Okay, so there's a lot to update about because a lot has happened since I last made a journal.

First off, Thanksgiving was great. Got to hang out with my family a lot. I also saw "A Christmas Carol". I thought it was good.

I also got to experience the horrors of Black Friday. Not a very good thing to witness mind you.

At least computer wise, not a lot has happened despite the fact that I finished a very independent film of mine titled "I Will Grasp Love".

You can view it here: [link]

Right now I'm working on Gurren Lagann Abridged Episode 2 as well as my next film "Chamber of the Evinage".

So yeah, not a whole lot to talk about aside from the fact that I'm still alive, but I'm not as busy as much. However, I'm currently busy working on another Documentary for school, this time on Studio Ghibli.

Other than that, not much. So yeah, hope you guys like the movie and such. I hope to get back to some other stuff too.

So I'm finally back from my first ever convention. Overall it was great, it would've been fantastic had I not been a bit sick. Now I'll try my best to explain what I did there because a lot happened

Anyways, where do I start.

Well the first thing I checked out was the Disney Parks and Resorts Exhibit that showed future projects for Disney Theme Parks.

At the exhibit there was a model for the Cars Land expansion at Disney's California Adventure. Disney's opening a Hotel Resort in Hawaii apparently too. Hong Kong Disneyland is getting a Haunted Mansion type ride called "Mystic Manor".

I had just enough time to check out the "Treasures of the Disney Archives" Exhibit. This was one of highlights of my trip.

There were costumes and props galore! Michael Jackson's "Captain EO" costume, Tron's costume, Walt Disney's desk, Julie Andrews' Mary Poppins costume, the scale model of the Nautilus used for the filming of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and even the costumes and props found from the Pirates of the Carribean films were all some of the wonders found there.

Outside the exhibit was good ol' Herbie. Luckily me and my older sister got a picture with him ^___^

So the two of us headed off to the first event: The Snow White panel and screening. This was another highlight. We sat through a very cool panel discussion on the making of the film with Don Hahn (The producer for Beauty and the Beast), Eric Goldberg (The Animator for Genie in Aladdin), and get this...Snow White's Live Action Reference Model.

That was a huge surprise to the both of us. She even got a standing ovation from the crowd of fans as well as myself and my older sister.

After the panel, the film began and I started to relive old memories. It was great. Of course I couldn't stay for long since the Princess and the Frog panel was about an hour away and I wanted to get a good spot in line.

So we left early only to find that the line for the Princess and the Frog panel was twice the size as the Snow White panel was. It was insane. The panel was supposed to begin at about 3:00. We didn't get inside until 4:00. But was the wait worth it?

Definitely. This panel was the best highlight of the day and it was a fantastic closure to my first convention. After all it was a Sneak Peak. The host of the panel thanked all the fans in the theatre for being patient.

The lights went down and boom...we got to see the full musical number for Dr. Facilier "I Got Friends on the Other Side". Wow...I haven't seen a musical number for a Disney film so fresh and exciting since "Friend Like Me". Not to mention that the animation was fantastic.

Once it ended, the lights came on and the host of the panel began introducing not just the Directors, but all the major animators of the film.

Once the host announced Ron Clements and John Musker, my sister shouted "Woo!". I couldn't help but giggle because Ron had turned his head to see who had shouted it.

So the Directors talked about how they pitched the story to John Lasseter. Then the Storyboard Artist re-enacted a scene storyboarded exclusively from the movie for us. There were plenty of laughs and applause going around.

We also got to see some rough animation scenes with test voices. They were just as good looking as the Exclusive Comic-Con footage.

Then something even better happened. The animators drew the characters for us. Eric Goldberg drew Louis the Jazz Playing Aligator, Bruce Smith drew Dr. Facilier, Randy Fullmer drew Naveen in both his Human form and his Frog form, and then we had Andres Maja draw Mama Odie.

Well overall, that's how the day had gone. It was a lot of fun and If I get the chance, I'll go again next year.

NOTE: I'll post the pictures from my trip once my sister sends me the photos. We took a couple of pics that many of you might find really interesting.

Okay...so I saw "District 9" a couple of days ago and I still cannot get over how good it was.

Out of all the films that were released so far this year, "District 9", in terms of quality, is this year's Dark Knight. I flipping love this movie to death. I loved it mainly for how original it was.

I mean, I've ended up liking most of the movies that have been released this year. But this is really the only one I've ended up LOVING. But what made this movie so good was how original the story was and how much it made me care for the characters.

Not to mention, for only having a 30 million dollar budget, it was amazing how much they were able to do. The effects, the cinemetography, and the score are all fantastic. Not only that, but the actors, who are extremely unknown, put up some of the best performances I've seen in a movie in a while. Especially the actor who plays Wikus, the main character.

"District 9" pretty much is the reason why I love film and why I want to pursue a career as a Film Director. Not to mention it reminds me so much of one of my favorite films "The Fly".

Bottom line: Go see it. Now. 5/5 for me.

Yo guys, FanOingo here again, just giving a small update on things.

Anyways first update is this: I'll be going to the D23 Expo on Friday, September 11th. So for anyone going to the expo that day, feel free to look for me XD

Next up are what's going on with my projects. Currently I'm working on a full movie fandub for Studio Ghibli's "Tales from Earthsea" That's been put on hold though because my computer broke and I had lost all my files.

The biggest project I'm working on at the moment is "Gurren Lagann: The Abriged Series" Hopefully Episode 1 will premiere this September.

I'm also currently writing a screenplay for a new film I want to work on. The working title is "Dream Catcher". Here is a synopsis:

For 30 year old Emma Elric, life seems to have passed by too fast. Emma begins to dream of how her life would've been if she had lived life the way it played out in her fantasies. Unsatisfied with how her life turned out, Emma is given one last chance to go back and relive her life.

However, Emma soon starts to realize that her new life seems to be nothing more than another fantasy that she dreamed up and becomes trapped within the outer limits of reality and her dreams.

Now its a race against time as Emma struggles to overcome the bounderies of reality and fantasy before she becomes stuck within another Fairy Tale she dreamed up.

The new movie is a dark fantasy/romance film and I hope for it to start production so that it may come out this Holiday Season.

Anyways, that's all the updates I can give right now. So until then, see ya.

So I really haven't had much time to make any videos or all of that great stuff.

But I'm here to talk about a brand new project that I'm going to be working on over the Summer.

I will be working with my very close friend Ryan (AKA Dusk Golem/Blackarms) to create the first ever English Dub for the Studio Ghibli classic "Only Yesterday" directed by Isao Takahata.

It's so unfortunate that this film has yet to get an English DVD release. But Disney has not had any sort of plans to do so. So being an enourmous Ghibli fan, I thought I should do one for them.

This Summer, Ryan and I will be casting professional voice actors to fill in the roles. I will be writing the translation/script for the English adaptation as well as possibly Editing the entire thing together.

So don't miss out on details I'll be giving over the Summer.

On Valentine's Day, I had the great fortune of finally watching the Studio Ghibli epic "Grave of the Fireflies"

Here is my review of it from Flixster:

"Studio Ghibli has always been my favorite film company. I had seen most of the Ghibli library up til this film. Many had said that "Grave of the Fireflies" was sad. Being a Studio Ghibli nerd, I finally decided to give it a shot. But I was in for a huge surprise.

This was truly the saddest film I've ever watched. Rarely does a film make me experience so many emotions within the runtime of only 90 minutes.

I forgot that I was watching an animated film and that I was experiencing the same emotions the characters were.

Sadness, anger, frustration, and small bits of happiness came flying towards me as I watched.

I've never had that experience before. I could say so many good things about this movie, but I don't think that would suffice.

'Grave of the Fireflies' is a powerful, tragic, and brilliantly made film and probably the best war movie ever made."

But even then, this review cannot describe the damage this movie brought to me. I cried...no scratch that. I was balling my eyes out over this film.

Overall Rating: 5/5

I just got back from the 2:40 showing of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"

It probably might be my favorite movie of the year by far.

Mostly for one reason. I've always loved those films that have a fantasy twist on a person's autobiography.

For example I'm a fan of Forrest Gump, Big Fish, and now this film.

The movie has many strengths to it. David Fincher does an amazing job with his direction as the acting and the cinematography is amazing.

Brad Pitt does a fantastic job as Benjamin and his story is one that really moved me as I sat there. Cate Blanchett also did an amazing job as well.

The story was well written and by the time the movie was coming towards the end, I was ready to cry.

If you love movies that tell an amazing story coupled with fantastic performances by the actors, I INSIST that you check this one out. This one might get another viewing from me soon.

I got some great contributions towards the cast of the Willy Wonka parody.

The following cast so far is this. Special thanks to Movie-Man and BaraTheThornNinja as well as others for contributions.

Cast:

-The Adults:
Howl- Willy Wonka
Sophie- Mrs. Bucket
Kamaji- Grandpa Joe
Lin- Mrs. Beauregarde

-The Kids:
Kiki- Charlie Bucket
Kumiko- Violet Beauregarde
Markl- Mike Teevee
Chihiro- Veruca Salt

Now note that not every adult from the book will appear in this story. So I still need a character for Mr. Salt, Augustus and Mrs. Gloop, and lastly Mr. Teevee or Mrs. Teevee.

Story: Kiki has been able to keep her family well fed thanks to her Flying Delivery Service. But with the decline in the economy, hard times fall on Kiki and her family.

It's just then that Kiki discovers the secret of a new delivery factory down the street that belongs to the great magician Howl. The success of Howl's factory is causing Kiki to go out of business with Howl's magic to deliver things faster.

One day, when Howl sends out 5 golden seals out into the world, Kiki is given the opportunity of a lifetime to set foot inside Howl's amazing factory along with 4 bratty children.

What surprises will be found? Only time will tell.

Also for those who don't know who Kumiko is, she's from Miyazaki's latest film "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea"

Here are some snapshots:

[link]

[link]

Anyways, keep the suggestions coming as I might want to start on the story this weekend.

Thanks a lot

Hi everyone. Eric here with an update and somewhat of a call for help.

For the past few months or so, I had an interest in doing a parody to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" only it being a Studio Ghibli edition.

Now what version of the story am I parodying? I kinda wanna do a parody of all 3 versions of the story. The book, the 70's film, and the 2005 film.

However, the only problem is that I have none of the cast I want for the parody with the exception of who is going to play Charlie.

I decided that Kiki would play the role of Charlie as she's a kind hearted character that is suitable for the role. However the rest of the cast is up for debate.

Now this is where you guys come in. This is a project that will require more than one writer to work with. Both with casting as well as writing.

Now how I'm going to write with another person is once again up for debate. Whether it be RP'ing the story out for ideas or sending each other's work back and forth for each chapter.

It's all up to those who wish to help make this story a reality as this might become an online Radio play.

Now here is the most important rule for contributions to the project:

-For the cast, it MUST be a character from a Studio Ghibli film. It doesn't have to be from a Miyazaki film necessarily. It can be a character from the works of Isao Takahata and the other directors at Studio Ghibli.

Second Update:

Christmas break finally begins on Thursday after school. So for those who watch my YouTube channel, then you'll be expecting a lot of videos from me.

Right now I'm editing the Top 10 Disney Sequels video. However, that one is taking forever to make due to having to get footage from all the movies I listed.

Anyways, those are the updates I wanted to address.

*UPDATE #1*
I'll be honest by saying that I am not a fan of Rap/Hip Hop/R & B

AT ALL.

However, there's this one song that has been stuck in head for a while:
[link]

This song is just amazing. It's songs like these that I think are hard to find in the genre.

What with Rap and Hip Hip being about Sex, Drugs, and Gang Violence.

In fact I love this song so much that I'm gonna make an Ghibli Couple AMV with it.

I can just imagine Howl and Sophie singing something like this XD

*UPDATE #2*
I had been wanting to introduce my mom to the films of Studio Ghibli. So when I told her that I had all of Miyazaki's films, the first one she wanted to watch was "Howl's Moving Castle"

About 2 hours later...

She loved it! She loved it so much that she wanted to watch "Spirited Away". But I told her that we would have to do that again some other time since that movie is about 2 more hours.

But still, I can't wait to watch all of them with her

Rant of the Day: Sonic Unleashed Wii

Now I know what a lot of you guys are thinking. You're gonna rant on a GOOD game?

Not exactly. While I feel Sonic Unleashed is shaping up to be a great game, I feel that SEGA created a conspiracy when it comes to the Wii version of the game.

For instance, the Wii version came out a week before the 360 version.

While Dimps did an amazing job with the level design, they didn't add any sort of depth to the levels.

The main objective of the Daytime stages is to just Speed Run through the entire level in the time it takes to get the best ranking.

Also a lot of the Platforming elements from past Sonic games has been completely removed. The Daytime stages are meant for Speed Running.

Now compare that to the 360 version:

In order to get the best ranking, you gotta speed your way while also building up your score based on how many enemies you kill or how fast you go or how many tricks you perform and how well you perform them.

All of the added depth and completion to the classic Sonic gameplay has been completely sucked out of the Wii version.

Now time for the Werehog:

While both versions of the Werehog look similar, here's the one thing that pisses me off the MOST about this version.

They give 3 Werehog stages and only 1 Sonic stage each continent...

*Warning! Anger Moment*

Now this is the one thing that pisses me off the most in this version. By the time you finish THREE (count that!) THREE acts of the Werehog, you go back to Daytime Sonic.

Now when you look at how fast you can finish a Werehog stage in the 360 version: which could be about 15 min.

Compared to the Wii version with all the acts put together: 10-15 minutes each!

But then you finish the Daytime stages in under a minute or two and then you gotta go back to the 3 act Werehog stages.

So there's more of the Werehog then regular Sonic in this version! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

Now I wouldn't mind this but its just that by the time you finish the stages you just wanna run and speed through enemies while jumping on the springs that make that amazing sound!

Look at the 360 version:

You go to Sonic, then back to Werehog for only ONE stage. Then it's back to Sonic again!

See how they split it 50/50 so as you can get more out of the Daytime and Nighttime stages? Not only that, the 360 version offers more out the Daytime stages than the Wii.

The Daytime stages seem longer and have more precision platforming that seems to be completely absent in the Wii version.

*Anger Moment Over*

Aside from the terrible percentage they give for both Daytime and Nighttime, the Hub worlds are pretty disappointing.

Just point and click. Also the medals are worthless. All they do is unlock collectibles for those Completionists.

Bottom line: Why did Sega rush this version and spend more time on the 360 and PS3 versions? If anything, this version should've had just as much time spent on it like the other versions.

Maybe then, the Werehog stages wouldn't be longer than the Daytime stages and we could've had Hub worlds and such.

Oh well. I'm just glad to know that Sonic Unleashed is finally the Sonic game I know I can enjoy after being disappointed with so many of the recent games I've received.

Hey guys. Anyways, I was looking at the movies that I was probably gonna see next year in 2009.

So the ones I ended up picking were:

Dragonball- Yes. I'm actually gonna watch this so called POS movie.

Why? Because I don't judge an adaptation on how accurate the actors are compared to the characters.

No. I judge these type of movies on how ENTERTAINING they are. That's why I go to the movies. Because I like to be entertained.

Yeah sure, some adaptations are crap yes. Like Garfield...ugh.

But there have been some entertaining adaptations like Casper, Scooby Doo 1 & 2, The Flinstones, and Speed Racer.

But the real reason why I'm gonna see this movie is because they got Stephen Chow doing the Martial Arts choreography.

I'm a fan of Stephen Chow's work. I liked Kung Fu Hustle and I'm a HUGE fan of Shaolin Soccer. So I think he'll do a fine job with the action.

Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen- What can I say? I liked the first Transformers movie despite the fact that Michael Bay was directing.

It had some pretty kickass action scenes and was mildly entertaining. But I felt that the one problem the first one had was that the action was so close that it was almost impossible to tell who was who.

But still. I hope that they'll try and fix that problem in the next adaptation.

Now definitely, while both movies I'm gonna see, there's only ONE movie I'm excited about.

That film is:

Power of the Dark Crystal- Everyone knows how much I love Jim Henson's work. I loved The Dark Crystal. Loved Labyrinth. Loved all of his work.

But when they announced a sequel with the creator of Samurai Jack set to direct, I literally had a fangasm.

Jim had so many ideas for the first movie that would've been set after the Crystal was healed. So if they put a lot of time and effort, then this will definitely be a success.

For me, It sounds like an extreme labor of love to the fans and Jim himself.

But still. Sequel or not, I'm extremely excited for this movie to come next Spring or so.

Rather unfortunate day for those who are fans of the gang over at Syntena Kingdom on YouTube.

I have quit being a VA and a Founder for the studio. I have many reasons why I did this but there's only one that I have to state.

I left because of the 3rd movie. I just feel incredibly awful even wanting to finish that movie.

It was a project that felt so real to me. I felt like I was really making a movie and it seemed like it would be the best one out of the trilogy.

But curse the way I was born! I took it seriously and pushed my friends to believe that it was important just like me.

Because of that, everything is forced. The acting, the writing, the editing...everything.

So because of that. I've screwed up another project that had good intentions. So why should I even be in the studio If I'm just going to push my friends?

I don't deserve the title of Founder or Director or VA.

I just deserve the title of nothing.

So because of this...I don't deserve to work with my friends anymore. I don't want to write, direct, or anything.

Is this how I'm gonna be when I'm a Director in the future? If so, then I won't be making good movies...I'll just be making crap.

All I cared about was what I wanted and not what my friends were suggesting. So I fucked up. I fuck up everything.

So goodbye ChaoticFlames. Goodbye Syntena Kingdom. Goodbye dubbing forever.

So far, this year has gone by pretty fast and I haven't really done anything this year for devART. Well this is because I've been practicing on my drawing since I'm in 9th Grade drawing.

However, I have been continuing on my movie making on YouTube and I've still been getting subscribers.

When I re-newed my account on YouTube back in April, I had uploaded an AMV entitled "Wicked: The Animated Musical (Part 1)" This was the jump start of my movie making popularity. In fact the video is still one my most popular ones on my page.

I had finished all the songs from Wicked and went on to make "Spamalot: The Animated Musical" which gained more fans.

Recently, I've been working on a series of AMV's set to the songs of the 2007 movie version of "Hairspray". So far the Hairspray videos have let me gain more experience in my editing skills and the videos get better with each part.

Once Hairspray is finished, I do not have any plans for future videos unless something comes up.

But enough about videos, let's talk about Stories.

I've currently written at least 7 stories on FF.net

Right now, I'm writing a screenplay for the upcoming release of the Nintendo Wii title, "Super Mario Galaxy".

I'm also in the midst of continuing my Sonic The Hedgehog fanfic based off of the horror movie "John Carpenter's The Thing".

As for 2008, I'm planning on writing screenplays for the following games:

Sonic The Hedgehog (1991 game)
Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. 2: Melee
Super Smash Bros. 3: Brawl

and finally a remake of the horrible "Super Mario Bros." movie.

So until then, check out the stuff on my FF. net account, FanOingo.

Well gang, I'm leaving for about 8 days to go to Florida. My family is going on a Disney Cruise. I'm bringing my camcorder along so you guys don't miss any of the excitement. The first 3 days we'll be staying at a Disney World hotel and we'll be visiting some of the parks in the resort. The next 5 days we'll be on the Disney Wonder (c). We'll be sailing towards Disney's private Island, "Castaway Cay". Then we'll be back here. So don't try and miss me too much when I'm gone.
