Things are crazy, as usually. Updated some of my more recent cupcaking exploits- lots of gum paste lately, haha. Back in LA, obviously, been back for a while and really enjoying it! For the first time, I feel more at home here than anywhere else. It's nice!

The only art I've really been doing is the cake stuff, and then the subsequent photographing of the cake stuff, but I'll be sure to update when I have unrelated photography. And there's a restaurant interested in hanging some of my 2D stuff, so we'll see where that goes.

This is my first day off in ages, and there have been a couple 80 hour weeks in the past few months, so today is all about uploading, food, wine, and The West Wing on my DVR. I hope you all are enjoying your weekends as well!

On Wednesday afternoon, my (moron) boss asked me to decorate two cakes for an incredibly rich Bel Aire family. They needed them Friday afternoon, and the blank cakes would be at the store on Thursday. Of course, I had my regular shifts from 7am-3:30pm both days. And my other job Thursday evening. So I worked from 7am on Thursday until 6pm Friday, that's right, 35 hours. Yay!

The cakes were delivered on time, but the Ariel one slid a bit and the sides were smooshed. It came back, I fixed it (took a little time, had to wait for the frosting and then match the color, etc.), sent it off again. I had a few more orders to do, but finally made it home, fairly exhausted at that point. And sure enough, an hour later, I get a message from an assistant manager saying the cake was damaged during transit, once again.

The first Little Mermaid cake was completely ruined, the design flattened, the sides sliced through. The driver wasn't particularly careful. Anyway, I had to come back in before 7am Saturday to do the entire cake over again by 9:30am. I ended up delivering it myself, haha. Oh, and then going back to work to close (12am) and do a couple more cakes.

Sorry, this is a total bitch-fest entry, but I need to get it off my chest. I was ultimately satisfied with the final products (and I got to see the customer's home when I delivered one. Wow. Having billionaire parents sure gets you an impressive mansion to hold your expensive crap), and needless to say, not having to go to work today was pretty sweet.

Oh man. It's time to vent.

I had Monday off, which was nice, but I spent it convincing people to let me rent one of their apartments. I succeeded (lease is up this weekend, new girl is moving into my place Saturday), but my credit is so awful they are requiring month and a half deposit. So now I need to give them quite a lot of money - a cashier's check, no less - on Friday in order to sign the lease. That's fine, but it is all of my money, and I'll have to give up most of my check next cycle for the rest of the deposit. The cycle after that, well that goes to rent again. So I have no money, like, none. I should have enough in tips to pay for gas and that's it.

Like I said, the girl is moving in Saturday. I worked 7am-9pm yesterday, 7am-4pm today, 3pm-11pm tomorrow, 3pm-12am Friday, 9am-12am Saturday, 7am-4pm Sunday, 7am-9pm Monday, 7am-9pm Tuesday, 7am-4pm Wednesday. And none of my shit is packed. When am I supposed to move? Gah! The girl is an aquaintance, a friend of my soon-to-be-former roommate, so she's fine with me gradually moving my stuff out, but the entire room has to be empty by Saturday. I'm so boned.

Obviously, my work schedule sucks and we just hired a moron, so there is that to deal with. Oh, and my parents are coming to visit. On Tuesday. For like a week. WTF?? Why can't these crises be spread out? I don't mind them individually, but all at once? ARGH!!!

I'm so excited to see my family, I mean, they live 2,000 miles away and I don't see them often. But the days leading up to the visit are simply shit, there's no getting around it. Urgh.

Life sucks, good night.

So many spectacular moments, and *of course* things I wish had gone differently, but that was some of the best animation ever. EVER! Maybe I'll have the strenght and patience to critique the specifics later, but right now I'll just take this contect feeling and go to bed. Lol. They linked my 4 little fangirl sketches, woohoo! People really seem to like the Mai from Boiling Rock, and hey, I'm all about that, lol. It's pretty scribbly, though. I'll try really hard to finish the colored version tonight, but I suck at digital art, so it might ruin the whole thing. Ha.

I feel bad for totally finking on that weekend contest thing. My character was Teo and theme was "It's a hard-knock life." Wow. Lol, sad and ironic. And then I just ran out of time to do it, plus my pathetic little brain could produce no decent ideas for it. Sigh.

Okay, I'm really full of veggie burger right now (and fries, ugh). Less than two weeks ago, actually, and they just promoted me to Assistant Manager. *sigh* Lol, it's a bakery featuring FANTASTIC cupcakes, and they are definitely on the rise, but obviously there are a few kinks in the system. So I'm putting off going to bed even though I know I have to get up at 6am. And I'm killing time on a DevArt journal. Whatever. Oh, and I'm exhausted because I had to work all three of my jobs at the same time while I was fulfilling my two weeks notice, so I worked more than 70 hours last week. *double sigh* At least there was a Futurama marathon this weekend; my DVR is overflowing with awesome!
