Well not a whole lot's been going on. Finally breathed life into FuraFilms, and can proudly announce it's birth. Credit for the name goes to my friend Pete. Let me know if you want to help or be in any of our upcoming projects. Hopefully we'll have some stuff ready for passing around at the TriBeCa in NYC this May. I also hope to see some of you there.

Saw Rumble Fish the other night. Definitely a must-see despite all the cliched 80s stuff they threw in to make the movie sell. The entire movie is shot in black and white, and in place of special effects, most of the visuals are given their striking effects by simply heavy contrast between light and dark. Francis Ford Coppola is a genius.

Anyways, thanks to Vampriss-17 who favored two of my latest entries. I got something else interesting coming up. At least now I can work stuff into my schedule lol. The real pinnacle of my problems is a 20 min screenplay...based off of my friend's college experiences. I'm pretty much going to write extra and pick out the best scenes to put together. I'll post them here as I go, let me know what you think. Goodbye for now.

In every heart there is a room
A sanctuary safe and strong
To heal the wounds from lovers past
Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones
You answered me with no pretense
And still I feel I said too much
My silence is my self defense

And every time I’ve held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns
And so it goes, and so it goes
And so will you soon I suppose

But if my silence made you leave
Then that would be my worst mistake
So I will share this room with you
And you can have this heart to break

And this is why my eyes are closed
It’s just as well for all I’ve seen
And so it goes, and so it goes
And you’re the only one who knows

So I would choose to be with you
That’s if the choice were mine to make
But you can make decisions too
And you can have this heart to break

And so it goes, and so it goes
And you’re the only one who knows
The other great news is I recovered the 16 mm I shot last fall, sure enough still in the projection room at the filmo film festival. Hopefully, I'll have some more fiction up soon. Until next time. This new take is a hope to reinvent the writing style of the writers of the now obscure pulp magazines...looking for something with the intensity of "Sin City." So I'll leak out this much about my upcoming project. I'll definitely slowly unveil it here in chapters, kind of make it out to be a cross between mystery and sleaze novels with the element of fractured urban legends...so far it's three story concepts I've figured out that somehow intertwine: a prison guard with a foot fetish, a murdered police woman, a smog control project, and a black market of human organs. The first vignette for "Pleasure Dome" will be up this week with a little luck.

Again, modern me and contemporary me clash again. Some parts of the limpet mythology that I wrote yrs ago impressed me as original, some didnt. Here's another example, though I kind of like the pacing to it.

CHAPTER IV
BONDAGE ON THE GREEN RILLS

The bright red letters that dyed the dusty paper dug fear into Gandidan`s eyes. Across it was a bloody red splatter.
GANDIDAN HUGO BUCKTHORN______
YOU HAVE BEEN PLACED ON CHARGE BY HIS CRUELTY
__THE DARK KING SEREGAUR. YOU SHALL SERVE ON CORDONS IN
A GOBLIN DUNGEON PRIOR TO AWAITING TRIAL, IF YOUR GUESTS
HAVE NO USE. WE WILL COME THROUGH THE HILLS__MONDAY EVENING AFTER SOMMERS' SEND. COMFORTING, FRATERNISING WITH AND HOUSING YOUR LORDS' ENEMIES IS THEREBY A CRIME UNDER DARK COUNCIL. WHEN THE INFANTRY COMES,BUCKTHORN, THERE WILL BE NO ESCAPE.
Groke Toadhorn, GENERAL OF THE GOBLIN INFANTRY
Gamalieland his friends watched helplessly as Gandidan`s face turned cold pale and icicles of sweat dripped from his face. "Oh no," he choked, "they`ve finally found me! Now they`ll come and drive me off to prison camp where I`ll slave like an ox and then be starved as if I was nothing more than a pesky marmot!" The dwarves and limpets ignored him, nor had they heard him well
enough to. (Tatharsul had been found by now on the night that the original company had arrived. He was staying with Gandidan for an extended period of time in one of the other rooms.) The old limpet`s hands dried and shook. He simply felt that he wasn`t ready to be tossed off to Gorgroth and sealed into a dark, dirty dungeon where he would never remember what it felt like to be showered in beams of sunlight. Now, he hadn`t much time to live in freedom.
Sommers' Send Eve came and passed. Back in Limpeton, Kale, and Stinkhorn the limpets partied mirthfully. Barrels of syrupy brown birch and cream sasparilla were poured. Firecrackers were lit and burst into glittering rain. Gaffer Iluvekel Buckthorn, the successor to Gandidan and cousin of Gamaliel, sat in the Gold Wyvern Tavern and brought a crowd to drink rich red brew and listen to more tales of swords and werewolves. Fresh salted flounder, crab, oysters, and trout were hawked from town to town. Limpets did nothing at the end of June except go to parties, laugh, and give and receive presents. They forgot about dwarves, and the dwarves in Wicketwood forgot about them. Seregaur was never mentioned in their talks and greetings along the bright summer roads. Ravenkraaf came to the parties in his wagon with colored pigeons, Curdie Barkers, and Elf Howlers and plenty of fireworks that he had made on his own. Sorrel End was no longer what they all talked about from miles away, and they never looked at Comb Hill, where the home laid. The suttle had been charred to the ground, and everything in it. Ulfgloin looked down from Comb Hill with a face hidden in shadows. Behind him was a party of the Goblin scouts, who lined across the brown lawn with the same long faces.
It blows deep through the woodlands,
As a meadow that winds unend.
In the trees, hides the watcher
The rocks and mountains have treasure that on the maps remains unread,
And tomorrow, is yet to be said.

Ebon ravens fly through red shores,
Guiding the traveler on the ground
Its heavy wings flutter through the water and sound
From red thundersheets in the mountains,
Eagles fly overhead
And tomorrow, is yet to be said.

The river churns the fall of waters
To flow through the seas
The hills coil herdgrasses of yellow foliage,
And tomorrow is yet to be said.

Autumn leaves flow through the dark hither
The wind carries them as moths of fire
Trees hoist walls
Made from meadows' thread
And tomorrow is yet to be said.

The hyacinthing grasses breeze through
Seas of tithing red,
The loess sand erodes from Rivergate..
And tomorrow..is yesterday.
The night of Sommers' Send Eve started peacefully. The company could smell dew drops and hear spring beetles from their windows. Gandidan circled the dark house nervously and with the same waning candle, with wax dripping. Several times, the sticky patches of wax hardened on his hands. Then he would curse and continue pacing the traveller`s house. His limpet ears picked up every drip-drop through the haven, which often creaked as it setttled in the night. However, he never could hear the crunching of bone along a trail as evil sounding footsteps approached the Stay. As soon as they could be heard, two glaring red and angry eyes stared into the door screen. It all happened too quickly. The door screen shrieked out in pain with the sound of ripping and the snap of a powerful leather whip. It made a terrible noise, l...

The first two chapters were written when I was in this overly pretentious phase of writing...and using a thesaurus, eventually morphed most of my words into being either laughable or meaningless in their context. Chapter 3 gives you a break from all that as I started to go into simpler words and images that made sense. I started writing this around February of 1999, and in many ways put all the summer images in as a hopes to relieve myself of a SAD-induced bad mood I was suffering at the time. The poem about Gandidan was contributed by my sister.

CHAPTER III
THE HOUSE OF GANDIDAN

The golden grasses of the Sun Fields were bustling with joy after the inky daunting clouds had passed just
as strangely as they had floated overhead. Limpets leaped around happily as the rowdy celebrations and
merry noise continued. Tom Thistletweed glinted out from a candy striped tent flap and watched the figure
of Gamaliel1 sneak his way through the Square. Gamaliel was draped completely in a brown wool robe and his face was hidden by a star blue hood. Then the eavesdropper threw his head back into the tent and tossed the curtain shut with his webbed limpet hand.
"The Durelein seems very bent lately," he whispered over to Bill Stickers. Bill thoughtfully grasped his coffee cup`s ceramic handle with three fingers closed tight (because limpet-hands are webbed.)
Then he replied irritably: "All rich folk are, Mr.Thistletweed. They can fool about as much as they well likes, without their lords or King Valruin to tell them to hurry and go off to the lake to catch marketstock or go off to the cat tail fields and then bake loaves from what they cut." Tom glared over to the little oak bench-table where Stickers sat, ignorantly sipping his red bean coffee. He had bought a barrel of the beans from Farmer Ragwort, who was another strange limpet that showed up every now and then in Limpeton`s townsquare, especially in the summer. He dealt with the tarmoa2 people. A tarmoa is a short (yet stalwart) creature that looks like a little penguin. They`re seen most often at early dawn break, and when they`re seen, they`re usually polishing mushrooms or collecting water. No one ever dares to attack a tarmoa. If they do, the tarmoa bites them and runs away. They never see the same one again. Sure enough, Ragwort had visited the tarmoas at their burrows and traded with them, often for coffee beans, berries, nuts, and from them he received the vicious, black and white guard rats that he still keeps to defend his property. Limpeton villagers claim that they ate several limpets who snuck on Ragwort`s property to steal kumquats. All limpets like to eat kumquats, especially limpet children. Most just think that this story was told to frighten them. Most animals enjoy the taste of limpets anyway, claiming their meat tastes like mussel.
"It`s the stories I`ve heard that makes it even queerer than Gamaliel`s appearance alone. Gaffer Iluvekel told me quite a tale, something about all these dwarf folk up in Durelein`s hut, and some wolf wizard too."
Bill Stickers almost spit his coffee on the tent-shadowed ground. "Fenlieb? Here in Limpeton?" then his face turned a sickly red, "so that`s why every thing`s went so queer. Always some wizard`ll show and never have enough thought to leave us all well alone."

Gamaliel entered his burlap hut, Sorrel3. The dwarves had been rowdy all night with their long, roaring songs and roasts. Gamaliel could tell from the choking, sugary charcoal smell of roast rock hog. "Let Limpeton keep suspicions," he grumbled, "Kanodraug will take care of anyone who wants to eavesdrop on me." He was right. Kanodraug and his pack surrounded Sorrel End as a defense ring.
Mithdil greeted him in the thatched wheat hall with a twinkle of his green eyes, "Neldornar, the wolf medium has heard that Fenlieb is believed to have come back and brought us word of the Dark King, although he hasn`t." As Mithdil said this, animal claws scraped the door`s wood rungs. A rustle of the roof`s burlap canopy echoed through the center hall. The door thrust open. Two silver timberwolves crashed through the water warped door. Ulfgloin screamed for mercy. The wolves surrounded him shortly, gnashing their bone bleached teeth.
He screamed again. "Never hurt anyone, I didn`t. I wasn`t spying on you Mr. Gamaliel! Tell these beasts to release me!"
"Release him!" Throtro bellowed from behind the salt shaft door. The first wolf locked his jaws around one of his lanky hobgoblin legs and threw him before Gamaliel and Mithdil.
"You slimy little snail," the dwarf stared down and shouted at him in his squeaky midget voice, "and why shouldn`t Kanodraug`s pack crush your bones?"
Ulfgloin got up and brushed dirt off of his cloaks. "Doe...

Here's a perfect example of my influence from Tolkien. Among other pieces of the history of Ligeia is a play i wrote under the name of Gamaliel's uncle, a known limpet bard and historian, concerning the backstory of Feneeid, not unlike Gollum and Smeagol. I have reconsidered changing Feneeid's origin.

During the Mammoth Wars that are suggested through the work, one of the enemy kings fled his palace by night and hid in a small town nearby, acting as a bartender, though by night he planned strategies of attack and had bodyguards relay the commands to his troops, though many believed him dead. While bartending, he struck a deal with some strange traders from the North who provided him with grubworms to breed into thrulls, beasts similar to those commanded by Ligeia's original despot, Gaiea. After raising them for extended periods of time, they eventually overpowered and murdered the king. His enemies found the tavern in ruins and the king brutally slain, and declared victory without realizing the far greater danger the king released upon the land. Feneeid is the only thrull to survive the war, but anyways =

CHAPTER II
THE AMNESTY OF FENEEID

Deep below in the melancholy, dark caverns of Lithkemen did Lord Seregaur wait. As the clouds loomed between the hour, Ligeia would be plunged into the brink of night and brewing storm. He entertained himself with the hate that caused him to destroy this end of the realm, and turn it to what he believed was his fortress, to mock the rest of the Nerilika wizardry.
"The last of the silgonds reside within my cairn," he laughed. At least he believed they were with him. Only those who fought for evil`s prevalence would settle in such a barren land of brimstone and waste, and never, if they could help it, would venture into his house. As denizens of the dark, they would take orders from him, and many of them they never complained about. The dunes of Cindar, which Seregaur had placed his home upon, crawled with alg toads and dune centipedes and other slimy and disgusting creatures. Deep, tithing pits grew into the desert of ash, and there hid danger inside each one. The war cries of goblins loomed over the seas of cerise sands, awaiting to stake this important day that evil arises. Yet, as all of the nasty things celebrated, the caverns of Lord Seregaur remained dormant with the day's chores.
Ulfgloin, a troublesome hobgoblin servant mingled about the halls. The Dark King didn`t trust him. There were too many hobgoblins who would turn to the sides of their lord`s enemies. They had a weakness for treasure and tools, being easily bribed. He softly sang a goblin poem in a low voice while he hurried away from his quarters and prepared to feed the Great Worm. Wasteful creature! He humbled. He left his master`s loch, and walked into the tide of copper sand. The grains climbed over his boots and the stench of sour bread and grubs lingered.
Kneeling in the desert sands he waited, "Worm of Saurhoth, Seregaur`s beastlord, I humbly summon you." The dormant grounds shook with debris rock flailing. Up rose a gray bulbous head and feelers, and the rest of a segmented body. Ulfgloin laughed at the sight of the sandworm`s rising.
"Eat, Eat, my nonesuch!" he called out, brushing beads of sweat away from his leathery, warted skin and coarse hair. Antennae lowered into the tin bucket of maggots. "Our entity lord shall rule tonight and he will need you to help him crush those dirty little dwarves," the sandworm snorted, each of its body rings inhaling and breathing out air. The pygmy hobgoblin brushed sand away from his tunic, "What do you plan to do to that filth slurping woodcutter Throtro? The one who killed King Gnerax, the one who drove the ogres out of the Sarpadian Kingdoms in viodmar mountains deep?
"The Dark King deserves that city," Saurhoth roared, "I will crush that thieving, murderer of a dwarf!" Gnerax was a terrible ogre king who promoted violence and gluttony. The Great Realm has been much better ever since he was slain in the Battle of the Sarpadian Mountains. After Fenlieb`s brother, Ravenkraaf and his company of dwarves, gnomes, and orcs had thrown ogres out of Ligeia, realm folk walked the land without fear."The silgonds shall soon meet," the sandworm sensed.
Well, thus far I have been unsuccessful in retrieving my art portfolio from my old hs. irony is that it was the only thing i was expecting to find. i didn't plan on stumbling over "The Chicken Keeper" or ever unlocking "The Limpet's Stone," so I guess two out of three ain't bad. lol. as i offered you all the chapters, I figure I'll upload them here in journal form rather than soil my gallery with them. I only got as far as chapter four when writing between Nov. 1998 - April 1999. The quality of writing is that of a 14 yr old me easily swayed and corrupted by such influences as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and the Bone comics (though I had only gotten as far as Book I), so please if u could criticize constructively on the original elements to the mythology (which engenders the world of Earl and Emma in The Chicken Keeper) rather than flame my ass on how laughably bad and lifted some of it may be.

Here's the first chapter. Hasn't been touched since Nov. 1998, tho that's not exactly a good thing. Again, the quality of writing isn't the greatest, don't even know where to start repairing it. so, "enjoy," lol. Tell me what u think.

Chapter I
Limpeton

Many suns aback, there streams the white frothing River Belegkel, which churns and ripples through emerald spring seas of forest. On those carpeted, mossy grounds of deep summer pine there live the Limpets. They are fairly small river people, and fearful out of their towns. They mostly fish, laugh and eat and tell of the wizards and dragons who have saved and shambled Ligeia in the past, for that was the great realm they settled in with a number of other mythical beings, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, elves, and all those other creatures that you think are make-believe. The country of Limperiador, which they inhabited was quiet and peaceful, the rest of the Great Realm is a vast and dangerous place for these creatures, who by evolution are the lake-elves.
Today casts a blazing summer in Limperiador. The wooded oaks rose in a grey asunder. The red winds beat down on the forest. The rivershore soon brought an ebb tide of limpets. They move around noisily over the dank shore of mud, preparing to cast their fibered nets from the shore and into the gravel bars below.
This day in Ligeia is June 17, the first day of a miscellany of fairs held throughout the Hinterlands. Those days meant feasts, firecrackers, epics and laughing for the realm-dwellers. Just as they move, they are preparing for the festival, whereas there are other limpets who have other things to do before the colorful flags are hung.
"Tatharsul!" A deep shout rang through the village of Limpeton. In the feverish congregation at the shore, it has been left barren and coveting. There is a dead stillness of the sunder dawn. Only that sole voice is heard, belonging to Gamaliel Durelein, a limpet of great opulence, all of it was earned off of his proliferated salt mills. He was however, unlike human masteries in the way that he was generous in both land and money. As other limpets do, he was preparing to leave his limpet-hut and help with the purse nets. Limpets, or lake-elves built mossy huts in the wood shores, not far from River Belegkel. They trapped a hearth of temperate air and meant comfort. Clay brick stoves were often kept open and let off a great deal of swarthy smoke for heat. The limpet-huts were not as barren as their name sounds. Bountiful jewelry amulets hang from the burlap and sutter walls of each dwelling. There were burrows in the holdings that hoarded gold coins and food. Most limpets come to inherit a number of riches because most of them will live for over one hundred years unless they are slain in battle, which of course causes their families to be ages old. Gamaliel`s family of Dureleins had a poor despairing history, although nearly as ancient in yore as the ravens. Only Gamaliel had the power to change Durelein life forever. Tatharsul is a close friend of Gamaliel, however he is poor himself and spent his life from childhood onward as a beggar, however from this epic you will come to know he became the king of beggars. The morning sank into the riveting crocus thickets as Gamaliel scanned the horizon, rolling beyond the Limpeton Wall. He gave a sigh of grief, realizing he was alone.
"Tatharsul!" he repeated as he cupped his mouth, sounding louder than before. An echo rang back to him after penetrating the citadel, "are you by the river already?" Eerie wind howled against the old dirt roads. Gamaliel shuddered in fear of being alone and in disappointment. "I`m not calling again!" he snorted. He walked through the village gardens with hopes to relieve himself. He often felt that paranoid fear of being alone without any reasons. Cold air breezed on him as he walked through the garden's stone studde...

Well, home for the spring break tho no trips to Ft. Lauderdale for me. I have to divide time between studying for my psyc exam next week, putting my speech together and looking for a summer job.

On a happier note, I'm back on the net and in action. Finally have "Shores of Tomorrow" out and successfully unlocked what exists of "The Limpet's Stone," a novel using the realm introduced in "The Chicken Keeper" that I wrote between 1998-99. Hopefully by Monday I'll have found my portfolio from hs when i go back up to visit, and will be able to scan everything in, if it's still there.

For those of you who may have wondered how I coped being internet-deprived for 3 days, I went to a Turkish film discussion Wednesday night, successfully finding inspiration, from the Middle Eastern film genre which I never really explored. The film, "Yol" made in the early 1980s during a military coup d'etat of Turkey, tells the story of the oppression and discrimination faced by 5 Kurdish prisoners granted a ten day leave from jail. The film's director and screenwriter essentially directed from prison, where he served bc of his political views. Overall, the movie had a very documentary-like feel to it, being shot on low grade film, while shifting from the landscape to the character's internal thoughts and memories.
My internet died last night sadly, and didnt come back up yet, probably a fault of the comp itself. As of now, I am typing to you from a comp in the campus library. Hopefully I'll manage to get it reworked this "spring break" and bring you the conclusion of the nameless epic, which thus far is being rapidly worked on. Hopefully I'll have it for Friday night once I return home. That along with some other projects, japanese ink style drawings among them will hopefully be added to my site, if i can recover my old portfolio, along with the limpet fragments, again, if i can get them. please don't be pissed off at me bc i havent looked at or critiqued your work. i'll get around to that if nothing else on friday.
Thought last week would be quieter than it was, but no, I never get time to write, or think. I say semi because i'll be painstakingly turning out "Shores of Tomorrow" as ideas come to me..sorry I've kept my more faithful fans of this series in suspense for so long. However, not much new stuff will be out while "Shores" is on its way. Saw a Macbeth performance Thursday, the "Passion" this weekend, and attending a dialogue on the movie this week as well as a lecture on Feltville towards the end of the month...somehow I'll cram free reading into there when not reading chapters for psychology class or throwing out my spring break hunting for a new job..seems like my time off is the busiest. lol.
as always, ideas and criticism on my stuff is always welcome. i still need a name for the nameless epic, so tell me what you think.
Just got back, in the mental sense, from a nice strenuous weekend of writing on Plato's theory of "knowledge vs. true opinion," and submitted my inflated paper today after a weekend i thought i'd never escape from. I'm spending the day recovering, and inspiring myself to return to work on " Shores of Tomorrow," ironically, tomorrow. Should be up by Friday. My workload is consistently low till the end of the month, then low again for April so it being that spring has sprung, my site will bloom with the new life.

As for news on my work, I've reconsidered several plot distractions for the chicken keeper, adding in a werefox midsummer circus, a stay at a strange convent, uncle gandidan from " the limpet's stone" making a cameo, a dragon hunt, a battle with giant hogs, and a returning character from ruthelford's past, though i have little ideas as to what i should do for a skeleton plot that propels Lady Emma, the knights, and Earl Roget to make their quest in the first place. So, again, as my Russian cult and civ prof. says: wave at me, say something to me.

In the mean time, I hope to return to several prose pieces i long abandoned with my hiatus from writing in '01 and should have them up, along with my art portfolio from hs that i left behind. should acquire it again on my visit that i'll make this spring break when not looking for work and scan all that in.
I. Reasons For My Leaving
III.A Dying Tree
V. Shores of Tomorrow? (currently the title for part V which is still under production)

The first three chapters of The Chicken Keeper have finally been uploaded..in their preserved form. The story is set in the mythical, medieval region of Tetuhives on the isle of Icanthria. Territory and mythology from the story is crossed over in a number of my works, including the Limpet epic which is mentioned, and the stories of Marquis Zakar. Hopefully, based on feedback, The Chicken Keeper will be expanded, consisting of a more complex plot and a longer, more dangerous odyssey for its protagonists: the chicken keeper Earl Roget, his talking dog Ruthelford, and three bumbling knights..but for now, read and tell me what you think

couldn't believe my luck yesterday when i put a disk in the comp only to discover the fully complete 26 page epic novel i wrote back in 1999 that i thought was lost forever along with a million other short story fragments...The Chicken Keeper. Dunno if i should post it as it is on the site or revise it first bc it definitely needs some work, so wave at me and tell me what you think...might be better off peer edited. can't say the same for the first chapters of The Limpet's Stone...lost that and the whole Limpet mythology...oh well...as far as i know.

the fourth part of the untitled series is currently under production...should have it up in a little while...the title for part four is "City of Echoes."
