Australia - This is just about top of my worst film of all time list.

I only saw it because a good friend and colleague had a large role as one of the bad guys. (And because I had free tickets). He now owes me three hours of my life!

Who keeps giving roles to Nicole?! Did anyone tell her that this was apparently a serious film, not a pantomine! And what's with her face and forehead - nothing moves??

Almost everything in this film is fantasy, but the Director is trying to push it as reality. Australia (the country) is neither as bad or racist as this film tries to push.

They couldn't even get basic documented historical facts right; what battalion do we see stationed in Darwin, when did Japanese troops raid islands below New Guinea, Liberty ships in Australia so early in the war, did we really send aboriginal kids out to an island that was never in reality invaded. There's just too much to bother mentioning.

For you people of other countries who see this drivel - please understand - this is not the reality of our wonderful country, it has more fantasy than Lord Of The Rings. The Director is a typical Western hating lefty.

You got one thing right though Baz. There is a great country called Australia, and it does have a town called Darwin, but you failed on almost every other point!

Russell Crowe - Smart move to turn down this film.

Hello to everyone. I've been a recluse. It's been a year since I last submitted anything. Just been too busy to do any art, or talk, or browse.

During the last year I have worked camera, sound or edited several Documentaries, TV commercials, Cinema Commercial, lots of Corporate BS, boring Govt Minister speeches, Bureau of Meteorology climate scare propaganda, Dairy Australia, Massey Fergusson, Volkswagon, Skoda, Mental Health - it goes on.

Anyway, last week I tore the muscles in my calf, and now I am a total cripple, still can't get a shoe on my swollen foot, and my leg is one large painful bruise. On the good side, as I have been unable to walk, I am forced to slow down. This means that I have been able to do some art.

So I drew "Strasse Krieg" in the last few days - my first non work related art in a year. Now I suppose I will draw something else. Oh, yeah, I changed my style somewhat.

Well we have just come back from one of the greatest weekends we have experienced in a long time.

The largest World War 2 re-enactment in Australian History was held in our vicinity and we were engaged to photograph and video the event. And what an event, the costumes, the vehicles, the weapons, explosions, rocket launchers, cannons, everything except for dive bombers.

I was despatched to the German camp and was soon clothed in a German uniform and fitted with a full pack of field gear. Before long I was on the front lines in full defence against a determined British-American-Polish-Dutch allied attack force.

The running battle continued for the next 10 kilometres with us Germans fighting a gallant retreat until we re-grouped and charged the Allied flank. Our Niebelwefurs took out their light armoured vehicles and then us grunts charged their trenches. It was just like playing Call Of Duty2 (except for running with a full load and trying to take pictures - I'm not getting any younger!).

The Germans won this battle, just as they did for real in 1944.

Probably the real highlight was to get to speak with real veterans who were there in WW2. Amazing stories from amazing people. The pain and scars (emotional and physical) that these guys have lived with all of their lives is truly sobering. Anyone who thinks that they have problems should talk to some of these vets.

And to those of you out there who condemn this type of activity, you know, those of you who think Anzac Day means nothing, and that re-enactors are just war mongers glorifying violence - remember - those who forget history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes.

Some pictures from the weekend [link]

I've been lying low and licking my wounds for the last few months. I hadn't been to a Doctor in about 18 years, then something happened and I had to go. After much prodding. scanning. sampling and testing it was confirmed that I was suffering life threatening injuries/illnesses, including damage to major organs.

Now my body has been through more than it's fair share of trauma and I've probably earned the damage by not getting it seen to properly at the time. But hey, I'M A MALE, AND INDESTRUCTIBLE - right men? - you know the attitude.

The main problem is that this has put me three months behind schedule on everything that I have been working on. Especially "The Maiden". I will contact everyone involved over the next few days to get everyone up to date on the progress (or lack of). Sorry for the lack of communication but I have been concentrating on still being around when my kids grow up.

Anyway, I'm just about fully healed now, about 90%. I will be fully healed but I have to make some major lifestyle changes.

On a brighter note we recently replaced our monitors with 22" widescreen LCD's. Kat has a new super fast computer with fantastic graphic capability. And I bought myself a new Wacom Intuos 3, because I could never get our other Wacom out of Kat's grasp.

Now I can finally work on some more art.

Well I've done it. It's like losing a limb, or a best mate! My ample hair of seventeen years growth has been removed!

For only the second time in my life I have short hair. And I mean short. Almost bald. Number two shears in fact, all over. I have not had hair this short since I was a baby.

Now, I thought that I would look less like a thug, and slightly more human with short hair - but no!!!! Now I even scare myself when looking in the mirror. I look like I'm gonna pull a knife on myself or something.
People are walking a step further away!

I've still kept the beard though. Another good thing is that I look so different many people won't recognise me. (I should have robbed a bank before cutting it off).

Anyway, I guess I'll just have to grow it again now!

Well it was about 3:00am when we wrapped the final scene for the film. It was a heavy shooting load taking in many scenes and four locations.

The Stone Circle/Sarcophagus set looked stunning under the simulated moonlight. Britt (The Maiden) was at her fantastic best as she worked within the set.

I've just come from another interview with the local media. Like everyone they were stunned by the set. They've done another story on the film due out tomorrow.

I really have to thank all of the cast and crew for their sterling efforts. Now it's into the post production for the next six weeks.

I'll put up a couple of photos here - more on the official Maiden Film website.

Well the final shoot of the principal photography will be occuring on Saturday 18th, weather permitting. We will be filming all of the scenes inside the Stone Circle under lights at night. There will be several twilight shots and a whole load more against the green screen.

I had an interview with the local media today. We had a long talk and I showed them loads of the photos taken during production. They were quite taken by the effort in the costumes, props and settings that we have created. They are coming out on Saturday to take photos of the Stone Circle and Sarcophagus set.

It was good to hear the wonder and praises, and to receive recognition of the efforts we have all gone to. So to everyone who has been involved, congratulations and a great big thanks for your work.

We are estimating completion of the special effects and a final cut of the film by Feb 2007.

On a completely seperate issue, look for yours truly in at least two new TV commercials in the new year - for those who know my hairy mug!

Look for our AD Eddie in his role in the upcoming film "Ghost Rider".

Look for our Director Peter in yet another upcoming TV commercial.

In other news I think I shall not renew my teaching position next year, but move back into the industry. Also Kat and I will probably finally make a start on building our new house - once we get the plans finalised!

Anyway, on with the filming!

Many of us are mildly sunburnt (no-one thought that there was that much sun hitting us).

The lead actors performed magnificently resulting in some great footage. Can't wait to begin editing it all.

Well the weather and the landscape is finally consistent enough for us to go ahead with the next days filming of "The Maiden".

We are going to shoot all of the daytime, happy, fluffy scenes. Seven scenes in all. Most are fairly straightforward.

There are two important scenes where having experienced actors is really going to make the difference.

Again this is the culmination of the efforts of a lot of dedicated people and I would like to thank them for their efforts in advance.

When will all of this happen? Saturday 4th November 2006.
Where will all of this happen? Not telling you unless you are involved!

I'll probably post some pictures though. I did say that I would after the last filming day, but I didn't, so maybe I should. They are up on the Website though.

As many of you are aware, Kat, myself and a band of dedicated crew have been diligently at work behind the scenes for nearly a year preparing for the creation of a short film based upon ~RavenLady's poem "The Maiden".

Well it is about to become a reality.

Tomorrow, after the Anzac tribute, we will begin filming background shots, plate shots, and some of the introduction.

On Saturday we will be filming the battle scenes. Various local re-enactment societies have come forth ready to do battle. I will post some images here on Saturday night or Sunday depending upon how I recover.

The character scenes are scheduled later.

A great amount of preparation has driven the project to this stage with *Astalythe's fantastic costumes, the props and sets, the vision of the Director Peter Richards, the combined talents of the cast and crew.

All are excitedly waiting to begin.

Call me a Bra - because I support Boobs! And beacause I am a big bra - I support BIG BOOBS.

98% of the half of the poulation that aren't the ones thrusting straining tight t-shirt material in our faces, are at least happy to accomodate the ones that feel the need to.

Being the observant type, it has come to my attention (i.e. I have been whinged at), that I am one of those horrid despicables who draws females with - shock, horror - BIG BOOBS!

Well I've got a newsflash for "you" folks! Not everyone is created equal - and some women do have big boobs! Yes, really! And they're not all bad people. And they're not all silicone. (And they're not all women!). And they have the right to be viewed!

Second Newsflash - This is F A N T A S Y ART.

Third Newsflash - Everything in Fantasy Art is bigger, bulgier, veinier, toothier, excessive and beyond the bounds of reality.

Would you go to the cinema and watch "Conan the 50 Pound Weakling with Body Image Issues"?

Well let's put the shoe on the other foot. I also happen to draw MANY MORE pictures of obscenely overmuscled body perfect equally over the top MALE Barbarians.

I have never yet received a complaint about that! Strange how the champions of the poor body image fraternity are only after the blood of those who draw big boobs. It seems that big muscley men are OK. Typical double standard scenario!

In reality "she would fall over", "she wouldn't be able to use a weapon", "she would be bent over", "she wouldn't survive", "women (presumably the bigger breasted variety) in bikinis would be killed by those in armour" - yeah I've heard them all.

Folks, I want you to try something. Open your mouth and say - Fantasy. Try it, it just rolls off of the tongue - F A N T A S Y. Now say it with passion, say it with conviction, say it like it is - fantasy - not reality.

Gee I would hate to be the artist who created Jessica Rabbit. He must be a total desperado! Send him to the chair!! (Sarcasm expressed and encouraged).

Anyway, because I am such a frivilous person, I want to start a list called the "In Reality List" to help the anti big boob people out there to cope with the world of Fantasy - yes that word again - Fantasy.

Feel free to add to the In Reality List.

In Reality:

In Reality - She wouldn't fall over because as she matured and developed her big boobs her body also developed the necessary musculature and posture to support those boobs.

In Reality - She could use the weapon because the tribe of big breasted women where she came from has developed a specific style of combat where she uses a weapon in each hand at her side whilst the boobs can actually wield a third weapon by themselves.

In Reality - Women in bikinis (Even the big breasted ones) can run rings around other women in armour. Don't believe me! Well that's why at the Olympics they run the athletics in lycra bodysuits instead of full plate armour.

In Reality - Women with big boobs get whisked away in fast cars and showered with expensive gifts and treated like goddesses. (Yeah - I am that shallow!).

In Reality - Most of the weapons depicted in Fantasy Art are unuseable by anyone, even those with big boobs.

In Reality - Most of the armour depicted in Fantasy Art is unuseable by anyone, especially those with big boobs. But why would you want to cover them anyway? That's why we draw them in bikinis.

In Reality - I'm yet to see a real live living fairy, elf, dwarf, orc, etc - with any sort of boobs.

In Reality - Putting a Photoshop Filter over a Black and White photo of a boob can be art. If it wasn't - why are there so many Art Exhibitions full of it? Why are there so many rich photographers who do it? If there was no demand for it, who is paying those photographers to make them rich?

In Reality - Who of you out there has the right to impose "your" interpretation of what is Art on any Artist?

In Reality - You have the right to decide what you like, you have the right to be offended, you have the right to not look at it.
