If you haven't noticed, my time here on dA has scaled back to a tiny smidgen of what it once was.  But there is good reason!  For the past year and a half, I have been delving into the literary world.  I have been working tirelessly on my very first children's book!  It has been a total labor of love, and has taught me so much.  And at last, I am on the cusp of finishing it!

I just stopped by tonight to post one of my latest creations, and figured I would let you all in on a little secret:  I am currently working on a children's book!!

Yes, my lifelong dream is finally coming to fruition!  I am collaborating with a very, very dear and special friend... and together we are crafting a world of wonderful, enchanting animals!  There is a publisher waiting for our presentation in February... and as soon as I can, I will announce more here.

Steamcon, it's just around the corner!!  November 19-21st!

Here is the news in a nutshell!

STEAMCON! http://www.steam-con.com/  It's happening!  I was just approved to exhibit and sell artwork there!  Yay! I'm thrilled.  I so wanted to be a part of the inaugural Steampunk symposium, and now I shall be!  I will have at least one panel of wall space to hang artwork (though I may get two, not sure how much I'll be sending over), including my latest piece "Nightflight".

I'm not sure if I will actually be attending, or if I will just be sending over the artwork to hang (because that is an option), but rest assured you'll hear it here if I am going to be there!

I can't tell you how excited I am.  Just yesterday, I finished a year long epic art project that is almost ready to be shared with you and the world at large.  My part in it took a year, but the actual project has been percolating for three years total.  Very, very soon I will be able to share it with you - which means I will be able to unveil numerous works of art that have been tucked away, secret from prying eyes... until now.  It has been SO hard not to share them, and now I'm just busting at the seams for you to see them in this project.

February.  Such a love/hate relationship I have with this month.  On one hand, February brings the first meager stirrings of Spring with it.  Red-breasted Robins come back to flutter around the yard, pecking at the spots of ground exposed through lingering crusts of snow.  The wind ceases to have a razer sharp chill to it, and instead softens with the promise of warmth to come.  Lovely, right?  Well, on the other hand... The most enchanting thing is happening right now outside of my window!

The past few days have blanketed our sleepy little valley with snow.  Today, the sun is blazing in the bright blue sky - causing an already lovely seen to seem otherworldly beautiful.  BUT, that's not the most amazing part.

To anyone out there who has ever had a kidney stone - you now have my complete and utter sympathy.

Ah yes.  I had been feeling weird throughout Friday, and decided to go to bed early because of it.  However, little did I know as I sank into sleep, that in a few short hours (3:30 a.m. to be exact) I would be awakened by a monumental pain not unlike a power drill being held to by lower back while someone else played tug-of-war with my inner tenders.

When you get up at 4:30 a.m.... the world seems a bit off kilter.  Wobbly.  Freakish.  Yes, just plain weird.

So I get up at 4:30 a.m. to see my poor hubby out the door as he heads off to a business meeting in a city almost four hours away.  Once he leaves, it's just me and the dog standing in the kitchen, staring out into the pitch black darkness.  I swear I hear a rooster say "GET BACK IN BED, FOOL!"

But no. I get on the computer like any self-respecting digital geek would.  But I realized something today. Oh, heartbreak!!  I had just written an entire journal as an ode to my favorite time of year...Autumn.  And, like a goofus, I clicked on a wrong button and sent the writing off into Never Never Land, Never Never to return.

I'm back!!!

The trip to Victoria B.C. was legendary.  So much fun was had, that I have blisters on my toes, and sore sides from laughing nonstop.  Inspiration, motivation, all wrapped up in a sparkling bundle known as Angi from Duirwaigh Gallery ( http://www.duirwaighgallery.com/about_team.php?section=94 ).  It was TRULY, truly an honor to be invited there by her, and an unforgettable time was had by all. :D  I am floating from it still!

If I could step back away from my life, and look at my creativity on a big pie chart, or graph of some kind... I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that my year is usually divided into highs and lows of actual pure inspiration.

Now, don't get me wrong. I just finished reading :devzemotion:'s journal about the extensive ripping going on with her photography. It got me to thinking about something which I'm sure has already been answered in many other threads...but since I can't find them, I'm going to address it here.

I'm back back back!  The vacation to the Oregon Coast was fantastic, as always.  A bit of sun, a bit of rain - lots of relaxation...photography... good food...good fun.  We love it there so much.  Cannon Beach is always the best if you hit it before the heavy tourist season, and we just skidded in under the wire.

I took so many pictures.  Tons of new stock, and a few keepers for my photography page, one of which I already posted.  It's different for me... an abstract.  But I quite like how it turned out!

Just a quick question to those who are beta testing the Portfolios - have they always been incompatible with Firefox, or is it a new glitch?  I've been receiving emails from people visiting my actual website, saying they can't see my portfolio.  Come to find out, it's because they are using Firefox.

As of Sunday, I just finished up my latest tutorial for Advanced Photoshop Magazine! It will be in Issue 45, which is on sale in England on June 19th, 2008.  It generally takes a lot longer for it to reach the US, or other parts of the world... so, just keep an eye out for Issue 45!

So, one of my worst computer nightmares happened today.  Well, it happened over the past 24 hours actually... but this afternoon gave me a first hand glimpse into the horrid, dark world of Permanent File Deletion.

It all started yesterday when I had the very ambitious notion of doing some house cleaning on my computer.  I had a bunch of files I had not yet backed up (yeah, viva la procrastinacion), and a bunch of files I needed to delete.  The combination of the two meant I had almost 90% of my 200+ Gig computer crammed full, AND my external hard driv ]]>
