But lets talk about something more fun. A week ago, before I became sick, I journeyed to Norfolk to see Thrice and Crime in Stereo. The journey itself was interesting. The route we had planned was blocked by flood waters, so we got lost in Norfolk. Eventually we found out way to the Norva. We were late, and Crime in Stereo was on. They played a short set, which could have been better. Thrice came on, and they kicked ass. Their sound live is amazing, despite the many tones of music they play. Oh, and Brand New was a consolation prize. I didn't think getting crushed to see them was worth it, so I back out of the "shit is going down" section of the venue. Now I want to see Thrice headline.

Next concert is Rise Against on Dec. 4th. Hopefully I'll be better by then.

Don't know what a nor'easter is? ...look it up...or move to the east coast.

Anyways, the past couple of days the Hampton Roads area has been POUNDED with a very powerful nor'easter. It was spawned up from the remnants of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ida.

The storm has wreaked havoc to the entire area. Down towards Nags Head, the beaches there have practically eroded away. Which has led to damage to houses along the coast. Even instances where entire houses have floated away. Farther north, Virginia Beach took a hard hit. The beach there has washed over, and roads everywhere have flooded.

In Norfolk, where I am supposed to be seeing Brand New with Thrice and Crime in Stereo Friday night, many on-ramps leading into the city have been closed. There has been widespread tidal flooding in addition to the flooding from the rain. Norfolk has also received the full force of the winds which have came from this storm, gusting up to 70mph!

Where I live, York County, the effects from flooding have been less, but no less potent. The winds at about 5pm Thursday were so terrible, I was worried that a tree would fall on my house at any point. Due to the weather, school has been closed Thursday and Friday. Our hillbilly neighbors to the north of us in Poquoson received probably the worst of the tidal flooding throughout Hampton Roads. Flood levels in some places reaching over 7 1/2 feet!

I'm very lucky, over 150,000 people have lost power in Hampton Roads, and fortunately, I am not one of them. If I go to my window now, the wind is still howling, and the rain is still coming down. This has been going on for the past 2 days. And in case you're worried, I'm actually in an area that is relatively safe from any kind of flooding.

This year in art, my teacher is challenging us by forcing us to do a concentration, or 10 different artworks that each revolve around a central theme. We will use this theme all year. After a recent bought of nostalgia, the theme I have chosen will be the Guardians of Ga'Hoole book series. (One of the few book series that I actually enjoy.) So in other words, I get to draw owls all year. (Yay?)

Since I always seem to be talking about it, I'm going to talk about music now. A little over a week ago (October 21st) I went with =burnettekd to see The Gaslight Anthem in Richmond. They were fucking brilliant. =burnettekd will tell you I danced, a lot. Until, during the encore, out of the blue, some girl stage dived. (I had to catch her.) Then the dancing and jumping turned into moshing and jumping. But it lots of fun. One of the openers, The Loved Ones, were really good too.

So, not this Friday, but the Friday after that (November 13th), my brother, and I are heading to the NorVA to see Thrice and Crime in Stereo. Oh, and Brand New is headlining, but to tell you the truth, I couldn't get behind them, so yeah, THRICE!

And! Since I always have to bring up future concerts I'm going to. Rise Against, which should be the highlight of my fall concert series is happening December 4th. And now I'm going to a new show with my brother (He insisted that I go.), which is Thursday, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Fake Problems, and Endless Hallway. I think I figured out that he mainly wants to DEP, but Thursday is a welcome bonus.

And my Halloween was boring. I played guitar on the porch and told the little shits to take their candy.

Ok, so lately my music intrests have expanded like crazy. I think I've discovered and fell in love with 10 different bands in the past 3 days. This comes after I received Polar Bear Club's brilliant new album, "Chasing Hamburg." With the album I ordered a t-shirt and a poster with the album cover. But a ended also getting Bridge 9's Summer Compilation ablum, "Give 'em the Boot VII" from Hellcat Records, a poster for Bridge 9's tour, 2 Ruiner stickers, and 3 sets of PETA2 stickers. (LOL at that last one.) What I think happened was that Bridge 9 sent me extra stuff, because they were really late shipping it out.

Oh and here's a little something that I'm excited about: RISE AGAINST IS COMING TO RICHMOND! Just when I thought they would never come to Virginia. I need to get my tickets quick, because this event will sell out.

Lately I've been annoyed by something. Blink-182 is coming to Virginia Beach tomorrow night, and it's all people are talking about. Blink is shit. Their lyrics are so uninspired and are delivered so badly that...ugh. There is absolutely nothing special about them, and yet people are treating them as if they actually have skill. Oh and UMG, fuck you.

My mood is not sunny. It's many different things, happy, annoyed, and yeah.

I've also found myself in the middle of a campaign to save a roller coaster at my hometown theme park from being retired. Busch Gardens wants to remove the suspended roller coaster, The Big Bad Wolf, from the park for good. Their reason being that it has reached the end of it's "service life". When the truth is that it costs too much to maintain it, and it has become a burden upon the park. Luckily, they have guaranteed that something will replace it. We just don't know what. Big Bad closes Labor Day, and I'll be there.

In concert news: Thrice, Brand New, and Crime in Stereo have announced they will tour together in November. And one of their stops is the NorVA not too far from where I live in Norfolk, VA. Thank god it's on a Friday. Which means I don't have to worry about school getting in the way.

Speaking of school. It's getting closer, and I still readings...and outlines...fuck.

The adventure started with the traffic getting in. We (My brother and I) sat in a line for 15-20 min. just to get in the parking lot. And then we had to get in a line to get in the venue. (Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater) Then, apparently we had to wait for the gates to open to get into the huge area where the stages and tents are set up. It was supposed to open at 11am, but it was held off until 11:30am, because one of the band's trailers on the back of their tour bus came unhitched on the road and it tumbled off the road. That caused a big back up of people at the gate.

Once we were finally in, Anti-Flag was already playing on the main stage, but we skipped them and headed over to the Hurley stage to catch Bayside. These guys are pretty good, their sound was pretty typical, but they played nice energetic set. Somehow the mosh pit managed to get from one side of the crowd to our side, putting me on the wall for most of the set. After them I hooked up with one of my friends and we stayed at the same stage to catch Saosin. Another good set, but found myself on the wall once again.

Then came one of the best acts of the day, Gallows. During 90% of the set, their lead singer is literally in the pit. He creates a stage in the crowd, in hot ass weather, with hardcore dancers and moshers all around him, and still manages to pull off kickass vocals. At a point during the set he spoke the truth about all the shit that Warped Tour is attracting. He attacked groups like Brokencyde, Millionares, and Jeffere Star. (Truthfully, all of them really do suck.) The most kick ass moment came when he asked for a circle pit, and seeing all these people running around the lead was awesome. He also ordered a wall of death too. And if you turned around (Because I was in the very front facing the singer who was on the other side of me in the pit.) you could see the rest of the band was still going crazy, even without him. Gallows is amazing live, a must see.

I broke off from my brother and headed with my friend to the main stage to see Less Than Jake, a ska band. Their fans are crazy, a think I saw a wig on the ground and a glass bottle went flying at some point (I don't know how that got in.) There was lots of skanking (look it up.) going on. I became involved in a HUGE circle pit they had going around the soundboard to top a fued they had going on with All Time Low about who could make the biggest circle pit. (Less Than Jake won.) We left in the middle of their performance to grab a bite to eat and catch the end of Senses Fail.

We walked around for a while, unable to get a good spot for A Day to Remember. Lots of t-shirts at various tents managed to use the word fuck. After my friend got his t-shirt signed by Senses Fail, we walked over to main stage to get in a good spot for The Bouncing Souls. These guys put on a good show. And being up front had it's perks. The singer jumped on the barrier a lot and I found myself standing under him at one point. Not as much bouncing as I had hoped for, but there was plenty of pushing.

As the day winded down I ditched my friend for my brother again and chilled in the amphitheater to see Westbound Train. These ska guys make some great music, and deserve a little more exposure than what they have. Right after them was Forever the Sickest Kids who I really didn't care for. (Way too many scene kids around that part.) Then came probably my favorite show of the day (behind Gallows.), Streetlight Manifesto. Their vocalist surprised me when he came out with a sling around his arm, but that didn't stop him. Brilliant show from these guys, there were lots of people who wouldn't stop dancing/skanking/moshing. I finally grew a pair and jumped in the pit and had a blast. At the end of their set the crowd kept chanting "one more song!", but unfortunately, they did not deliver.

Warped Tour was surprisingly awesome. If you manage to avoid all the crap on tour, then you can have a great time. Don't forget to drink shitloads of water (even it costs you $5), then throw your bottle into a crowd when you're done.

It is now 3:32am and I am going to bed.

I'm leaving town tomorrow (Later today) for my grandma's in Pennsylvania. I'll be there through July 4th. Her house is boring as shit, I kid you not. So I need to pack something interesting to keep me entertained. (I'll probably just end up drawing a lot.)

BUT! Once I'm away from that place I'll head down to Hershey, PA and visit Hersheypark and all the awesome stuff that they have there. Then, I'll take a visit to the small-town park that has a huge impact in the enthusiast world, Knoebels! Yes, expect pictures.

Before I look ahead at my summer, I'm going to look back to these two past Sundays. Busch Gardens held concerts on those Sundays and both were fairly awesome. The acts were christian rock, and they included, Sanctus Real, Stellar Kart, MercyMe, Revive, NEEDTOBREATHE, and Third Day. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't familiar with any of these bands before the concerts, but I still had lots of fun.

~Bad news: I still have lots of work. Mainly Chemistry. My teacher is under the impression that SOLs are deathly hard. (Which they are not. I passed advanced on the two practice SOLs she gave.)
~What does that mean?: It means I'm slow on [out of school] art. I might post some of my works I've been making for school if I ever remember to bring some of it home.(And some is too big to scan, unfortunately.)
~I'm accepting the fact that I was meant to be tortured by the girl who sits next to me in art. I might just survive.

2:21pm, April 3rd: I'm just now leaving. Don't expect anything exciting until tomorrow evening. We have to get to Florida first.

12:32 am April 4th: I made it Georgia after hours of driving. I'm staying here overnight, and then in the morning I'm heading out to Tampa and Busch Gardens. Expect the next update tomorrow night.

11:31pm April 4th: Busch Gardens was great, but not all was good. We were cheated out of our preferred parking. (They claimed it was full.) The rides were great, especially Montu. The park was a little dirty, but I can handle that. One thing I noticed though, was the type of crowd the park attracted, and the biggest factor that contributed to that, location. Busch Gardens Tampa is now very far from the actually city of Tampa, so all the people who live there, including the suspicious people, flock to the park. Meanwhile, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is much farther away from the city, so it is more likely to attract bad types.

Tomorrow is going to be Adventure Island, and then Busch again later in the day.

11:28pm April 5th: Adventure Island wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Too many kids, and towards the end of the day my feet were in enough pain to make walking around unenjoyable.

Montu in the back is intense as hell. definitely my favorite coaster in the park. And one of my favorite coasters of all. (It's in my top 10.)

On the subject of Spring Break, my trip this year should consist of Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Busch Gardens Tampa, SeaWorld Orlando, Hard Rock Hotel, Adventure Island, and Aquatica. Also expect a HUGE trip report from that vacation.

AND! Since I'm on the subject of theme park trips, I'm going to mention the trip I'm taking this summer to two parks that I have never been to. Hershypark and Knoebels. Hershypark should help get my credit count up and provide me with plenty awesome rides, and Knoebels I've heard is probably one of the best parks that an enthusiast could visit. (Not mention Phoenix.) AGAIN expect a trip report.

I was considering Virginia Tech, but not anymore. After a visit to the guidance counselor. I might be more heavily considering going to VCU. And guess why I'd probably be going there, for ART. Graphic art to be more exact. (It's clearly in higher demand.) After a graphic arts class my Junior year, and maybe convincing my parents I need photoshop, I might pursue more digital-related arts.

I going to navigate away from Sonic characters for a little while and concentrate more on other characters. Art is also going to be slow since I need to read a book for English which will cut into art time.

What you people try to pass off as art is mind boggling. Now, I'm not attacking people who actually post original content, you people are ok as long as you don't take it too far. Your shit is uncreative and its ripping another person's work.

But what I think is so stupid that its hilarious...people scanning the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics and thinking they can post it on dA claiming as their own...wow. First off, the main penciler for the comic has an account HERE ON DA. (here: ~Yardley ) So do most of the other pencilers. ( *herms85 *RenaeDeLiz & probably others.) And the writer even has an account here. ( ~ianpotto ) If you post comic scans, you are stealing from the writer and if you're posting full issue scans, you are breaking the law! I have exams next week. Which adds on to a recent wave of shitloads of homework, projects, and various tests. My AP Euro teacher is doing a great job of making his class miserable. At least after exams I have a 4 1/2 day weekend.

Concert Review!

October 18th (A long time ago.) I saw The Gaslight Anthem at the Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach. And I will tell you this, these guys are amazing! Everything was spot on, their vocals were perfect, they kept the crowd of drunks going crazy. I went crazy too. (I was a mere feet from them!) Despite the fact that is was a bar/restaurant sort of place, they managed to fit a lot of people in there.

In my Art class, there is this girl, she apparently "has the hots" for me. I'm a sophomore, she's a junior, and this is her first year at this school. She isn't exactly "my type." The only thing we have in common is that we like Sonic, but I can tell she is quite clueless since she thought Blaze was a boy. Her taste in music doesn't appeal to me either.
-Music. She likes Tokio Hotel, Tokio FUCKING Hotel. Punk rock, metal, classic rock, glam metal =/= whatever the hell Tokio Hotel is. I have listened to their music, and I hated it. Boys trying to be cool with crazy fucking hair and eyeliner.
-Moving on, it gets worse. She likes anime. Now normally I would just accept it, but I've ha enough. When is this whole anime/japan = jesus movement going to be over? It's the same damn style every fucking time. It's very unoriginal, and people use it as an excuse to being good at art. I don't get it, what's so great about it? Now when it's combined with anthro, or some other way of transforming it into something more original, I can deal with that. But all and, it's not original, it's a very flat style, it's a very overused style, and people are crazy about it.
-Now, I'm only analyzing interests here, but I can tell she is not the person for me. She jumped right into this thing, I only got to know her one day, and then the next she tells me, "I have the hots for you." She jumped right into this wayyyy too quick. If you know me, I like to easily transition into things, even if it's really slow. I'm sorry, but this just won't work out.

Everytime I go away, something crazy happens. Mainly in football. Three weeks ago, I went to JMU, and my high school just barely wins the game against an undefeated team. Now, my school, undefeated, tonight (Or last night.) fucking loses in third over time. 48-49. GAY. Not mention that it was the Homecoming game, and I'm here, 300 fucking miles away. NOT going to Homecoming with the rest of my friends.

American beer giant, Anheuser Busch is no more. I have no clue what may happen to the SeaWorld or Busch Gardens chains, but it is clearly not good. If Busch Gardens is sold and changed for the worse, that would be a huge hit to my life. My friends, family, and I treat it as our own little nearby "getaway". ~Alpenghost, we should plan to get in as many trips as we can before the 2008 season ends, we should start this Wednesday if your available.

My July is going to busy as hell. To kick it off, tomorrow I'm leaving for Pennsylvania and my grandma's place. But I'm also going to take a two day trip to Cedar Point.(Expect a hefty trip report and plenty of pictures.) When I get back, I get about a two week break then I get to go to the Outer Banks of NC for a vacation.(That will last a week.) I get a one day break. (The concert I was going to go to was on this day, but my friend had to cancel on me, so I'm not going.) Then I'm off to summer camp at Camp Powhatan at the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation. One of my best friends will be with me during this, his name is Jordan.(Yes ~Alpenghost that Jordan.) During which I will go whitewater rafting canoeing, climbing on a COPE course, and caving...and that's my July.

So if it seems that I'm not active for a long time, keep in mind, I'M NOT DEAD!

tl;dr: I'm going to pretty damn busy during July.

Now, the bad news. It's going to be really hot this weekend and next week...and making it really worse...I have no upstairs air conditioning. Thats where the computer is and where I sleep. And the air conditioning probably won't come back until tuesday. x.x
