I haven't done a real update in like, four months. And that's not an exaggeration! My computer crashed about two months ago and I didn't have the heart to reformat it since I have two years worth of art on here. After much frustration, I made progress and my computer like half-works. I need to back up my files and reformat it, bad. I can do basic things on here, but it won't let me install the Windows Service Pack 2, Windows Live Messenger, or even iTunes. It SUCKS.

I do have some things in the pipeline, nothing big. I ended up with a broken computer for so long that I don't know if I'll be able to finish a CD cover project I had started back in August. Once my scanner is back online, I'll be able to post some sketches from that.

I'm already planning this years Valentine's cards and if the people I've presented ideas to are right, this year will be the best year yet. I know it's like three months off, but I want to have like 30 done this year on top of the 20 I've already done. I've got about 15 golden ideas so far. My comedy needs some work since I haven't done anything art-wise in like six months, so I'm kinda warming myself up before I bring myself back here full force.

What have you guys been up to? Any questions, concerns, love letters, etc. you want to share with me?

Hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates. I've just been engulfed with other stuff lately. I don't consider any of the stuff I've done since the Nintendo Valentines stuff good. I have a comic that I did maybe two months ago about halfway complete and have been too lazy to finish it. I don't even know if the joke is relevant anymore. I just haven't been able to think up any good jokes lately. I wanted to do something involving the 8-Bit Pick (pack?) Pals from Super Paper Mario, but never got around to it. I also wanted to do, and still do, want to do some Back to Brooklyn art. I just haven't had much inspiration.

Usually, I play a game, see something I can capitalize on, and make it funny, but in this case, I just haven't been able to do that lately. Here's a breakdown of games I've played since March:

God of War 2: (Great game, nothing I found to make fun of.)
Star Fox 64 (VC): Do a Barrel Roll. Meh.
Super Paper Mario: Nothing much.
Pokemon: Couple ideas, but nothing that funny.

And I don't think I'll be getting any new games anytime soon with the exception of the Halo 3 beta that starts Wednesday. I sent my 360 in last week, so it should be back by like Friday. I will be playing that all day, every day, until it ends on June 6th.

I dunno. I guess I haven't really had any inspiration for art and my skills are kind of getting rusty. I hope to get out of this slump soon because I hate these periods where I have no reason to release art for months at a time and I'm sure you guys hate it too.

Ok, so where should I start? It's been a long ass time since my last serious update. A lot of shit has gone down. Where should I begin?

MC Chris totally came here on March 27th. It was awesome, we were front-row and MC totally flew a kite with us before the show. Then my dumbass friend decides to say:

Ok, so here we are again. I rambled a bit too much in the last journal, so here I am again. If you didn't read my last journal, you should do that before reading this one. I'm really too lazy to recap.

Looking for talented artists: Part 1.

Ok, so I've established that I have three art positions available.

Here's what we're looking for:

Comic Artist:

We're looking for someone that could bring a comic to Play-Nintendo. It'd have to do with video games in some form or another, preferably Nintendo, but if you can wow me otherwise, we may be able to work something out. If you have a comic concept, pitch it to me in a Note. If you already have yourself an established comic, don't fret, let me see it and I'll pass it on to my piers.

Site Artist

Site Artist is a position that's more crucial to the success to the website. We've gotten by so far by using crudely made, copy and paste images for our articles and features. We simply cannot get away with this any longer. We need something stylized and fresh. Something that screams "I'm a virgin, but I could make you cum before me! lol" And yes, I'm serious about that last bit. We need someone who could mesh together an image to go along with an article and add some much needed zest to the mix. Time is a factor for this position. We'd need someone that'd be willing to bend to our every whim, ok, well not really that bad. We understand that people sometimes have lives. But it's the kind of thing where we'd need images on a day's notice. I understand this can add pressure, so it is my hopes that we can have at least two artists qualified for this position.

Other:

We're open to suggestions and anything else you can throw at us! I know these kind of positions can be demanding, but I'm going to do my best to make sure our artists have artistic freedom in what they provide for the site. If you have anything else in mind, feel free to let me know.

Photoshop:

Play-Nintendo is already home to some skills when it comes to Photoshop, but not all articles call for drawings. Sometimes they all for a nice image put together in Photoshop. If you've got some creativity, free-time, and skill in Photoshop, feel free to apply.

Logo:

Play-Nintendo's V2 launch is coming up quick in June and we need a new banner for the site. I've been told this can be drawn, Photoshopped, or even a combination, so don't get discouraged! The image would need to be 940 x 125 pixels, and I have some resources and a sample. If you want to learn more about this, Note me. This could also be a one time thing. Of course, Play-Nintendo would credit you for your creation, and this could quite possibly offer you a full time position on the Play-Nintendo staff.

I apologize for only have 3 positions available to start with. You can definately offer up your services for more than just one of these. I, myself, am even going to take a stab at the Play-Nintendo Banner / Logo. Time is a factor with us. If you aren't serious to dedicating your time (and your souls) to us, please refrain from applying. I'd really hate to help someone get a position, only to completely abandon us. I understand we all have different schedules and problems that arise, and those can be overlooked, but we want someone that's dedicated to furthering the site's success. Remember, not only will the site become more successful, but you will become better known as an artist. That's always a plus! So c'mon.

Play-Nintendo.com is in need of some talented artists. I don't know if posting a Journal is going to bring in any valid applications. They're really open to what you can bring to the table. I've got a couple of talented people I'm eyeing right now, but I truely doubt any of them will be interested. For all you know, you could be one of these people. And yes, I enjoyed that erotic chat we had last night, sexy. Just kidding. But seriously, if you're interested, leave a comic and I'll be sure to pass you on to the staff of Play-Nintendo. If you're interested, we'll work out the details of what you can provide to Play-Nintendo.

This is an opportunity that will help the site and yourself. Play-Nintendo is by no means among the ranks of Kotaku or Go-Nintendo, but with each month, the amount of unique visitors increases. The month of February boasts nearly a million unique visitors. Not to boast, but the majority of that was provided by yours truely. By becoming a part of a website such as Play-Nintendo, you'll be increasing your popularity amongst the internets and creating a name for yourself at the same time.

They're looking for several artists for a weekly feature, such as a comic or weekly image. They're also looking for artists that can make images to go along with articles and features. I've been doing it for a few months now and it's a blast.

Aside from that, they could really use someone that knows their way around Photoshop.

Sorry guys, I've been really busy with work, for those of you that have been wondering where I've been. It's not hectic or anything, it just consumes most of my time. But I'm getting paid better now, and with my promotion, I seem to be having a lot better time there. I've been playing the Wii a lot lately, mostly Zelda and Rayman, but I also picked up Dragonball Z.

Last night, I ended my shift already at 22 hours for the week, and that was Monday night. So I work like 9 hours tonight. I'll be at 31 hours for the week at the end of Tuesday night. Wednesday is another 9 hours, I'll be at 40 hours by Wednesday. And I'm scheduled to work Friday and Saturday, so if I work them, I'll be at like 55-60 hours for the week.

I worked 13 and a half hours yesterday. As I was telling someone, I'm working longer this week than the wait for Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Update: As of Tuesday night, I'm over 32 hours. With another 8 hour shift today.

I'm about to say "Fuck you." to my boss and take the rest of the week off. Can a company legally make a "part-time" employee work over 40 hours in a week? Let me know.

LOL, kidding. I wanted to see how many of you anxiously came in here, only to be disappointed. Expect the thing done in a week or two. I'm aiming for two, but who knows.

It should be about 3 minutes long when finished. It won't be the most visually beautiful cartoon out there, and you'll be able to tell it's not to the best of my abilities, but it's going for humoe. After almost two years of procrastinating and putting off projects, I will have a cartoon out within another two weeks. My last cartoon was a piece of crap know as "Fly With You," released in October 2004. This cartoon will only be a few minutes long, if that, and suprisingly, will not be a music video. I can't disclose the details just yet, but I'm taking some pride in it. The art may not be to the best of my ability, but who cares? Fatty D is releasing another cartoon! D:

I've got about 30 seconds of it in action so far and it is fucking hot. And I mean, FUCKING Hot.

Only thing I will tell you about it is that, yes, it is a Nintendo fan-video. I really think you guys will like it.

I could have it done in like two days, if it wasn't for work. That's why I need about two weeks. I'll be using the nights before my days off to bust my ass off on it. Sorry about the lack of art on here, but work is eating up ALL of my time. I haven't even made a real journal in fucking ages. I apologize. But this cartoon will make up for all of it. And I mean, ALL of it. Trust me.

Alright, so for the last two months, I've really enjoyed my job. I've been there for nearly two years and I'd like it on and off. But recently, we've been burried in shipment. I dig us out of it one day, to make room for the current day's shipment, get praise from my superiors, and then the next day get chewed out like nothing I ever do is good enough. The fuck? Talk about inconsinstancies. So two days ago, my boss called my cell phone, which I had accidentally left in my car, and left me a voice mail around 7 PM. I don't find out about it until the next morning, but my boss had changed my schedule from coming in at noon to coming in at 6:30 AM. You don't do that without actually getting in touch with the person anyway. I mean, what if I don't get that voice mail message until midnight? I'm supposed to go straight to bed and then get up at 5 am to get ready for work? Fuck now. D:

And now today, today is great. I had a call-in from 5-10, had plans to hang out with my mom today, go see a movie. I wanted to do something nice with her. We were going to see The Night Listener or World Trade Center. What happens? I get a call saying that they want me to come in ASAP and that I'll be working an eight hour shift. Good shit.

And of course, I have tomorrow requested off for my birthday. On top of that, it's the only day in like a fucking month, that I'll actually be able to see my Courtney. I swear to God if they want me in tomorrow, I'm cussing somebody out. I'm sick of it. I bend over backwards for them without much respect. The thing about jobs, it seems you get told more what you're doing wrong than what you're doing right. I'm sitting here, procrastinating on going into work. My day's already wasted, I wasn't given a set time to go in, I just told them I'd be in as soon as I could, so what's an hour or so? I'll be working 8 hours either way. So much for spending a little time with my mom today.

God I am pissed! Oh, and on top of that, the last two months, I've been working a solid 30-38 hours a week. It was nice, I was making money, I had consistant days off, I was happy. But then last week, my hours get the cut from HELL. I was originally scheduled 37.5 hours last week, come in on Wednesday to find out that instead of working the rest of the week, I was off. I got cut down to 15 hours. And now this week, I had 13 hours with the possibility of 20 with call-ins. Well after all this shit goes down, I'm up to over 30 hours. I wouldn't have minded it if they actually scheduled me that way. It was the fac that I wasn't expecting to work more than 15 hours this week.

I'm sick of these inconsistancies. I'm sick of "never doing anything right." I'm sick of the fact I was promised a raise LAST October and have yet to get one. I'm sick of all their bullshit. I'm sick of not getting the hours I deserve.

I'm pissed. The only thing that's getting me through this is the fact that my birthday is tomorrow. I'm not one to usually bitch and moan about this shit, but I'm finally fed up. The fact that I get to see my Courtney tomorrow is keeping me going.

It'll be nice, I get to go out to dinner with her, my family, and a close family friend. I'll HOPEFULLY be getting the X-Box 360 I've been hinting for. There's no better way to take out the aggression of work, than to run over a zombie with a lawnmower in Dead Rising. God, I want that game. And I also swear to God, if my parents decide to be cheap and get me the Core System, I'll return it and pay the extra $100 myself. If you get yourself a Core X-Box 360, you deserved to be shunned from the gaming community.

I doubt you guys will be getting art for another week or so. Sorry, my hours go back up to 35 next week and I'm gonna want to relax when I'm not working. Fuck, I was even excited about how I could watch The Venture Bros on the Friday Night Fix before I went into work. Now I have to wait until like 10. D:

It's really the simple things that would have made me happy. I could have gone and seen a movie today and I could have watched the newest Venture Bros before work and I would have been happy. I don't want to quit, but I'm so close to just walking up to the Pretzel Maker store in the mall, which I go to on my break everyday, grab an application, and suffer a $2 or $3 paycut to sell pretzels all day. Nintendo is flat-out saturating the market this fall; between the Wii and DS games, we've got a lot to look forward to. And by Nintendo, I mean some other companies supporting Nintendo products as well, but still.

How many of these AAA quality games does Nintendo really hope to sell on top of a new system release. Now I'm going to have a problem buying all the games I want between the DS and the Wii, and that's WITH a full-time job. I don't know how the average, teen, Nintendo Fan can afford nearly all of this. It's safe to assume that somewhere in there, the Wii will be dropped too. Game sales are going to suffer. Games I'd normally pick up like Megaman ZX, Contact, and such, may have to take a backseat to the Wii. Sales are going to suffer horridly. Square-Enix mentioned that they'd remake other classic FF games in the series if Final Fantasy III sold well, but releasing it as late as October in the US is a horrid idea. Gamers are really going to knit-pick through DS titles and choose only a few for this Fall line-up, on top of their savings for Wii. Can games like Final Fantasy II and Children of Mana, two titles that would otherwise sell millions, hold up to a launch of a new Nintendo console with 30 launch titles?

Nintendo's going to be raking in the dough this holiday season, but at the same time, game sales are going to suffer. This all came about when I realized that if I wanted Mario Hoops 3 on 1, Contact, and Megaman ZX, Dragon Quest, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 all in the same month, I'd be paying over $175 on JUST DS titles within a month and a half of the Wii launching! Now honestly, who can afford that and save up for the Wii? I have a monthly income of over $700 a month, but after the prices of living, there's no way I could casually spend $175 in the month of September while saving up for the Wii as well. As a gamer, I'll have to get picky and decide which games I want and which ones I don't.

[i]Let's see, two Mario titles in the month of September... Everyone knows how much I love Mario, and to sweeten the deal, both games are online. Yeah, I'll be getting those.

A new Megaman? Sounds hot, but I don't want it getting in the way of me buying a Wii, so I'll pass...

Dragon Quest? If it had been during the summer, when we saw a drought of DS titles, then yes, I'd buy the game in an instant, but I have too much to do this fall.

Contact? Sounds intriguing, it really does, but I can go back and pick that up after the Holiday rush when there's another drought of games..[/i]

Do you see the point I'm trying to get accross? And that's just for the month of September! For October, your list of games isn't as bad. You got Children of Mana and possibly Final Fantasy 3. Two games while waiting for the Wii, not that bad. And I'm excited for both titles, I'll be buying them.

And then November comes and you got Yoshi's Island 2.. The game looks amazing and any Mario fan considers this a must-have.. But thing is, it'll be out within several weeks of the Wii and gamers will most likely be broke from spending $400 + on the Wii and software.. Who's going to have the money to purchase DS games on top of that?

Sales of these games are going to suffer greatly. Even kids that ask for DS games for Christmas, in addition to their Wii's, will only see one or two of these titles. There are probably 15 great DS titles coming out this Holiday season, but due to an over-saturated market, not many of these games are going to sell as well as they deserve.
