Well, cousins, I've been busy busy busy. I've started school again (haha, community college, but what can you do, eh? I'm seeking a double major as gold prospector/cab driver.) I'm going to be part of a local craft sale/fair deal on October 3rd, so I've been sewing like a madman getting ready for it. I'm doing a whole series of HALLOWEEN beasties that you guys are gonna LOVE- I can't wait to show you all
And I've been writing again! I finally sat down and got the very beginning of the Sawbones story done. I've attempted writing the beginning about a thousand and one times, and now I FINALLY have it! The story has changed so much and it's really, really exciting to see how all the characters grow and interact and go backpacking and have car-chases and try to deceive each other c;
I haven't been doing a ton of drawing these past weeks, as a result of doing more crafting/writing/reading, but I have rather a lot of cleaned-up sketches; do you guys want to see 'em?

I know I've been really quiet on the dA front, but once things settle down I'll be back in full force.

You guys make me happy, I hope you've all been doing swell.

And CUSTOM PLUSHIES!!! Aren't you excited? I'M excited! I'm working on two examples of what character plushies will look like so I'll have those up for you soon, but in the mean time, if you're at all interested in a random and fun itfollowedmehome plush, this is what the general pricing looks like:



Smaller plushies (7-10 inches tall) like Ingo [link] cost $15-20. That's pretty much the smallest I make.

The largest of my plushies (think Phinneus [link] and Ourse [link]) range between $40-50.

Anything falling in between the largest and smallest sizes will of course be priced accordingly, so size is pretty much based on how much you're wanting to spend. An example of this would be this fellow [link] . He's what I'd consider a medium-ish size (haha, general much?) and he would normally sell for $30.

I like to be flexible with sizes and styles, so if there's a particular "look" you like, or if you want something that resembles a plush I've already made, do tell me! It's essentially an "anything goes" type deal.



Commissions for art and plushies are basically open indefinitely. I'll be updating my official commission information which will include new examples of what you can get, so be looking for that journal near the end of this week.

1.) I've been a pescetarian since the beginning of 2008 (it was my new year's resolution.)

2.) I go walking for an hour every evening and I feel restless and anxious if I don't.

3.) Last October I donated blood at my school and instead of going back to class when it was done I sort of wandered away down the street. I felt pretty okay but I had stayed up late the night before, and after walking for about twenty minutes I went and had a nap on someone's porch.

4.) I love tuxedo jackets, especially old style men's dinner jackets if the shoulders aren't too big. I found the best jacket (with TAILS for crying out loud) a week back, and it was old and looked amazing but good lord was it expensive. So I didn't get it :c

5.) I think pianos are fantastic. I have a keyboard that I noodle on, but old pianos are such beautiful instruments and have such incredible sound. My mom's friend has a Steinway and I go over to their house to play it every chance I get. I can play bits and pieces of songs, but I'm not really serious about it. I'd like to take formal lessons some day though...

6.) I really only enjoy swing dancing. I am some bizarre old lady at heart, but seriously, at the few school dances I went to I was like "wtf, how do people dance to this shit" and I was certainly NOT impressed.

7.) I have two older brothers and the three of us have always been really tight, and over time hanging out with them has given me a boyish sense of humor. Not crude, necessarily- I get really annoyed when people make stupid crude jokes, and I'll call them out for not being clever. That's my only qualification for any joke- you can say whatever you want so long as it's clever.

8.) This relates to number 7: most of my friends are boys. I still have girl friends, but not as many. I guess I'm more used to getting along with fellas, but I really don't like being "one of the guys."

For those of you who celebrate it, I hope you had a very wonderful Halloween yesterday, and for those of you who don't, I hope you enjoyed the month of October very much. The weather is finally starting to turn chilly here, and that makes me quite happy. I am working on a painting of sorts that I can't wait to show you guys, and I have many new ideas for drawings. I'm starting to work on my college applications and things, which admittedly has me acting a bit nervous and stressed, but never mind. I am trying to ignore and listen to what my neighbors are yelling about simultaneously, and it has me very distracted- that confusion might be coming across as we speak (as it were).

Having an excellent reason to leave the house looking like the living dead, and eating mellocream pumpkins and candycorn till I can't stand up.

Hm, y'know for me it's not even a song, but you know those CDs of spooky halloween noises you get at Stats and places like that and play for instant ambience? THOSE sum up Halloween for me, I love those things.

I am *almost* sure I saw and felt the same one. I was spending the night at a friend's house, and I had gotten up in the night to get a glass of water. I was upstairs, and I saw something white and shimmering at the head of the stairs. It looked a bit like a cloud or moonlight, only there was no moon that night (I'm always surprised that I remember that.) I was kinda nervous looking at it, but I was really thirsty too, and in the end my desire for a glass of water sorta overpowered me. So I walked forward, and just as I got about a foot away from the shimmery-white shape it disappeared, but as soon as I stepped through where it had been I went dead cold.

10. What about other things that go bump in the night?

Oh god, my hands went all clammy at the mere thought. My logical side says no, but my over-active-imagination side says maybe.

11. Tell me about something that scared you during Halloween.

Watching scary movies at a buddy's house, and then having to walk back home. In the dark. Alone. Okay, so actually I *ran* home.

12. Where is the scariest place you've been on Halloween?

The woods.

Oh! I just remembered there's something I've been meaning to ask you all: I'm going marker shopping soon, because all my greys and most of my blues need replacing. But I want to get a few new colors as well, because otherwise a trip to the art store is simply wasted.
SO, does anyone have any marker color suggestions for me? This might seem like a dumb question, but there are simply so many that I come away feeling a little intimidated. But last time, I picked up a lovely green prismacolor that I didn't think I needed, so THAT was good.
So (again), if there's a particular color that YOU like very much, or you just have an idea for a nice color in general, or something like that, please suggest away.
I usually stick to Prismacolors, but I'll buy a Tria or a Copic if you make it sound attractive enough.

"to the waist" badge - $10
-like it says, a character drawn to the waist, with their name in pretty letters, and perhaps something clever in a speech bubble, if you want that. These badges are about 7'' tall. For these I can either cut them out and holepunch+laminate, or just send you the entire page it was drawn on.

elongated bust - $15
your character drawn to the knees, with a simple background. These are about 10'' tall, and I will send you the entire page it was drawn on.

Full page (one character) - $20
So for this one, your character can either be drawn somewhere to the knees or something, or it can actually be a full body shot of them, feet and all- just specify which you would like. I don’t know how better to describe these than saying that you will receive a full page of all kinds of marker, stamp, and sticker goodness going on, and that it will look like the example pic.
Oh, and a full page from my sketchbook is 12’’ and 9’’ wide.

Full page (two characters) - $30
Basically the same as the style above, only with two characters instead of one.

Plushies - $25
If you want a plush made of your character, $25 is the starting price, but it will only move up from there if you have a really elaborate design in mind. The standard pattern I’m going to use is the Bradly Kitty one ([link]), which is about fifteen inches tall, but if you have another style in mind that you’d like me to use, I’d love to hear it!
As far as fabric is concerned, I don’t use much felt, but try to find more interesting (and generally more soft and woolly) materials.
Also, I should probably add that a plush doesn't necessarily need to be of a character, but if you want some weird critter like Quord ([link]), that's cool too.

Looking for a neat alternative to the standard laminated con badge? I’m offering these oversized felt pins at a starting price of $15 (but again, the price can move up if your design is a little more involved). So I planning of updating her ref sheet (which is terrible anyways) to include that detail.
So again, I'm not annoyed or anything, like 'ho my GAWD you guys got her completely WRONG!" because that would be dumb, but I just wanted to get it out there.

1. I love watching people play videogames, but I don't particularly like playing them myself.

2. I have a thing for suit jackets. I don't know why, but sometimes I wear my brother's and it's like dress-up, I feel very sharp and haha, "grown up". But when I look at myself in the mirror the whole giant padded shoulders thing makes me laugh, 'cause I look real silly.

3. When I'm in class, I get a piece of lines paper and fold it until it's a quarter its original size. Then I write little random stories about my characters and stuff in this really tiny handwriting all over it. I've been doing it for about two or three years and I now have a three inch stack of them sitting on my shelf.

4. In english class (yeah, another school fact), I have these really elaborate daydreams in which I'm either playing piano in a concert hall, or talking to my brothers on the phone in the front of the class (yeah, I don't know what that's about either).

5. My favourite movie is Jaws, but I don't really know why.

- very simple, a basic headshot with your character's name and a speech bubble. I have a preliminary example here [link] to show you the basic layout, but they'll be much nicer than this, of course, and I should have a better example uploaded soon. These are about 6'' wide and 5'' tall.

"to the waist" badge- $10
-like it says, a character drawn to the waist, with their name in pretty letters, and perhaps some clever speech bubble words if I'm feeling particularly witty. Or whatever. These badges are about 7'' tall. For these I can either cut them out and holepunch+laminate, or just send you the entire page it was drawn on.

I spent the better part of today on the computer, and while I did I slowly composed an email to myself, a little at a time. The following is that email, and is just a collection of small thoughts and little reminders. Posting this because I got tired of seeing the words of my last journal.
Oh, and something strange happened: I was cleaning up my gallery, and was looking at some of my older pictures, when I discovered that the comments on those older had mysteriously vanished! Pictures I was sure had been commented on suddenly had nothing. It was very strange. But it was all old hat anyway.
