The tapes are described as having come from Sweden as an excuse for higher rental fees and longer wait times. Jerry fabricated the word "sweded" while arguing with a customer.

In light of the theme of sweding, director Michel Gondry sweded a version of the trailer of the film, starring himself. On the official website, users can engage in sweding, which puts their faces on the VHS cover of a movie.[5] The Be Kind Rewind YouTube minisite also encourages filmmakers to create sweded versions of popular movies.[6]

The concept of the original website designed by Tequila reinforces an interest in online copying. Asking users to swede their favorite websites, making alternate versions of Google's website. This website originally hosted at BeKindMovie.com has been taken off.

The theme of sweding also relates to film history, in that the collectively-made remakes represent our social memories of film, and through film."

I'm already stressing about searching for a career and already worried about what my studies should focus on... Should I be a generalist for game development (from the arts including music and sound and stories and programming and being a leader) or a brain or a keener in simply one department??? What do people look for in someone to hire for making video games???! ARGH!! I can do almost all required for a game(as far as I know - and perhaps not well but well enough I guess to my standards and as far as my knowledge extends...) but is 'well enough' good enough? I feel like I am missing out on something here - like pieces are missing for searching for a career... I just don't understand what to do - and I only have one year to go!!! BLARGHZ!

Now, is it cool? No. It's pointless. What good is he doing here? None. He could be getting some decent work done like trying to fix parts of the economy perhaps? Trying to get USA back into friends status with Canada is technically not priority right now if you ask me.
