I dreamt that I was freefalling. It felt so real. I could feel the cold wind pierce through my skin and send chills down my spine. I wasn’t scared but curious as to how I got there. As I neared the ground I slowed down and landed softly on my feet. I was in some sort of city. It was desolate and it seemed that the place hadn’t been inhabited for a while. I was walking through the empty streets and I came upon a deli. There was a menu outside the door that said “Lunch Special” and listed various sub sandwiches. I went inside and saw that the shop was damaged. Chairs were flipped over and tables turned. I saw something dart out of the corner of my eye. I turned around and standing in the doorway was a deer. I was frozen stiff in my place. I finally decided to exhale and I scared him off on accident. I ran out the door and chased after him down the sidewalk. I felt light on my feet. I was actually catching up with him. I was so close I could reach out and touch its white tail. It was when he passed an alleyway that a lion jumped out and attacked the deer in a single sweep. I slid to a halt and hid behind a mailbox. The lion didn’t notice me. The lion must have been a lone because I knew that lionesses usually hunt and kill, not the males. I sat there terrified, afraid to peek out my head and look but I did anyway. I slowly peered out and the lion was staring right in my eyes. The deer was on the ground, slain, it’s guts poured out onto the ground. Instead of attacking me, it nudged the deer with its snout as if to say he wanted to share the dead carcass with me. I had made a friend. Then I heard a sound of clapping. I looked to see where it was coming from. My eyes landed on the alleyway. All of a sudden 7 deer came into view. They had their heads down with their antlers pointed towards us. They were charging. They were about three feet away when I felt the lion scoop me up onto his back and sprint off. The deer were chasing after us for killing their comrade and they wanted revenge. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I closed my eyes and buried my face in his mane. When I opened my eyes I was staring at my ceiling.
