Its been awhile since I listed a new doll, I was busy preparing for the Peterborough Discover Dolls Show last weekend.
I had a lovely time there and met some really nice people and very talented artists.
Clare ( Fairytasia) and I had a super cool time. Clare was amazing thru out the whole weekend. I knew she was in quite alot of pain at times but she never let it show or complained.I certainly would not have minded if she did cos I don't think I could have coped like she did if I was ill. So I was just so proud of her and of course I got to see her wonderful work.

For the next few weeks I shall be listing my exhibition dolls from the show on ebay.

I loved sculpting this bust of Steve Tyler.
I played Aerosmith constantly while creating this - so its a good job I am an Aerosmith fan

I had BUTTERFLIES watching her open it !
I was sooo scared incase she didn't like it.
Luckily she was pleased with it !

I don't know how he will fit in her faeries at home
He has an eye for the laydeeeeee's I hear....

2 things you need to know about Nibbles...
1. She BITES
2. Never feed her after midnight !! ( otherwise you might end up like Teddy )

If you look can see an eye on the clock base.
"Keep an eye on the time"
You'll need to with Nibbles around !

I really miss that...
Haven't been sculpting that much lately ( miss THAT even more ) and have now become too critical of what I do. I guess its good to be critical but cos I've not shown a piece for a long time I feel way too nervous now. Does that sound silly ?

BOY It feels like FOREVER since I created ANYTHING ....
For awhile I think I lost my mojo and simply could not get started on anything which was really annoying.
I have been wanting so much to return to sculpting so since its my fathers birthday and my dear ol friends birthday too approaching that was the kick in the bum I needed !

My father is a big Disney fan and has a massive collection lol
He really loves Song of the South but has no figures of it.
SO......... I decided to sculpt him Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby
Its almost done gimme a day or 2 and I will post pic.
Hopefully he will like !
Either way it has given me the buzz to sculpt again

I didn't want to create a pretty little thing - and was pleased with how she turned out cos she was how I imagined her to be. This doesn't always happen in sculpting for me - the clay normally decides .

I have wanted a puppy for a LONG time but with us having 2 cats never thought it would be possible. But things have turned out really well . Lenny & Cairo 's saftey was a MUST and if I EVER thought Harry would be a threat to them or them to him , then this would not be possible. But because Harry was only 6 weeks old ( I now think that was TOO young he should have been 8 weeks) when we got him he has taken well to the boys and they get along nicely.


I was OVER THE MOON when my husband bought me Harry ( see gallery for his pic ) You can't help but love him - ok he's hard work and yes sometimes makes me think WHY did I want a PUPPY !!!! BUT he has now more good points than bad and gets that little bit better every day. The kid is learning And I wouldn't take him back for all the tea in china ! He's MINE !!!!!

I guess I just wanted to post this incase any of you are thinking of getting a puppy.
So many people go into this without THINKING about it
Its SO sad when you think of all the little puppies, kittens , dogs & cats thats will now have been dropped off at some recuse centre for someone else to pick up the pieces.
Puppies are HARD work - demand ALOT of care and attention. And can certainly test your patience :lo: But they ARE worth the time , effort and tears ! I truly do believe that they are no bad dogs - they are what WE make them. Unless of course your dog is a natural born killer that has come from a line of vicious dogs.
Also a really good idea is buy a BOOK before a PUPPY !
If you have your heart set on a certain breed - please read about them first.
Being cute is sometimes not enough - you NEED to know the nature of the dog too.
I have had 2 Jack Russell dogs in my time so I wasn't in the dark about the breed.

Harry is now 8 weeks and is nearly toilet trained , sleeps ALL night ( he cried CONSTANLY for 4 nights when we first brought him home... ) Still chews like everything ... my hair and hand are his favourite toys... ( could have saved some money there ! ) But we love him to bits and Lenny & Cairo ( our cats ) think he ok *sometimes* too !

I thought I would TRY and create a doll by making some cold porcelian.
I have always always wanted to create a life size baby doll but thought about how much all that clay would cost me ! lol
SO - I thought that cold porcelian would be the answer as it was cheap to make.
Anyway off I went and made this batch of porcelian - it was very different and I found it alot harder to sculpt with . It was alot harder to blend seams together - still I thought I'd stick with it and not give up. I think I must have spent nearly the whole day sculpting this baby's head and although the photo in my gallery looks really crappy I WAS really happy with it. I got all excited thinking ooo what outfit shall I put on her , what colour hair etc etc....
Since cold porcelian is an air drying clay I left the head for a day to dry out and was shocked and gutted to see my baby's head all cracked ......
As you can see from photo - it is DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.
So I have no idea what I did wrong ??
Too much corn starch not enough
too much glue not enough ????

Here is the recipe I used -

3/4 cup of white glue
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup of water
1 teaspoon of cold cream*
1 teaspoon of glycerin

Mix wet ingredients until smooth over medium heat. Cook for a few minutes and add cornstarch. Stir continually until it forms a ball, remove from pan and mix thoroughly with hands. Do not refrigerate. Keep in an airtight bag.

I really want to go into making larger dolls now so might just have to start shelling out alot more for clay. If anyone has any advice or tips on cold porcelain please let me know.
