We spent a few hectic days there, driving around, making photo stops. I have lots and lots of pictures that will be posted here. I don't want to post too many at the time, though, so I'm doing it in batches. Some have already been posted (the eagle shots are some of them). I have one eagle-shot which, for me, made the trip worth it's money.

So far the new year's treated me well. I hope it keeps up the same way. I'm getting my macrolens in the mail towmorrow (monday)! Finally! I'm so excited about it. I haven't been taking a lot of shots lately, as I'm quite busy with school. I do take quite a few pictures for school, but not anything that I'd put on here.

I finally got through my message center today. It does build up through the week, even though I don't watch that many people. I feel a bit guilty about not going through it more often. I really should. And I'll try.

Unfortunatly, I'm a little sick right now. It started on Christmas Day, and I went to the doctor today, because I was feeling really bad. He gave me antibiotics, which I have to take for a week. It sucks a bit, because this means I can't drink to much on new years eve. I can have a few beers, but nothing more. But it's ok, really. A lot of people are in a lot worse situations, so I'm taking this with a smile. Though I could do without the pain in my throat, which gets really intense sometimes.

Winter has come to Svanvik 3 days ago. Lots and lots of snow. This certainly called for some winter shots, so Magnus, Annlaug and I went down to the river yesterday and got some nice shots with the ice and snow. And we had a great time as well.

Today, I finally got around to some personal shooting. Half of the school went down to an old farm, which is now a museum, to learn about the old traditions around here. As I was there last year, Linn Therese and I just wandered around, taking pictures of a bunch of stuff. I'll try to get them up soon.. At least some of them.

Wow, it's been so busy the last couple of weeks since I got here. Students started arriving last Wednesday, and since then it's just been work, work, work. It's a bunch of fun, though I've been really tired lately.

It's not really goodbye. Just a short break. I'm going up north to attend school tomorrow(sort of.. assisting teacher-ish thingy). School doesn't start for me until 16th of August, but I'm going a little early to be with my family (I just got a new cousin!! :boogie: ), and even though my grandma does have an internet connection, it's slow, and I won't be on much. I'll try to check my messages and stuff. Obviously I'll be less on through the year, as I won't have internetaccess all the time. I'm hoping the take a lot of pictures, though, and I've got my laptop to fix them on, and I'll upload as much as I can.

I will of course be checking my messages, commenting and such as much as I can, but I just won't be as active as I have been lately.

I'm really excited about going up north. I attended school there as a student last year, but it will be so different this year!

So I'm still home alone. It's getting on my nerves, really. Today I haven't seen one person. Not one. Same as Wednesday and Thursday last week. I mean, the first week was great, but now I'm just really aching to have someone get up early in the morning to take the dog out, feed him etc, and be awake when I'm awake, and home when I go to bed. Watching horror-movies before bed is not good.

At least I kept busy on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Kathrine and I dropped Linn Therese off at the airport outside Ålesund, and went shopping. Window-shopping mostly. Then on Tuesday we went back and did the actual shopping! Hooray! I spent quite a bit, 2 new pair of shoes, 4 DVDs, some school stuff and some other gadgets.. I love gadgets.. I also took some shots of Kathrine on the ferry, with the wind blowing in her hair. Just for laughs. So here are the two photos I ended up putting on here

Not much going on. I'm home alone and having a small party this weekend. One of my friends from school is coming to visit (she doesn't live near me at all..), so I'm really excited about that :D She's also a hobby photographer (she was on the media-course at my school), so she's bringing her camera. Yay :)

I decided to make my journal look more.. interesting, I suppose. Just made some headers.. I think I'll change them soon enough, but for now they're ok.

I got my new Lowepro CompuTrekker AW today! My mum decided that since I travel a lot, my dad should buy one for me, so I can carry my laptop and my camera in the very same bag! I love it!! It's really useful as well! It arrived in the post today, which fits perfectly in with my plans for the evening.

My friends and I have been trying to arrange a small picnic all week, but the weather has always been against us. Today, the weather's ok enough for us! It started off as just a plan for me to go out with Kathrine to get some photos in different places, but we decided to make a picnic off it! I'm really looking forward to it, especially Kathrine's moms ricesalad! I'm brining home-made chocolatecake! Mmm.

I still have some pictures on my 'puter from the last shoot I had, and hopefully I'll get them on here by the end of the weekend. Not promising anything, though, because my dad finally decided that we're going to start painting the house.. Blah!

Yahoo! Friday was my last day of work for this summer! We celebrated with pizza and cake. Actually.. it's always pizza for lunch on Fridays, and the cake wasn't for me. It's always served cake at the infoquarters, which happened to be this Friday. So yea. But it was a nice end to 5 weeks of work anyway. Now I've got about 5 weeks left until I go north again, to work at the school I attended last year. I'm really looking forward to it, because it will something very new for me. And it will be very different from being a student, even though I'll be part student, part teacher-assistant.

My dad came back from Poland last night. It was really nice to see him again, even though he's already getting on my nerves about certain things. But that's just how it goes, I suppose. Mum's leaving for Montenegro Tuesday morning. She'll be gone 4 weeks. And my dad leaves for Poland again in about two weeks time.. So that's two weeks to myself..

Well.. What can I say. I know I've been kind of quiet on the submission side lately, but I've just been so tired. I started work three weeks ago, which is fine. I mean, it's just a job. I work at Ulstein Verft, the shipyard responsible for the "revolutionary" x-bow (read up on it here and here. And well, it's quite big in Norway anyway). It's a lot of physical work, which leaves me a bit tired in the afternoons, so I do nothing else than sit on dA and browse..

Then, a week and some days ago, Friday 16th of June, my great grandmother died, on her 90th birthday. It was a real loss, especially to my mum, and of course my grandma.. And myself as well. I miss her. We live so far away from the rest of my family, and it was hard not to be able to be there with her the last days of her life. But we travelled north for her funeral, and it was a beautiful funeral..

I only have two weeks left of work until my holiday, and I plan to go out with my camera as much as I can this holiday. Until then, unless I get gripped by a sudden burst of inspiration, I will be lurking around here.

A lot of people on deviantart have the desire to grow and learn their trade. They wish to have critiques on their work and also to give critiques, because in the act of analysing a piece of work and giving advice we also learn how to improve.

DeviantArt is a community, an art community that is one of giving critiques and comments on work by other artists.

It does not make sense to me that we don't have the feature that allows us to find those pieces of work that people want help on, advice on and to learn from. I think a new browse feature allowing us to find those deviations that desire and state 'advanced critique welcome' would be another corner stone in the growth of deviantart. It would allow those who wish to grow to be found and for those who wish to help the community in return for the help offered to us in the years go by to find each other.

Deviants also have the right to explain the type of critique they want. It allows others to see where the deviant in question wants help and how to help them. Meaning that the help offered and advice given is one that has been sought after. We all know that if advice is given and we have not requested or asked for it, we ignore that advice.

So I need help from the community to speak loud enough and ask enough so that staff will see this thread and realise that this will help the community tremendously. Please wave, jump, link to, shout about this thread. Post it in your journals, talk to people about it.

Also it would be of a tremendous help for you to link to any critique groups you know of. I hope to do a proper news article out of this and journal blurb that people can copy and paste into their own journals.

How's everyone?

I've had very little to do the last few days. I'm not starting work until June 1st, the weather has been horrible, so I've not been able to go outside to play around with my camera. I've been playing around a bit inside, but my creativity has been gone the last days :hmm:

I was "babysitting" (not babies, school-aged children, long story behind it) the other day, and we had a bit of fun with the camera, they got to give it a go (they loved it!) and they sat still long enough for me to take a few shots of them. I'm not sure I want to post them, though, because I wasn't super happy about the outcome. Maybe I'll just post them to see what other people thing, and move them to scraps or delete them later.

I've purchased a one-month subscription, just to check it out, and I think I'm already addicted, and will have to continue with it. And because I have nothing else to do, and because I want to test a few things out, I'll show off three pieces from my favourites.



Yup, that's it from me today. Hoping for inspiration or better weather!!
