"Everything is never as it seems". i truly believe that. how is it that a perfect song, such as this, could be created? seriously! it's AMAZING! and if you haven't heard it, i have it on my play list on my profile. and i'm suddenly craving apples.... random!

so, thoughts.... what are my thoughts for tonight? well, things tend to be unlike what they seem a lot. how interesting is that? i seem like i'm younger than i am. some people seem more sincere than they are. others seem more perfect than they are, or not as broken inside as they are. some seem stronger than they are. some seem weaker than they are. it's an interesting thing that you can't judge a book by its cover because it's usually not the most accurate view of what's inside, and everyone will see something different no matter what they're looking at. isn't that amazing?

i can write a poem about an apple with a worm inside that someone accidentally eats and someone can interpret that as an erotic poem about sex. well, everyone's entitled to their own view. it's part of their perspective, how they view the world, the specific prescription of rose colored classes given them by experience, and it affects everything they do and see or hear, feel, touch, etc. it's something i've definitely noticed. and experiences from childhood, no matter how long ago that may or may not be, will influence you as you get older, no matter how much you may try to get away from it. it's just the way it is. it's part of who you are. you don't have to rely on it, but denying it happened won't help you either. it is a part of who you are, no matter how small a part.

it's just like when i say that every person i meet has a place in my heart. how big of a piece depends on how well and how long i know them. but anyone who i have spent any semblance of quality time with is someone i will remember. and each person i meet, under whatever circumstances, will slightly change my perspective on life, be it for good or ill. that's what we're here for, to open up horizons for each other. we have to work together to have a truly clear vision of the world. that's why we're not meant to be alone. sometimes it just takes a while to find that other part of us that we're missing. and sometimes we don't' even realize that we're missing it. sometimes we compromise and only partially fill that space. it happens all the time.

but, "everything is never as it seems". usually, patience, perseverance, and hope reveal the truth behind all things. that's the way it is. if you want something truly worth having, you have to work at it. be patient. hope. dream. persevere. hang in there. hold on and don't let go. if it's truly worth having, don't give up. anything is possible. life has taught me that. nothing is as it seems.

did you now that people who do something creative every day tend to live longer, healthier lives? not only that, but their minds stay sharp longer. try something new every day. do something creative. write. sing, paint. draw. throw pots. not literally. ceramics.

we often sell ourselves short, i've noticed. we put ourselves down. we say silly things like "i'm not worth it" or "i can't do it". we trick ourselves into believing those things, then the problems start. we lose confidence in ourselves and those around us. well.... i guess we can do that if we really want to, or we can choose to believe that we have potential to do great things, to be something great. we don't' have to change the world, just a small part of it. and sometimes that small part is just ourselves. if we can do that, see the good instead of the bad, i'd say that's a pretty big accomplishment.

"cuz i get a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs as they try to teach me how to dance."

here's another question for you. how often do we think about the little things? i mean the ones we usually take for granted, like little earth worms and lady bugs, flower petals, a cool breeze, the scent of freshly mowed grass. or, how about jelly beans. carrots. chairs. beds. kids. friends. cars. fireflies. stars. the night sky. lights. sun. moon. and how about chocolate chips? or time spent enjoying life?
how come we often overlook the simple things that make us happy? it's like we don't believe they can, that we can't be happy unless we have the big, complicated things that don't equal happiness. we're looking too far from the target, in a way. it's the simple things that really bring happiness. it really is. don't believe me? just ask someone what makes them happy. it's probably not the really expensive ring you gave them, but the thought behind it. it's what it represents, which is likely something not tangible, something you can only feel inside. now how is that for amazing?

did you know that you actually get the most satisfaction from life by h...

What was your first cosplay?
um.... I guess you could technically say Strawberry Shortcake if you want to go for dressing up when I was a kid, but anime cosplay? Azula from Avatar, and if Americanime doesn't count.... Izumi from FMA

02. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
Well, for anime, it was friends getting me into it because they said I couldn't go to a convention without a costume. As to others, I like to sew so making costumes has always been something fun to do.

03. What is your favorite cosplay?
I really like my sith Witch/Azula outfit. I spend a lot of time on that one, and it was the first one I really made by myself, no help at all, modifying patterns and everything. Major project.

04. Which is your least favorite?
Um... my Izumi Curtis one, actually..... I wish I'd done better with that but I was on a very tight deadline so not as good as I hoped....

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
I've had people come up and ask me about my cosplays, mainly Azula/Sith Witch, some with Izumi.

6. How many have you done?
i would have to guess around four.... four and a half at this point.

7. What are the top 5 on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
A. That Jedi master with the head tails in the new Star Wars
B. Kagura from Inuyasha
C. Murielle from Noir
D. Jin from Yu Yu Hakusho
E. Arwen from Lord of the Rings

8. (Girls only) What female cosplay do you want to do most?
Arwen from Lord of the Rings

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
since Jin is the only one on my list, he'd have to do.

10. What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes?
Make as much as I can because sewing is fun.

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Probably making my Mimiko because everything that could go wrong, did, and I still managed to laugh at it while everything wrong was going on.

12. Your dream cosplay?
Um... Arwen in her final dress....

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what?
Not really, mainly from animes I've actually seen... nothing special really.

14. Your most recent cosplay?
Mimiko from Black Blood Brothers

15. What do you prefer? Cosplaying in a group or on your own?
I've not really gone group cosplaying before so doesn't matter to me.

TAG!

:iconlegalian:

Sorry! I just wanted to make sure everything was clarified. Don't beat me!

1) 4 (Kagome) invites 3 (Edward) and 8 (Jimmy) to dinner at their house. What happens?

Edward immediately has a complex over the fact that Jimmy is a detective and keeps insisting that he has nothing to hide while Kagome wonders where an extra set of bead of subjugation are kept so that she can get Jimmy to shut up about his deductive reasoning. Jimmy is bent on solving every little detail about Edward while showing off his ability at deduction.

2) 9 (Tohru) tries to get 5 (Kyo) to go to a strip club.

Tohru obviously has no idea what a strip club is and, in her attempts to get Kyo to go with her, finds herself getting even more confused as Kyo turned more and more red with every insistence about the idea, unable to tell her what the place really is all about.

3) You need to stay at a friend's house for the night. Do you chose 1 (Akito) or 6 (Zelman)?

Wow.... probably Zelman, since he's not at least ten years younger than me and is still neutral enough that he wouldn't try any funny business. Besides, he has those awesome fireballs of doom!

4) 2 (Tohru) and 7 (Kirika) are making out. 10 (Tamaki) walks in...Their reaction?

Um.... Awkward! It was just an innocent moment, Kirika insists, some practical mouth to mouth demonstration. Tohru is definitely beet red.

5) 3 (Edward) falls in love with 6 (Zelman). 8 (Jimmy) is jealous. What happens?

oh wow, gay all over the place! what's with this? Edward transmutes a cage around Jimmy who tried to deduct a way out of the mess while Zelman pulls out one of his fireballs of doom.

6) 4 (Kagome) jumps at you in a dark alleyway. Who comes to your rescue? 10 (Tamaki),2 (Tohru) or 7 (Kirika)?

Tamaki, more like as not. It would make it more comical because I don't think Kagome could do much damage to me, and Tamaki would just be so awesome as a dashing young hero!

7) 1 (Akito) decides to start a cooking show. 15 minutes later what is happening?

Well, the noodles are a bit.... done. He got distracted when Sana came over and tried to give him an autograph for his sister. After that, chaos as his sister rampages, otherwise he's a fairly good cook.

8) 5 (Kyo) is in a car crash and is critictly injured. What does 9 (Hitsuguya) do?

He calls up Unahana to help out with the situation and sits there, waiting until she shows up but doesn't have a clue beyond trying to make sure he doesn't die.

9) 3 (Edward) has to marry either 8 (Jimmy),4 (Kagome) or 9 (Hitsuguya). Who do they choose?

Considering that all but one of the choices is a girl, he picks Kagome, but runs like mad when Inuyasha comes after him for trying to take Kagome away from him.

10) 7 (Kirika) kidnaps 2 (Tohru) and demands something from 5 (Kyo) for 2 (Tohru's)'s release. Why?

Tamaki has obviously somehow gotten the idea that Kagome is a guy or something and that "he" wants to take Haruhi away, so in a weird whim of fancy, and with some help from Kyoya, he has a day of Rome in the host club and challenges Kagome to a race to decide who gets to cart Haruhi off.

13) Everyone gangs up on 3 (Edward).
hey everyone! i'm in texas! got here last night and was so dead tired from driving and not sleeping that i didn't even try to get online..... meh..... but here we be now

i posted stuff about the con at my myspace and on okunenanime.com. should be in the blog section so i might not post much about it here..... overload of revisitation and all that.....

but hey, the convention was fun. i got to see some friends i hadn't seen in a while, reconnect with some new ones i made at the lost con i went to..... make some plans, get autographs for my lil brother, take my lil sister to her first con, and just have fun, with as little sleep as possible, thanks to partying roommates and travel. but i did sleep last night, so don't be alarmed there. got about ten hours of sleep actually, though i wouldn't mind more! got pics of the con but they're on my myspace page, id talialee.... if you can't wait until next week for me to post them here......

oh yes, i won two awards at the con, both in the amv contest. best drama for my "i stand" video, which made the judges cry, and fan fave for my "whisper" black blood brothers action vid. i hope to post those all on youtube or some other place soon, but might not be able to until i get back to utah next week... so those are some things to look foward to. i'll try to post links when i get them up and online. i know there are some people who will love them... and my personal fave, the comedy one that everyone laughed at, "to the fans", makes fun of fannatical fans and man, you gotta see it. and tell me what you think too....
but yeah, that's about all i have time for right now. helen's dozing, waiting for her computer back... and we have some stores and places to visit.... all business related, of course.
so have fun! don't miss me too much if i'm not online a lot this week and all that jazz!

greetings, here is my most recent update for you all...

i have finished the skirt for my cosplay and am working on the shirt, and have found, finally, a pattern for the jacket. i have also procured the required accessories, namely socks, shoes and wig. i'll pick up the wig from the p.o. tomorrow... yay!

i've put off drawing for a bit in favor of getting my cosplay done, as well as preps for my vacation at the end of the month. in two weeks, i'm headed back to texas.

unt's studio arts program did not accept me into their program this year but i'm not too upset by it, just a minor setback, really.

some things that may or may not be true are at least partially confirmed, though not completely at this time.

i will be moving back to the basement in a month and a half so that i can save money to move to Texas in the fall. date yet to be decided for sure. depends on what happens between now and a few months....

i'm now also the training manager at work, on top of being in charge of birthday parties and promotional displays.

my lil brother has been on his mission for one year now, almost. technically by the beginning of next month... second week i think, to be completely accurate.

i'm dying my hair again this week while the roommates are off playing in the ocean.

i bought new clothes for my wardrobe, and they're pretty cute. i like them, six shirts and two pairs of pants. i'm actually wearing more vibrant colors now and a little more form revealing, instead of just cover me up like a glad bag type of clothes... i do tend to go towards baggy for some odd reason.

and i think that's about it. you are up to date now. yay!

I work in traditional media, mainly pencil and charcoal. Some of my finished work can be seen in my gallery under "traditional art", but to see exactly what I draw, you might want to check out my myspace at myspace.com/talialee (cut and paste the address please)

I do black and white only right now, but every portrait I've done is accurate to the source. Portraits consist of people with our without background or landscapes/buildings, or related.

It takes a minimum of one week to do a portrait of a standard size and I require a photo to work from. (Nothing obscene or otherwise inappropriate.)

A portrait with up to three individuals in the 11"X14" size runs around $100, pending on complexity. In most cases, this will include shipping, if it's inside the United States.

I also will work in other sizes. In general, they range from the following:
8"X11" for about $50-57 pending on complexity
and sizes larger than 11"X14" pending on size desired and complexity, plus number of figures ranges from $150 and up.

I do not include frame or matting, except for an additional price upon request.

My work is currently featured on the Peach Truck Republic website at peachtruck.com and will be touring with them.

All commissions must be negotiated with me before I will work on any of them. In some cases, I'm more than willing to work with you on pricing and payment. Payment will be decided on after contacting me and explaining what you want in terms of size and complexity.

You can either message me or email me at talialovestodraw@gmail.com .

More update for ya. i just got back from driving my mom home from the hospital. i volunteered to do it, playing chauffer for everyone since i didn't get to see her yesterday. it was fun driving her home in this lovely snowy weather with roads slicker than i've seen em in a good long while.
as for my mom, she's doing well, recovering. she's tired, but looks good but has to take things easy for at least a week, slowly working her way back up to normal stuff, like activities and diet stuff. but she's doing well and i know we all appreciate your prayers and well wishes so thanks!

-----------------
I just got back from the hospital, visiting my mom. the surgery went well and she's doing okay, at least as far as can be expected. she's still pretty out of it and they're going to keep her until Wednesday. i know she's only allowed to currently have half a cup of chipped ice every hour and that she's in pain with nausua, but dad says everything is okay and as it was expected to be at this point so yeah, that's the update, as much as i know right now.

------------------------------
My mom is going in for surgery on Monday and i was wondering if you guys could either cross your fingers or pray for her that everything will go okay. It's nothing hugely serious, just something that should have been taken care of a long time ago and is only now being taken care of, hopefully solving a lot of problems she's been having lately. it's a complex surgery, from what i can tell, so i'm not sure how to react to it all but any offers of prayers, crossed fingers, etc. is definitely appreciated.

thanks.

I just might freak out, in a bad way.

I'm trying to calm myself down again because today has been a very, very interesting day, to say the least. I was in a car accident today.
Now, before anyone goes off freaking out with me, please note that i'm okay, physically. my car has a very cracked back bumper. What happened is this morning i was going to work and i come from the west side of town. McDonald's sits on the north side of the street so to get into the parking lot i have to make a left hand turn off the main street. I was going into the turn lane when someone decided to try and beat out from the drive-thru, going also a left hand turn onto the main road to go east. he rammed into my back bumper, knocking my car a bit, cracking a lovely large and noticeable crack in my back bumper and giving me a bit of a jolt. i was shaking, i admit, when i braked, parked, and turned on my hazard lights in the center lane of hte main road. he did the same, behind me.
he didn't have a phone with him so i called the dispatch to let them know what had happened, then called work, which i was right in front of, to tell them what had happened and that i'd probalby be late to work because of it.
after waiting for a bit, a cop came by, checked us both over and we ended up exchanging information.
for the most part i was able to forget about this at work, but the moment it was brought back to the front of my mind, i began shaking again and i'm still shaking a bit because of it. it's going to cost about $700 to fix my bumper but at least i don't have to pay it.
man, what a think to happen on the day i'm heading out of town for a convention! i'm rattled. i admit it. i've never been in a car accident before and i was relatively clueless, which is partly why i wanted a cop there, so that i'd have someone to let me know because i don't know that the guy knew either. i'm just glad he didn't drive away. but i have his information now and all that lovely stuff. so yeah.
once again, i'm okay, just shaken and i'm going to try and forget about this during the weekend, though, it's entirely possible that i'll lose it later tonight, when i have nothing else to do. i hope it doesn't happen but i know it's possible. i'm that kind of person, who will stay relatively calm, if not shaking a bit, during the crisis, then break down some time after, pending on how well i can keep my mind off of it.

but hey, i'm going out of town and all that lovely stuff. so hopefully life will be good. i think i have a killer headache though, from worrying about this, and stressing out. ibuprofin may be my best friend this weekend as i try to process all of this.... good thing i'll have a lot to keep my mind occupied with. now what did i do with my headphones?

so, for peeps who don't know or don't do myspace, went to texas and this is the gist of what happened.

took two days to get there and yeah. slept in friday morning and then we went to the mall and checked out some sights. nothing huge there.
saturday, they took me to Medieval Times, which is a dinner and show kind of thing with a jousting tournament going on. that was pretty cool, but totally wiped me out.
sunday, went to ft. worth and met up with a few members of the band and gave them their portraits. it was a nice, casual meeting. and monday, met with grady, who i hadn't met up with sunday. he enjoyed his portrait a lot and i was glad. he bought me and helen lunch, so that was cool.
monday was also some more shopping and that kind of thing.
tuesday, i said my goodbyes and headed back to utah. and wednesday, i arrived back in utah and slept in my own bed again, which was weird, but good. and today, just catching up on life and trying to prepare myself for work tomorrow. not looking forward to it, but what can you do?

i'm trying to get some pics on photobucket that i took from my car while coming and going since my camera pretty much stayed in suitcase while i was actually there, minus one day. so yeah.... and i'll be posting the Fellowship of the Ring on Survivor, first chapter, really soon, so you have that to look forward to.

toodles!

I feeling a bit.... unhappy at present because of something my sister told me this morning. She called me up only twenty minutes ago to tell me that her storage unit somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley, was broken into, the only one in the storage complex, for some odd reason. They took all of her movies, her CD's, her kitchen items, and the food she'd stored there until she moved into her new place. Apparently the only things they didn't touch were her books and a few random items, so they probably even got her journals. She called me to help her remember what movies she had so she could file as accurate a report as possible.

Already she's ordered new dishes and some cooking ware, but everything else, aside from a wok or two and some dishtowels, is pretty much gone. i personally don't know what to think about this. she's being a lot more strong about this than i probably would, though i know she's probably devistated, especially since she's moving soon and hers was the only unit entered. does someone have something against my sister? was it completely random? who knows? one thing for sure, today, after work, i'm going to my storage until to see what she has down here because she left some of her things down here because there wasn't room to take them when she first moved up north. so, if i don't draw today, it's only because i'm doing that, inventorying what she still has down here for her. doesn't seem like i can do much else, though i did help her remember twenty some odd movies she used to have before this.
not sure what else i can do at the moment, for her. i guess i can ask if any of my friends have anything they'd like to donate for her. it's sad that i should even have to ask, that it would even happen, for that matter. i hope she had her stories with her, but i know she lost a lot of family history, stories from grandparents recorded on tapes and that kind of thing.....

what is wrong with this world? if i had the money, i'd go and replace everything for her, but i don't have the money to do that. and there's not much i can do, except see what she has down here, comfort her from across the state, and hope and pray that someone will decide to be honest. but, if anyone wants to help out, you are more than welcome to do so. i don't know what you can do, necessarily, but i do have a P.O. Box, 8052 in Cedar City, UT 84720 if anyone wants to donate anything. i'll make sure she gets it. please, cash is NOT PREFERRED if you send anything. I will, however, be going up north for Anime Banzai at the end of next month and will take whatever up then....

Okay, so, move mostly done, need to unpack now, and occasionally dip into the storage unit for cooking stuff.... other then that, i shall be back in order again soon, pending on how script goes, when i get back into drawing, how roommate bonding goes.... and all that related stuff.

so, i'm bone tired, dont' care about grammar and punctuation or even spelling for that matter, just so glad that all of my essential stuff is moved and now must be organized, which should be fun.... yay........

waiting, currently, for my current only roommate to come back from freshman activities on campus, which i am so not attending because i am so graduated.... but eh, whatever. when the others move in, it is entirely possible that i will be the oldest of the group, still.... because i am currently the oldest in the place. yay.

at any rate, i think i have begun to... er, rather, have lost the ability to function coherently for the night so i bid you all a good night and don't let them nasty buggies bite ya.
---------------
It's true, I am moving over the next few days, so if you don't see me online at all, you all know why, though I'm hoping I'll be able to be online, regardless. Fingers crossed.

I hope to be back in order by the end of the week so that I can get back to drawing and writing. Being closer to work will hopefully give me more time to get things done, and not having to worry about siblings' and parents' schedules will also help, aside from being nice.

Also, looking for advice on whether to fly to Texas or just drive. I'm currently teetering in the middle of the scale, not sure which I like better. It will cost about the same, maybe a little less driving, either way, though flying means more time out there than driving, but I do love a good drive. So, any suggestions or help in figuring that one out are appreciated.

Okay, internship status: there was a delay due to a family emergency on my producer's part and we are now finally getting back into things, after potentially finding a distributor. The thing is that they won't distribute unless they think the script will sell, which means I need to get going, as soon as they get me the script back for revisions, so that we can get this off the ground and done with. so... once the script is back in my hands, i've got the ball in court and must hurry but do a good job in revising, to make it all work out the best possible way to fit and all that stuff.

i have finished my Jerry Jewell portrait and am waiting until after I finish moving to start on the next one because of the chaos that is going on right now in my life.

I have also set a date for my Texas trip, September 24th. I hope nothing happens to keep me from going.

anime banzai just got cooler with Vic coming for that. i hope they can get Jerry, but the chances aren't so good at the moment. oh well there. and hmmm..... oh yeah, moving out this weekend and start of next week so that's been taking up time, what with packing and all that and my internet dying for a few days..... blah to that.

also been a bit ill lately, still trying to kick whatever it is i've caught and not stress too much about everything that is going on. still need to fix my car and should probably have the brakes checked, just to be on the safe side.

and that's about where i am at present. not done any writing lately because of everything else going on that takes priority, if in no other place than in my head, and all that lovely stuff. perhaps more at a later date.

And if i spelled that one wrong, who cares! I have finally gotten permission to use a specific photo of Jerry Jewell in my project to draw everyone in the band he's a vocalist for. The photo I've chosen? It's the one for his profile on the guest's page of Animevegas.com. I think it is the best expressive picture of him that i've seen, so i had to get permission to use it for the project, which i got today. he seemed pleased that i asked, but don't think that means i have his email address or anything! because i don't. we have a go-between to protect his privacy.

so, this one will be very fun to draw, not only is it not an actual complete portrait pose, not showing his entire head and all that, which the traditional sense says is a portrait pose, but the shading will be tricky because in the original, the shadows are vague! won't this be fun! I think so.

so, despite the fact that this will potentially totally drive me insane with how difficult it likely will be, it will also probably go by faster than i think it will, but hey, should sill be fun, right?

so, if i disappear for a bit, it's only because i'm drawing this series that i need to have done by mid September. I have five portraits to go, with at least ten hours to each portrait, along with my usual work schedule, adding a few hours here and there because it's the busy season, and film stuff... sorry to those who have to wait for more furuba fiction, but hey, i'm sure it will be worth the wait!

Okay, I just learned some things that will potentially cause some more delays on the part of my fan fiction. I can hear the groans already, but please bear with me! This is exciting news that I'm going to relate to you, though nothing is official, yet.

I've been working on a film for an internship, mainly script writing, and now my director is meeting with some big wigs about another project that will potentially turn into a tv program for kids that will run on a regular basis, basically a TV show, serial or whatever you want to call it. Disney may be among those in this meeting. He asked me if it was okay with me if he put my name up to the board as a potential script writer for the project if it gets green lit.

also, we will be filming my current project sometime within the next two months. I'll get the script back next week for revision into lock down, then we have casting calls, a few weeks for the actors to read through and memorize, then filming.... and sometime around the end or middle of that, my current employer wants to send me to certification classes. also in this time period is Anime Banzai, which i am committed to attend, along with my planned trip to Texas, which is looking more realistic as the days go by. Add that to my drawing project for The Peach Truck Republic band... you have a lot going on in my neck of the woods, so if my writing slows down.... don't be alarmed. I haven't dropped off the face of the planet. I haven't dropped the fiction off the face of the planet, but my brain is so full of things going on and potentially going on that sorting it all out has become a lot harder, but be aware that i have worked on the furuba fiction today and plan on trying to get it out, hopefully with a new chapter by Sunday, but we'll see how things go for the rest of this week because there are some other projects that I have to take care of.

But that is where I stand at the moment, just so everyone is aware. I will also likely be posting pics of older works of art since I've had a request or two from some friends that I do that.

I will not be posting the next chapter of my Snow in a Fruit's Basket today. sorry for those who are anxiously waiting, but you will have to continue to wait. I am outright exhausted, after working practically from sunup this morning until about an hour ago.... i am ready to just drop off into sleep and so haven't got the next chapter ready, but i will get it so don't be overly alarmed, and please, try to be patient!

I'm not sre if it's on purprose or not, but i think my place of employment is trying to kill me with stress. today.... oi... what can i say about it? staring out wasn't too bad, and i expected it to be pretty busy for breakfast, which is was. but the person we had in front drive, handing out orders, didn't have a clue and i had no way to replace him with someone else so i had to babysit him 24/7 while watching out for everyone else, stretching myself thinner than i care to be stressed. lucky for me, i was able to get someone else to run the show during lunch and let me be in peace, making sandwiches in the back. but then i got off late because they decided to have me count down the deposit, after a huge string of orders that i made pretty much on my own because we didn't have enough people who knew how to make sandwiches. the real add to my stress was when they thunked down in front of me the MDP manuel for the management development course, telling me that they expect me to go to Advanced Shift Management around September, which is another manuel to go through. Actually, they're more like workbooks, but it does make me certified to become a salaried assistant manager, which isn't something i want to be. and they want me to get the MDP book finished asap after I get back from ASM, which is potentially during the same time that my internship is filming the script that i wrote, which is something i want to participate in, and also smack in the middle of the time i plan on going to Texas, if i can afford it by then. it didn't help that i got hit with all of this while counting down drawers, without any dollar bills to put in them... cashing out crew checks, and working past my shift. let's just say i wasn't too happy about it and got really frazzled just there and then..... still not happy about everything. I think my friend, Ashley, is definitely right to believe i'm going to go insane, for reals, before the summer is out.

so, now on my do to list for this summer/early fall:
ASM prework and workbook
edit script
film script
MDP workbook
my drawings (which is something i choose to inflict myself with because i can)
planning for a cross-country trip
moving out in August
applying to various schools (includes portfolio and other paperwork)
costume for Banzai
my furuba fiction
and my other writing projects which i would die without.

all in all, i have a lot to accomplish in the next few months and it isn't exactly thrilling to me to have all these new things lumped onto my plate. i'm feeling stressed as is and didn't need anything added to it. i'm still trying to figure out if i need to retake the GRE or not for grad school, or if i'll even make into grad school anymore. i don't know.
with this and everything else going on... who can blame me if i let some things slide, temporarily? like i didn't work on any drawings yesterday. i should work on that today, as well as laundry and cleaning up my room, persuading my sister to pick up her laundry.... try not to die of heat stroke because it's like an oven in the basement for some odd reason.

all i can really think, at the moment, is thank you that i'm not in a flood, a fire, an earth quake, a tornado, a hurricane, or some other natural disaster. at least i'm not in one of those. at least all i have to deal with at the present is stress over work and related things, and the lack of a social life. and here i was trying to get one started up again! guess that one goues out the window, at least for now. i'll never get married at this rate. oh well on that one too, i suppose.

4:42 PM - 0 Comments - 0 Kudos - Add Comment - Edit - Remove

okay, i know it might not help me out much but i thought, why not?

my birthday is coming up in two months (pluse 20 some odd days!) and since i want this one to count for something, it being my "golden" birthday and all, i want to do something special. my original idea was to go to Disneyland where I have a few friends because that would be fun. However, lately, my mind has wondered how it would be if i went to Texas instead and met some people out there, checked out places like Funimation and met up with a few people I met this year who live out there.

I'm the kind of person who likes to have these things planned out as far in advance as possible so that's why i'm asking for any input, suggestions, ideas, comments, etc, now.

in the past, admittedly, i've felt rather like my birthdays were just kind of squeezed in-between what is happening at the moment. The last time I really had anything coolio in celebration, my friends Obi and Mellina were taking me to lunch at the Pizza Factory. After that, it's basically been "oh, birthday right, let's do something nice for dinner really quick, and oh, yeah, someone go bake a cake." This past year, i was living at home, it was, yes, special dinner, cake... and then chaos happened. my brother-in-law got stuck coming home from St. George because his tire blew out on the freeway and that took a couple hours to get him back and his car driving again. and more than half of those i know forgot about my birthday.

sure, to some people, birthdays aren't a big deal. I admit, i'm one who doesn't like a HUGE amount of fuss made, but i like to know that people out there care about it and about me and that i'm not just some afterthought and so, i want this one to be special in ways the others....weren't. after all, you only technically get one golden birthday.

so, disneyland? texas? if i do texas, the chances of me going at a later time are larger because of everything going on around that, like anime vegas and anime banzai. i don't have to go to vegas, though Jerry will be there and i might have the chance to give him the PTR drawing in person.... not likely mind you. it's also the weekend of our county fair and i want to enter the drawing into the contests to see how well it will do.

i know texas will cost more because it's farther away. driving would definitely take longer so the quicker way would be to fly, which means i'd have to rent a car. or i could drive. i'm sure my car could handle it, once a few things are fixed, like my horn and the vacuum hose. they're not entirely life threatening. i don't technically know that many people out there, at least not that i've met in person. i don't know how they'd view my coming out, because it would, in part, be to meet them.

disneyland is familiar territory. i've been there many times before and i know Kevin out there, have known him for a long time, however, i dont' know if he could get the time off or if he'd remember to get the time off. it's been that way in the past.

so, therein lies my dilemma, deciding which to do. so, any help in helping me decide, to weight it out and all, would be appreciated. never been to texas and i think it would be fun to go but who knows?

Okay, this is the main reason why i don't draw anime, or anything not hugely realistic. I suck at it. That is the plain and awful truth. I'm a great realist, but when it comes to idealism and expressionism.... i'm a lost cause. However, I"m really good at tracing.... I'm also really good at mimicking, so long as I have a really good reference, so, maybe, if i had a lot of practice mimicking the style, i might overcome this boundary i have, but i've mainly dealt with realistic objects and don't generally stylize them, at least not on purpose, so that's pretty much why i don't draw anime. just in case anyone was wondering!

I have two faces almost completely done now, out of six. and three bodies out of those six, but we're getting there. and i know that i promised i'd get going on my story again! patience please! i am working on it. promise. finding myself thrown out of working on it for almost a month, i found myself needing to totally refresh myself with the manga and the anime so that the ideas that were in my head will get flowing again as the characters slowly make their way back into my brain. i hate it when they leave but it couldn't be helped. there had to be room for the 20-30 speaking characters in the script.
so, i am going to reread what i've written, been rereading some manga, and then i'm going to get writing. i've decided not to move out of my parent's house until fall so that will help with that unneeded stress at the moment. however, i am also still drawing and will be soon starting on the construction of my cosplay outfit for anime vegas and banzai, so that will cramp time a bit too. not to worry though, i can definitely get this done, and hopefully by the end of summer! so, it may still take a bit to get the next chapter up, but i promise they will be coming a bit more regularly, until the end of the story, or i'll die trying.

at least for now. i turned in my complete draft of the script this afternoon, after adding ten pages to the total. it is currently 96 pages long, with 140 scenes. the director/producer will be going over it over the next few days and letting me know of any revisions, etc. that he wants me to do with it, but i'm crossing my fingers that there won't be too many!

so, for a bit, at any rate, i'm a free woman and will be working on the furuba story again, after celebrating. i am also still drawing the Peach Truck Republic

and if anyone has ideas for costumes for cosplay that i can make in about a month's worth of time for Anime Vegas, please let me know!

So, after some interesting happens, and a day off to think about things, I have decided to start drawing again. It's been a while so I feel a bit hesitant about it, but I feel that this is something that I need to be doing so I am going to do it.

And what am i going to draw? I am going to draw the Peach Truck Republic, a folk rock/jam/southern something or other music group that has recently caught my attention by both who is in it and because of the music they play.

Tonight I set about doing the first steps that will hopefully lead to a good drawing. If not, i will start over again and keep plugging at it until i get something good. In this case, I have the determination needed to do so, even if i may not have the time. I shall make the time, when i'm not writing script or fan fiction, which i need to get going on.

what decided me to do this? not entirely sure. it was one of those guiding influence from unseen hands kind of things, where you feel an invisible hand behind you, pointing in the direction you should go, and silently whispering "go this way, do that." or something like that at any rate.

something else i want to eventually draw, something more out of my element because i haven't really gotten into drawing in the anime style, but something i want to do anyway, a spoof on Trigun, so eventually you'll also have that to look forward to. we'll see how it goes.

Scenes: 12. (writing was interrupted by the necessity to play taxi-driver for my siblings who both had concerts tonight)

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008:
met with project director at 10:30 am to discuss current pages, expounding on scenes and adding more details. discussed next few scenes, with potential deviations on said scenes.
meeting interrupted by important phone call to the company. left for lunch at panda and returned home to incorporate new changes and work on potential scenes for next segment. laundry in the process of everything else.

at about 2 pm i decided to leave off writing and editing for some recreation and played ddr for half an hour, worked on a potential scenerio for script, then put it away for the day.
status: 14 pages, 15 scenes, two potentials for next scene. will meet with director again tomorrow after work.

5/15/08
tried to call director but no answer. guess he's in a meeting. i should probably try and brainstorm a few more ideas for the next scene but don't feel like it since i had a very hectic work shift today and i feel rather worn out. will likely hang out with Luciene tonight.

5/19/08
met with director and talked about possibilities for moving story that i worked on. he liked one of the possibilities i presented and we are running with. wrote two more scenes before calling it good for the evening and watching several episodes of Heroes

5/20/08
been working on script off and on since about four. have added six pages to script, after looking up ways to format montages and trying to figure out how to set up the action for the montages. now heading into a party scene where the main character's values show. not sure how i'm going to write it yet.
as of 7:10 pm, stats: working on page 24, with 30 scenes written of varying lengths. will probably work on more later since i am probably going to meet with the director again tomorrow. must have more to show him.

5/21/08
working on script again. started about 9:30. will probably meet with director again. to point, now on page 31, with 37 scenes written. have at least three more scenes to write before talking to director again.
added another five pages to count. don't know how many scenes i have written yet.

purchased a printer so i can print the pages without using someone else's printer.

5/27/08
Over the weekend, i managed to do some damage to my car so it prevented me from meeting with my director and so i didn't know what part to write next, so up until today, i haven't done much writing.

today, did some editing of previous work, made sure it was printed off. worked on ending sequence of script. will probably end up revising it later. ending sequence contains 8 scenes and four pages total. will likely now work on something else until tomorrow, when i meet with the director again.

5/28/08
met with director and got tons of story to work with. so much, in fact, that i think my head will explode. THERE IS TOO MUCH INFORMATION! i must somehow filter through it all and figure out what will and will not work based off of what he's told me and what i've seen in some things he's already done with it. ACK!

5/29/08
got up around nine. started writing fifteen/twenty minutes later. wrote three more pages before stopping to go into town to have car checked, pay some bills, and find something for lunch. visited dad at his office at work and ate lunch with him.
came back home and helped mom with swimming pool patching. got back to writing. now on page eleven of second part of script, separate from other part. trying to work backwards until i reach the point where i can connect the two parts together, somewhere in the middle. sent current draft to director over e-mail, after tweaking it a bit last night. will continue to work on script throughout the day, unless my being sick does something to prevent that. i will likely need some kid...

just an update to all who watch, read, or whatever, friends and those i don't even know, this is what is going on in my life at the moment. Since i didn't get into UCLA, i've decided to try USC, with potential of trying for UCLA again next go around. In the meantime, i'm going to upgrade my hard drive and buy that coolio camera i talked about earlier.

current happenings in life: my younger sister and a brother-in-law graduated from college saturday. my sister and her hubby have moved up north also as of yesterday, so that was a busy day. i'm trying to write the next few chapters of my fan fiction but have a bit of writer's block at the moment, but the next chapter is totally dedicated to AmberPallette. Wednesday, I have an interview for a potential internship with a small, independent film company that is currently based in my home town. if i get, i'll likely be writing scripts, but it will help out in my portfolio. McDonald's, where i work, wants to keep me forever and will work me any hours i tell them i can so i'm trying to balance that out with my sibs coming up soon to their summer holiday. i know i could use one.
work has been the usual hectic. we're headed into our really busy season and i'm looking forward to some time away from town and all that. i have made a few more videos on youtube if you want to check them out.
most of the time that i'm not working, i've been fending off younger siblings who have been clinging to me because the other big people in their lives have moved, mainly the sister who moved and my younger brother who is going to Germany in a few months after specialized training in the language, aka mission. and since mom has done the whole school thing this past semester, i've had to act as the step-in mom for her so you could say that i've been a mom without having had kids.

now, my life isn't exactly busy, but for those who i've not exactly had contact with lately, please, don't be offended. i've been trying to figure things out myself, what i'm doing, researching my options and trying not to take too many of my local peeps' advice too hard. they all want me to go to byu, it seems. okay, it's a half and half thing but trying to figure that all out can drain a girl. but believe me when i say you guys are in my thoughts even if i don't make the time to text, email, voice mail, or simply give a shout out on a comment or something. hopefully things won't feel so hectic now that i've made some decisions, and Amber, darling, we really should role play sometime soon. i've just gotten into Trigun, though i dont' know if you're into that fandom, and i plan on moving into others soon, so maybe furuba will not be the only option there. i try to be on aol every night, unless we have something going on, like tomorrow with my just graduated brother-in-law's birthday. i can't believe we're about the same age and he married my older sister. weird. they're expecting their second child, by the by.

so, after rambling on a bit, conclusion: I am going to apply to USC, expand my portfolio, apply for an internship and cross my fingers for it, go insane with that and work (maybe), and hopefully make it out to California again because i promised my little sister, Allison, that i'd take her to disneyland sometime this year.

Did it mean some whim i'd thought about? or did it mean something i've been thinking about doing for a while? if that's the case, there are many things i could put that to.
i know, placing trust in a fortune cookie.... kind of silly, but there you have it. sometimes inspiration comes from strange places.
so i set myself thinking abot what it is i've been seriously contemplating lately. what comes to mind is buying that video camera and getting a go with it. this means i also have to get a larger hard drive for my computer since it's mostly used up currently, and that's about 80 gigs of info. i need a bigger hard drive.
my parents, this morning, suggested taking some classes at the college in the communications department to get a feel for film and all that, but looking at what they have to offer me, i'm not convinced. at the same time, i keep thinking i have no vision. i keep comparing myself to the great movie moguls who are doing great and crazy things, like what i saw was going on with Twilight. )You can find out more on Stephenie Meyer's website.) and then i realized something, this morning actually, that i can't compare myself to someone like that, someone who has been doing this for a long time, who has probably had an excellent education in this kind of thing when i'm only starting out. the idea of doing something that big, eventually, does frighten me but also compels me to want to try.
i'm not going to give up, even though right now i feel trapped by the circumstances i find myself. work doesn't ever want to let go and i've had dreams of things again where i can't leave, even if i wanted to. right now, i'm not sure what i want in that area because i'm still exploring things here. i've also come to the conclusion that just because i feel i need to go out in film, it doesn't mean i have to head directly to film school right now. this could be a case of one of those "not yet" moments that i'm sent every now and again. what i probably need to do is focus on portfolio and networking. now if only jerry jewell would email me back. and no, i don't have his email address, just the knowledge that an email address of someone who knows him well has led to the potential forwarding of an email requesting the networking possibility. we'll see if it goes anywhere since my original contact into getting larger networking has somehow disappeared. maybe it will come back. i don't know. we'll see. so, if anyone out there knows someone famous who you wouldn't mind introducing me to for the purpose of networking in the industry, send them my way because i think that is the current path i need to trod. cross my fingers it works.
