I completely take back my previous throw-away sentence comment about v6 - so much so I am editing over the top of the journal. IN ENTIRELY. I may have been slightly over-eager in my praisings (or at least, non-insultings) of the new site, but I accept now I was merely happy because this site was once again working for me. Properly. I could finally do what this site was intended for: browse art, without waiting ten minutes for a page to load (incompletely, I might add)... dA was BACK.

And then, mere hours after posting the journal, I suddenly experience A BUG. (Unless of course, it's just my crappy internet finding new ways to taunt me, which is entirely possible. Either way, I'm still annoyed and will blindly continue with this rant. I'm not sure where it's going, but I hope it's somewhere good...)

For some reason, my message page is completely screwed up, and I am now unable to sort or delete comments/replies, journals, deviations etc. from my watch. Which may in itself not sound like too much of a problem, but once again they're rapidly accumulating and there's no point in even ATTEMPTING to keep up to date if I have no way of sorting my way through. I feel like an 19th explorer (complete with hat) trapped in a jungle without a trusty machete to hack my way through...

So, the point of all this is to simply say an emphatic "BAH", and that I will reply to comments, read journals, and view deviations at a time this site permits me to USE the new features it provided before cruelly snatching them away. Which could be a long time. WE SHALL SEE.

Is anyone else having problems?

Exams are completely over, and it's about a month and a half until the results are released so it's just a case of waiting... I'm fairly certain I've done well enough to get the grades I need... then it's off to discover the joys of Psychology at university.

I haven't been on dA much lately because for some reason as soon as I log in the site suddenly goes veeeeery slooooow, and trying to open my messages is taking so long I generally give up. On top of that I've been getting a lot of headaches these last few days, which I assume are hayfever related. But yay for painkillers!

I'm about to go on holiday so there won't be many updates for a while... Hope everyone is having a good (pollen free) summer!!

Ooh, I do have 1 piece to upload before I go, but I think it's a bit adventurous to attempt both that AND a journal all in one go. I'll try later, in the hope dA stops hating me.

1. I'm bad at remembering names, so I just invent nicknames for people instead. I even invent names for people I seem to encounter repeatedly in my every day life, despite never actually talking to them or knowing anything about them. Yes, Mr Explorer, I'm referring to you.

2. I don't so much hate the Cubist movement as the fact that my art teacher is constantly trying to ram it down our throats. I'm the first to admit that the Cubists have far more skill than the combined "talent" of most of the modern "artists" these days. But it's just NOT MY STYLE.

3. My brother keeps telling me I look like an owl.

4. I use words like "indeed" far too much in normal conversation.

5. I think I'll be going to the leavers' prom after all. Although I don't really care about the prom, I just want to have a reason to wear an impractical dress for once, considering that I have not worn a dress for... err, many many many years. Um. That sounds so shallow, doesn't it?

6. I am seriously clumsy. It's not a normal day unless I successfully walk into a table. Or spill something. Liquids and myself are not a good combination. Like electricity. I mean water and electricity, not me and elect- actually, that's probably not a good combination either!

7. I have plans for my student loan. Plans involving a PS3 and DMC4. Heh heh heh.

8. I hate texting. My typing speed far exceeds my texting speed. I can't help it, I'm not used to the alphabet being in the right order! It doesn't help that I'm incapable of expressing myself in any way that borders on being brief... which then results in being over word limits and having to go back and delete all the precious vowels. ANYTHING BUT THE VOWELS!

Now that school's finished I'm starting to feel vaguely Christmassy. Although maybe that's just because I'm listening to too much TSO.

Somehow I've managed to break through the through lack of time/inspiration barrier so I actually HAVE something to upload! Yay!

For the next two weeks I will be sleeping, eating faaaaar too much, more sleeping, catching up on all my dA messages (that's gonna take a while!) and um... revision. But let's IGNORE the fact I have three impending maths exams (one of which contains every single topic I don't understand handily condensed into one paper.)

FACTS:

1. I love reading, but I hate all the "classics" like Jane Austen (and it's because of this I no longer do English lit.) I've always loved fantasy/sci-fi books, and by now I probably know every single cliche off by heart... it's fun to annoy my mum when watching films by guessing what's going to happen next.

2. I think I'm incapable of liking "mainstream" things. I mean, normal people have never heard of the bands I like, hate all the shows I love and think I read obscure fantasy books...

3. I love writing, but I get embarrassed when people read my original stories... Ironic, considering I want to be an author!

4. I can't stand hot weather. Why can't it be Winter already so I can wear my new boots?

5. I find strange things amusing. For example, I was watching an episode of Stargate Atlantis a few days ago and Sheppard and co. were standing around not doing much in a field, when this extra on a sit-on-van thing just drove past in the background and I burst out laughing. Why? Who knows. It's best not to question the logic of my brain for fear that there is none.

6. I suppose one reason I'm interested in Psychology is because I think I view the world differently to everyone else. Human nature is something that constantly fascinates me. "Fascinate" is probably the wrong word since I mean it in a bad way... gaa, Friday is not the best time to try and be deep and intellectual.

7. I hate people who follow trends for the sake of it (especially in fashion) and I generally refuse to follow purely on principle. If I ever became some rich, influential fashion designer I'd invent the most stupid clothes ever and see how many people would actually wear them... because, let's face it, they would. And then I would laugh, LAUGH MANICALLY FROM THE TOP OF MY TOWER-

As you may have noticed, I haven't uploaded anything new for ages. I've got one piece which should be up soon ("soon" being an indefinite length of time depending on when I can be bothered to finish it) but I've mainly been doing crazy mixed media pieces for my school project...

Also, thanks to redrafting the opening of my book, I've somehow managed to write -7000 words. Yup, MINUS words.

Slava reclaimed her playstation yesterday so I'm now DMC-less.
I just need to survive until October when The Witcher will be released.

Despite clinging to life like a particularly persistent limpet to a rock, there's only so long I can bear to have a battery that only seems to last 10 minutes before dying. Then again, it appears to be impossible to find a decent replacement since all 20gb players have VANISHED FROM THE FACE OF EXISTENCE. Apart from one which costs like £200.
No thanks.

Just because they're too busy filling them with flashy yet ultimatlely pointless gimicks. Oh wow, colour screen? That really improves the experience of listening to music.

I LOVE PSYCHOLOGY!!! (This solves it, I'm definitely doing psychology at uni.)

I was really worried about Maths and English but it all turned out fine... although I'm sure there's still some conspiracy going on with The Great Gatsby paper. I've done it twice now and I got exactly the same mark!! Ah well, turns out I can babble on about olde love poetry and feminist plays a lot better than I thought I could, and I did well in the coursework so it doesn't really matter.

And since Slava is mean and escaping to France for 2 or so weeks, I get to commandeer the playstation for longer. I started a new DMC3 game as Vergil.
I WANT HIS COAT.

But it's not very exciting... we got the results back from the Great Gatsby re-sit (apparently we didn't get any of the other subject results back, just english) and it turned out I got one more mark than the first attempt (in other words, still completely crap), so I was like "oh noes!" and then we had to re-sit it AGAIN!

As far as dreams go, I've had better. The good ones usually involve vampires and zombies.

At tea. I can't even remember WHY I was laughing hysterically now... My dad accused me of being drunk.

The next four words are something I have never imagined putting into a sentence together: I have a job! After my work experience at a photographers, they offered me some work in the holiday. I think I'm the first person who went there and had a vague idea of how to use Photoshop!

It seemed a bit stupid to turn it down, especially since I need some money to pay for my new MP3 player - my old one broke! Last week, I was mainly working there for the air conditioning. The weather has cooled down slightly now, but last week it got up to about 35 degrees celcius! This is England... the land of rain. Since when have we been hotter than the Caribbean?

Yay, holidays! I love half term. What I don't love is the masses of homework I've got to do *cough* art *cough*. So much for my plans of hibernating for the week
Then there's the Chemistry cartoon thingy. I'm thinking of doing it in Photoshop but I don't know if I can be bothered. We have to do something "scientific" about an element. So far, "THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF THE AMAZING EXPLODING POTASSIUM MAN" doesn't have much of a storyline apart from his evil-long-lost-half-brother Potassium Nitrate trying to take over the world... what? I want it to be cheesy. Very cheesy.
