The anime 3d models that i always use will receive an update.
They are, at first, 3D GAME models, not made for animation renders, but they also work for that purpose nowadays, since computers are now strong enough to withstand 6000-7000 poly models in my cheap game engine.
With this, i'm re-making the base male and female models of my animations, and i also plan to create diferent styles for universal characters (actors that need little editing to became somebody else) ranging from realistic looking old people to middle-aged ones.
My style is very simplistic, but time-consuming nevertheless, and i have only spare time to work with.
Also, i'm plannning on making small comic shorts with other characters for exposure purposes only around the brazilian animation community, who have a strong say when selecting works for goverment funding around here.
My main goal is still the development of solo game-making techniques using a wide range of tools at my disposal - i'm almost concluding the scenario/character range step.
Time is of essence, and doing ANYTHING else is precious time throwed away in the garbage can.... i really hate to stop for eat and sleep

Long story short: My last "Paid Challenge" wasn't exacly been PAID for three months and i ended it up in bad terms with the "boss". My lawyer said there won't be a problem receving it legally, let's see about that.
Back in game development, i'm back with 3d gamestudio and trying to separate scenarios in only one block of model with 2048x2048 textures, even with ALL engine aspects needing some serious updates: i have to re-make the characters, the combat system, redo those awfull icons and intros and all i care about right now is some stupid cave scenario for the first part of the game, coincidently made to cover-up all game and modelling mechanics involved in the title.
The workload is so depressingly high that i feel i should begin making MODS for already published games, like X3: Terran Conflict or some other proprietary high end engine... but i don't have the courage to throw away all the work piled up so far, even it being as simple as they are, so it's modelling time for me now, again.
I need to stablish a new modelling procedure for the new models, without a routine anything i model take ages.

I aways assemble a large library of my models and 3d actors for a variety of projects, because i might end up neeing fast results, and a neat library can come in handy in times of need. I'm just being paranoid, but my paranoia just paid off recently, in a VERY unexpected way.
Fact is, besides Villikon, i was also attending several meetings with people around here planning on doing movies, events, comics, you name it. Needless to say, not a SINGLE project lift off, and for two times i wasted precious time and resources doing presentations and storyboards for this bunch. When once again i decided to do things my way and alone, one of the contacts called me for a "job" in a online TV, same involved in one of my biggest time wasting weeks. I tought to myself: "I'll just state what i am, what i do and what i CHARGE, and they'll sent me away", but for my surprise this one was PAYING for stuff, but he's was also a very demanding client (who asked for promotional prices and late payings anyway), making me work overnight during the whole christmas and new year's eve on HIS failed projects.
But he did buried everthing he had in his account on that place, and i was willing to prove that my presence MAKES the difference, so i swallowed my pride and decided to make stuff that i wouldn't do even for myself.
Needless to say, every single one of my late 'contacts' have something negative to say about me being involved 24/7 with only one bad pay, but compared to the NO pays, it wasn't that bad.
I got again my old fast solving production pace and learned a lot about video editing and webpage custom creation (amazing how ignorant i was on those fields). I had to learn by myself, of course.
Both the money and the experience will prove invaluable for my next projects, but those i'm still not sure what they will be... but something i know: I'll be in charge of it. Not to be megalomaniac, but as the old saying goes... if you want it done right, do it yourself!

Five months ago, i didn't had no idea of what i was getting myself into.
"CG for a real movie? A sci-fi with monsters, space vampires, robots and armored soldiers in spaceships?!? I'm in!" i said.
Turn's out that Villikon Chronicles is still in development, and it's still just a TRAILLER, a TEASER, for now... and has been the most challenging production i ever entered.
I placed both my equipment and my knowlege on the limit for this - thing is, i NEVER had to make a real, high-resolution, heavy meshed, detail rich animations like those before.
Nothing like this, even when i worked for the street pannels.
And even so, i still can't stop spotting 'errors' inside the scenes i did... artist thing, i hope
I just recently solved a long time bug that haunted me in all my characters: self-touching deforming anatomy.
Only a production with the requirements of Villikon Chronicles could make me spent a month developing details of a single character... and that allowed me to correct a long time buggy nightmare that put a stop i all my short CG movie projects!
I'm really satisfied with the results. You guys see animated stuff like this in every Hollywood production, generally better, i know, but when it's YOU who accomplish the feat, you can't help but fell proud
It's a pity i can't post ANY of the CG scenes assembled so far. Bryan Kinnaird himself asked me (AND made me sign a contract of secrecy) to hold everthing until the Teaser were out.
I hope this project turns into a movie, it would be a professional blast (AND a financial one too) to work in the real deal.
I'll finish "Contos de Eris", my 2D RPG, as soon as Villikon Chronicles is in the can.
I should have finished this game a year ago, but... well, delays, delays. It will be completed, i promise - even if it takes WAY too much time for a single player game.
A Good thing about 2D games are, different than the 3D ones, they never get outdated

Recently, i was rendering fully animated sequences to my game, and making it happen big time here, when a friend of mine called in inviting me to help in the production of a short movie from a sci-fi book called the VILLIKON CRONICHLES.
The movie has been shot already, and the creative pos-production started with all volunteer working, and i was invited to participate.
My first 'audiction' was the modeling of a larg monster called the SANDWHALE, wich i did quite fast and almost without referneces - the producers liked the result and now i'm charge of the modeling and animation of monsters, robots, spaceships, battles, etc.
Pity, i can't show none here while the production isn't over (signed a contract of discretion) but the models aren't half bad
How much it will take to finish? That's what i'm curious about: from the 7 needed models for the sequence i'm charge off, 2 models were been assembled already, one approved and one being render as i type this, so my guess is more two months for the initial animations to begin.
As soon as i receive clearence, i'll post the cinematics and models here in DA

Animation get's a bit slow, but it's better than nothing... was assembling the next cutscene with a ton of characters in the screen, but it seems that 5 million polys can't be rendered safely in my machine (crashed the last two times i tryied, even after adding 1 giga of extra RAM), so i have to think of something.
Prolly the grass fault - i'll switch those heavy grass with something lighter.

Okay, the year is drawing to an end, and i didn't finish the job i was SUPPOSED to do right in the beggining of it.
I'll be creating a fórum and a official site for this game, and all of my work and projects.
I've been drifting from my game development project to animated CG cartoon ones - the fastest result shall became my main priority, since TIME is now my biggest enemy.
Don't need to mention that i didn't had time to post anything, but frankly idon't WANT to post the stuff i've been doing... is all but a buncha of rendered tests, and i'd need to fix them to post.
I feel like an amateur...
The purpose of that simple 2D engine was to give me flexibility to assemble a good game fast, but for some reason i wasn't feeling well to keep with this engine because of it's limitations, hence the looooooooong time to assemble it.
The dogs are growing all off-donation size, and there are 5 left to donate, so i must be quick and spread some more adds of puppy donation around here.
I also achieved only few results lately, most because of those dogs, they eat up 5 - 8 hours of a working day after tuesday, so i'll be solving the dog's problem first.
Hopefully, i'll be able to post some stuff and give links to my sites and forums as soon everthing's ready. (knocks on wood)
Stay tuned...

Okay, jornal update. From the 16 puppies for donation, we brought 4 home to easy donate them for some people, while the other 12 were left in the empty house.
From there, 5 puppies have been donated, one form here and four from the house, leaving 8 puppies for donation.
We grow attached to them at each passing day, so we NEED to donate they fast or we'll get stuck with dogs, lol.
The constant travels to take care of them just eat away my time and disposition to do stuff... had to cancel gym for now, maybe i'lll be back to it next year.
Haven't been had any time to make a movie for DA or any other site, but i did slaped together the beta of my new game package... the box has two sizes and i printed it in a local graphic shop for 20 USD, just to see how it would look like.

[link]

Now all it need is it for me to finish it already!
Seems like i should try slapping together some hand-made 2D art for the box and the game... that's will force me to buy another scanner/printer, since mine died two years ago.
Now, the BAD news: my own game is crashing in my computer! In any big fight scene, the game shrinks the screen and crashes... that doesn't happen with in my friends computer, so obviously it's time to upgrade my PC. SIGHT... i HATE to swap computers: the old one is left around occupying space, all the pain of reinstallinng EVERTHING... aaaaghhh.
But if i'm serious with this project, that's something i'll HAVE to do.

Well, let's try and update this Journal. gonne to a comic convention in a art college this saturday with friends, and tried to make a 12 page comic in 12 hours... we get there at 6:00 PM when the time limit was up to 9:00, so you guess i wasn''t able to do anything but a raft_storyboard comprised o 4 pages.
After that, my friend missed the bus and sleep over my apartment, then we passed the whole sunday watching "Irresponsible Captain Taylor"... during 8 hours straight (only more three hours tho finishing watching the whole show).
The pippies all have grow and are ready to be adopted, thing is... nobody want a dog around here nowadays.
There's a BIG chance of all them , including the mothers, to go to the state pound and be immediatly sacrificed.
Course, they have to pass over my dead body first, but other than that, i don't know what to do if we can't fin people to adopt them... animals ONG around here are a problem, i'll try a trick this friend of mine suggested: place an add in the "mercado livre" (a kind of brazilian E-Bay) and 'sell' the puppies for USD$0,50 each... mybe it will work! I have just save another one from a hole recently (HE was BURIED TO THE NECK!!!), so i better hurry.
In other news: just made the 'beta' DVD box cover of my game, it came out cool, i think. Will post it in my scraps later. The game now runs direcly from the DVD and saves into the HD, just like a videogame... no install needed. I'll start speeding things up with it as soon as i can.
Also: Deviant Art accepeted me as a FILM MAKER and now i can submit Deviant FIlms!
Thing is, since EVEN the music must be mine, i'll have to create something entirely new to post in FILM category... maybe a beta Opening o my game, who knows.
My Audio set here sucks, so the music won't be any good either... we'll see.

It has been weeks since i started to go to the place were i was supposed to build my school/studio, not to clean the place but to take care of two pregnant dogs left by the last tenant.
The tenant in question was a messy old fat woman who didn't feed the dogs and broke the place to Oblivion, just them decided to neither pay the rent, nor water and eletric bills.
She then tought that we were putting her out of the house because of the DOGs, and next morning a neighbour of ours saw the two pregnant dogs lying outside her doorsteps.
We then got there and pointed the obvious: we didn't want the DOGS out of the house, we wanted HER out of the house! She then abandoned the two dogs (now both with 16 puppies) and a house almost demolished with illegal water/electrical conections. Water and Eletric companyes didn't care when we reported the illegal conetions, now then want US to pay fines for it. Water and eletricity were finally cutted down for good there.
Every day, either me or my father (who owns a car and lives nearby the place) go there to clean the dogs dirt and feed them.
In one of my turns, i found one of the puppies dead, an three missing. After a through search, i found the three of them in the BOTTOM OF A DEEP HOLE in the garden... the dog gave birth to them in the gardem, and she often bring the puppies there if the place were we placed the blankets get cold.
I managed to take the puppies out of the hole, but after that i've been going there almost daily about a month - one train and one bus to get there - and opened the door in the back of the house and let the puppies and their mothers to stay INSIDE the house, as i wanted at first.
Last time i went there, the other dog was missing three puppies... i searched the house upside down yeterday, made three travels back-an forth from the place (first i forgot the house keys, them i learned that the black dog had 10 puppies, not seven, and traveled back to check).
The three travels took me from 10:00 in the morning to MIDNIGHT, and won a blistered feet (still hurts like hell to walk).
I never founded the puppies - i brought a flashlight and a shovel to search for them during the night, but no luck. They ARE NOT IN THAT HOUSE.
Someone took them - the house's surrounded by high walls and barricated doors, so someone with a KEY and access the house took them.
I'm suspicious of my father, who had been mumbling about when i ask him, but i can accuse without proof...
Nevertheless, gave a copy of the front gate key to a trusted neighbor to open/lock doors in the house and refill the water for them.
Yellow dog's puppie are well feed an already opened their eyes, black dog's puppies are heavy crybabies (they cry even if they're eating!!) and are all alive, well-feed and protected.
Sometimes i wonder why i made those 5 hours three travels there... maybe because of the dead puppie i found, mouth filled with maggots and everthing keeps hounting me.
Never found out why it died (he was lying alone in the middle of the stone yard, arounf with the mother feces).
And still haven't found out what had become of blackye's three missing puppies...

That's about the strangest situation i ever found myself. I packed everthing, i was ready to open business, when the place i was moving to... become temporaly unavailable. I then snatched the opotunity for a LITTLE break, and decided to play X3:reunion and EVE online afterwards.
...i'll only say that: next game title i'll work on MUST be a space simulator. I'll place X3 aside and talk about EVE... damn thing took away my moving plans.
I've heard about people who sometimes disappears for 2-3 months because of a game, but never paid any attention. UNTIL NOW, that is.
Suffice to say: after one week flying solo, i entered in a player owned corp and the game becamed far more enthralling (is that the word?), placing EVERTHING ELSE in second plane. Mining Operations, PVP training sessions, joint fight operations and two wars eated my brain out this last month. AND I STILL CONSIDERED A NEWBIE THERE!
Before you snith at me, hear this advise: if you like RPGs and Space sims, but don't have free time and isn't a game addiction resistant person... STAY AWAY FROM EVE ONLINE!
... i recently lost my Battlecruiser in a sloopy operation against an aggresive group of pirates who declared war on us, so now i can train skills offgame (yes, the character keeps training WHILE you're NOT IN THE GAME), lay low inside the station and TRY to slow down the presence there.
Insuring ships to recover money in case of ship destructtion, creating clones of yourself in case of death, training skills and more skills in what i believe is the most addicting and complex game in the market took his tool on me, and i finally able to play a little bit less without withdraw sintoms. Needless to say, i'm driving people back here in my home INSANE.
One o the worst point is that this game has 14 days trial time, 2 weeks... wich is just the time you take to get hooked on it. CCP (the softwarehouse) is a game DRUG DEALER.
I'll retake my production and my life correctly, from now on. I'd love to talk about some ships, but the enemy may read this and use the info against me (yes, is THAT serious). Loose lips sink ships, literally in this case. And i had my SHARE of sinked ships recently
But i'm still eager to do some EVE related fan art

That's right. He's a goner. From the past year or so, this machine has given many signals of overuse and bugs; now its officially DYING.
For one, i can't turn it off anymore: before, at each reset, the PC needed a cold boot or windows would crash - every time it was turned on/off, it needed a reset or weird things crashed it, at the beggining. No biggie, but now he simple don't want to START AGAIN; and i cannot pimpoint the guilty hardware on this one. Is it RAM? Power? Processor? Hard Drive? Me guesses it is EVERTHING!
And that just had to happen NOW, when someone wanted to comission me for models to a game, more of that later, but the timing of those crashes is simple AWFUL. Hopefully, i was able to backup all essentials.
The start button on the PC turns itself on/off countinuously if pressed, often after this the machine start to beep incessantly without starting, and when it starts windows crashes at the initialization. I didn't sleep last night trying to make it work again. Then suddenly, it started working again by itself, like magic or something.
Windows simply didn't detect errors on the HD when booting, and without the errorcheck it would constantly crash... until it decided to do it, thanks to the power of GOD himself!
I'll start buying and installing a new Hard Drive - a large one, also for Backup purposes - and then, if things keep crashing like this, is bye-bye to this motherboard and it's cheap processor, to the RAM and to the main videocard, cuz i'll buy everthing ANEW.
And according to past experiences, this WILL take days... i hope to return to my normal life soon.

They where two: the female dog Daphne and her daugther totoca, Koker mixed race, but with ALL the health problems of the pure blood types. Daphne was always healthy as a bull, but totoca had developed epilepsy problems and has to take medications twice a day to stay alive.
But that's the surprise: It was DAPHNE who had been taken away from us to the great canil in the sky... in four days, she developed DIABETES and got herself checked into a veterinariam clinic... she died thin and thirsty by the second day there, and i was the last of the family he saw a few hours from departing from this world. Mom cryed a lot, she was a family member in this house for 8 years. We miss her horribly.

As weird as it can be, a digital designer nerd-otaku like me just started doing bodybuilding in a gym two weeks ago.
Reason? Very simple: i'm roting alive. Two days before i started, i feel the strongest, stinging pain in my legs, and realised that it was rougly 15 years ago that i did my last sport, whathever it was. So, in order to STAY ALIVE, i decided to pump some irons and kill 2 hours of my day EVERIDAY, for the rest of my life.
Still finish the 2D game demo, just bought 3D gamestudio to ressurrect my old engine, doing some hentai art for the DA pervs to add viewcounts, that sorta thing, but with less time now.
Still, they said that i'll see some pratical results in 6 months.
Before that? Before that, i'll be that ridiculous fat white in the back of the gym, crying because i can't raise a 5 pound iron 15 times in a row.
...then again, i been told that most people give up two months after start just because they suffer without seeing results... well, i'll try to resist the temptation

All right, i always developed 3d models for realtime 3d games, and then i stopped everthing to make a 2d game with pre-rendered 3d graphics, etc, etc. Ooh, ah.
Well, that said, the last year was a complete work-around-the-clock to make scenarios and models for an RPG game - all by myself. Why? Simple, i wanted to turn game-making into something as self-authored as... writing a book. Me the artist, writer, programmer, everthing. Of course, conventional 3d engines woundn't work for that, so i choosed the simpliest of them all, and revamped scripts and graphics to accomodate my already damaged ego. Result is: a game that everybody will play, i hope.

PROS:

-Light engine enables the game to run in almost any windows-based PC;
-Simple RPG system abolishes any learning curve;
-Large pre-rendered 3D graphics mask out the feeling of "lousy 2D engine".
- Cool anime style, AVG like conversations helps the RPG mood. Animated Battles also helps to keep the "old school RPG" games mood.
- Thanks to easy of implementation, main NPCs have smart reactions to equipment, level, and decisions made.

CONS:

- IS a 2D game.
- Is made in RMXP, a ruby script "toy engine".
- Some people may not like the 3d style of the characters.
- Non-isometric. The game is always seen from a top-down, 45 degrees angle, always facing North or East.

...I'll possibly heard a lot more "CONS" from people, but for now that's all i can think off. Game's on BETA and a demo will soon be uploaded, both in portuguese and english. It already has 380 Megas of graphics, and the only placed i placed screenshots for feedback was here on DA and Cranckeye Fórum of RMXP - where everybody is complaining of the tardiness of the demo (elected me second most boring member!).
And that's it. I just sliped up in Commander's Cisse scripts, where he's supposed to react to level an companions presence - two girls - and got stuck with a 16 variations dialogue script. Man, living and learning. It will be completed, but don't expect any other NPC having that much complex scripts!
Since Cisse is a main NPC is okay, but for speed purposes i'm cutting down reactions from the Ratman's cave main mission. I'll hope to giving news of the demo uploading still this month. (knocking in the wood).

Aaannnd that's it: my game sucks, the engine choice is lame, the 3D art could use a LOT of tune-up, but i'm the INDIED EXTREME and - incredible - is more fun and playable than MANY 'professional' titles out there. And i'm saying that cuz is truth, not because i'm the all powerfull mastermind behind it.
As always, i CAN'T help but find problems where there's none, plan more characters that can't be added in time, etc. This demo has eated me alive, and some people might wonder why the hell it was made in the first place.
I started with Ackentix 3D studio, developed my own engine, and after a while the bugs and engine limitation become unbearable. Then i tried TORQUE - a very useful engine! If you have an ARMY of programmers, that is. Then, i got over the edge with a simple, lame 2D engine.
This 2D title will be my first, it will have EVERTHING i liked in the good old school titles, plus my 3d art. Compatible with ANY windows PC, i doubt someone in the planet will complain of bugs. There's no bug in this (not the crash-back-to-desktop tipe, tought).
In any case, is almost done. After all wonderfull ideas about how i should make the official site, i downgarded myself to simple HTML links and maybe some Flash art , all in a pitch black background.
Three pages of it, and thats it, the oficial site. Te videos, comics and stuff will have to wait.
And that's it. Back to work.

PORTUGUÊS:
Certo, certo... vou resumir bem resumido, que é pra não encher ninguém:
-Janeiro de 2006: desisto de montar um game no Torque por que sinto que estou totalmente por fora dos scripts, decido estudar o RPGMXP um pouco pra referência;
-1 mês depois: Decido que o software é bom o suficiente pra fazer um game 2D decente a ponto de ser comercial. Deixa de ser referência e passa a ser projeto principal;
Toda a modelagem consome o restante disponível do tempo.
-AGORA: finalizando o DEMO dessa coisa, estou montando a site oficial pra todos poderem baixar o game.

-BATTLEFIELD 2
-HITMAN 4 - Blood money
-X2 - the Threat
-SUIKODEN V
-The Godfather the GAME
-FAR CRY
-OBLIVION
-EVIL GENIUS
No total, perdi mais ou menos um mês e meio com games. Ainda estou psicologicamente normal (?) pelo menos.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ENGLISH:
O-kay: i'm gonna make it short, so to not get anybody bored to death:
-January, 2006:I just give up on Torque game engine for now - too lame on torquescripts, decide to study RMXP up a little for development ideas;
-One month later: I just notice that this piece of software is actually good - if you are able to script and make your own graphics, of course. Plan to assemble a little game for profit using all it's resources.
-Three months more: Just got the hang of it, changed almost all scripts to fit my graphic standards (bigger characters, more animations), but still amateur if compared to budgeted games. Nonetheless, good enough to beat a lot of Indies around
-More two months:Just writeed the basic story, main plot and world setup (for a more solid story and plot approach). Modeled most of the main characters. Tried to make .AVI animations to play in this engine, without luck. I Just accept the fact that there will be NO avi cutscenes and move on.
-ALL MONTHS LATER: Stuck in my studio, entombed like a nutcase, i started to systematically model about EVERTHING in the game: monsters, scenarios, NPCs, Effects, icons, pictures, converting MID music to actual good quality MP3... Also, made up a lot of techniques to try on animated backgrounds, transition sequences, result variations on rooms chalenges, etc. This just eats up the remaining months of the year.
-NOW: As i finish up this thing, i just realize that i may be able to make more money with donations and adsense rather than selling the game online, since nobody would pay for a RMXP title EVEN if it was as good as Baldurs Gate. Finishing touching up all the everthing on the game events and assembling this official site.

EXTRA WASTE OF TIME: Periodically, to keep my sanity (?), i decided to play and study some game titles. This really taked a lot of time, as you must imagine. Here's some titles (the ones who took up more than three days to finish):
-BATTLEFIELD 2
-HITMAN 4 - Blood money
-X2 - the Threat
-SUIKODEN V
-The Godfather the GAME
-FAR CRY
-OBLIVION
-EVIL GENIUS
All in all, those titles alone eated about a month and a half from my productions. I still sane, thought.
