Anyway, I would like to give a shoutout to all webcomic artists out there. I cannot imagine being as diligent and consistenly funny as all of you are out there, and I really admire your dedicated and skill to do something you don't get paid for. It's a really amazing testimony to your artistic ability and reliablity as a person, and it's really awesome for those of you who keep at it. I don't know that I'd have that kind of stamina.

That being said, I went to an anime convention for the first time this past weekend. It was small, but fun, if not a little embarassing when you're cosplaying as Aerith and fanboys keep asking to pose with you and take your picture. . Anyway, while I was there, I met who had a wonderful art table set up. I watched her draw (she's awesome with watercolor pencils, I totally admire her @_@) and she was kinda enough to sell me some of her original art. Anyway, go check her out, she's a great artist and really fun! ^_^

I'm Eviemira and eight things about me are:

1. I am a Christian and my identity is in Jesus Christ, before anything else (a girl, an American, a college student, a daughter, a sister, an artist, etc.) I am a follower of the Lord God and His Son.

2. I have a cat named MewMew (unrelated to Tokyo Mewmew in anyway).

3. At least every four to six months I dye my hair. (usually to red from the brown color it grows naturally.)

4. I LOVE to dance-rave to techno music (omgosh, Nightcore. Sooooo addictive o.O)

5. When I was fourteen I promised myself I'd never, ever watch anime because it was "cheap, ugly, overdramatic, oversexual, sexist, and/or stupid." ...then Kingdom Hearts came out and changed my life . Just kidding, guys.

6. I am a severe SWC. This means "Strong-Willed Child." i.e. If you tell me "exit now" on the highway in order to get to where I want to go, I say "I will NOT exit here, because you TOLD me to exit here. I'm going to do things my way thank you very much!" <-- this is a bad thing to be, y'all and God is having to train me out of it.

7. My favorite color is red ^_^

8. When I was 12 my definition of cool was "the stylishly cool pretty and feminine yet street smart and sporty girl who hung out at video game arcades." I have yet to achieve this status of cool and doubt I ever will; I'm too princessy-- which although it doesn't fit my definition of "cool" does suit my purposes for "on the way to being godly" and self satisfaction.

What's up with the fanart haters on DA?




... and what's up with all the hypocrites who condem fanart because they're running into it so much 'CAUSE THEY'RE SEARCHING FOR IT (and are tired of running into 'badly done' (a.k.a. beginning artists' ) work)?


in my opinion, it's like NOBODY'S BUSINESS whether you draw fanart or not except your own. If people like it, super, they wanna fav it, that's awesome. They don't, that's their bad sitch and they need to deal. All these blogs on hating fanart are really obnoxious to me and discourage people from sharing the art they produce or from drawing all together because they are too intimidated to try coming up with their own stuff and are ostricized for drawing fanart. YES, I've heard the reason (and I personally feel it's an excuse for people to rag on others) that fanart inhibits your own creativity. Well if people want to stay inhibited (BECAUSE DRAWING FANART IMPROVES THEIR DRAWING SKILLS THROUGH PRACTICE (albeit of someone else's ideas/characters--but characters that are out in the public domain and avaliable for anyone to copy)) that's their own bad deal, isn't it? Why do people get all elitsit and get all hung up on bashing fanart? C'mon people, let's be mature. o.O

And no, in case you're wondering, no one's been giving me a hard time about fanart at all (you guys are awesome and I can't tell you how much I love reading your comments. I know pretty much everyone of you (granted, by your avie and screenname but still, I am never like 'wha? who's that, and why are they commenting?' ) and want to thank you for putting up with me and checking out my art. You're all very encouraging and I love look at your art too! ~. I've just been seeing a lot of other people complaining/bashing the number of fanart (particularly of VGs and animes) and I don't think that's fair.

You ever notice how we never draw guys' armpit hair? But we are "allowed" to draw their nipples? Look at King Triton; Tarzan; Aladdin (wait-- I don't think he had either) that dude from Sinbad -- and there are more examples too. Why don't we draw the pit hair? I suppose it is deemed vulgar or unattractive. So is chest hair I guess. So why are we "allowed" to draw man-nipples in a kids' genre? To me, that is more offensive than hair. *gags*

I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I am excited to see Ariel again, being ARIEL, not a redhead in a pink dress and golden crown to be sold on every piece of Princess merchandise. (Not that I'm against that, I buy up that stuff as much as the next four year old girl, but it's not all that Ariel is, and that's pretty much all we've been seeing lately.) Secondly, the important voices are back, and the animation appears to be the same as the people who did The Little Mermaid II, which wasn't bad. All in all if it feels like something out of The little Mermaid TV series, I'll be ecstatic.

However...

If it's not, I'm gonna be one unhappy camper. We already know how Flounder met Ariel, there was an episode about it (a very cool episode with the Evil Manta bwahahaha) in the TV series. If they rewrite how Ariel and Flounder met I am going to be rightfully upset. Disney can pull of a lot of things, but incontinuity is not one of them. Also, what's with the evil nanny? Call me sexist if you want, but I think a male villain wouldreally spice this up. Ursula, she was fine, whats-her-face-Morgana was stretching it, but evil nanny?! There is NO WAY any little boy is going to watch this movie now. They could have at least had a cool battle scene if it was a male villain. I wish this was written to be more all incompassing instead of targeting ONLY the ariel-hannahmontana-HSM market. And why does Ariel's mom look just like her?! Ariel has two sisters with blonde hair, two sisters with brown hair, two sisters with black hair, and she is the lone ranger of the family with her red hair which we know she got from her Dad (that is also in the TV series.) So why doesn't her mom have raven black hair or fair as sunshine blonde? It makes no sense. >.< Apparently Disney underestimates children's abilities to understand genetics.

Okayyyy that being said, I am excited and think it looks fun! It reminds me of the Barbie Fairytopia movies only Arielized (and does it get much better than that? I don't think so.) so we'll have to seeee!

More importantly than my silly art news that changes about every three weeks is Easter, which is coming up this weekend. Do you all know what Easter means? I mean, what it's REALLY all about? That's not an easy question to answer and it's one that has such a great answer I'm not sure I even know how to say it. Easter is about hope. And it's about life. and it's about lots and lots and LOTS of love. And it's about how God is the greatest, most wonderful, most caring, most selfless, most just, and most awesome Father and Creator there could ever be in all existance.
