So I worked out a schedule whereby I update each of my comics on a regular basis - I think I mentioned this in my last post. We're starting out at every other week for Pimpette and Shenanigan (alternating), and once a month randomly for Pumbum. Not very ambitious, but, baby steps. It would help if I didn't have a fulltime job (ten hours per shift yey =/ ), but what can you do.

I'm considering starting to do some commissions - it'd be good practice for me to get into drawing regularly, as well as learning to draw some different things.
Wouldn't be too expensive; I don't plan on doing much more than quick one-character drawings, b&w/colour, maybe vague backgrounds.

Say $5 for any single character (B&W) with a simple background,
$10 for the same, but with colour.
Add $2 for each additional character stuck into the picture.

My portfolio and gallery could use some spicing up, and it would be fun. :3

Man I love conventions.
I never sell a lot of shit, but I always enjoy myself.

Went and found and - hilariously, sitting next to each other once again. Two birds with one stone much? XD Though Ryan's table was really Suzanne's table, but hey. Also ran into Zenny again. One of the best parts of conventions is running into random people all the time.
I should really socialize more - next year I'll try to get more sleep in advance (blargh jaw issues and work, keeping me up).

Did some little doodles and a couple of comics while sitting around; conventions always give me a renewed zest for drawing, and I've already got an update on Pimpette, plus one more for next week. Planned out a new update schedule with Keon, and this one isn't anywhere close to hard, I shouldn't have trouble sticking to it.

Anyway, I'll hop around posting the doodles I scribbled out while sitting around, plus the new Turkish print that I nearly sold out of.

Cheers, and can't wait until next year!

Three comics; man, I have a problem.

So far P&A has updated twice (today and New Year's Day), and Pumbum once (New Year's Day).
Pumbum's due for an update day after tomorrow so I'm going to try and sit down to finish it.

Convention season is just around the corner; I figure if I hop back into regular updates now, I can rebuild my meagre fanbase and maybe even meet one fan at a convention this year.
That would make my day.

I picked up a starter kit today for casting resin. Sculpey is awesome but it is ceramic(ish) and tends to chip easily... I was in Curry's today and decided to give the casting stuff a try. If nothing else, I have some fun and I'm out forty bucks. But if it turns out awesome then I've got easy-to-build models to churn out for conventions this year, ones that (hopefully) won't be quite so fragile.

Overall it went pretty well (by this I mean I am ignoring the fact that I spent a few hours Friday afternoon swearing at both the TTC and Tavis - poor guy (i love you don't kill me D: ) ).
Due to a handful of events, Keon didn't get his table space, but as he didn't have anything done I suppose it turned out okay.
I did make up a couple things for him in case he did get the table (some bookmarks, stickers, and free business cards). People loved the business cards, they vanished fast. I'll put the design up later.

Things that sold:
- toaster cat / thermos cat / teapot cat magnets and stickers
- Feed Me buttons
- Mr Grumples buttons (amazingly)
- Turkish stickers and magnets
- Buttercat posters

People loved the two My Little Pony ripoffs, but nobody bought any. Ah well.
I'm going to put up a bunch of the designs and stuff that I made on devArt over the next few days. I think most of it sold simply because I was selling stuff cheaper than most people in Artist Alley. Quite a few people commented on it - but hey, I didn't put as much effort into most of my stuff that other people had. If I'd made something totally awesome that had taken me hours and hours and hours to finish, then sure. But most of my stuff was just art I already had lying around, stuff that I'd scribbled for fun and that didn't take a longass time to make.
So whatever.
A few people liked the Pumbum minicomic. I didn't finish the P&A one I had started, unfortunately, but hey! for next time.

There's a con in Oshawa at the end of June. I haven't decided yet if I want to get a table there. We do have bills to pay, and I spend more on a con than I tend to make so far.

We'll see.

Anime North!
I'm so excited; I haven't had a table for years.

I've already gotten my buttons (thank you ModButtons, they are AWESOME), and I'm working on a host of other things.

Right at this very moment I have pages of the first Pumbum book sitting in front of me. Yes, I should be drawing Shenanigan, it's been forever since I started it and I just can't seem to finish it. But Pumbum is faster to draw, and the sooner I get all the drawing out of the way the better.
It's the digital stuff that takes forever.
I "ink" and colour Pumbum with vectors, so it's sort of time-consuming. Luckily Pumbum lives in a huge and rather empty sort of meadow, so there isn't much in the way of background to worry about.
Also, with vectors, copy and paste is a breeze.

Colouring and texting Shenanigan takes ages though, I don't look forward to having to redo the past eleven pages (thank you file corruption), and then having to move on and finish up the last six or eight... plus four extra-story pages, plus whatever the fuck else we planned for the book.

Ye gads.

Anyway, gotta get back to drawing. I have about twelve more pages of pumbum to scratch out and then I can move on to the rest of the Shenanigan pages.
I'm really rushing on the books, I want to have them done by the first week or so of April, to give me just enough time to send them to comixpress and have them shipped to me.
Hopefully.

Once the books are done and out of the way I can move on to the other stuff..
- prints
- bookmarks
- magnets
- figurines

Everything except figurines I can pretty much do in the last week before the con, so I'm not too worried.
I am stressing over the books though!
Wish me good luck and productivity, I'm gonna grind these out one way or another.

GODDAMMIT"
So I was grumpy but relieved.

During the meantime I found a neat crafts site that led me to a little tutorial on how to make a neat little booklet... which I did [ here ]. I'm in the midst of vectorizing it now, so that my scribbly lines will come out all nice and sharp and clear, hurrah.

Tutorial for making these found [ HERE ].
Hooray for stumbleupon, which led me to this. I'm going to print off a ton of these and sell em for a quarter or two each at the next con.
So yay.

Well so the other day I sat down at good ol' Redeye McFly and decided to get some backed-up colouring finished and out of the way.

FAT CHANCE

My tablet pen has gone missing. I've torn my room apart looking in all the usual areas: under the desk, in the closet (next to the desk), on top of the dishwasher in the kitchen (it usually ends up there if the phone rings while I'm holding it), and all sorts of other weird places.

I was going to clean the house anyway this week (birthday party on saturday WHOO), but looks like I'll have to pay specific attention to my room. I'm wondering if maybe it got tangled up in the clothes on the floor and is now floating around in the laundry bin somewhere. I'll have to look.

So I'll have to stick to painting until I find it.
I have a small army of tiny Turkishes building up. When these are finished (very soon... I really like this white clay, it's easier than making fifteen goddamn coats of white paint or whathaveyou), I'll post the whole group as one thing. These are going towards Anime North (and other conventions), along with the Buttercats and Pumbums.
I'm getting set so early, hooray.

So I've been bitching and moaning for the better part of a year that I wanted to get my commissions page done, and I kept not doing it.
Or I'd start, and then get muddled about what to do next... and then drop it for a few weeks. By the time I picked it up again I would decide to redo the whole thing.

I finally realized that I'm moving out in a monthish and really need any money I can get from this sort of thing, so I rushed it. XD
VOILA:
http://comms.laurelvision.com

So there.
I don't really expect to get much from it... but I just feel better having it up.
Now I can stop whining and get back to comics, right?

BOO on mail.
Just... BOO.
We sent in all our application crap to the Hobbystar people for the FanExpo. Had everything in order, all our stuff filled out properly, cheque addressed properly, etc etc etc.
About a month and a half goes by, no word. We're not worried too much, after talking to Ryan I was reminded of just how little warning they tend to give the people in Artist Alley (AA is just about the bottom of the ladder there, after all). I'm a paranoid freak though... worried a bit loudly so Tavis went and emailed them... long story short, we got the response "No, we don't even HAVE an application form with any of the information you've given us on it."

What.

What.

Okay then.
So much swearing and violence later, we have to tell everyone that we don't have a table after all. Joy.
SO.
This year we are getting one of those goddamn preregister forms on the Saturday and handing it in then. That's 90-something dollars I shouldn't spend at this time, but I am NOT doing this whole wtf-is-going-on shit again. Seriously.

On the art side of things.
It seems that every time I go on hiatus, I come back with noticeable improvements in artwork. My latest three pages of Shenanigan earned me some remarks along the lines of "you don't even need to colour this. It looks excellent the way it is."

So yeah. I am happy.
Pimpette updates are coming along more slowly - I'm very unhappy with myself for getting talked into this crossover. Half the reason I haven't been updating is because I underestimated just how much I HATE Zorro. I'm happy just drawing my main characters running amok doing stupid things, and keeping people like Zorro and Derek in the background being sneaky and mysterious.
Sigh.

Well it's all coming together soon. I have lots to do.

[~vespan]

Dexx]
I like looking at character concept pages, and I really like this robot. Especially in his sitting-down pose.
Composition is well done, and all the robot's poses make him look as friendly as he is supposed to be. The lineart is sort of rough and not typical-robot-smooth (if that makes sense to anyone but me), but it adds to his sense of realism.
And I love the baseball pose. I can just see him happily playing baseball with a bunch of kids.

[Saloon Composite]
Even without the brief animation (which I liked, the mist and sunshine were very pretty), I like this piece. You have an excellent sense of colour and lighting: your shadows are always well done and I FROTH AT THE MOUTH IN JEALOUSY.
*ahem*
The sky seems a bit odd to me, looks a bit too grainy to be sky, but otherwise I absolutely love this piece.

[Profile Chris]
I'm not quite sure why I like this one so much.
Very simple, nice pencilwork, quick and rough.
Again, not sure why I like it, but I do.

NEXT!
[palm-art]

[Plane Sunrise]
I love skies and I love sunsets and I love this.
Sharpness and composition are excellent. I like how I can see all the rivets on the plane's wing, it's neat. Your photography's damn good, keep it up!

[Springtime Bee]
Again, nice composition!
Excellent sharpness on this one, and the colours all came out so well.
Do you use a digital camera or a .. er... non-digital one? Just curious.
But yeah, I really like this one.

[Plants in a Bottle]
I like the colours in this one the most. Those particular blues and greens sit well together. Nice setup!

aaaaand NEXTO!
[Trustinangels]

[Nibbles 2005]
HE LOOKS SO FREAKED OUT. I love his little face. XD
Seriously though, good job on catching him holding still. Animals can be pretty evil when you get the camera out; they always want to move.

[Kitty]
Though it is simple and not as sketchy as I first thought, I really like the cat's expression in this. He looks very much as if he is commanding someone. Expressions can be damn difficult, especially with animals, but I think you pulled this off rather well.
Since his eyes are the darkest part of this piece, I was drawn to look at them first... whether you meant to do that or not, it does enhance the picture.

[Forever Silent]
This one is really neat.
And though I'm sure you didn't drag around and arrange the skeleton, its placement between the two trees offers an almost symmetrical composition; I like.
Very well balanced, nice sharpness. I think this is my favourite of all your works.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!
[Sasjhwa]

[Hunting Puppy]
Oh, your puppy has such soulful eyes.
You have a good sense of shade - I like the pointillism in the grass stalks behind him, it's a nice touch. Shadows and composition are well done... but what really makes this image striking (to me, anyway) is the expression in the pup's eyes. Well done.

[Elephant]
I'm not sure whether to run in terror at a charging elephant, or stand very still and hope it's merely tiptoeing in a curious manner.
Either way, well done. I like the combination of short strokes and points, it gives the elephant a very real texture.
And the leaves in front make me feel very much as if I am hiding from it, heh.

[Bald Eagle]
I had a tough time choosing between this one and the squirrel... but finally decided I really liked the penwork on the eagle's face.
I have a thing for eyes, I suppose, and this eagle has an almost compelling expression...

Been a while, eh?

Lots sort of happened.
I went to the Expo, had loads of fun with internet people and such. I moved (and my cat expanded by at least ten centimetres in width) and my computer blew up.. I'm still attempting to rescue the last bits of my second hard drive. And I started a few new projects.
One of these is a joint comic with DM Jeftinija of [LegoStarGalactica] - it will be launching sometime after New Year's, so you can hear more about it then.
Got a new portfolio on the go too - have to start over from scratch, as the only Flash version I had of my previous one got wiped with my hard drives. There may be a chance of recovering it, but at any rate, it was icky and half-assed and very last-minute, so I can take the time to make a new one.
Another very random and not-yet-planned out thing is a very tiny cutesy little comic I'll be putting together with a little help from Keon, the author of [Angry D. Monkey]. This may never end up online as anything more than a little extra add-on on my already existing Pimpette site - who knows. At the moment it's still new and we are still killing ourselves giggling over it.
We are calling it [PumBum].
Now I shall go again.

Yeah.
Anyone who might check on Pimpette every so often will have noticed my extended hiatus - something that's been happening a lot in the past year. Truth is, it's not writer's block (I have the comic plot written out past the next chapter), but artistic block. I can't seem to work up the motivation to draw anything properly - with a few spur-of-the-moment exceptions. It's even more annoying because I want to get back to work on the comic book, and I really wanted to finish it this month. But I can't seem to do anything.
And some bad news: looks like P&A won't be having a table at the Expo this year, although I will be there at least one of the three days, with a crowd of people no less. If anyone runs into me, I'll be carrying a bit of P&A stuff on me, plus a crapload of markers (in order to take advantage of any unguarded paper just begging to become webcomic advertisements). I realize I'm nowhere near popular enough to expect to run into any type of fans (though it happened once last year, I shall never forget Turkish Girl), but one can hope. Plus I'll be comic-swapping with anyone who has comics (that is, if I can move my ass quick enough to get this book done in time). So.

Well I'm off to try and force myself to draw for the rest of the day. I have comics to finish, commissioned artwork to draw, and possibly some figurines to take pictures of and try to sell on ebay. I'll post here if I do get those up - Turkish figurines were a hot item at the con last year and I expect I'll have fun selling them online too.
My three-year anniversary scribblecomic is going to be very short, but fun anyway. Ah, I remember the time when I updated three times a week, WITH colour. Someday I may do that again, when I get myself back on the ball.

Au revoir for now, let's hope the art improves.

Well!
Finished school - like, FINISHED finished. Forever.
I won't miss the homework, I can tell you that much. I like keeping busy, but... well. I dunno. I don't want to go into my homework explanation rant again, it goes on too long and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Suffice it to say I am glad to be rid of it.

The next few months will be spent working (as much as humanly possible - hot damn do I ever need the money..) and doing as much comic art as I can. Got the [CN Expo] coming up in September, and I don't want to fall into the same hole as last year. I was woefully unprepared, for the simple reason that I was lazy and put everything off till last minute. I've already got a small army of small [Turkish models], a bunch of prints on the computer (plus a lot left over from last year), a comic book in the works (planned to be completed and available online in mid-July), and a crapload of other small things for sale (and for free). It'll be a big event this year - sharing tables with a number of other webcomic artists, and partying it up with even more of them.

Aside from Pimpette work, I have a few other pieces of art in the making. Buttercats, Captain, and other random things. I expect my DevArt to fill up a bit over this summer. I'm always most creative when I don't have enough time to be so. Somehow my inspiration is born of panic and a lack of time. How odd.
That and "omg I'm bored at work."

I hope to pull out my paints and canvases again, too. I don't have any paintings up here (for good reason, they all suck), so I'm hoping to get one or two finished in the coming months. I owe one to Courtney, and that one's partially done (looks cool the way it is, really, I may post it in scraps). I'm not particularly good at painting, but I definitely enjoy it.

All right, I'm off. Thanks to those who comment and those who visit. Bye for now!

Well, the strike left a lot of us confused and woefully behind - especially those of us too lazy or anxious to try and cross the picket lines. I heard unpleasant stories from a university student or two and decided to stay away.
Although apparently students coming in on foot were able to get by no problem. It was just the cars the teachers decided not to like - everyone hear the story of the one guy who CLIMBED ONTO THE HOOD OF A CAR and then fell and cracked his head? Yeah, he died.
Stupid asshat. I feel sorry for the person whose car it was - how would you feel, if a teacher killed himself (however unintentionally) falling off your car while you're trying to go to class? They didn't press charges (GOOD > ) but still. Ouch.
I'm sorry - striking is one thing. Peacefully standing up for your rights/ideals/beliefs is fine - more people should do it (for good causes, dammit) - but when you start physically getting in the personal space of innocent bystanders and PAYING STUDENTS you have crossed a line and deserve what you pull down on yourself.

Er, I really didn't mean to rant. That just sort of fell out.

This semester's been moving along like my cat on a full stomach (in short bursts, and at a greatly reduced speed), but I am getting there. Less than three weeks left to get everything done, and then I'm off to... somewhere. I still need to find placement! I have no idea what I'm doing, searching around for someone to contact about a four-week-long placement (read: slave labour, joy). I'm not excited about it, but it might turn into a full-fledged job, so I'm hopeful.

I still think half my work is crap, but most of my illustration is good, and the Buttercats have people exploding with cuteness, so all should work out in the end.
Don't mind me... I've been a bundle of nerves all month and it's making me ramble like nothing else - just ask Matt. We've been talking bullcrap at each other for a good few solid weeks now and have the good sense not to listen to anything the other says.

Okay well I'm off to find food and then get back to work on my portfolio site. I'll post another journal entry when it's finished (or at least mostly so) so people can poke at it if they like.
Bye for now!

Autumn has come, and brought my must-resist-hibernation phase with it.
Once the snow falls and the insanity of Xmas rolls around I should wake up again, but fall always makes me feel like a creature readying for hibernation - all I want to do is sleep and eat. And I know I shouldn't.

So, work has been suffering lately. I shoved myself to get a comic and a half done today, and found it surprisingly easy (probably due to the fact that I was cameoing some characters from AoD's comic, and they're cute and simple to draw.
I've found myself opening up blanks in Photoshop and just drawing random things with my tablet (see Scraps section for these). Just quick little drawings, of orcs on fire and Pimpette sitting with a future love interest (*gasp*), so on and so forth. I've only posted the ones that came out good enough to display (though only good enough for Scraps, in my opinion).

Actual artwork though.. I haven't come up with anything great in a while, I don't think. Some interesting stuff, and plenty of ideas for good stuff, but this robot I made is the best thing to come from my hand in a while. And robots are relatively simple to draw, so long as you have a ruler.

Our teachers want us to be original, innovative, completely out of the box. I like boxes in my work though. It's not outrageously new or out-there. I'd better get a job working for some boring corporate people; save my occasional craziness for Pimpette and other works - and possible on-the-side freelance work. My designs aren't anything special, really. Just pretty and colourful and sometimes cartoony, because I can.
I'm a little worried about passing this semester; there are some pretty big projects looming on the horizon and I'm definitely nervous about them. Somehow I always manage to pull through, but I don't want to rely on that because I know that the one time I do, I'll fail. And I can't afford to fail any classes this semester - if I do, I can't go on to the next.
And that's bad, because it throws all our plans against the wall and smashes them to little splattery pieces. Not to mention my dad'll be pissed.

Wow I totally zoned out for a little while.
Think I'll go now, try and get some work done on my Director game. I really should work on my robot some more, but I've been staring at him all day and I just can't do it anymore.

Will probably be posting more weird little tablet scraps and stuff, but don't expect anything big for a while, unless I make some seriously cool stuff for Flash by accident.
Bye till next time!

Yep.
That's the first thing that floats to mind.

Argh. I have a Flash project due in two days (a small one, no huge worries... yet) and I have no idea what I'm doing. The coding, fine. No problem. The design... whatever. I don't care anymore.
The content... uhm, yeah. That's where I'm stuck. I imagine I'll be up late tonight trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing, and again tomorrow just to make sure I have everything done. Great start to my last year of college, eh? I promised myself I wouldn't do this, and here I am again.
Oh well.

I've been saying it for months now, but I really ought to set up my own store (outside of cafepress), for prints and extra things. Seeing my friend Ryan setting up his very own store on his website has reminded me how much I've wanted to set one up myself.
Those little Turkish figurines were popular enough at the convention that I think it might be worth it to try and sell them online. But for the online store I'd make some big ones too - at the convention I just had a collection of little Turkishes, about four bucks each. The big ones (see HERE) go for about ten to fifteen each. I'd like to set up a sort of request form, and make them on demand - that way each person gets a sort of personalized sculpture.
Eventually I will make some attempts at Speed and Frog and *gasp* even some of the human characters, but Turkish is by far the easiest (resembling a snake with a cat's head), and this is my first real foray into sculpting, so I'm taking it slow.

Also, I can't stop staring at today's comic. I was working on it as a way of avoiding my small homeworkload, and though it's a little plain backgrounds-wise, I think it's one of the better comics in the archive.

That's all I've got for today.
Today's journal was brought to you by the letter M and the number SCHOOL.

I don't need no edumacation.
Night folks.

Well, I went to bed two hours ago, only to lay there cursing whatever was keeping me awake. So I came on and decided to post my Stalking Evil fanart, which is my current absolute-favourite piece of my own work. It fits so nicely as a desktop too.
There will be more of these, actually. The next one will be featuring some of the other evil characters (Lego, RA, Sihodael, and some evil lego spiders - possibly other characters like Tynan and/or Mr Bob watching in the background). Netpoet is hoping for some good characters to show up, but I promised Lego, so evil first. Then I'll have to pick a scene with the naga and some other good people. I don't know how I'd go about drawing Spriteville. Maybe I'll just add him in later.

News about the convention:
Fuck I'm lazy. I'm working like mad to finish the comic book so I can get it printed - since comixpress moved their delivery times up (damn everyone else loving comixpress too), I'm stuck with a bit of a dilemma. So, out I go this week to find a place which will print things for me at a reasonable price. I'll bind them myself if I have to - we've got a bigass stapler hiding around the house here, I'm sure, and the comic books won't be that thick, so I'm confident I can do it myself without anything going horribly wrong.
Sculptures and art prints are on the back burner while I scramble to get this book done. Pinups and other small bits of art I can do quickly, and sculptures just as quickly if I do them in batches.
I've been thinking about making cookies, too. My original idea was chocolates, but I might screw those up. I can make cookies easy - it's just a matter of finding different colours of icing to make special Pimpette-styled cookies. Like Turkish and Frog and Speed, etc. Fun fun.
I'm so excited, and so worried at the same time. I have to get together with Ryan sometime soon so we can work on how we're going to set up our table. We're planning to make a nice big banner to hang over the front of the table - I'm wondering what else we can throw together that will still leave room for all the things we'll be showing off.

Hm, we should also try and figure out where we'll be staying for that weekend. Neither of us have our own car, so there's no question of commuting every day to and from the convention. Marcus (brother) lives in Toronto, so I might speak with him, there's a spare room in the house he's living in (or hell, we could set up a tent in his backyard) - or Ryan said he's got a sister there too. Between the both of us I'm sure something will come up.
So long as we can figure out how to get there every day, I'm fine.
Ooo... so wired now.
Way to go Laurel.

Guess I'll go and read or draw or something until I pass out. There go my plans for getting up early in the morning; it's three-thirty in the morning and I am wiiiiide awake.
*sigh*

Oh well, off I go.
Hope I see lots of people at the con!
SO EXCITED!

OK I'm gone for real now.

I'll be going to CN Expo again this year (August 26-29), but not just as one of the mass - I'm getting a table! Sharing one, really, but the outcome is the same.
This, of course, means that I have a lot of art to do before this thing starts. I have the feeling I'll be spending my entire summer (when I'm not camping or attending Courtney's wedding - see blog) drawing and sculpting and stuff. Which is cool; I don't mind at all. If nothing else, this is the kind of thing I can stick in a portfolio for third year. And hey, if I sell stuff, that's even more to brag about.
So I'm all revved up about this. I have to do some majorly nice-looking art - not to mention get it printed properly - as well as sculpt some more figurines, and put together a comic book.
Yeah, comic book.
It'll be a lot of work, but I think in the end it will totally be worth it. I'll be doing it in greyscale (cheaper): draw outlines, then take them into Photoshop, fix them up, and shade them. The whole thing will probably look something like this comic here, which is nice enough on its own.
But if by some strange twist of ... I dunno, Fate or something, I sell a lot of copies.. I'll have to make the next issue in colour.
Maybe even reissue the first one in colour.
It all depends.

Well I have to run to class. I'll write again the next time I hit some kind of artistic development!

Whoo! I'm all excited about my Turkish model, so of course I have to post like five million times about it. And he's not even finished yet. I'm just about to go put another coat of white paint on him. So far I've put about four, five, maybe even six hours into this, and I'm so proud of how he turned out. And he's not even finished yet!
Now, having gotten my paints and brushes out, I think I might start another painting. Not like I don't have a ton of work for school to be busy with, but I'm in a I'll-do-it-tomorrow mood and want to do something fun. I've already uploaded this Monday's comic for Pimpette, so I don't have to worry about that, and I don't have anything serious due for school on Monday, so I want to take a quick one-day break from school and play around a bit.
Besides, I've got five canvases sitting around my room screaming for attention - it's about time I finished one or two of them. I think I'm going to finish my dragon painting today, and start on a copy of it - but a better one. That one's nice but the clouds suck and there are things in there I want to change.
Yey. Productive day.
First of all though, I'm going to put another coat on Turkish and take a lunch break. I haven't eaten since before I started this model - last night. Off I go - I'll post the pictures when I'm done!

I've been feeling so dull, art-wise, that I decided it was time to try something new, rather than try to force myself into finishing other artwork that I'm just not interested in lately.
So, naturally, I went to Curry's. Everything was on sale - I wanted to buy the whole damn store, too. Why do the best markers always have to be so damn expensive.. *cries*
Got a couple new canvases (11 x 14s were about a buck each, how could I resist), and some Sculpey. Sorry, SUPER Sculpey. It was on sale too.
Now, I'm not really the best when it comes to sculpture, but it is fun and I enjoy it enough that it doesn't matter what my stuff looks like in the end. Not like I'll ever catch up to all you Art majors (yeah I'm looking at YOU, Ryan. Damn you and your talent and such, heh), but I can make some quality work if I try hard enough - or get bored enough. Things seem to come out looking better if I'm supposed to be doing something else. I tend to concentrate only on what I'm doing, because if I don't I'll start to remember that I have other, more pressing, things to deal with.
So yeah. I've got an idea for one of the canvases, and I'm working out the details in my head for my first sculpture. It'll be a bit of a challenge - trying to convert a two-dimensional character into a three-dimensional sculpture - but that's the fun part.
I've been trying to recreate him - and by him, I certainly mean Turkish - in Maya, but it's proving difficult and I've left off doing it for a while, having other things to worry about.
I almost can't wait for April and for summer holidays to start so I can work on all these things, without worrying about homework that needs to be done.
It may be fun homework, but homework is homework. If I'm forced to do it, I"ll almost always try to do something else instead.
