Fritz Cozmo is the pen-name of a comic artist that lives in Ontario, Canada.
The name comes from Fritz Lang, the film director and Cozmo comes from a cosmetic company that he happened to see on a makeup case while using the toilet. Two things that do not really mix and are quite odd to put together.

Specializing in abstract and bizarre comic strips.

With the ability to make the reader puzzled as to what they have just read, and make them stare at the art for hours.

Extremely influenced by old comic strips, punk and dadaists.
Also quite obsessed with ugliness and how to make that ugliness shine in an odd way.

Ŧгเtz ς๏z๓๏
- - -

Yes. I am bored. I went to this fan expo thing in Toronto and looked at stuff yesterday. Standing on concrete for so long is a pain, it's like working. Next time that I go I will have my own table and dress up as a power ranger and beat up bad guys.

love,

Fritz Cozmo.

Well, I keep ignoring this feature on deviantart, the journal.

I figured I'd tell you what kinda stuff makes me want to draw. I want to also celebrate "669 Pageviews" because that is way too awesome not to celebrate.

Section one: Superheroes.

So, we start off as a wee little boy. I loved reading superhero comics, mainly daredevil.
Daredevil was bad ass, he was blind and kicked in your face. I don't read that much anymore. I loved all of those boring superheroes for some reason. I guess if anything, without those comics I wouldn't be drawing.

Section two: Classic Cartoons

Now who hasn't watched those amazing warner cartoons as a kid? I'm pretty sure that wackiness is in my art somewhere.

Section three: Punk Rock

I'm pretty sure the whole attitude and rawness of punk is just oozing in my art. When I listen to 77 punk and draw, it's just natural. I'm also very influenced by the punk movement of underground comics, even though there isn't much about them.

Section four: Rubber Hose Cartoons

Betty Boop and good ol' 1930s and earlier cartoons really inspire me. This could be classified as classic cartoons, but it deserves it's own section.

Section five: Newspaper Comics 1920 - 1940

Do I even have to explain how these could inspire a comic artist?

Section Six: Dada Art Movement

That shit is too crazy and makes absolutely no sense, it really inspired my early work. In a way that is truly what punk is.

------------------------

I doubt you'd read all that garbage, I wouldn't.

I'm gonna draw something for 669 pageviews just for kicks.

Have a nice week!

Love, Fritz.
