I got my new computer a few weeks ago, it's this cute monster computer, cba to tell all the exact specs, but a little sum:

So anyways, apart from that I got my new 24 inch monitor yesterday and i can tell you its #$!@#$!@*99 huge O_O
It actually gave me a headache when i first installed it due to the fact it was so close to my head, and I couldnt even see what was going on so I had to use the new IKEA commercial and replace everything on my desktop to fit, which was a close call

Anyways, It's awesome,a full HD monitor, 1900x1200, and gonna attach my xbox360 to it soon as well..

When I check the date of my previous journal, and especially it's contents I'm ashamed of myself and hereby are my apologies.

First of all I've totally forgot DA and terragen, and secondly my interests just werent quite into it as you might have guessed.

I did try out this new Terragen 2 crap, but it was all technical and crap so I ignored that right away haha.

Next week I'm getting my new computer, this gaming-beast of a thing, and I think I might actually try to do some terragen on it again, but only if I can find a crack for it again (sshh I didn't say this, and if you have it, please note me

I've just finished through thousands of pieces of art, comments, journals, polls and notes sent to me and I must say I would like to thank many of you for the o so many fav's I've still received as of recent .

But as I already said, I might think of trying to do some new Terragen work on my new computer, but this time I'd like to experiment with it alot in Photoshop, mostly to improve some of my skills, but also because I'm doing a study at school which involves media design, like websites, commercials, advertisements and other media..stuff .

So I'd love to hear from all of you again, how you've all been doing, advices on my new work, and random off-topic nonsense that suits me most of all!

Right...

I am going to try to get my rusty ass back into some terragening and TBH dkffy, i cba to do some CSS , I just started some study and had to do 8 weeks of nothing but CSS just for school, meh!

So.. Terragen, yeh.. Good ol' days, i guess we'll see if i still have what it takes, i hope i do, will take some time though...

In the meantime i'm now watching through all my 1,5k messages, 850 devs, 650 messages approx... will take a while, favving here and there.

Glad i got that free week of subscription to browse through my devs , really makes it easier.

Right.. to cut the crap, i've still been busy with world of warcraft, that game is way to addictive, been playing it for over a year... wish i'd be focussing on school as much as well.

Anyways, RL update:

I've been to a public-open day at a new sort of study in the netherlands, only in its kind in the country as of now: Internation Game Architecture and Design.

I think the name speaks for itself. I've applied and I hope i get chosen (just 60 people will be admitted, so to be sure i also applied to another study without a fixed number of people able to join).

I'm looking forward to this alot, but it's best to keep my hopes down for the best of it.

In school i've been doing ok, at least better than last year that is

Ok well, i'm somewhat back... in a way... a little.... hmm yes

Ya ok, anyways, my new computer just arrived, and damn its fast

I've started picking up terragen again, and been trying to relearn some basics before uploading another piece, i want my works to be of a better quality this time, and not just like it and upload it, i REALLY have to love it before i even upload it

The weather out here had a sudden flip as well, it went from 10" of snow and -15/20 last week, to a sudden +20 today and just sunny , it feels like summer suddenly arrived and i love it, makes me happy and hyper, woopwoop

The actual reason i'm back is because my wow-subscription (free month ) expired, and the game cards wont be available until the 26th of march, which is this saturday, so i cant play for a week, but i got my new computer, so i have plenty of other things i can do to enjoy myself, and make a nice little comeback at DA.

Well i have some good news and bad news, bad news first

I pre-ordered world ofw arcraft collectors edition, but the shop seemed to be crappy meaning that half of the people who ordered didnt get it, including me, so i had to hop down to a shop in town, which luckily had 1 copy left

Anyways im playing it alot now ^^

More bad news, i destroyed my keyboard, YAY, i spilled like a whole glass of lipton ice tea over it and suddenly it started dying on me, i think its some kind of keyboard poison
First the l stopped working, then the s and like an hour later half of my keyboard didnt work anymore and my computer started beeping very loudly and stuff, i found some old keybaord on the attic, but it only had usb1 lol, so we called my aunt and luckily she had a keyboard which actually had usb1 but some connection thingy to convert to usb2 , yay, keyboard

Good news :

I got world of warcraft, yay
I showed mom how crappy our computer is using wow, because it freezes non stop so we get a new computer after all these years (i hope )

I dont even know if i spelled it right lol, who cares
anywaayyy, WoW (World of Warcraft) is coming out tomorrow, and 1 month free subscription is included, meaning that i'll be at least 1month not very active on DA, or will probably lack any social life at all

Secondly, due to the enormously bad timing of the WoW release, i have to spend the other free time i have (e.g. when my sis wants to get on the computer, BEEHOTCH) on my homework.
I actually havent made my homework in a long long time, school was easy so far and i also got this far with doing practically nothing, but that time is over, my grades arent really great and my final exams are in just 3 months (as is my birthday, about 2 weeks before , yayness) anyways, that means i really need to study alot, and make my homework if i even want to know what the teachers/tests are about (which didnt happen at the last schoolexams, giving me grades of about 3 at maths and physics lol, my worst even )

So there ya go, a long crappy explanation for my following absense (plz some1 tell me if im spelling it ok ) and err, well i'll just try and well hmmm.... forgot what to say (always write my journals as i'm thinking stuff, so if you'd be here i'd be talking to you in this way) really? REALLY!

Oi people,

well i decided i wanted to go a year to canada next year....

Went like this : i've always wanted to go to the US, Canada, Finland, Russia, Japan or Australia....

But i dont like a very hot climate, or a rainy one, so the US and Aus were excluded..... Next i found it that japan was damn expensive and that i dont really speak japanese, it appears they dont really speak english over there....

Then only Finland, Canada and Russia were left, but because i wanna stay there for a year, russia was excluded as well, cuz its too poor....
Finland just seemed to close to my home as well, so i decided i want to spend a year in canada, the problem is, i have no idea what i should do there and where to stay lol

I still need to figure that out, but the educationthingy i want to do (Game Design) starts not this year, but the next, so i could do some similar education for 4 years and then do game design, but i could also spend a year in other countries to improve my english and see some of the world

Any1 have any ideas?

Yes happy new year, i've fallen to the lameness as well lol, anyway, at the start of this new year, i just realised i've been a member of DA for almost 7 months now! and it has been a great year.

Hammerz' Art History

The reason i actually joined DA was as a matter of fact no one else than *alyn , yes indeed
I was browsing a bit during school, looking for space images and i saw some extremely nice space art, by alyn, which i did not know at the time , i showed my friends (including ~San1ty ) and since that day we checked that page again each day, and then the arrival came, which was the final kick in my ass, i joined DA the same day and started spacing away myself as well, which resulted in a "not-that-bad-for-the-time-being-space-t hingy" created in : Paintshop pro

I found out psp sucked, but that i sucked as well.

Ever further back, a magazine i was a member of had an article about terragen about 3 years ago, i dled it, and terragened a bit, me and a friend always held some contests about which was the best lol, i forgot about terragen for a few years, but then i saw the landscapes by alyn again, so i decided to go terragenic
After a few months i did some attempts at space again, but i left it all behind until now.
To see my progress over the past few months just visit my gallery, not a must, but just a nice little image-show of my work in the last 7 months.

Things i wish to accomplish in 2005

Well i have already accomplish all of my old goals this year, so i'll get that list up right here :

-These goals are accomplished
-These arent

500 Pageviews
A collab with a great spaceartist, so i can learn a bit/lot about getting those great space scenes
A collab with a great Terragator (Terragen person lol), to learn more about terragen and ofcourse get great pieces

So my new goals for this year :

Get 10k pageviews
Do a 3 way collab (me and 2 other artists)
Expand my collab list from 8 to 20
Get 150+ watchers

I think i still have alot of work to do to complete these goals, but i think it will succeed!

It's over, finally, i really got sick of those annoying christmas songs.
Like , you ehar them once, its ok, makes you feel christmassy, then you hear it again, no problem, but after 3 times you get pretty sick of it, and i heard that goddamn mariah carey over 100 times >< aaarrghh i hate that woman....
Anyway, the happy parts of christmas:

Saturday 25th :
At 3pm we head over to our family in breda, about a 1,5h drive, once we get there we just sit around, listening to my mom and aunt blabbing about...
6pm : getting very hungry, need food, got bored and went up to play on the gamecube : F1
8pm : MUST HAVE FOOD

5mins later : Stef dinner time!
YES, almost fell down the stairs running down

9:30pm : my dear little stomach filled right up to the top, yommy, chomp
10:30pm: played F1 2002 all night, finished a total of 3 total (!!!) grand prix' , imola , monza and silverstone, all playing raikkonen
11pm : finally on our way home, delayed like 20 mins, cuz it was foggy at first and then started to freeze, meaning alot of ice on our car so we almost crashed
approx 0:30 am :
Home sweet home, turned on tv and watched Red Bull x-fighters Freestyle motorcross
Drank some sweet little red bullys myself.
2:00am bedtime , me go sleepy sleepy

Sunday 26th:
Did nothing all day
6Pm : SPARE RIBS!!! (think its cold pigbackribs or something like that in english)
ate till i really couldnt get anything else in, i just love my ribs...

Monday 27th:
Need to order me some fireworks, damn i'm late

Yay, my collab with is finally done, after 3 months, v1 was abandoned after about 2 months, and the last few weeks we worked alot on the final version

(me ^^) , did the terragen, i rendered at the giant size of 10000x7500 , but it turned out very well.

a bite more story behind the collab

Well, first i met him by asking some stuff about space art, cuz he's just a magnificent space-artist, really amazing, and we talked a bit, because we were both dutch, got friends a bit, and decided to do a collab..

The first version was with a grassy landscape and some space, but ~DKF just lost the inspiration, and the terragen just sucked ass lol, so i decided to render something new, and it turned out alot better than the previous version, and it was a bit more appropriate (really dunnow how you spell that) , for this time of year, he agreed, and after some of my infamous whining , he started working, and it just turned out great ^^.

Then i decided i still had to finish my collab with ~DKF which has been standing for about 3 months now , so i rendered a great piece imo, and tried to render something again for DA, but it just wouldn't work out.

After a while dkf showed me a preview, and with all the space it inspired me to do space again, the only thing i really couldn't do about space were nebulae, so i practised alot, and finally got a the hang of it (well a little bit).

So expect to see some more nebulae in my upcoming art..

I've been to paris this weekend with school , even though it had nothing to do with school, but it was arranged that way, anyway , i was in paris, and it was great , very tiring though.

Up at 5 am on saturday, walk through paris all day, get drunk and very wasted at 3 am on sunday, sleep at 5am, get up again at 7 am, walk another day, like a bag of poop, and get home at 10pm again, tiring, but great.

We went to see the sacre cour (dunno how you write it), drank some red bull, which i tried a bit earlier, but one of my friends told me it was illegal in france, damn those french >< i need red bull , but i drank it anyway, we went to the montmartre thingy after that, with thousands of painters.

Underground again, went near the louvre and went "shopping" after that, just wander around paris a bit, get some food at maccy d's , and we had to meet again at the louvre, so we got there, but like an hour early, so we wandered of again, to the obelisk at place de la concorde, which is in a straight line between the louvre and the arc de triomf thingy

well we went back, and took some more pictures, and got a crappy pizza place after that, stole a heineken ash thing

Went back to the hotel, and then to a sort of pub, which server 15 different tapbeers, and 150 different brands of bottled beer
But they were like 4 euro a glas >< , drank 1 beer, got to the hotel, and made fun of some gay french guys, who were doing strange things in their bed and were stripping in front of the window

After the teachers stopped checking us, i went to the room nextdoor, got wasted, gave the stuff back to mr toilet and went to bed.

Day 2

We went to the eiffeltower, which was great, we had to climb it (stairs) to the 2nd floor and went to the top with the elevator (were no stairs) , which was very chilly , and half covered in ice.

Went down again, walked over the champs d'ewhatever, went under the Arc this time, to the grave of the unknown soldier, yay, after that we walked down that champs street, which was amazing, all kind of car showrooms, with great cars i never saw before ^^ , was pretty amazing, although that maccy d's sucked, cold burgers, and shitty service, i was standing there ready to order, finally it was my turn, and after 10 mins standing that line got closed >< , got to get in another, got server this time, cold burgers though.
At the end of the day our busdriver told us that that was the only mcd with a real golden M , so that where the money goes instead of service/heating

Anyway, we saw the oblisk again, but from the other side this time, and went to a boat ride.
On that boat were the usual people : japanese or korean people, and they were the best ^^ , taking pictures of us and stuff and we took pictures of them , and us together, we had great fun

After the boatride we got in our bus, got a little tour and headed home, at last, even though i really liked the trip it was good to get home, get some rest, and go to school the next morning at 8 am again ><

As you all know i'm going to be a huge WoW addict when it releases, and i already pre-ordered the Collectors Edition ^^
Anyway, me and a few friends and some of their friends are going to create a clan, and i'm going to start a website for it.

When i was riding home from school on thursday morning, i spotted the moon in the sky, i entered my street, and suddenly the moon stood in between some great trees and other scenery, so i went home, took my camera and took some pictures of the moon.

Terragenic News !!!

The poll for the theme of the 2nd terragenic pack has ended and resulted in a 42% of the votes for the theme : Desert.
I've already submitted my piece for the theme, which can be found here -> Deserted

This time, due to the big amount of new joiners, (we now have 25 members) the amount of accepted submissions has increased from 10 to 15, that number will be even bigger for the upcoming packs.

Orion Pt III

Well due to the other stuff into my journal i have made a seperate part in my post, other than dedicating my entire journal to it

Anyways, tonight is a clear night once again and i've planned to take some photo's of the orion nebula.
Because my camera cant see orion in the sky, and i dont have a good camera in which you can set exposure time and stuff, but a normal camcorder (excellent for filming though), i probably wont be able to make images of it "raw", i'll hope my binoculars will help though, if not then my telescope should prove itself worthy

Check my scraps once in a while to see if i have made some photo's, but if i have i'll probably say that in my journal

I've been working alot lately on my collab with *rabidmongoose, and it's starting to look decent
I have made a new avatar as well, which took like 2 days to finally get it right, it was inspired by *alyn's new webdesign, i commented on it that if it would be snowy/flashy, it could look cool, so i decided to make one of my own, and here you can see the result

As i have already told , i'm working alot on my collab with rabid, and it will take another day or 2 i think.
Secondly, my collab with *hypnotic is nearly finished, he started rendering last night, and it can be uploaded any day now.
It is part of the "We create worlds" series that hypnotic started a few weeks ago.
My collab with *oggyb should be finished in the upcoming week as well , so it's going to be a busy week for me.

Misc.

Well as busy as my next week will be, i decided to take a chance and remake 2 exams which i totally f*cked up a while ago, during test weeks, the highest grade will count, so if i get like a 1 instead of my 3,5 for maths, the 3,5 will stay , so you never lose
(here in the netherlands we use the grades 1.0 to 10.0 , like 6,3 and stuff, 1,0 being the worst, 10,0 being the best )

But the best thing still has to come

Well, because i was just bored last night i added a nice little journal story, called orion nebula.
Which can be found below this piece of text
Anyway, i wanted let you know that the spots for my terraspace collabs are full now, and i wont do any other collab for while i think.[link]
~DKF will finish out collab very soon now, and so will *hypnotic, with which i have a collab in his "We create World" series.[link]
*oggyb and i also have 2 open collabs, i think he is almost finished with our first one, and the second one isnt 100% certain yet .

But the new collabs are my terraspace collabs with *rabidmongoose, and * jrsaldana.
They will both make a very nice terragen render, and i shall add my spaceart to it.[link]
I've been working on my collab with rabidmongoose for the last few hours, and its turning out nicely.

At 2:45 am online, bah i don't have a life
J/k, i stayed up tonight, to look at the stars, its for my final exam-essay, which has to be approved by your teacher, or you cant do your exams, meaning you cant graduate ><.[link]

So i went out tonight, and because i saw that orion was sky-high yesterday, when i went back from a party (COMBI - DOPE SHIT WAS UT < WAAAAHHH), and it was cloudy, at about 2am the sky just turned clear, and i went outside again, took my binocs and telescope.
I knew where the nebula was, but it just looked like 3 stars vertically at the start, i wacked out my binocs, and there it was, something i wanted to see for the last few years, even though i always forgot it .[link]

It wasn't that great, but it was statisfying that i found it, all on my own , well at least that i found it, grabbed my scope, and at about a zoom of 450/9= 50 (i'm typing this just freehand, with no thoughts about it at all), so a zoom of 50, and it fitted exactly right, it just like like 3 stars in a row this time, with a blurry spot around it, more like it was radially blurred

The first terragenic pack is now finally full, and from now on you cant submit any art pieces for the pack anymore.
The pack will probably be released in its full version tomorrow, i still need to compose the pack.

Weee, all into space art!
Yes yes, i'm still working on space art, but this time its not just a planet, or some small stuff for a collab, its a pure hardcore to the bone 100% natural piece of my own

Ok, well so far i've spent over 7 hours, used up 600mb on just the .psd, and worked/created on 100+ layers

You cannot see the stars in it , or at least not well, because i resized it down to 25% of the original size to upload it at a decent viewing size

Its far from done, and if you have any ideas about what i should/could add, please tell me, because my inspiration-well is.. well err, yeah right..

Me and *oggyb , well actually I , decided to do a collab in which i will do the space part, and Og will do the terragen.
We still have our little island collab going, which oggy will finish as well.

The theme for the first *Terragenic pack is Storm.
So far 6 out of 10 spots in the pack are filled up with submissions from our members!
In just 1 week we managed to make a new account, get like at least 20 watches, 18 members, and already 6/10 submission for the first pack, not to forget the great donation made to *Terragenic by buying us a years subscription.

School, other work

Next week we will have an entire week of tests, which will count for our final exam point at school (i'm in my final year at high school).
So i'll have to study alot to manage that, just like ~San1ty , who is in my class.
I also still need to finish 2 bookreports (in 1 hour right now lol), i've held my speach, which my teacher loved, whilst i just made the stuff i was telling about up atm

Me and *oggyb , well actually I , decided to do a collab in which i will do the space part, and Og will do the terragen.
We still have our little island collab going, which oggy will finish as well.

I just posted a WIP of my planet, which i am working on atm for our collab.

Just for your notice :
I did NOT , in any way, use the tutorial that *alyn made, it is a mere coincidence that my planet just looks as good as his, even better imo
Secondly, its a WIP, meaning work in progress, so it is not finished at all, alot of things can change.

As a matter of fact, i just used stockphoto's for the textures, which all planet-makers do if they create land planets, for the rest, i made the planet 100% myself.

It's just that i don't want people to think that i just used a tutorial, and i want to help misunderstandings out of the world, by posting this in my journal

And ofcourse i want you to look at my planet

I just got re-accepted at *TerraPro ,
I got kicked out because i had some personal issues with *oggyb, which now have been solved, and we now live happily ever after .

I'm going to submit my entry to the 5th *TerraPro pack : Sunbliss, soon, which a rarely, if not never seen own version of Sunbliss : Fire Sky, which some of you may already know from my tutorial

I'm in a very bad mood atm, because i had a render which took 24 hours , but i found it a waste of time if i cancelled it after like the 12hours during the night, because i though it should be finished soon, but it went on...
and on...
and on...
for another 12 hours

My mom freaked out because my sister had to get on the computer instantly, which surprised me, for she had an entire week of vacation to work on her school stuff, and suddenly, near the end she must use the computer, but mom likes her better than me i guess, so she got mad at me, and i cant render anything at night anymore for the next week(s)

To the Deviant Artists i watch and which have uploaded new deviations, i'm not in the mood te comment, and i write this journal out of pure anger

The pack is open for a few days now, and so far we have 2 out of 10 submissions, which includes my Mountain Dew.

The theme for the first pack of * Terragenic is Storm.

In this note should be the link to your work.

Other Plans

I found that world machine actually wasn't that bad as a world generator at all (soz blacky ), so i'm trying out some new landscapes/themes with it, and experiment with some textures as well, though i cant render anything, due to the reasons mentioned above.

I also have a nice bliss piece ready, but at a resolution of 640x480, i still need to render it bigger, but we'll see if its possible in my few shorts hours that i CAN render.

Just uploaded a new piece called Tiberian Twilight, which is a follow up in my Tiberian line, which now contains Tiberian sun and Tiberian Twilight.

Future Plans

I'm thinking about making a third (final?) part in my Tiberium line , which i'll call Tiberium Dawn.
It'll be a prequel to Tiberian Sun and Tiberian Twilight
2ndly , I want to expand my own site some more, with not just DeviantArt Links, but my own gallery, my own site stuff, you know
3rdly, i still need to finish some work on a few collabs
And finally , i want to learn more space art and photoshop, i want to postprocess some of my work, not in simple ways like Zirkonium, Gamma and Metropolis

Things for now

I need to work alot on my school now, i got a damn big amount of homework and i also need to read 2 books in like 3 weeks :s
Also there is a project called : Profielwerkstuk , which is basically like a giant final report, for which you get about a year to complete, you need to work in pairs and each one of you has to spend at least 40 hours on that stuff, which is a LOT.
Now i need to enter the first half of my project, so that, and my other homework is what i'll do mostly these days

Fable

Sadly , i appeared to be to good for the game Fable
lol j/k, i just happened to finish the game in 11 hours and 49 minutes, which is like nothing, compared to some games mags, who said the game offered over 100+ gaming hours.
I do play on with my character after the end credits and i did find some new stuff, like silver keys, which you need to open chests, so i'm hunting for those now

Collab Progress

+ = Not sure how far dkf is right now, i did see some bits he worked on, and its sure looking great .
+ = Our second collab, og started on this one yesterday i think? (correct me if i'm wrong og ) , so that should be getting on soon.
+ = err my terragen render was just bad, and i sent it to him, he worked on it a little but couldnt really do much with it, he sent it to me and i told him i would try some stuff, but i didnt know that he didnt work on it anymore , so i'll render something more beautiful and new now, so that should get ok as well.
+ = not sure about this, he said he was working on it, but he couldnt get it right, and if he didnt get that he should tell me on monday, but i havent heard from him in like 4/5 days , hyppo, where art thou?

The main reason i havent been online that much lately is that i bought fable a few days ago and it's sooo amazing
The not that great thing is, is that your appearance cant change as much as i thought, but who cares, the gameplay is great and you can go your own way (even though there is a great storyline)

Inactivity Concering New Work

Reason for my inactivity with posting Deviations lately :
Getting the right renders, at first i just posted everything i liked, but now i'm getting more precise and want everything to be perfect before posting, secondly, i'm more talking about collabs, and ofcourse working on those myself
And i'm trying to learn a little bit of photoshopping myself,
this is the part where i need your "help"

I've been messing around with an image i created and after i week i finally got the right ideas, and time, to work those out, and i've made 2 versions...
I'd like you guys to judge which of the 2 is the best right now, and on which i should continue.

Version 1.1: (actually v1.2 , but you know what i mean )
This version has a planet in the sky, which ~Snedex thought of as clouds lol
Anyways, its a planet, i know it sucks, but its a start.
