Also, I discovered that my old laptop that has been faithfully helping me all these years just doesn't have the minimum requirements for Adobe any more. Well color me surprised! Fortunately, my company offers a program for buying hardware from Dell, so while it's a bit more than I hoped to spend, it does have a lot more computing power, ram and storage than I thought I could afford.

My biggest complaint with the Intuos 3 has been compatibility - in spite of frequently updating drivers, it still gets into fights with my OS and there are times when I find the level of sensitivity to vary from hour to hour - sometimes it's just right, but a lot of times it's not enough. And at least once a week, the thing fails completely, forcing me to re-install the driver - usually 2-3 times before the tablet will respond.

Here's the deal. When I draw something for sharing, I like to have some sort of finished tableau in mind, something that sort of explains what's going on. In other words, I want the image to have purpose rather than simply be some gratuitous scribble.

It would be nice if I had a jar or a grab-bag or something that I could reach into and it would say "You will draw _____" or maybe a couple that I'd have to combine such as "draw a _____" and "_______."

It's been a crazy month so far. Both the water heater and the refrigerator have failed. After much expensive work, the water heater was fixed, but the refrigerator has to be replaced. I saw Ironman 2 over the weekend. As sequels go, I'd put it somewhere between Back to the Future 2 and Star Trek 2. I cannot find fault with the action or Robert Downey Jr's acting. It just seemed that the bulk of the movie was just set up for the big finish at the end. Which would have been all right if the big finish wasn't over too soon. Overall, the movie lacked some of the "thinking" elements of the first movie. Black Widow was great, but the director might as well have put a big sign on her saying "I'm a secret agent" the minute she shows up. Still, I have hopes for Ironman 3.

I hope you folks had a nice and happy Easter. The rains have stopped and with luck the river will recede to its normal levels.

My intention was to wow folks at PaxEast with my new business card but (a) I couldn't find a printer who could deliver in time and (b) I still wasn't happy with the design. So I ended up creating a design that would hold up on my inkjet printer and printed off a few dozen on card stock. The cards looked fine but Pax was a bit of a let down. More on that at another time.

Some of you may not realize this but I have a weekly webcomic on my GAMECREATURE site (the link is below). It's officially updated every Monday, which means I'm secretly updating it on Sunday (generally whenever I get around to it). Why do I post the comics there instead of here?
