Once there was a was a young brother and teenage sister who stayed home alone because their parents were out of town. They were sitting around one night, bored, watching TV- when a news bulletin came on. It told the viewers that an escaped, mad, convict from the nearby high-security prison had escaped and authorities were searching for him and it was rumored he was hiding in the town borders. The siblings watched as the list of precautions came on, then went around the house, locking all the windows and doors, making sure no one would be able to get in. they turned on all the lights, then went down to their window-free cellar with a radio a couple of blankets and their pet german shepherd, bolting the door behind them. The boy was especially scared and had his dog lay under the cot, so he could let the dog lick his hand. After a while, they all fell asleep. the boy woke up a few times in the night- frightened, and would always reach down to be assured by his dog. A few hours of sleep and both kids woke up to the morning announcement that the killer had been apprehended after a long night. The kids sighed and the boy looked around for his dog that had licked his hand and kept him calm during the night. they couldn't find him, and so they began to walk up the stairs, and there, nailed to the door of the basement was the dog's severed head, and, scrawled in blood, was written
