury members. Don't like it? Feel free to leave or not submit anything. Also feel free to send me hate notes but understand I'll feel just as free to send 'em back.

And yes, I'm apparently still having problems with telling people how I really feel. Heh.

have graciously agreed to jury the submissions with me. They are just doing it for the great pay and benefits package! I don't know if you can bribe them, but I'm always open to bribes of shiny things.

Rules? Simple. Submit via a note to the club. No more than 3 submissions a week. Give us at least 2 weeks before you start bugging us about your submissions. 2 or more yays from the 3 judges gets your submission posted in the gallery. Less than 2 it goes into scraps. People are free to leave critque so if you can't handle that, do not submit anything. All submissions must have permission for the club to post it here, for all eternity plus 13 days, unless you have a compelling reason for us to take it down. It's nice if you favorite the work at the artist's page rather than here but I'm not bothering with policing that since I have a life. If you can't handle that, don't submit. We are going to judge your work and other people will probably do the same, that's sort of the whole point to this little mad exercise. Again, if you can't handle that, don't submit. Follow these simple rules/guidelines and we won't have to kill any kittens. Thanks!

Its time for our next contest and its Indy 500 time so the theme is cars or transportation in general.

First place gets a 6 month subscription, their winning image as the club featured image until the next contest or until we get tired of it, journal feature here at the club with some of their work highlighted and the same feature in 's page and 's page. And anything else we can think of or other people want to throw into the kitty. We haven't figured yet what to do, if anything, for 2nd and 3rd.

The contest rules are relatively easy. The image has to be taken within the last 30 days (yes, it's limited to photographs), has to have form of transportation in it and thats it! Go to it people.

Please submit your entries with the subject line being "contest". We will take entries until July 1st, 2007 Auckland time (thats June 30th for the rest of you). Judges will be

We'll award each image a value from 1-5. The 7 images with the highest scores will then be judged again on a 1-5 value with the winning image being the one who gets the least number of points. (Just checking to see who is actually paying attention - really which image gets the greatest number of points wins). In the event of a tie we'll just flip a coin. Or declare a tie. Or let you all decide. Or just abitrarily pick based on who is most popular or least popular. Whatever, we'll deal if that situation arises.

Housekeeping - People, just because we are elite on who we jury into the gallery doesn't mean you should be afraid to submit images. The only way to get better is to keep trying. What's the worst that is going to happen if you submit something and it doesn't get approved? You won't die, we promise. I'm actually going to submit a couple myself and see what happens.

Scraps will be going up this weekend sometime. Any image that doesn't make it in will go into the scraps. The idea here is for the community to comment there. Tell the photographer what's good about the image and/or what sucks about the image. Try not to be an assmuncher and just say "Nice tits" or "This bites" but rather give some positive feedback that the artist can actually use in improving their work. Or comment "God the judges suck big ones - this is an outstanding picture and should have been approved. Those judges wouldn't know elite nudes if one bit them in the rump!"

I will also note I voted to disqualify all of JohnPeri's entries for violation of the "no props - body must be nude" rule. It's a pretty clear rule to me but the other judges felt otherwise so majority ruled. Next time we will be much more specific regarding the rules. If anyone has a gripe about the entries being allowed in - save it. We aren't perfect.

I know which image I think is best. How about the rest of you. Leave a comment with your favorite image and we'll see about handing out a member voted winner award.

In moving the entries to the appropriate spots I've noticed a few that weren't taken more than 20 days prior to being submitted. A read of the rules below will show that's a rule breaker. We're discussing whether accessories violate the "no props - the body has to be nude" rule. There have been some terrific entries so look for the results soon.

Another housekeeping note - really a pet peeve of mine. Since we said from the get-go we were going to toss political correctness out the door let me just say, "Freaking read, lipread if you must, you asshats." This is in regards to favoriting images in the club rather than at the artist's page. How flipping hard is it folks, really, to read and follow that simple request/instruction? No, we can't do anything to enforce it, we can't do much to punish violators, but by god I can call you "asshats."

We'll be moving the images in scraps that have been juried into the main gallery recently in the next few days or so. If we happen to miss an image of your's that's received the required 3 votes please note us and we'll get it to the proper gallery.

Submissions - It's proving cumbersome to get the entries to the different judges and then keep track of whose received what submissions and then tallying the votes. As an opponent of all things cumbersome I thought it might work better if as submissions come in we post them immediately in scraps. Once there the guest judges and Rob and I can vote on them as they are in the scraps. When all the judges have voted if the image gets the required 3 yays we would move it into the gallery also. Since many of you will come up to bat as a guest judge please tell me what you think.

Someone recently asked Rob and I if this club was truly geared toward the Artistic Nudes community or if it was basically a vehicle for our egoes. I don't know what Rob's response was but mine was, yes, it's geared towards a community. Yes, we want as much community involvement as we can get. Yes, we will be judgemental and hope to be elite in what is posted in the gallery. We want to improve and we hope the same can be said for the other community members. No, we are not worrying about being politically correct. Yes, in the end when and if decisions have to be made or rules etc, Rob and I will likely make them. Push comes to charge someone has to be in charge.

Since we do want it to be a community effort there are some ideas we've been tossing about we would like your thoughts on. What do you want to see here? Tips, interviews, features, mud wrestling, do's and don'ts, challenges, etc. We can't give you what you want if you don't tell us what it is. I know what I want, I think Rob knows what he wants, know it's your turn. What do you want?

The contest rules are relatively easy. The image has to be taken within the last 20 days (yes, it's limited to photographs), has to have a window in it, no props - the body has to be nude, and no artificial lighting. It can't be a surprise to any who know us that the first contest is a window theme or that we are limiting it to natural lighting.

Please submit your entries with the subject line being "contest". We will take entries until May 1st, 2007.

(Just checking to see who is actually paying attention - really which image gets the greatest number of points wins). In the event of a tie we'll just flip a coin. Or declare a tie. Or let you all decide. Or just abitrarily pick based on who is most popular or least popular. Whatever, we'll deal if that situation arises.

Housekeeping - People, just because we are elite on who we jury into the gallery doesn't mean you should be afraid to submit images. The only way to get better is to keep trying. What's the worst that is going to happen if you submit something and it doesn't get approved? You won't die, we promise. I'm actually going to submit a couple myself and see what happens.

Scraps will be going up this weekend sometime. Any image that doesn't make it in will go into the scraps. The idea here is for the community to comment there. Tell the photographer what's good about the image and/or what sucks about the image. Try not to be an assmuncher and just say "Nice tits" or "This bites" but rather give some positive feedback that the artist can actually use in improving their work. Or comment "God the judges suck big ones - this is an outstanding picture and should have been approved. Those judges wouldn't know elite nudes if one bit them in the rump!"

A new comer here to dA and the artistic nude gallery. To say his stuff if worth a look is an understatement.

Phenomenal use of props, beautiful lighting, and a window to boot!

On a house-keeping note, thanks to those who have favorited the images in the gallery at the artist's page. We appreciate it and are sure the artists appreciate it even more. It's amazing that in spite of the very clear direction to NOT favorite the images in the gallery that there are still people who do.

This got us to thinking.

Along with the EDDy it seems appropriate to award a DA. The first DA goes out to all those folks who favorited the images in the EliteNudes gallery as opposed to where they are supposed to. Without further ado

EliteNudes first EDDy. Some may complain that I've chosen one of

's images as the first for this since he is a co-founder. Tough.

This was the first image I favorited here and it is still one of my very favorites. It's classic, timeless and exquisitely executed. It rocked my socks then and it still does now.

The second EDDy (told you we may do more than one a day and sometimes none a day) is for

I don't know this artist, haven't checked out his/her page past this image, don't care who it is. The image is beautiful. So check them out on their own pages and show them the love.

The third EDDy. This photographer has lots of good shots too but this was a standout. I think it's the pose. Guess there is something to be said for a good model after all.

DD = Daily Denigration

So let's tackle the dreaded DD, aka Daily Deviation. I checked the definition of what a daily deviation is before embarking upon this journal entry. Here it is, straight from the horse's mouth, as it were...

The Daily Deviation is a daily staff feature chosen from the galleries here on deviantART.

A small assortment of submissions is chosen each day by a select group of staff members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large.

Seems pretty straight forward, yes? Ah ha! That's where they fool you! Apparently it's not at all that straight forward, not by a long shot. Apparently there are a number of unwritten rules and guidelines to go along with that.

You can't have too many pageviews already. You can't be too outspoken. (Anyone see a dd anywhere near in my future? Me either!) You have to have a certain air of bohemian to you. You can't already have more than a couple of dd's.

Now I can guarantee a couple of things will happen. Someone will comment "Oh but you can't have just one or two people, or five or six, getting the dd's all the time, that's not fair." Right, because art is all about what's fair, just like life is. Right, because we should lower the bar so as to not hurt anyones' feelings. Right, because by god we cannot possibly be awarding excellence when it's already been awarded. The next thing that will happen is some dd appointer will come along and say "We do not go by those rules or it's up to each dd appointer as to what they feature or we are trying to bring some deserved attention to lesser known artists or blah blah blah."

Give me a break. It's plain as day what the dd is to be awarded for: impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large. Impressive or interesting enough. Period. Anything less than this is a belittling of deserving artists' work.

Here's what we are going to do about it and here is our question to you.

Rob and I will be handing out EDDies to people whose images are just rocking our socks. We don't care how many other EDDies or dd's they've had. We don't care how many pageviews they have or haven't had. We don't care how outspoken or critical they are. We don't care how artsy-fartsy or main-street they are. We simply care their work rocks our socks. Don't expect them everyday - that's a bit of a misnomer. Expect them whenever we feel like giving them. We might even give two in one day. By all means note us with your suggestions.

The question is - what are your thoughts on the dd? Is it too politically correct? Is it a popularity contest? Are some of the dd's just uber crap? Is your work more worthy than what you see getting dd's? Did Elvis really die or is he and Anna Nicole Smith off on some distant island laughing their butts off?

Then welcome aboard! I'm not going to promise Rob and I are going to run a club where everyone will always feel good about themselves. Nor that you will become popular.
