That's right y'all! I'm taking a stab at commissioning for the very first time. I'm doing this for two reasons:

1. To earn some cash till I get me a new job and

2. To force myself to be more productive. I'm not sure how many folks would actually be interested in this but I figured it would be worth a shot.

Now let me get this one thing out of the way right now... I'm not doing any porn. Sorry to those that might have had their hopes up. But yeah, I've thought about this and don't expect anything more adult than what you've seen from me so far. The only nudity you can expect to see is the "cartoon kind of nudity" where there are no clothes but nothings really shown (think Bugs Bunny).

I'm basically doing simple character drawings. Here's the pricing scale, hopefully it's to your liking:

Hey folks, I'm just letting you know that while school and work has been taking up an enormous amount of my time lately I have been working a bunch of new art during what free time I do have including some very late trades.

I still need to find some parts to my scanner that went missing during the move to the new place but I might see if I can find an alternative place to scan my stuff like Kinko's or something.

In about 3-4 weeks however, summer break will be here and I'll have a lot more time for arting, since I can't really afford summer school right now.

So when I'm not doing the job thing I'll be trying my best to make up for the serious lack of updates. I apologize for that btw.

Till then I have a couple more colored pieces of other folks art to upload, so hopefully that will tide you all over for the time being.

Right now it's 11 o' clock at night. I'm by myself, in a car, with my laptop, in a Staples parking lot. Why? Because it's the only way I can get online right now.

I'll spare you guys the grisly details but me and my family recently had to leave our home of the the past 5 years or so and are staying at a friends house till we can get a new apartment.

Our friend doesn't have any kind of internet connection so I'm just having to use whatever wi-fi hot spots I can find. So yeah...

I wanted just one thing this Christmas and that was a DS... and I got it. Hooray! So far I have New Super Mario Bros., Sonic Rush Adventure, the first Phoenix Wright game and Starfox Command.

Any other good DS games out there I'm missing out on? Also since the DS can play Gameboy Advance games I'd like to try out some of those too, I'd imagine most of them would be pretty cheap too.

Since these art sites are full of gamers I figured you guys would know, plus I know you all have excellent taste. ^^

I have all of you to thank as well because you guys have inspired and supported me so much I can't even put into words how grateful I am. Your patience and kind words are deeply appreciated. Thank you.

There's been some ups and downs but through it all I believe I've become a better person for every experiences I've had. My goals actually seem possible now and the future is looking bright.

I really want to make a name for myself around here and kind of carve out a place for myself among the community and I feel like I'm improving a little bit everyday. A while back someone brought up the possibility of me opening up commissions, and to be honest the thought had never even entered my mind.

I do the occasional request sure, but actually getting paid to draw something for someone... I never even considered it. I guess part of that is because I still don't think my art is up to the level where I could call myself charging people for a drawing I did.

Still I would like you guys to weigh in on this and tell me what you think. I have no idea what I would/should charge or how I would go about things even though I've purchased a few commissions myself.

Just tell me what you think cause I may do a "test run" somewhere down the line...

So here's the deal people, I need help coloring my latest deviation of Callie Briggs from Swat Kats. It's right here [link]

While I have the base colors down I really want to do some nice looking stuff to this to make it look even better. Any tips on creating nice lighting/shading effects as well as tips for coloring hair/fur and creating realistic shine for eyes, glasses and buttons would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind I'm only working with photoshop elements and don't own a tablet or anything. That being said any advice you guys can give will be a big help. I really want to get beter at coloring so if anyone can help me it's the folks her on DA. Thanks in advance everybody.

Which is strange when you consider the fact that I seem to be more popular there. More often than not I would get more comments, views and favs there than on Deviant Art. I have like twice as many people watching me there too. And I believe I know why.

You see I've had an account here on DA since September 25, 2006, but I didn't really become a member of this site until more than a year later. That's when I submitted my first deviation. Until November of last year I was invisible. I would fav and watch and not leave a single comment, journal or response.

I was pretty much a ghost who wasn't seen or heard by anyone and that was my fault. I didn't even have an avatar for crying out loud. Once I started submitting art I tried harder to be social but the fact is it was hard to go from being a troll to an artist who actually contributed something to the site.

I did things right with FA, as soon as I joined I made a serious effort to update with art often, to get to to know my fellow artists, and just be a part of the site in general. I wish I had done that here. As a result I became more popular there and to be honest Deviant Art took a back seat. I wasn't nearly a sociable here I was there for a long time. Which is why I feel like FA being down has been a blessing in disguise.

It forced me to focus all my attention here and I feel like I've kind of reintroduced myself to the site and the people here. As a result I've been getting a lot more activity going on and I'm happy about that. It's time I put this site first for a while because it was the people here on this site that inspired me to pick up a pencil and draw again after not creating any art for so long. And I thank you all for that. So please allow me to do what I should have done here nearly two years ago.

For the most part a lot of things feel the same, although I'm still getting used to a couple of things. Journals, looking at peoples galleries, commenting and submitting don't seem all that different to me. Which is good.

The one things I'm still getting used to is the message center. I'm not gonna lie, I prefer the old style over this new one. I liked being able to just scroll down and immediately see my newest favs, comments and submissions from people on my friend list without having to click all these unnecessary buttons. And they are unnecessary.

In fact I feel like an upgrade period was unnecessary. There was nothing wrong with the old layout so I kind of feel like this new look was done just so the the people running the show can kind of pat themselves on the back on how many new features the site has. Whatever. In a couple of weeks everybody will be used to it anyway. (But if there was a button I could press to go back to the old style I would)

In the end though at least DA is trying to do something to make the site better which is more than I can say for some other art sites I can think of. [link] I bet if it ever gets online again it still won't have a search engine...

I'm still pretty new to this whole digital coloring stuff but I think I'm improving. This is mainly because of all the useful tutorials I've come across on this site. If you do nothing else with your life GO SEE S-M 3!!! See it twice or thrice!!!

It's the best movie ever made by anyone about anything. It was even worth the little stupid kids in the audience making comments about what was gonna happen next and the full grown morons (including the full grown morons I went to the movie with) making jokes that they thought were sooo freaking funny and missing something that happened and getting completly lost on what happened in the story.

You paid your money to see the movie and waited in line for it. You'd think once the movie started people would y'know, shut up and watch the movie or something. The whole experience would have been a million times better if I could have seen it in a private theater by myself. That would have been perfect.

I feel the same way about going to the movies that Randall from "Clerks" feels about working in a video store. It would be great if it weren't for the people.
