Sorry about the absence there. It was the end of the school year (still going for some) and we were all caught up with scholarly things, so we kinda missed out on an April contest. Sorry about that =( We’re hoping to make it up to you by trying something new! Word on the street is… you like video games!

At the risk of alienating console fanboys (and girls) and non FPS gamers, we were hoping to organize… an ExC Halo 3 Multiplayer Extravaganza! Yes folks, school will be out soon, and we all need a way to relax! So if you like games, and you like expansion, join up with us for some community fun!

As of yet, we do not have a date or time nailed down for when we want to hold the event. Please check out our poll here to vote for when you would be able to participate. We’re hoping to make this available for as many of you as possible, all around the globe, so let’s all work together to find the best time!

We also need to know which of the Halo 3 Map Packs you have, in order to organize what we’ll eventually play. You can let us know through either a vote through this poll . Hopefully we can come up with a nice set of games to play. Also, if you have any custom gametypes or maps you would like to suggest, send us a note!

Rules:

The idea is simple. Get a bunch of expansion fetishists in a room together… and we all shoot each other!

The requirements to participate would be:

A) an Xbox 360

B) Halo 3

C) an Xbox Live gold account

-- If you’d like to participate, you need to note the Expansion Chat Club page (AKA: this page) with your Xbox Live Gamertag to confirm that you would like to join up.

-- If you already have a slot and can’t participate, please tell us! That way we can let someone else join in.

And that’s it! Our intent here is to bring the community together through yet another medium. And to have fun!

:shamrock: The Saint Patrick’s Day “Go Green” Challenge :shamrock:

This month, the Expansion Chat is putting on a new expansion drawing contest in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the greenest holiday of the year! However, there is a little twist to this contest. Not only must each entry relate to St. Patty’s Day, but each entry must also have at least one character dressed in all green attire! You may use as many shades of green as you’d like as long as one character is dressed in all-green clothes (including accessories such as rings, earrings, bracelets, watches, etc)! Here are some other guidelines to follow:

1. You may have no more than three characters. You may use your own original characters or create fan art of other characters, such as the ExC mascot Laurie. If you decide to use another person’s character(s), be sure to ask permission first and credit them in your entry.

2. At least one character must be expanded. However, although it is an expansion contest, there is one form of expansion not allowed for this contest: No vore

3. Any content that violates dA’s rules is strictly prohibited.

4. Each entry must be a new work.

5. Only one entry per person.

6. Please note the Chat’s dA Page with a link to your submission.

The February Expansion Writing Contest!

This Valentine’s inspired writing contest will have you writing… expansion poetry!

Yes, you heard us right, folks. Poetry! All you have to do is write a poem involving expansion. It could be to someone, about someone, describing expansion, whatever you like! Just so long as you follow our lovely rules, of course.

1) The poem must have a rhyme scheme. You can pick whatever meter or style of poetry you like, just so long as it rhymes.
2) There is a 200 word limit. We aren’t looking for lengthy sagas of inflation adventures, just a nice, relatively short poem.
3) No content is forbidden this time around, so long as it stays within the rules DA itself has stated.
4) It must be a completely new piece.
5) Only one entry per person.
6) Note the chat with a link to your submission.

Other than that, you guys are free to do as you please! We’re looking forward to see what you can cook up! Now on to…

The February Expansion Drawing Contest!

The Valentine’s inspiration for this contest will take the form of… couples!

By the word couples, we don’t necessarily mean 2 characters that are romantically linked, but just 2 characters period. They can be original characters, fanart, or whatever else you can think of, so long as there’s 2 characters in the picture! Now for those fun rules.

1) The drawing must have 2 characters in it. Either one or both could be expanding, if you please. Just make sure there are 2!
2) No content that violates DA’s rules.
3) It must be a completely new piece.
4) Only one entry per person.
5) Note the chat with a link to your submission.

Aside from those rules there, you have free reign. Now go out there and draw!

The Expansion Chat sketching contest!

This varies a bit from the regular drawing contests in a few ways, which we’ll cover in the rules. The subject for this contest is kind of an interesting topic, so we hope you’re up to it!

You, our wonderful artists out there, have a mission. Your mission is to find an obscure character, not normally drawn in expansion art, and draw them expanded! Yes folks, we’re putting our own little twist on Internet Rule 34.

”If it exists, there is expansion art of it”

Your mission is clear, artists, make us proud!

Rules:
1) The entry must be a sketch, either in pencil or digital. No inking or coloring.
2) One entry per person.
3) The sketch must follow DA’s rules and our own.
4) Note the chat with your submission.

And that’s it! Since this is only a sketch contest, the length of the contest is shorter. You will have from now until next Sunday, January 18th, to complete your drawing and note us!

The prize for this contest will be a sketch as well, drawn by ~plasma-snake. Since it’s such a quick contest, we won’t be offering the Mod’s Choice prize, sorry folks. So if you’re interested, then get to sketching!

It’s the holiday season, folks, and time for another contest! This month, we will be hosting another expansion art contest. This time is very similar to the previous contest, all that we ask is that you draw a Holiday themed expansion picture! You can use any character that you want to, original characters or fanart. And as always, the chat mascots Laurie and Marduk are available for expansion if you so desire.

The contest will start immediately and be open until Tuesday December 23rd at 11:59 p.m. US Central time. The voting period will then last until Saturday December 27th at 11:59 p.m.


Prizes

The winner will be decided by a journal poll this time around, with the prize pic being drawn by ~judasrockinpriest! The same rules apply as the last time: single character, with a simple background.

But we have a new twist this time around.

As well as a winner being chosen through a poll, there will be another winner chosen by the Expansion Chat mods. This winner will receive a black and white inked picture by ~plasma-snake of a single character of the winner’s choosing.


Rules

Here are the contest rules that you must follow (especially the 1st!):

1) All entrants must note the club prior to submitting their entry
2) One entry per contestant
3) No content that violates DA's content rules
