Jon Culshaw's 10th Doctor voice is still pretty poor nowadays but his 4th Doctor is still outstanding! Love Phil Cornwell's insight into the 9th's as well!

[link] -This is very speedily edited but is still a very clever idea displaying the recurring patterns in Doctor Who.

[link] -I love The Hellish Gnome's The Doctor is... series!
I have a very long animation playlist on YouTube but I'll do my best to break it down to the good stuff that I would like to share with other cartoon freaks!

[link] -TonyWDA's videos are always cleverly put together but this one is my favourite. A re-edit of the climax to Aladdin. At first it feels like you're just watching the film that you've always seen for years and then the cameos from a whole cast of animated characters start popping up, making the finale even more exciting and then heartwarming than the original cut! Look out for his Lion King and Hunchback ones as well!

[link] -Again from TonyWDA. Shere Khan really needs to look behind himself...

[link] -My personal favourite of GanXingba's Avatar Abridged Series. "I hate my life!!!" (He Really Does)

[link] -The only clip I could find of the Back to Neverland film that used to run at Disney's MGM Studios featuring Robin Williams and the late Walter Cronkite.

[link] -You'll need to turn up your speakers for this one as the sound's a little low but it's worth it as Batman finds himself in a "The Graduate" situation with DA Corchrin.

[link] -Batman would just like to stress that they haven't ONE moment to lose!

[link] -A beautiful edited music video that covers the true art of the animated Batman franchise. Good song too.

[link] -A very well put together music video featuring Beetlejuice and "A Friend Like Me".

[link] -TheITinFIT also has a lot of editing fun at Disney's expense. Love Basil repeatedly prank-calling Ratigan!

[link] -One of my favourite sketches from Drew Carey's Green Screen Show with the cast performing a sword-and-sorcery type show featuring Mermabeasts and Jeff riding a giant bunny.

[link] -The world of anime is here to show you the troubles that come with playing Dungeons and Dragons.

[link] -Jinnai from El Hazard is what Draco Malfoy would be in danger of becoming if he truly let Harry get to him. Great use of The Beatles' "Help".

[link] -A compliation of this really interesting tic of Crocker's from the Fairly Odd Parents.

[link] -A nicely edited video using panels from the graphic novels Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee, all to the song "Pet" by A Perfect Circle.

[link] -There are a LOT of Ultimate Destiny video's using clips from Kingdom Hearts but this one's my favourite.

[link] -The pilot to 's cartoon Moobeard the Cow Pirate.

[link] -A very classy showreel from Spanish animator, Mario Serrano Hervas.

[link] -Jennifer Hager's CalArts showreel makes me weep with joy. Now THIS is how you do 2d! The girl and the griffin deserves to be a film and I want to see more of the elderly dog running in his dreams!

[link] -Doc Browns' cameo in The Simpsons Ride.

<a href="http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.youtube.com/wa...

I'm such a YouTube addict and I'm in the mood for sharing!
I'll cover my other playlists later but for now here's a selection of all things melody related from my Musicals Playlist. Feel free to just look at the ones that peak your interest as there are rather a lot here:

[link] -Now this is quite sweet, funny and clever. Using "There's a Fine, Fine Line" from Avenue Q, Tony Outterside has created a video using a series of random still images matched up to the song lyrics. I almost choked upon what he used for the word "but"!

[link] -Alan Cumming and Joel Grey perform "Willkommen" from Cabaret. It's like a dream come true!

[link] -From the end of season one of Eli Stone. Eli awakens from his coma with the aid of his "spirit guide", family, friends and the song "Feeling Good". It's a huge shame that the musically inclined show, Eli Stone, was cancelled after only two seasons. It was real quality television!

[link] -The first part of the Finding Nemo musical at Epcot. This is the cast that I saw! Yay! Honestly, you'll be singing "In The Big, Blue World" all day after you hear it!

[link] -There are many awesome songs in A Very Potter Musical but in case there are any Harry Potter fans out there who still haven't seen this, then the first part containing the first half of "Back To Hogwarts" is a good place to immediately get just how hilarious and catchy this show is! My personal favourites are this song, "Harry", "Granger Danger" and "Not Alone". There are too many brilliant gags to write down here though!

[link] -Bri-chan's friend Sam, aka Psycho Hatter, performs "Go The Distance" from Hercules. "I want you so bad!!!"

[link] -Aracind performed the title role for his college's production of Jekyll and Hyde. Here's his rendition of "First Transformation" and wow, just wow. I love this guy's voice! He was only 18 at the time!

[link] -I can't get enough of this song! "I Want More" from Lestat performed by Allison Fischer, a girl who deserves to go far on Broadway!

[link] -"The Cat and the Moon" (or at least half of it) from The Lord of the Rings musical. Boy, I'm gettng exhausted just watching this dance piece!

[link] -draub2 presents The Muppet Show theme tune.....over clips of Sweeney Todd. And it strangely works...

[link] -The Korean cast of Sweeney Todd have gone for a far more symbolic representation of the play's ending. Talk about dementedly creepy! Granted this is Sweeney Todd we're talking about but still....damn!

[link] -"Somebody To Love" from the musical We Will Rock You. Hannah Jane Fox FTW!

[link] -WonderRobbie's "rendition" of "Popular" from Wicked. Just....brilliant. He does a pretty good Poor Unfortunate Souls as well and has quite the range of interesting t-shirts!

Enjoy!

Ahhhhh!!!! It wasn't that long ago that I had no internet at all due to thieves stealing the phone lines in my area, now I've just spent a couple of weeks without the use of the computer at all as the screen went completely blank right in the middle of a Photoshop/After Effects project!!
I am SO glad that I had casually saved the project five minutes ago so nothing was lost. There was no need to throw my head back and scream, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

The actual computer was okay, quietly humming to itself, it was just the monitor that could no longer show any images. My brother tried using all his computer powers and sent e-mails to Dell to fix it but nothing happened. (In case you're wondering, no, I couldn't use my brothers computer to continue my work as he doesn't have Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Premiere or indeed, a scanner! It's just for games and stuff)

But now I'm back with a brand new widescreen monitor which gives certain things a bit of a stretched look but I expect I'll get used to it.

Anyway, apart from computer trouble, my family went to London to see "Oliver!" recently.
Now Oliver isn't my favourite musical as there is no real song that makes me cry out, "Wow!!", although there are some throughly catchy ones. "Be Back Soon" springs to mind. (I unfortunately have bad memories of my music class in senior school being made to repeatedly sing Oom-Pah-Pah as a rhythm exercise which has forever left me with an uneasy feeling whenever I hear that song. There are some musical songs that you can hear too many times to ever like them again)But my Mum and Dad were avid watchers of that Nancy/Oliver talent program and so were eager to see the finished show. I had seen just enough of that program to get a good feeling about Jodie Prenger and I don't pass up an opportunity to go to the theatre so I said, "Why not?"

We just managed to get tickets on Rowan Atkinson's last night as Fagin. Actually, I was a little doubtful that he could pull off any of the songs but I did squee a bit at his first appearence. Dodger and Oliver arrive at the hideout.
Dodger: "Fagin! Fagin!!!" (He emerges from behind a curtain and says in a very Blackadder style of voice:
Fagin: "What?" (Audience cheer)

I guess I've gotten so used to hearing Jonathan Price's voice from the CD (despite seeing Russ Abbot when I first saw the show live) that I forgot that all Fagin's singing parts can easily be spoke-sung which is what Rowan did so none of it was cringe-worthy. The rest of the cast were brilliant as well with Jodie Prenger being partically enthusiastic in her role as Nancy throughout her singing and speaking parts.
All-in-all, a most entertaining evening and the ending is still pretty powerful stuff with Fagin walking off alone into the London fog.
Ps, Julian Bleach aka. Davros from Doctor Who and the Ghostmaker from Torchwood played Mister Sowerberry. Squee!!

It's called "Ride To Agadir" by Mike Batt who is best known for writing songs for The Wombles, the tv show The Dreamstone and the number "Bright Eyes" for the film, Watership Down.

The song basically details a group of Moroccans attempting to free the town of Agadir from the occupation of a platoon of French soldiers.

I severely doubt that I'll be putting the whole thing up on Youtube when I'm finished, as a distinct lack of discovery of research on what exactly the song is referring to means that some things required "artistic licience." I just have a vision of being swamped by comments from offended Moroccans/French yelling that the places or people didn't look like that!
I do aim to have a couple of clips turning up in my showreel though so there is a point to my telling everyone this -Something will be on display for your viewing pleasure!

At the moment, I've just finished all the backgrounds and so I'll(hopefully) be starting animation next week barring interuptions. It will be nice to get back into a bit of animation again and there are a few shots that I'm actually looking forward to drawing out.
Certainly I aim to getting the whole thing done by the end of the year then I can continue with a couple more musical storyboard projects. Woo!

The 11th Doctor!!!

After months of speculation, bookies taking bets and frankly, some very daft suggestions being made, Doc11 finally has a face. Namely this one: [link]

My first impression was, "Wow! YOUNG!!" (He's freaking 26, man!) then I just sat and drank in every word he said, while imprinting his features into my brain because one thing's for sure, I'll definitely be sketching expression sheets for him in 2010! -Hmm, nice, hard jawline and I like a good crop of hair on a man!

It seems that Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffat were equally fascinated by his hair as well! Steven was rather thinking of someone in their late-thirties/early-fourties but when Matt walked in and read for the part, he found him hard to forget.
With all the expectation that Steven's series will be "seriously dark and scary", I further imagine that the thinking behind casting such a young actor was so as to have thrilling scenes of a "boy" barely escaping the monsters. Add to that, it furthers the cosmic joke of how the older the Doctor gets, the younger he looks!

I was rather expecting them to go for an "unknown." (Although I have seen him in The Ruby In The Smoke and now wished I had paid more attention!) It's just easier that way for the audience to watch the show without any preconceptions as to what he'll be like. Now there's just the exciting questions of what will his personality be like, (I have a feeling that he'll be a quieter Doctor than 10 at least) what will he wear, who will be his companion, what adventures will he have and, most importantly of all, how does DocTen die and DocEleven live?

I know I'll cry when the regeneration comes but I can't help looking forward to the future adventures with great excitement!

Sarah Jane Smith: "...You need a Smith onboard!" -School Reunion, Series Two. (How's that for unexpected foreshadowing?!)

Well, it seems I've been offline for 1w 1d 15h 38m 41s and there's a very good reason for that.

I had just accessed the internet at about 1.00pm last week when the screen was filled with a message saying that the BT Hub had been disconnected. After poking around with various cables to see if anything had fallen out, I then checked the hallway phone itself only to find that there was no dialling tone.

My dad spent the evening talking to operators on his mobile trying to find out what the problem was.
It was a few days later until it was reported on South Today that thieves had in fact stolen a good deal of cables and wiring, leaving almost the entire district without a phone line -no phone line meant no internet access so I haven't been able to surf anywhere let alone come on here!

But finally this afternoon the dialling tone came back so now I'm posting up links to seperate versions of my recent 10 Doctors sketch for those who just want to print off their favourites (something I was going to do on the day we were cut off!)
1st Doctor: [link]
2nd Doctor: [link]
3rd Doctor: [link]
4th Doctor: [link]
5th Doctor: [link]
6th Doctor: [link]
7th Doctor: [link]
8th Doctor: [link]
9th Doctor: [link]
10th Doctor: [link]

Well, Radio 4's Dirk Gently website has finally been updated for series two with a new trailer, cast list and production notes and photos!

The trailer is well worth a listen, even if it will only really make sense if you have read the book, and the cast list made me squee a bit as I recognised quite a few names in there. Just have a look at who is playing Simon Draycott... (I'll resist making a pun here)

I recommend reading the character list too, particuly the section under Richard Macduff as it provides strong hints as to where the third, Salmon Of Doubt-inspired, series will lead.
Dirk Maggs admits in the production notes that they've had to add a few things in preparation for the third series but it's all based on Douglas Adams' original notes.

Tea-time will start on the 2nd October at 11.00pm (?!) I suppose that's what the Listen Again feature is for in case I fall asleep!

Anyway, DNA fans have a look yourself, if you haven't already, right here: [link]

After listening to that trailer, I must say, I'm looking forward to drawing Thor...

My price list is all in British Pounds so remember this if you are outside the UK.
*Payment must be recieved before the art will be started. Once I recieve the deposit I will send a note confirming that I will start work right away and an estimate as to how long it will take but I usually don't take any longer than 4 weeks to complete anything that is massively complicated!
*Once the piece is completed I will then e-mail it to you so it can be freely printed off in whatever size and on whatever quality paper that you choose.

Materials used: Blue sketching pencil, graphite pencils, watercolour pencils, colouring pencils, cartridge/biro pen.

Portrait Shots: Original characters or fanart characters as seen from the waist up. You can have them simply perched there, smiling like the Mona Lisa or, you know, actually doing something!
The pricing will be the same for either a coloured or non-coloured piece. For the non-coloured though, please specify whether you want it to remain in graphite pencil form or whether you would like it 'inked' in as well.
For backgrounds, a simple background classifies a plain colour or pattern -something that just means that the character won't be surrounded by a blinding whiteness.
A proper background would be an actual location like a forest or a kitchen.
Pricing: 1 character (portrait shot) +simple bg: 5.00
+1 additional character: 5.00
1 character (portrait shot) + detailed bg: 10.00
+1 additional character: 5.00

Full Body Shots: The character in full- head to toe.
Pricing: 1 character (full body) + simple bg: 10.00
+1 additional character: 10.00
1 character (full body) + detailed bg: 15.00
+1 additional character: 10.00

So, to commission me, first send me a note on Deviantart containing:
1.
To start with, today was my 24th birthday.

"Happy birthday me and I hope the rest of the year gives me the employment I'm craving!"

"Why thank you Jo! I appreciate the sentiment!"

"Don't mention it Jo!"

I had a bit of a Doctor Who day with my parents giving me 'The Beginning' box set and my brother giving me the 'Beneath the Surface' set. We then went to the Doctor Who Exhibition at Earls Court in London!
It was amazingly well done with twisting corridors lined with costumes, props and sound bites from the series blasting around you.
We all got to lean in close and examine the detail on things like Queen Victoria's dress, an Ood mask and The Face of Boe.
There was a blue screen section which made it look like my brother and I had wondered into the TARDIS control room. Of course, our blue jeans meant that part of our legs disappeared on the screen!
The Cybermen aren't as tall as you might think while the Sontarans ARE as tall as you might think!
Donna's wedding dress is very pretty under the lights and the Empress of Racnoss is HUGE!
All in all there was a lot more on display than I thought there would be so I had a really great day.

I won't have time to go through my new DVD's yet though as on the 9th August I will be on a plane to Florida for three weeks. It's been a while since the family have been on holiday and with the current grey weather in England, a "get me out of here!" feeling is beginning to grow as I type this.
I'll be busy packing, tidying the house, purchasing last-minute essentials for the remainder of this week so any enquiries people make during this time will have to wait for an answer after the 31st August as I will not be able to hear you from where I'll be standing!

I'll be continuing my mini sketchbook over there so expect some Disney themed drawings when I return. God knows, I'll need to draw during those two looooooong flights!

Be seeing you!

A bit of a late review as I saw the film a week ago but here goes.

Quite simply it was funny, heart-warming, exciting (even though I knew that they would be all right, my heart really started beating during the Who's 'We are here!!' sequence) and the animation was just sooooo good!
There's no denying that the story is a simple one so it did feel rather short and a bit slight in places but the morals are strong enough (have faith in what you believe in, One voice can make a difference and, of course, a person's a person no matter how small) that ensure that the film will be remembered and deserves to have a long life on DVD.
I would like to know though, that if there is going to be an audio commentary on the DVD, could be the director/producer/writer explain why did they choose REO Speedwagon's 80's power balled, 'Can't Fight This Feeling' to end the film? This did make me leave the theater in a good mood and I do randomly find myself singing this part during the day but I'm still feeling rather conflicted as to whether this was a good choice or not.
I understand that having the characters sing a song at the end unites the two worlds together and further enforces that they aren't so different from each other (Both Whoville and the Noolians know the words) but being as the lyrics to the actual song are about a guy who can't hide his feelings from this girl any more -even if he makes a fool of himself he has to tell her how he feels- you can't help going "Eh!?" when it comes to applying it to this film!
Favourite moments to think over:
Breakfast at the Mayor's house.
The Chairman pointing at a picture of a donkey's backside and then at the Mayor! (I bet some kids were asking their parents what that meant!)
Horton convincing the Mayor that what he says is true by making night fall instantly several times and the Mayor's reaction to it.
The anime sequence which looks like the animators suffered a blow to the head before they attempted it.
The Bridge/Dentist's office.
Ned and Sally's bedroom conversation.
Vlad choking on a clover.
Horton fixing the snow problem in Whoville.
The field of clovers -bravo for the crew remaining true to the book in a really epic way!
"This is the Chairman..."
"IDIOT!! You'll never work in this town again!! You're finished you here me?! Finished!! You BOOOOOB!!" I bet the Mayor got a lot of pleasure out of that as well!
The entire climax -I knew when I read about Horton being roped and caged while the Who's chant 'We are here!' that it would make for good drama moment in the film and the director/writers/animators did not disappoint in the slightest. It really brings a lump to the throat!
And, at last, the credits with what sounds like ad-libbing from the voice cast ("Man, that felt good! Threaputic!") Again, why THAT song but it's still rather catchy.
Oh, and Katie. I don't need to say any more on that.

YouTube have just recently purged all illegally flimed clips from their site as they have to eventually but there are still a few music videos around. I am in love with this one which fully captures my love for the Mayor and his wonderfully expressive face: [link]

Seeing as the second radio series of Dirk Gently isn't starting until the 26th June 2008 (Bloody hell! It seems that AboveTheTitle need a LOT of time for casting, recording and editing for this one!) this leaves me with a lot of time to make a start on a project that I was going to do a while ago but didn't due to being distracted by DG.

I've been listening to my 8th Doctor audios and making a note of what to draw from each one, based on the thought 'What do I immediately think of when I pick one of the CD's up?' For example it can be something obvious like: 'The Creed of the Kromon' -The one where the Doctor and Charley meet C'rizz, or it could be something only vaguely connected to the plot: 'Memory Lane' -The one where the travellers are eating ice creams, leadng to a Attila the Bun joke!

I'll just be using my 'real world' colouring materials for this one (with perhaps a bit of Photoshop tweaking) as there are so many of the plays that colouring them all in with the computer will take way too long -my pens and water colours are faster and better for my circulation than a mouse!

Hope this will please a few Doctor fans!

In related news, check this out. One of the best Doctor Who Comic's around. It's really hilarious but with an excellent plot too! You WILL be checking regularly for new pages!: [link]

The 3rd of October, 6:30pm on Radio 4 will see (sort of) the first official radio production of Douglas Adams book Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Ahem......WOOOOOO-HOOOOOO! I love Hitchhiker's but it is about time that Dirk got some proper recognition at last!

AbovetheTitle Productions have a Dirk Gently section up now on their website, containing photos and an audio and video trailer: [link]

As is usual with audio trailers it will only really make sense if you have read the book (the actors themselves admit to the plot being complicated) but it produced a large smile on my face as I recognised certain scenes, only with the added coolness of a music sountrack, sound effects and voices that are now outside of my head! I'm definitely looking forward to this one!

In other news, the new teaser poster for Sweeney Todd contains the tagline 'Sweeney Todd is coming this Christmas': [link]ath_key=0408236
Now, I did this drawing back in May: [link]

Spooky, eh? I must have gotten brief psychic interference from a satellite or something....!

I have finally completed a character orientated showreel for my work.
I've made my choice -I want to work around character design or at least have fun producing illustrations for other peoples characters as a career.

No doubt I'll probably still tweak it in the next few days if I produce any more drawings of worth but for now here is a version that acts as a great big advertisement for this site!: [link]

Annoyingly the resolution has gone down a bit in putting it on YouTube (the quicktime video is DVD quality but this is a little fuzzy) but you can still recognise the drawings. Enjoy!

Ps. Oh, the music is from Donnie Darko in case you were wondering.

Sitting comfortably alongside Uni work, I've set aside a sketchbook to be filled with random drawings throughout the year. The pages have been divided up so I should create six drawings per month (except for August which has eight pages) This will determine that my deviant page will not look incredibly bare for several months with people calling "Hello? Are you still alive?"
