- For anyone I haven't told this to already, YUI is a Japanese singer/songwriter and probably my favourite musician. -

Now, about GLORIA: When I first heard this song, I didn't really like it. However, I still downloaded it because with several of YUI's other songs, it took me a while to listen to them, get the lyrics translated and grasp what they were about, and only then did I start to like them. (I disliked 'Again' and 'Good-bye days' after hearing them for the first time, but now both are two of my favourites.)

Anyway, I maintain that while I do like GLORIA, and think it has a good message, it doesn't have enough of the sound variation that you normally get when listening to YUI. There's no intro or outro, it just launches in with her voice and ends with the same thing. And the guitar plays the same sound the whole way through; there's no bridge in the middle as she normally has, and it all just sounds a bit rushed off. It would be great as a track on an album, but for a single I was expecting something that varied in sound a bit more and showed off YUI's voice.

The lyrics and song are upbeat and charged with that kind of "Do your best!" message that Japanese music/anime sometimes has. It's about youth, and working towards the future despite being a bit nervous of how things will turn out. The music video features two teenagers studying for exams.

The thing is, I was a bit disappointed with GLORIA because when we fans hanging out on the YUI forum heard what it was about, I expected something like "Tomorrow's Way" which was beautiful and really convinced you that she had a great voice. Never mind, I still like the song, just it's not my favourite. (Loving YUI's hairstyle and outfits though, she remains a true style icon for us short haired girls )

Today was mixed. In the afternoon, I bought myself a nice present = Sand Chronicles volume 5 (one of my more embarrassing addictions) and a V mask. You know, V....as in, for Vendetta?

This evening, I ate homemade cupcakes, yummy fizzy jellies from Tesco, Maltesers, random things from my sister's trick or treat bag, and a chocolate worms.

But then I was sad because the Tube was in total disarray and I couldn't go to the ice rink

Aha, never mind. I'll be going skating at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. Really, you ask?

The answer: Yes. I now get up at 5 on Sundays to go and whiz around a bone-chillingly cold slab of frozen water with knives attached to my feet.

(Y'know, when you describe skating that way, it begins to sound borderline insane.)

How can you go around saying "I'm YUI's no. 1 fan" or "I'm madly in love with YUI" and then the minute she slightly changes her appearance start flaming her like crazy and saying things like it doesn't suit her or it's horrible? If you fall out of 'love' (that is, if you ever WERE truly in love) with YUI or stop being her fan because she cuts her hair a tiny bit, it shows that you are a fickle and shallow person and you don't even deserve to call yourself a YUI fan in the first place.

You shouldn't go off the person you love just because they change. If you truly loved them, you'd accept them for who they were and go on loving them no matter what. This just proves that all the idiot guys going "I'm so in love with YUI I'd die for her" all over the forum only liked her for her looks and not for who she actually is.

And you get stuck into reading 43-chapter fanfiction when the clock is ticking and more of your revision time is seeping away, because you're trying to block the thought of standing in front of your French teacher and reciting a speech you really don't like while she marks your every word and you're sweating buckets and trying to stop your hands from shaking?

That's me, kids.

This mood hit me harder than usual this time round because I have no creative writing to concentrate on. Having something like that to pour empty thoughts into does help. But at the moment, I don't have that. So I'm kind of marooned in a pattern of revise, internet, eat, revise, internet, sleep. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah. This was a kind of whiny journal entry and if you've managed to stick with it all the way to this sentence, you iz be awesome and Emi-chan loves you in a friendly way I will listen to everyone else's whining in compensation.

Tomorrow (April 28th) I am voluntarily relinquishing my MacBook to the safekeeping of my parents. Voluntarily.

What I'm going to do is ask them NOT to let me have it during the week and only for a set time on weekends, for the next month or so until exams are over. To be honest, I can't study with it sitting next to me and dealing with 24/7 temptation and distraction is just too hard. So until the exams are no more than a bad memory, bye-bye unlimited Mac time

This means I can't reply to or read anyone's posts until this weekend. So please don't get offended - I really need to put in some revision time here. It's important.

First-off: People who think that it is fun to sit around doing nothing, or to wander vacuously through London are wrong. There's nothing to gloat about there. Really.

My day started somewhere between 8 and 9 a.m. with me lazing in bed listening to the radio. and I didn't have to meet my dad at his office until 11:00 since he was going out to breakfast with 2 of his personal friends from Germany.

(Apparently I have an invitation from these 2, who are married, to go to Hamburg for a while over the summer and stay with their family of 4 boys. To ' practice my German '. So I'm gonna do that in addition to spending a while in France - Paris and then Limoges - where my dad's FRENCH friend has invited me to go. Maybe I'll turn up back at school in September trilingual I can dream, can't I?)

*ahem* So then we went to his office and learned what a corporate lawyer does, kind of getting sidetracked a bit (Grace-chan, you know what I'm referring to ) We then went out to lunch in a superb Indian restaurant, and I stuffed myself so much that it's now 6:08 p.m. and I'm still feeling full. After walking around a bit in the area, we returned to the office and got introduced to different colleagues. At around 2:00 the two of us left and went to go climb up the 311 stairs of the Monument of the Great Fire of London (here are pictures: [link] [link]) It had an amazing view.

Overall, I think we had a very interesting day and I'm really glad I got to go. (Though I won't be doing corporate law as a career )

P.S. As a follow-up from last journal entry, my ice skating exam marks were, out of ten, 8.0 (Compulsory Dance) and 8.7 (Field Moves). Considering I was retching with nerves just before I had to go on the ice, I think I did well

At least it's my birthday today. My mum and little sister made an amazing cake for me. What they did was steal my iPod and produce a massive cake version of it, complete with names of songs written on the 'screen' in edible pen. I'll bring in a photo, or post one, or something

I also think it's really funny how they put it on random shuffle or something to get names of some songs, and this is what they got: Six songs. 5/6 songs were by YUI, and the one remaining song was 'I Must Be Emo'. I had to explain at the breakfast table that the latter was a joke, and not something weird. xD

I shall turn *my new age censored because we are on the internet* at 2:22 a.m. tomorrow (9:22 p.m. in New York, where I was born).

You know, seeing how early I have to get up to go to the ice rink, I might just wake up at 2:21, wait for the clock to declare me one year older, and then GO TO THE ICE RINK FOR MY EXAM ;;;;;;;

Well, nothing important happened lately. So it's not my fault.

Let's see......On the 26th it was YUI's birthday. And she is now 22. So happy birthday YUI-san *squee* ^o^ ...and I'm so excited that her new single, "Again", will be released on April 22nd - 3 days after MY birthday! I discovered the preview on YouTube this morning and it sounds amazing. (As usual). It's the opening theme for the new series of Full Metal Alchemist [link]

And then, on Monday I came back from the Battlefields trip. I'm still not really sure whether we spent most of our time in France, Belgium, Germany, Canada.........wherever. @_@ And I think I've had enough Skittles to last me several lifetimes (my teeth felt really unhealthy and sugar-coated afterwards....)

And then, today, I had a maths tutoring session (more like an algebra clinic for total idiots such as myself) with my brother's maths teacher. He has this really weird thing about his two Biros. One is red, one is black and he holds the red one in his right hand and the black one in his left, then corrects work/writes stuff with the red one and underlines it using the side of the black one to rule a line with the red one. Don't ask.

I miss everyone WHY ARE YOU ALL OUT OF THE COUNTRY???

I'm actually crying! It's saying something, since I never get emotional over films and anime, etc. - just over real things. But Taiyou no Uta (Song of the sun) is one of those films where you just have to cry at the end.

It's so strange. I was fine through most of the movie but in the final 6 minutes, at the very end, part 14/14, I broke down in tears.

So, yeah, this is something I would really recommend watching. I first heard about it because the lead actress is YUI, my current favourite singer. She is very awesome and her voice is amazing (^_^).

Well, my only reason for posting this was kinda to do some whining and some happy narration of the weekend.

My dad's friend, his wife + 12-yr-old daughter are here from Boston for the weekend (specifically Martin Luther King day, when they visit every year). Said 12-yr-old seems to consider me VERY sad, VERY otaku and VERY out-of-touch. In a friendly way, though. She asked me: "Do you know what Wikipedia is?" and asked if I knew what a bunch of other completely obvious pop-culture stuff was. She also asked me if I knew what a "Segway" was.

VERY dangerous question. xDDDDDDDDDDD

Anyway, at lunch today I was fiddling with a metal bottle top from my sparkling water bottle. You know those metal tops that have sort of 'flap'-type things that kinda get folded down when the bottle is sealed? Well, being completely OCD, I was folding them all down in a specific pattern when I pressed too hard, sort of dropped-and-caught the top, and ended up scraping a cut down my thumb. Which HURT. And impaired my use of an iPod. *sniff*

Finally, DOES ANYONE IN MY CLASS UNDERSTAND THE WEIRD-AS-HELL STUPID BIOLOGY HOMEWORK??????

The situation is this. Yesterday, I got a gorgeous new MacBook which I am using right now. *starts drooling* But after spending 3 hours trying to make the wireless work, we tried to set up a network with the other computer in our house. Which didn't work due to *cough* MICROSOFT I'M LOOKING AT YOU.

So my poor dad spent 2 hours on the phone to BT in India after the laptop (which was still not working) knocked the computer off the wireless system. Stressful doesn't even begin to describe the torture the last few hours have been for everyone involved with the wretched connection.

But I am currently in the London Apple store waiting for my drop-in course to start, and a guy at the store let me connect to the Apple Wi-Fi network or whatever they have working here. So now I'm on!

Alright, now I think I have the right to spaz a little bit. Firstly, YES there is snow. Yay! xD

So far I am having a lot of fun. The city is amazing and we are seeing a lot of beautiful places (yesterday we went to the St. Peter and Paul fortress and saw the chapel). The food is surprisingly nice, but maybe that's because we've been eating in restaurants every night where we've been specially booked in.

I have recently discovered the awesomeness that is J-Pop. Hamasaki Ayumi and Utada Hikaru are especially good (I downloaded several songs off iTunes and can't get them out of my head.) In my own words to ~mathematicprincess, 'I'm cool now. I listen to J-Pop'. ^_^

Name: My name means "hardworking". My middle name means a load of sweet stuff like "graceful, beautiful, gentle..." I don't even know.
Body: I'm fairly tall....that's about it.
Hair: It's cropped very very short. VERY. Zac *insert swear word* Efron has longer hair than me.
Eyes: Brown, green-flecked with navy rims.
Ethnicity: I was born in New York and moved to London when I was six, and I'm half-Irish.
Temperament: I try unsuccessfully to be tactful and patient, but I can lose my temper and fly completely off the handle if provoked.
Special skills: My strong areas are creative writing and languages (in school, that is.) Otherwise, I'm fairly decent at ice skating and flute. I suck at piano. (That is not an opinion. Alright. Firstly, the finale was brilliantly done. The emotion displayed by the characters was shown in a realistic, touching and throughly in-character way. Well done, scriptwriters. (I especially liked the Maya/Misty situation and also the way Pearl coped with the mega-tragedy Case 5 storyline.) So thumbs up for that part.

Next. (I have to warn you, this paragraph will be about shipping......so run now, while there's still time....^_^) I am too smart to be fooled by the finale. It was a blatantly obvious PAIR-OFF of all the main characters. I counted 1 definite canon ship, 3 HEAVILY implied canon ships and 1 crackship which got a lot of attention. The only character not paired off was Maya. That said, I'm not complaining, since my own ship came though pretty well......xD

To conclude, the trilogy is the most awesome 3 DS games I've ever played, and I hope the 2nd story arc (Apollo Justice) and the yet-to-come Gyakuten Kenji (a.k.a. Ace Prosecutor) are as good.

VERDICT: Amazingly spaz-inducing.

Yeah. This time, I can't seem to stop (accidentally) using the word "perfect" or a derivation from such, about a hundred times per minute. (Completely NOT MY FAULT.) I freaked out my brother, not for the first time. Basically, we got on the wrong bus, so I said sarcastically "Oh, that's just PERFECT". When we got off and sprinted back to the bus station, there was a bus just pulling in so without thinking, I went "Ah! Perfect! There's a bus, quick!" then, as soon as we sat down, I breathed out and said "Perfect. Now I can play my DS in peace". I REALLY didn't mean to! (BTW, in the background right now, there's a history program playing on my TV about India and I can frequently hear the word 'karma'. Coincidence?)

See, kids, this is what you become after being glued to your DS for several days and nights.

The other funny thing this week was: I tricked my idiot brother into calling me 'nee-sama' (that was a laugh).

Problem 1: My parents. They resist all my appeals to get the second computer in my house up and running again so that I can write fanfiction on it. Added to this is the frustration of the fact that my mum forgets to order Ace Attorney 1 and 3 for me about 2 seconds after each time I ask her. THEN she complains at me and goes "WHY are you so sulky, Emily?????" My temper is turning into a time-bomb. And it's ticking.

Problem 2: ME. My stupid brain is torturing me with the pain of not being able to put a REALLY important fanfiction into words, and not having that oh-so-precious *begins to drool* DS game. My current attempt to fill this gap in my life is reading piles of courtroom and crime fiction from the library. (Latest one: "Judge and Jury" by James Patterson. At least it's good.) And I miss my friends T_T

So, any attempt to cheer me up and restore me to my non-emo self would be very welcome.

God, I am so annoyed with a lot of things right now. The worst thing being that I seem to be becoming a Mikami clone and getting a craving for perfect order and behaviour from everybody around me. Scary.

The girls in my school are so bitchy sometimes. Apparently, a girl in our class announced that she ranked herself '3rd Prettiest' yesterday. So I come into the locker room this morning to find a further three members of my class going alphabetically through the register and discussing how pretty each pupil is. Basically, I mentally flipped. I felt like yelling and screaming 'WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!?!?! SINCE WHEN DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRITICISE OTHER PEOPLES' APPEARANCES???!!!' and smashing them in the face. Good thing I can control myself when it matters. But seriously, how nasty can you get? Is this 'normal' behaviour now or something?

And another thing. The prize-giving day tomorrow is so retarded and pointless. It's just another way for the arrogant teachers to show off the pupils' achievements. I don't know why the hell they can't just send my prize in the post or something. (I have nothing to wear tomorrow T_T)

I have to say the high point of the trip for me was probably a) Taking a picture of a sign which said Perfekt in German XDD and b) Trying to teach a German 5-year-old how to say 'hic haec hoc' which he translated as 'hex hax hox'. I also tried to get him to say 'Mistigriff' and 'Spangelfeckel' which he failed at doing.

But I LOVE FREAKING GERMANY!!!!! I have stuffed my face with massive amounts of ice cream, spatzle and other native delicacies including chocolate and pancakes.

The only bad bit was missing the London Expo, but I didn't remember until 5 minutes ago when i logged on and saw my friends' journals. I guess it's back to London for me, back to exam revision and crappy weather. Yay.

I'm sitting here speaking to you all in a state of supreme post-haircut nirvana. Finally, a *JAPANESE* hairdresser who actually understands how to cut my freaking hair properly. All the other *NON-JAPANESE* people who have cut my hair have all cut it WAAAAY too long. (No, this is not racism in any shape or form......) So yeah, today in Drama Club we did the first rehearsal of our adaptation of Death Note for the stage (Me = Kira = Yagami Light = LIIIIIIGHT-KUN!!!!!!) I had to sit at a desk for 1/2 an hour pretending to talk to a non-existent Shinigami. And endure the combined...erm.....ATTENTIONS of my fellow students playing Misa, Takada Kiyomi (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, ~Hakus-Love) and most disturbingly, my friend Lucie who's Mello. MELLO. FLIPPING MELLO!

OK, firstly, WHAT A LOAD OF KATAANGER SH*T CALLING ITSELF THE AVATAR SEASON THREE FINALE!!! The creators are dead to me. They have absolutely no right to release a book of spoilers, even if they do have a right to make *grimace* KATAANG *pukes* happen. Over the summer, I will be writing an alternative ending which of course includes Zutara. So look out for that.

Secondly, if anyone knows any good manga titles, please reccomend them to me. So far, my to-read list includes: Appare Jipangu (WATASE!!!!!!) Naruto, Bleach, Haru-Sari. I finished Death Note and I am nearly done with Alice 19th. (What else was I supposed to DO in my computer art-history lessons???)

Thirdly, tomorrow will be the day my dream finally comes true: My cousin is coming over from America and she's bringing me Ace Attorney 1 and 3. (I am going to need help calming down when a certain PROSECUTOR appears on the screen in Episode 4 of AA1 *think 'lederhosen' and you will know what I mean XD*) Get ready for a massive spaz session coming this way soon.

Just to let you all know how much I am suffering here: this is the first time I have actually been allowed on the computer since my last journal *goes super deformed and death glares family*. Have mercy.

Oh, yeah. It's my friend in New York's birthday today, so I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY (for like the 100th time) and I am totally jealous that your birthday is 13 days before mine. Yes, that's right. 13 DAYS TILL ACE ATTORNEY 3, PEOPLE! w00t!

On the manga side of things, I now officially like Death Note, I have started reading Imadoki and Ayashi no Ceres (WATASE YOU PWN ALL *spazzes over awesomeness*) and managed to get halfway through Tokyo Mew Mew volume 2 IN FRENCH (lent to me by my exchange's mum) which I think is quite an achievement. I don't know if this is manga, but I've started trying to replay all 4 Ace Attorney 2 cases without losing ANY life whatsoever. Not easy. (I've done 3/4 cases so far.)

A few days ago, I went to the library and managed to completely humiliate myself as follows: I wandered through the main hall dreaming about manga on my way to the bathroom. I was so immersed in my contemplation of 'Whether They Will Have Fushigi Yugi 10 Or Not' that I took the wrong door and accidently walked into one of the librarians offices which are forbidden, startling two people who were sitting at a desk in there. I felt about as retarded as Tomo.

I swear I'm the only one of my friends who doesn't go 'I hate my life' or 'I feel emo' at least once a day. Even though we all sit through the same boring-as-hell lessons. It gets quite scary to be surrounded by Sasuke imitators sometimes XD

Sorry for no recent uploads, but I seem to have lost my writing talent (Inner voice: WHAT writing talent???) and there is literally no time in the day to draw. I am going to make a comeback though, so please watch this space......

Oh yes ^_^ I have a new catchphrase: 'Watashi wa.......' I learned it after watching some more Fushigi Yugi. I means 'I am.....' in Japanese. Now I use it for everything, even stuff like: 'Watashi wa bored' or 'Watashi wa angry at my English teacher'. So if I say 'watashi wa.....' in the future, you know what I'm talking about.

We recently started Philosophy in RS, and even got textbooks! I have to say that I am really beginning to enjoy my new-found argument skills. Seriously, you can use it to prove ANYTHING. I mean anything. I'm even writing an essay on 'How I Can Prove That Watase Yuu is God'. And it makes total sense!

11:00 pm: (seven minutes ago) I just read on a fansite that Watase Yuu was asked at a comic con "Did Nakago love Soi?" Guess what her answer was:

Anyway, I am going to share a nutty experience with you all: I got the Chinese characters for Fire and Water tattooed on my arm at a recent Christmas fair. (Well, not permanent tattoos, obviously, but those little transfers you can apply with water.) So now I have the symbol of my love of Zutara on my arm for all to see.
