Anyhow, between the renewed sniveling I can barely wait for the weekend, as we are driving up to Birminham to see Dave Matthews in concert! All I have to figure out now is how to smuggle my camera and telephoto into the venue, because this is one event I will NOT miss. Back with the coldplay concert ([link]) security yanked me out of the queue and demanded I hand in my camera at the 'desk' after ticket check. I agreed, but merely walked past said desk without any problems. However, I'm not counting on that happening again, so I need to hide my camera; easier said than done though. Any ideas?

I hate being ill.

Very little compares to the helplessness and disgruntlement of a stuffy head, aching legs and back, sore throat and slime all over the place. What makes it worse is that nothing I do seems to make a difference! I'm loaded on paracetemol, phenylephrine, zinc, vitamins, caffeine, not to mention pity, but its all in vain; I could just as well have been chewing air for the difference it's made...

I've been spending a lot of time terrorising poor , but at least I'm not the only guilty party in the endeavour, as would be clearly visible on either of our accounts At least it's all innocent fun, except for a few moments I will once again refrain from mentioning in public...

If it wasn't for this stupid cold, life would have been good, but until I get it under control, I will be one very unhappy bunny

Five of my weird habits:
1. I cannot, cannot go to bed without reading something, even if it's 2 in the morning, I have a headache and I drank too much.

2. I always have a half-eaten tub of yoghurt in my fridge. This inevitably gets eaten, and is replaced with a full tub, which morphs into the half-eaten state within 3 hours of purchace.

3. I take random photographs of my flatmates, much to their annoyance. This may contribute to the reason why I move house so often

4. I drink coffee just before going to bed. I suspect I have a reversed reaction to caffeine; I distinctly remember falling asleep sitting upright after drinking a red-bull

5. I study strangers on the tube, and try to figure out who they are and what they do for a living. I look at their shoes, too.

12 Years Ago I was:
...Into rollerhockey and in love with the head girl-to-be of my primary school. Nothing came of it, probably due to the fact that a) nobody knew and b)I was number 132 in the queue

7 years ago I was:
...Blank space here... Probably due to major reconstruction in the personality department

2 years ago I was:
...Climbing any wall or cliff I could find, pretending to be worried about my final year project (which in retrospect I should have been, I almost failed it), not single, confused and loving it.

Yesterday I was:
...swimming 25 lengths in my newly joined gym, making spaghetti with corgettes, lemon zest, garlic and brie cheese - It was lovely, reading (as usual), watching Sky Captain, messing around with Photoshop.

5 Songs I Know All the Words To:
Lateralus - Tool
Karloos - Klopjag
Weak and Powerless - A Perfect Circle
Never going back again - Fleetwood Mac
Engel - Karen Zoid

5 Favourite Toys:
My baby 20D, I love you...
My new 70-200 lens
Any book worth reading twice
My credit card, hence the reason it's not in my wallet anymore
My powerball, why I do not know.

5 Fictional Characters I Would Date:
Charlotte in Lost in translation
Clementine in Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Clare in The time-traveler's wife, by Audrey Niffenegger
Beatrix Kiddo
...and the last one I'll leave open to suggestion...

Herewith ultimate proof of the domination that is Starbucks:

This happened to me today.

Telling a friend that you'll meet her at Starbucks across the Ritz Hotel, and realizing too late that there are TWO Starbuckses (Starbucksees?) across the Ritz. I counted them. I did NOT count the Starbucks NEXT to the Ritz, or the one two blocks BELOW the Ritz or the one further down the Road from the Ritz or the one a block ABOVE the Ritz. Those are only the ones I'm aware of, I'm sure at least a dozen more are waiting to pounce on me as I quietly make my way to the tube station on the other side of the Ritz. I'm prepared to bet that two months from now the Caviar house will go out of business and be replaced by yet another (you guessed it) Starbucks. What's next? Starbucks accomodation? That will be the end of the Ritz....

Just returned from South Africa after an extremely relaxing and fun holiday. I have to admit it was quite uneventful, but that's what you can expect from 'going home' I guess. Still, well worth it.

This also concludes my two month's silence on the Deviation front. I will be uploading a few things rom my past, as wel as one or two new shots that I like. Stay tuned.

Finally got round to getting the 70-200 f4 L lens, and yes, this puppy is fun to play with! Unfortunately our trip is not long-lasting, but I might try to delay my return flight for a day or two, and get the feel of Zurich. Otherwise I'll just have to be content with Arosa, where we are apparently heading.

I have to be out of my house by the end of the week, so fitting that in with the holiday preperations and christmas shopping is a bit daunting, never mind the fact that I'm not sure where I'm moving to All this doesn't help the fact that I have the festive blues, missing the beloved family and friends and the usual paranoid fears of the new year...
If all goes well (and I have no reason to believe that it shouldn't) I shall be starting my new job on Monday. Now, to fully appreciate what this means, one must know that for the last 6 months I spent in London, I was earning my money as a labourer and painter. Fair enough, but I need some intellectual stimulation! I'm not quite sure how I achieved this, but in some miraculous way I have been offered a six-month contract at Christie's London, a position that requires a suit and ensures no rubble under your fingernails. For the moment that is all that I desire, but I am confident that many more advantages will pop up! All that remains now is that I must be paid for the previous two months, and hopefully that happens soooon, otherwise my next journal might just be written from South Africa...

Made a quick trip to Edinburgh for a couple of days accompanied by a wonderful girl Did the tourist thing, sauntered around and had a generally wonderful time. Apart from that my life is pretty boring at the moment, usually spent on the sofa in an attempt to lose a very stubborn cough. Been fantasising about a studio shoot I would like to do (Something I have never done before), but for the moment I'm still trying the concept on for size, asking around for makeup artists and hairdresser-type friends, and trying to figure out how on earth I'm going to do the lighting.

All in all, a good moment in time. Life is good, the future is bright, so bright that it includes tall brunette! Why me? I dread to think, so I'll just enjoy my fortune while it lasts...
