A few new events added!

We here at Elysian realize it's a bit late in coming, but we want to make sure our students, staff, and faculty (and anyone else who may bumble in) enjoy this holiday season to the fullest. The time of Yule is a season of rebirth after darkness, new starts, the beginning of something great. Therefore, headmaster, Hedley, and the Student Council invite you to participate in one or more of the following events.

These events are simply for you own enjoyment. You may do one, none, or any number of the events in art or fiction and submit it to the group. Small participation prizes will be awarded after January 15th, the final date for this activity.

Gingerbread Extravaganza
Prepare to bake up a storm with Makoto ( *Axel-Pwnderson ). There will be gingerbread, sugar cookies, and pepermint drops galore at this party. So if you'd like to make gingerbread houses, ice some cookies, or make a sweet treat for your loved ones and friends, this is the place to be. Meet up in the cafeteria kitchen for sweet times and holiday desserts!

The Gift of Giving
If you've got a ton of presents to wrap, or cards to make and send, come join Neis ( =Akkutsune ) in the art building. Make your own creative wrapping paper or personal holiday cards. The art of wrapping gifts will soon be a breeze, and its always more fun to decorate cards and wrap gifts with friends by your side.

Snowman Sculpting
The ever adorable Zan ( ~Cherubix ) will be hosting a celebration of the playful spirit of the season by building snowmen (or snowanimals as the case may be). Gather your friends and head on down to the field behind Avalon Hall for some snow sculpting fun!

Spirited Skating
The lake in the forest is well frozen over now (thanks to Hedley) so if you'd like to get into the spirit of the holiday by skating, strap on your skates, grab your scarf and mittens, and head down to the forest for ice-skating activities with the elegant Nari ( ~Padoras-Locket ) and divine Michael ( ~KitsuneHL ). There'll be hot chocolate and cookies for all!

Crystalized Castles
Up for something on a bit larger scale than snowmen? Then head out to the main quad outside your dorm for a ice and snow art on an epic scale by building life-size ice castles, forts, etc with your Student Council wolf, Sebastian ( =backshadow ). Join a team from your own dorm to compete for the best structure!

Dazzling Decorations
What's a campus during the holidays without loads and loads of decorations? If you have an artist's touch, or just like mistletoe, head on down to Valhalla Hall to create your own decorations for the buildings or just your room, with Council member, Sapphire ( *kiminess ). We'd love you to make a special ornament for the Elysian Yule Tree! Then help decorate the whole campus with Hedley's collection of thousands of lights, baubles, and more!

Hullo my lovely little darlings, members of Elysian. The end of summer festival in Guethary was hopefully enjoyed all around and as I mentioned before, they lead well into our next marvelous event: the Interschool Homecoming Games. In years passed we have often held such events with our sister school of ~Arcadium-School, but it has been a while since the last ones were held.

I, as your headmaster extraordinaire, highly encourage your participation in these games. There is nothing to fear, and this is an opportunity for you all to show both school spirit but also to show your peers the advances you have made in your schooling.

The Homecoming Games are a symbol of school pride and the strength of its students. It is a month long celebration, in which competitions between the two schools will be held. Points will be awarded to the winners of each competition and tallied. At the end of the month, a grand ceremony is held to announce the winning school. And they hold the title until the next games are held.

While we do encourage our students to play hard, we also must warn that you all be careful. Follow the rules and do not use any unnecessary means to win. We do not need any injuries. And please, you would bring shame to Elysian’s name if you were found cheating in any way. And trust me, my dears, you do NOT want me...displeased with you. :iconcheshire:

Below is a list of the compiled games and schedules for the next two months. Please do keep in mind that some events take place on our school grounds while others will be at the Arcadium campus. Each event’s participation is worth ten points. A single student is only allowed to enter up to two games per set. If you have multiple students, you may enter them all or some. But each individual is only allowed to join two events per set.Meaning at the minimum, 20 points can be earned per set, per student.


Set I


Location: Elysian Campus

Dates: September 6th to 19th


Event I: Opening Ceremonies


Event II: Chariot Race

-The schools’ take on the ever-popular mortal game, the three-legged race. Students pick their partner, and the two must act as one unit with two of their legs attached together. The goal of this game is to work together to pull a cart across the finish line first.


Event III: Labyrinth

-Elysian has had an old maze of tunnels under the school for some years now, and have finally been cleaned for use. Students who participate in this event are allowed to pick their teams of up to five students. They will then work together to navigate the various traps and the actual maze of the tunnels. The group who finishes in the fastest time will gain the win for their school.


Event IV: Scavenger Hunt

-In this event, all participants can either chose to work alone or in a team of up to six four students. These teams will all be given a list of clues which lead to members of the faculty from their particular school. Each faculty member will sign the list once the team finds them, and the first team back with all the signatures wins. This shows how well the students know their teachers, and may force students of different dorms to work together.

Hullo my darling little lambs. I fear I must be the one to remind you these lazy dog *cough* days of summer are quickly drawing to a close. However, not all is so somber and forlorn that a bit of festivity and spirits in the form of a town festival can't lighten your the mood! As, yes my children, the time has come around once more for the Village of Guethary End of Summer Festival!

For those of you new to our lovely campus this year, you'll find that this is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year: a week long holiday of end of season merrymaking. It's a wonderful chance for the members of our school to join with those of the greater community of the town we share.

From carnival rides and food to international and interworld wonders, there will be something for everyone. Businesses in town take this time to offer discounted wares and services and villagers who call Guethary home are delighted to open their doors to callers. Get your hair done up in late summer flowers at the salon or receive a fortune telling session at one of many magical shops. Eat everything from home cooked comfort foods to foreign fare at the street vendors. Parades, rides, games, and more can be found day and night all week. AND as a special surprise: The portals between Elysian Academy and our sister institution, Arcadium School will be open to all. Please remember to be on your best behavior in town and abroad in Greece, at Arcadium.

I'll have more information for all you surely curious listeners in short order. Why, I even see a rather ornate envelope sitting in my mail tray even now. I wonder what sort of gala that could be for...


Hello, Students of Elysian

I'm a bit newer to this part of town, though not the area, and I've put a small proposition forward to your delightful Headmaster. I hear a large portion of you spend a good amount of time at the school. And, quite honestly, I've heard quite interesting things about the school of Elysian and I'm rather intrigued.
Now, the summer days are nearly done, winding down quickly. However, I've decided to hold a Gala at my own manor for the last dying embers of the warm month and the awakening of the harvest season.

This is where the fun part starts.
Every student, and any employees that wish to partake, will be receiving a grant of 200 euros to spend on appropriate clothing and other needs for the event.
The theme is, of course, orange, yellow, red and white. So please do dress accordingly.

On the appointed day, limousines will be arriving at the school and heading toward the manor with about fifteen minutes between each one, making a continuous loop to guarantee that no one's left behind. All festivities will take place in the main ballroom where food and drinks will be supplied, though all alchoholic drinks have been enchanted to become non-alchoholic once ingested by a minor, so don't think you're going to be sneaking around rules that way.

There are, of course, lavatories near the ballroom, and the back doors open onto the garden. You are perfectly welcome to wander that area to your liking.

However, there are two conditions. Do not go near the West Wing, which has been partitioned off, and do not touch the summoning circle in the center of the garden. Since there is a fence around the latter, stumbling onto it will hardly be an excuse.
Other than that, please enjoy the night's festivities to your fullest extent.

Greetings and salutations, my lovely students, colleagues, and friends! It would seem it's that time of the year once more. The days are beginning to be longer and the snow is finally starting to melt (though we all know we'll likely be hit with another surprise storm or two).

It is within this spirit of new beginnings, I would like to remind you of the date fast approaching, that of our glorious academy's own beginning. That's right, my fine friends, it's nearly time for our anniversary. It is with much pleasure, I announce our anniversary event for this year: Elysian Cultural Festival! Allow me to explain how this will work.

Cultural Festival will be a two month event, in order to fully celebrate the occasion and get the most out of it. There are going to be multiple aspects to this event including multiple small challenges (which shall be posted in the chat), an individual event, a group event, and role-playing as usual in the chatroom and forum.

The group event is the big event for this time around. To sign up, simply comment below. Each member who signs up will be randomly placed with a small group (3-4) and it will be each group's responsibility to come up with a booth, performance, or the like for cultural festival. Just to give you some ideas, think along the lines of a tea ceremony, a play, udon booth, fortune telling booth, host club, speed dating, or something about your characters cultures. Be creative, think along the lines of a festival/carnival. Then as a group, create your project in whatever form you desire, be it drawing, fanfiction, or something else.

You may also do this on your own, though if you do it would be lovely if you took it beyond the usual drawing entry and went for something like a story book or another more original medium. You have two months, after all.

The other smaller event will be listed as they come up. Keep an eye on the main page and the chat. Also, don't forget we have a special forum, just for Elysian (full of lovely pictures of our campus and loaded with information). Hello and greetings to the students (those new and farewell to those of old) and staff of Elysian. My name is Manda Seiryū and I am the Editor of the School Newspaper. I will be the one to report on the activities running rampant on he campus from now on, as directed by the School Board and Head Master Hedley.

Regardless of troubling times- we must all keep a positive outlook on any situation. Without a positive outlook- we all fall victim to our own demons. This goes to say that there have been a few missing students on the campus- and Hedley seems to continue to keep things very hush-hush. After some research, it seems that several people have disappeared at the hands of something rather sinister. Regardless of how I am not allowed to print their names, I will wish them well and hope that something will be done to bring our students (and apparently staff) back to our campus. It is encouraged that all students should walk with a friend at night and not wander off the campus grounds- you never know what is lurking near Hedley's magic. It is a matter of safety- and as such Hedley orders this with much care for his students and staff. If you feel unsafe in any way, you can easily contact a staff member via your student handbook- their personal numbers are listed in the back.

On a more positive note- Christmas is coming up, as is the annual Yule Ball. There are even rumors of a secret santa exchange running across the campus. If you are interested, let a staff member know!

School Newspaper

Hello and greetings to the students and staff of Elysian. My name is Manda Seiryū and I am the Editor of the School Newspaper. I will be the one to report on the activities running rampant on he campus from now on, as directed by the School Board and Head Master Hedley.

As some of you are already aware, some very big changes have been taking place at our fair academy over the last month. According to the School Board of Directors, "these changes are to help our academy [grow]. Not just in numbers, but to help maintain the [quality] we have come to be proud of in our small community." Never question the School Board, for they seem to know what they are doing. Hedley does put his trust in this mysterious group of individuals. Anyway, onto the announcements!

Congratulations are in order for the newly appointed Hall Monitors: Apollo de Sade [*backshadow], River Ayres [*mr-romantic], Dalis Mochrie [=TheKyuubi-chan], Xiang Shu-Fen [~Neko-Saphira], and Ela [~marmots-kill]. The School Board had this to say; "We have appointed these five individuals to be chat moderators in order to help maintain the chatroom rules while any number of the main mods are absent. We expect you to treat the chat mods, known as Hall Monitors, with the same respect as a moderator."

As much as I dislike printing what the School Board has to say, as much of it does not make sense, they also have this to announce: "This is LONG over due- but the winner of the Homecoming Contest is ~mallykatt! Hedley approaches the podium, in human teen boy form, and clears his throat, smirking at all of you:

Greetings and salutations, my pretty little students, staff, and faculty! I'm here to let you know who will be crowned Homecoming King and Queen! I know you've been eagerly awaiting the outcome and you're to wait no longer! By a democratic vote, by the campus community, the results were EXTREMELY close. Winners were only by a few votes. And now, the homecoming queen for this year is *drumroll* MUSE!! Congratulations, Muse! I commend you on your campaign and your win! May you wear your crown with pride.
And now, as for homecoming king, the winner by vote was River Ayres! However, don't expect to hear any congratulations from me on this front. Homecoming king runners, may I just say I am ASHAMED of the way you behaved yourself and represented our community. Of course, I don't mean all of you. A select few, unfortunately, tarnished it for you all. I expected much better from you than mudslinging, nearly prostituting yourselves, and out and out catfighting...and I say this on behalf of cats everywhere, may I remind you. Gabs, you too. I know you just refused to campaign out of laziness and being too busy chasing tail. For shame! Also, to all of you voters. What were you thinking? Where's your loyalty, my beloved peons? I'm hurt. Deeply. *holds hand to chest* Am I not your most beloved king? Yes, yes I am. As such, I shall be taking my crown now, thank you very much. At Elysian academy we believe in The Three A's: Academics, Athletics, and the Arts.
Within each of us there is a gift. For Elysian Academy, it is our task or responsibility to help each of our students to find their gift, and whether it is Academics, Athletics, or the Arts, we will provide these opportunities to the fullest.

For a student to graduate from Elysian Academy, please refer to the chart below: A student must take a minimum of 32 credits (courses) in the duration of four years. This would be 8 classes a year. You are allowed to take more classes if you would like.

| MISSION STATEMENT |








NO "GODMODDING"
Just because you know something doesn't mean your character does. They have to actually learn it just like any other character.

Your character is a STUDENT. That means that their powers aren't fully developed and they're not that strong. You can't simply declare that you're more powerful and win a fight.

Going along with the previous rule, your character only has the abilities that are on their character sheet. You can't just make up a random power for them because you wanted to or thought it would be useful.

All characters have weaknesses. You can't just say that they aren't affected by other people's powers because you want your character to win.

You can't control any character but your own. If you don't have an accepted character sheet, they're not yours to play. (There is, however, an exception for parents/family members/characters listed in your characters information sheet making minor appearances.)

Not everyone is going to like your character. In character or out, don't expect everyone to fall in love with your character, no matter how perfect you think they are. Along with this, don't just throw your character at someone else's character because you think they're cool.


NO CHARACTER BASHING
Please refrain from bashing anyone else's character. They worked hard on them and it's not your place to judge.

Constructive criticism on character's abilities and info with the intent of bettering the character is allowed.


LITERACY
Please attempt to be literate. We can understand that people misspell words and make typos, but that's no reason to "tak lyk dis, k?"

Literacy also means being able to hold a rational conversation, so try to keep smart, okay?


DRAMA
We can understand that people have drama in their lives, but keep it out of the chat. This includes any drama carried over from other clubs. Just leave it at the door.

In-Character drama is perfectly acceptable and somewhat encouraged.
Note: *Arcadium-School crossover roleplays are once again allowed. Have at it! Please try to keep Out Of Character drama out of the chats. Thanks!


NO BACK-TALKING MODERATORS
The mods are working WAY too hard to put up with anyone's attitude. Back talking will only make the situation worse for you.

If you have a dispute with one of the mods, try to remain polite and they'll gladly help you solve the problem. They're not going to eat your heart just because you have an issue.


THREE-STRIKE POLICY
People who choose to not follow the rules will be punished with three strikes.
Strike One
You will be temporarily moved to guests and only allowed in the chat while an active mod is online.
Strike Two
You will be banned for 3-4 days.
Strike Three
You will be completely expelled.


NO SPAMMING THE CHAT
Please refrain from spamming. It is not fun.

Joining Elysian Academy is a simple process. Decide whether you will be applying with a student, staff member, or teacher. For a student, please choose which of our four dorms your character would best be suited for. If you're unsure, please note the club or ask a mod, so that you don't have to go back later and change uniform colors.

Next, fill out one of our applications AND THEN NOTE IT TO THE CLUB:

Age: (Ageing times and ways may very. So give their age as listed by their Species age and their age in number of human years.)

Your Character if its a student they must be 13 or older, this is a High School after all. There is no shotacon or lolicon here. So no characters younger than 13 please.

An important thing to note! All future Professors MUST look over 25 in human years. Any character applying for a position who's age range is from 17 and up will be a Teacher's Aid.

Business Owners, tell us about your shop or business what are you selling? What are your hours and things? Why do you sell it? What do you do? Pretty much just pitch your character's business to us. Like a mini advertisement.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
We expect character sheets to be your best work. They must be fully colored and include 3/4 to a full-body shot of your character. If the character is a student, the character must be in uniform (and if the uniform is altered in any way, it must be approved before final submission).

A picture any other forms your character can take besides a humanoid one is also required (for example a werewolf would show us their human and their wolf form).

Please note the club with this information. The title line of your note should include the dormitory name or position to which you are applying (example: APP: AVALON, APP: STAFF/TEACHER, APP: TOWNSPERSON).


LAST BUT NOT LEAST
And once all this had been cleared and you've been accepted, you are allowed to join the group! Then you can submit your character sheet to the club and any art you create of him/her!

Please do not attempt to join before your character has been accepted.

Which dorm does my character belong in?
If you're still unsure about what dorm your character belongs in after reading the descriptions for each one, feel free to note the club and ask, or come into the chatroom to talk to the moderators about it.

Does my species have to have a human form? Can I just have an animal?
Your character MUST have a humanoid form. Just ask yourself, can my character wear the uniform basically as it is? It's completely fine if you want to have, say, a unicorn or phoenix. But your unicorn or phoenix must be able to change into a unicorn boy/girl, phoenix boy/girl, etc.

Can I have a human student?
Sure, why not. Though, I'm not sure how much fun that'd be...

How old can I make my student?
Your Character if its a student they must be 13 or older, this is a High School after all. There is a no shotacon or lolicon here. So no characters younger than 13 please,they can look younger but they must be 13 or older.


Do we need to have a unique species? What do you mean "unique" species?
For instance, don't just say elf, fairy, or cyborg, as those are very broad. Instead be more specific, such as dark elf, river nymph, etc.
NOTE: Also, we understand that there can be many different kinds of the same species (vampires, elves, or mermaid for instance). In that case, make sure to check the other students and make your character different in powers, background, etc. If you end up REALLY wanting to have the same species as someone else, that's fine, but please check out all the character sheets so you're not too close in appearance, personality, etc.

Can I have someone else do the art of my character?
Yes, just make sure to credit please.

Can I change/alter the uniform or make up my own?
Changes to the uniform are allowed but must be approved by the moderators before final character sheet posting.
And no, you may not make your own uniform.

Will there be assignments/events/etc? Is there a point to the classes?
Yes, very much yes. There will be events and classes and all that stuff!

Can I make up my own species/race/etc? Is it okay to use species from film and literature?
Of course! We encourage yo to branch out and create a new species, and it is perfectly fine to use a species that exists in film and literature. So long as it's not a dead rip-off of Frodo or Legolas!

Can I have more than one character?
Yes. You can have up to eight characters total. There are Teacher positions available and there is also and option to create Townspeople in the nearby town, but you can only make two of each, as this is a School-based Role Play club and we are encouraging creation of students.
Sibling characters and an exception to the character creation cap.

Here at Elysian Academy, we strive to help you and to make your entry and acclimation to our fine establishment as painless as possible. Here in the Administration Offices, we hope you'll be able to find all the information you need to speed your application and enrollment along. If, after reading all of our admission brochures and pamphlets, you still have questions, don't hesitate to send a note our way. We have many people standing by, just waiting to offer advice.

STUDENT UNIFORM RULES AND GUIDELINES


Standard school dress requirements/prohibitions are as follows:
THIS GOES FOR CHARACTER SHEETS WITH THE CHARACTER IN UNIFORM.
This does not apply to casual wear outside of uniforms.

1. There are now three different uniform selections to choose from that can be mixed and matched. Please only use these for your character sheets~

2. Students are expected to wear a button up white dress shirt with tie or solid colored shirt. (All printed shirts must be covered by a coat or dress shirt.)

3. Denim pants are not allowed while in classes.

4. Clothing depicting alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or other objectionable material is prohibited while in classes.

5. Caps or hats may not be worn inside buildings.

6. Pants are not to be heightened above the knee.

7. Skirts are not to be any shorter than mid thigh.

8. Accessories are allowed but are asked to be kept at a reasonable amount to the point that the uniform is no longer recognizable.

9. The adding of fabric or other trimmings must be passed by the mods for approval along with any other alterations to the uniform.

10. All alterations to the uniform must be cleared by a mod before the character sheet can be submitted.

HIBERNIA HALL

Named after Ireland's original title, Hibernia is home to the faery creatures of Elysian Academy. This dorm is full of of Irish and Celtic decor to show off it's name's roots. Celtic styled rugs cover the floor, and lovely Celtic brass door knockers add an elegance to the earthy wooden doors on the inside. Surrounded by small gardens for the fae of the dorm to feel more at home, it certainly looks just as lovely on the outside. Though be mindful where you wander, and mindful where you tread, for some of our students can be quite small and other can bring quite some dread.

Guethary is a small community, though it is made up of both residents whose families have lived there for generations, and newcomers, migrating in from elsewhere. The town itself has a rustic charm, but has kept up to date with the modern amenities such as cars, television, and phones.
It is the sort of place where everyone knows their neighbors, the streets are safe, and the police rarely have to be summoned for anything more serious than some drunks causing trouble.
The harmony here attracts many visitors as well as the students from the nearby school, Elysian Academy. It is also a known safe haven for magical creatures from all parts of the world.
