So, I've been trundling through my costume list, and while I've not finished anything I've started in on at least six of them. So, in theory, if I get my head out of my sewing basket, I could finish some things in short order! Of course this now means I've added yet more things to my list...don't hit me! What can I say, I have to keep busy...yea, that's it...busy.

Still no new job in view, but I'll admit I've not been too diligent in my search, I'm working on the assumption they'll at least keep me until after the holiday season is done if only so they don't have to actually work. I could be wrong seeing as how they just fired two people from an already understaffed department...but we'll see.

Next up, decided to go ahead and toss the mini-crowns up for commission, they're on the same page as the hat information, so feel free to check that out. Still need to try my hand at the mini-tricorns, I think they may not happen the way I want.... But that's another project for another day!

Whew, got that outta my system. M'kay, what next...oh yeah....
First up, I'm thinking of doing two new things for commissions. The first up will be mini crowns, they're gold with different color beads on them and coordinating fabric ' puffs ' inside. I'll photograph laters when I steal a functioning camera. Second might be mini-tricorn hats. I've not yet worked out all the kinks in making these though, so they may be a much later thing. Both would be a lot more expensive than my fleece hats due to increase in labor and material costs. Not sure on either, feedback would be welcome?

Next up, OMGWTFBBQ this year I have 22...let me say that louder Twenty-Two costumes on my list. I didn't make it through 17 last year, who knows if I'll make it through these this go 'round. The only upside is it was originally 23 and one is already done, two are in progress and two are on 'long term hold'. So, sanity and free time are gooooooone.

Thirdly, did waaaaaaay too many conventions this last year, so I'm probably only going to hit the local cons this year. If I go out of town it won't be for the millions of conventions I did this year, I just can't take the drama any more.

Lastly, looking desperately for another job. I can no longer deal with anxiety nightmares, stress eating binges/purging binges, feeling like I'm incompetent and the resulting 'feel-better-costuming' runs. So, I'm coming to the end of the con-year for me here, and while I've not entirely finished my list of costumes I've come darn close. At the beginning of the year I had 17 costumes on the list, four for other people. I've now started the last one(maybe two) and will finish the year with 15 new, five for others. These weren't all initially on the list, but somehow it got...shuffled over the year. I've already got an equally long list for next year, but I think I may be smart enough to work on things a little more evenly. But, really, I do love to procrastinate, so I can't see that really happening.

I feel I need to address those that watch me that are/were pixel artists and watch me because I submitted a bit in the past. I don't honestly know if I'll ever go back to that hobby, as my costuming one seems to be all encompassing now. I won't rule it out, but I figure the likelihood is close to slim(which at least something in my life should be slim...). My muse is pretty much gone, he seems to have died a pretty quiet death over two years ago. I miss him, but have no idea how to get him back.

Beyond all that...yeah...uhm, can I restart my third decade over? Its only been five hours but I'd already like a do-over.

So, on the upside I'm making sliiiiiiight headway on the never ending costume list. I've yet to finish any of them, but I've gotten to the 70% or more finished point on two, and the 20% finished on two others. So, in theory, if I can finish those four, I'll be down to a dozen! ::throws party:: Erm, that's still depressing. But I've finished all the bits I can do in fun foam(I'm seriously addicted to using that stuff!), and so I have no way to procrastinate any furthur, and one of the cons I need some of them fore is in five days, and I can use and one more time or so in this sentence! Do I procrastinate? Nevah!

I think I may need to rethink my all-encompasing hobbies. I don't seem to know how to do things in moderation, I either go in so overboard or I do nothing. Case in point, I have now five sewing machines, why? so that should anyone I know wish to sew they can join me;however, I only have table space for three of them at any one given time. Grand plan. Another case, I have, in the last month, bought over 100 yds of fabric, and all for specific costumes. This doesn't mean I've touched any of the other hundreds of yards of fabric I have, just that I've felt the need to add to it.

Okay, I think I'm done now ::glances at clock:: yep, cause I gotta bolt. Learned the hard way that three sharpies will not dye a shoulder length wig, I need at least eight. So to che' Target I go, and maybe a bit of handsewing shall tag along while I'm sitting in my day off meeting..heheh, nearly put meating.... TTFN!

Can't tell it's a secret, but my heterosexual life partner and I are planning something monumental(at least we think it is) for a fall convention we attend. For those of you in the know keep yer trap shut, for those of you not...patience is a virtue. Beyond that I'm trapped in retail hell, aka Christmas, aka the best retail holiday of the year. So, as such I shan't be posting much(not that I had in months prior to this), and to that I hereby check my sanity into daycare, the gnomes into rehab, and my logic circuits into hock.

However, there are down sides, with a fifty hour work week as opposed to thirty six hour, I have less time to work on projects...but this doesn't stop me from taking them on. As of right now I have eight costumes to make, six of them before June, two of them before the start of May! OMG, what have I done??!! Well, actually, it'll be all good. In April I'll be gone for two weeks to another store for 'training' and I'll be put up in a hotel. This means no computer time for two weeks, so I'll take my sewing machine/serger and scare the hotel staff muahahahaha.

Wow, two evil laughs in one journal entry...wonder if I can make it three?

Finally posted images of my latest hat designs, finally head back from Ray about them, so enjoy the photos folks, the hats themselves are looooong gone into the ether. Seems he lost 'em before the first showing, he wants more for a show later in the year...but I dunno, his communication sux. Nope, no third evil laugh, oh well.

Since that day I've made seven hats, and bought more fleece than I think I'd ever planned on owning. But, since people seem to like 'em I'm all for it. They only take me about forty five minutes from start to finish, so the labor is minimal, and the results are adorable!

Since then I've added both male and female cows to the hat repertoire, and am working on making dog and bunny and mouse ears. We shall see how those go. But, since I've already done my first commission I figured I'd put this up, so others could order one if they want.

I will take limited commissions on fleece animal ear hats. If you want a hat you need to note me with the subject 'Ear Hat Commission' and fill out the following:

Hat color:[the main part of the hat]
Band color:[the three inch band around the hat]
Ear type:[cat/mouse/dog/rabbit/cow/etc*]
Ear outer color:[outside of the ear]
Ear inner color:[inside of the ear]
Horn color:[optional]
Anything additional:[sorta self explanatory]

Basic ear hats $10
Elaborate ear hats $15
S/H (2-3 day priority) $5

*I'm not limiting myself to one or two animals, if you have a specific animal ear you want I will try my best. However, I cannot promise your vision of it and mine are identical, so images are a good idea if it's more than the basic cat/cow/rabbit sort. A good example are dog ears, there's floppy dog ears and upright, so be specific or you may not like the results.

This is a good thing...except I have three different projects I promsed folks, and now I'm gonna have to put them on the back burner. I hate doing that, but I thought he'd ignor me again and let me do both, but no. So, for those that have things promised to them I SWEAR I'll get to them as soon as I can! Gomen Gomen!!

However, this is a good thing, this proves I can focus when forced...I think...it's hard to focus Mega thanks to for putting up with my demands for her time, and for letting me invade her home and kidnap her dress form for four hours last night...arigato! And yes, now my speach shall be peppered with bad anime-ese(cause it's not real japanese if you learn it from anime).

Now for random-ness you probably don't care about(like you cared about the above). I have a new guilty-pleasure anime...and no, I won't tell you waht it is, it's totally juvanile and silly...but I am sooooooooooooo hooked! So, managers gone for a week :: does happy dance :: However, that means I have to do her job, and mine...all in half the hours she normal gets. Luckily she takes four times as long to do one job so I've got half my time left over God I'm a b*tch. got volunteered to run the JAB thingie we're doing, and the Adoption event happening in a month...no, free time? what's this?

Working on getting some projects done, started the random stuff needed for Cat's costumes, and Nurikos guantlets. Hopefully the sewing gnomes will perk up and get cracking I've got two months :: Need to tackle Amethyst and get her out here to body-double for me...need to do many things...

Now, with that out of the way, here's the reason behind this journal. Other than the fact that my winners for the last one never got back to me, ladies, step up or your prize goes by teh wayside.

I get calls nearly daily asking if we have kittens. Not cats, kittens, the younger the better. I just want to yell into the phone NO Kitten FOR YOUUU! I mean, there's millions of adult animals wanting homes, some that are good with kids/cats/dogs/weird other animals. Why the hell do people assume that only kittens adapt to other animals and situations??! Yeah, they're cute, but I've got a 10 year old persian in my lap who leaves 'em all in the dust.

Now, that said, yes, someone has to adopt kittens too, but every summer I see humanity go dumb as bricks over these little furballs. If you're looking for a new pet pleeeeeeeeeease please please don't rule out adult animals. Visit your local rescues, look in vet offices for pets in need of families, or go to petfinder.com Someone out there will love you unconditionally for that.

Been working on my cosplay stuff, got to order my boning and busk and grommets...and so much more! I'm hoping their arrival will spur me into a frenzy of costuming...if not I still got months! I need to next order my other wigs...thank god they started carrying ones with ringlets!

And lastly...I'm on an x-men overload! I've now seen previews for X-3 all day! I want it to be may 26 NOW! I've been reminding myself it's an alternate universe so I don't maim anyone in the theaters, and so I think I'm ready! I need to contemplate what I'm going to do for my shirts for this move(last movie I had nightcrawler on mine). Working on some pixels of the movie characters, and I want to find a place I can rewatch some of the previews(I've already got the teaser and the theatrical trailer). In fact, I think I shall go watch them again...::hums the animated series theme:: Laters all!

I was talking with a friend and I mentioned that I needed to make a new layout and some link buttons for my site. I have a great idea for one, but it's something I'll have to do from scratch and I told her so. She told me, in a nutshell, that she knew I could do it, and I commented that I wasn't so sure. I'm not sure what I did but karma kicked me in the butt. I've not been sick, really sick, in over eight years but I visited family this last weekend and now I feel like something Fri devoured. I'm on dayquil(yay for the fog) and cough drops, but I still feel icky!

On top of that pity-postness of it all my muse is being a butt-head. He wants to work on Caterina's outfit, but I have to go buy the velvet(bleh velvet hates me) to do that...and see above if you wonder why I'm not in the mood. I want to pixel(I've no idea what to pixel, but I do), he wants to sew, and as the muse he freakin' wins I suppose. The only bit of good news...well two bits, is that I have an adorably shave-ed frenchie on my lap spell checking(he's a cat...did you think it would help??) and it's warm enough I should be able to wear my new pistachio London Fog coat to run errands.

So, if you have anything inspiring lemme have it, I need all the help I can get today.

New Excalibur: New cast, no Meggan(ultimate flaw of DOOOOM), and lets see, who's our adversary...oh, yeah, the warwolves.... Waaaaait, didn't your first Excalibur line trounce them and turn them into zoo-specimines? Oh, yeah, congrats on the 'new' storyline(will this one last three issues too??)

Astonishing x-men: Emma...uhm, you mean the former white queen 'I'll kick the x-mens butts eventually'? yeah, her...uhm...was anyone else not all that surprised to finally figure out that she's playing both teams?? I mean duuuuh! It's Emma! If she could figure out how to play for the x-men, hellfire club, appocolypse, warwolves, shiar, etc, etc etc you know she would! Shesh, someone fetch her corset!

X-men: New cast...somewhat...not really...but go with it, and whos that looming in the distance? Oh, yeah, the great 'I possessed Scott 'The non-personality' Summers, also known as Appocolypse. Uhm...wait...four horsemen? Onna the x-men gonna go evil? check, and check! Congrats, do we get 'The Twelve' Back now too?

X-men the End Part 3: Hmmm, aliens attack, and whom do we have to save us? Is that...ayep, it's Jean 'No-I'm-reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally-the-Phoenix' Grey-summers, no, nope, not dead, well at least not right now. The only mind twist they decided to throw into this 'I watched the Animated Series' schlock is that Gambits a clone!! I mean..a clone? in x-men?? nevah!

And to top it all off Cable and Deadpool was nearly NON-Deadpool! Sheesh, if I wanted to read about a summers' I would have drug out more copies of the other titles! Say it with me Cable...'MOMMY!!'


Now, for the diclaimer before marvel or someone who luuuuuurvs them/works for them/toadies to them reads this. I do like the X-men, I really do, hence I still spend my money on them(and not on the drooltastic fabric I see!), but IMO their creativity dried up in the 80s. No offense is meant, though if you wanna be offended knock yourself out, just don't grumble to moi.

I won't share the name of the series(amethyst, no telling, only you and I have seen it!), but it's good...I think. The characters are great, the concept...if not original was at least well done, the plot had lots of twists...and twits(which I tried to replace twists with...sigh). But the ending was...weeeeeeird. I hope that maybe they set it up that way for an OVA or another season to come out. It's fairly new...they might...right? ...please??

Anyways, yeah, I know I've not done anything...well, shown anything, in a while, but I'm working on two major pixel projects right now and hopefully one or the other or both'll be done soon! :: smacks muse and hides his crayons :: Or maybe I'll put up a teaser image for a while...who knows!

I've lived through deaths that didn't mean dead, characters magically, and whatnot, getting new/old/different powers. But this is the final straw. Meggan, my favorite character, the insecure, powerful, naieve, sweet character whome I love is gone. Marvel 'killed' her in Uncanny 465...however her disapperance from the comic is not my complaint. After all 'dead means dead' to no one in that world, what they killed was who meggan was. No longer insecure Meggan finally realized(a few pannels before hurtling herself into the void) how strong she really was.

And that is what frustrates me! Meggan was a great character to read when she was all of those things, but how much greater...more great?? grammar scares me...could she have become once so impowered with her own self worth?? Yeah, I realize I'm ranting about a two dimensional character whom will most likely appear in another ten years completely unchanged, but she is my favorite!

I can only hope that the roomfull of monkies realizes their mistake and pulls her back from the 'non-death-death' they gave her soon to let us all explore the person she can now be.

On a different note I'm now contemplating halloween. I've no idea what to be! I have so many costumes in my closet already I'm not sure who/what I want to be. I'm half tempted to wear my antique velvet jacket(it's approximately 75 years old...that makes it antique yes?) along with a set of hat and gloves(cause I have many of both).

So I guess I"ll have to figure that out sometime soon..but if push comes to shove I may just drag something out of the closet and call it a costume.

So, I realized after I got home I have NO pictures of me in costume! Or of Amanda for that matter! grrrrrrrr, I don't wanna put it back on(as much as I love it), so I may wait and fix what drove me nuts first :: evil grin :: Anyways, off hte subject of costumes(I went as Lacas Clyne/Klein(depends on how you wanna spell that)). Onto the good stuff about con!

So, yesh, I lurved it! from the opening ceremony with the kickass japanese drum proformance, to the voice pannels to the knot tying to the anime at 10pm to the everything! Well...not eeeeeeeeeeverything. the Cesna that lived in the hotel room with me wasn't fun...but you gotta suffer to truely enjoy things.

I have sooooooooooo much planned for the next one now! So many costume ideas, so many schedualing plans, so many on soooooooooo many levels!!! I need to really peg some down, or I'll end up with a ton of costumes and have no idea who I am anymore(I'm such a dork!).

And the best thing ever was that it helped amanda forget about how sucky the next few weeks'll be. That was my whole goal for the weekened, and YAY I succeeded! She had fun :: nudges her to make a journal entry ::, and even did the costume competition! She so rocked! I fear for my soul with the undead preistess Kikyo around!

But now, I'm wiped out, the cessna got back to the room at four am and there ended my sleep of two hours...I've been up since then, running on water(huzzah I can drink more now that I odn' have to wiggle in and out of my costume!), more anime and the knowledge that I don't have work tomorrow!

I find that I like making major scenes, large peices that have lots of fun details...however I'm not sure I'm improving all that much on them. I suppose once I'm done with my next few requests I should work on them...anyone got good tips on grass???? grass is darn hard, lol. wood I've finally come to terms with, but grass is a pain.
