I've uploaded the main photos for Final Thought's "Take This Home" Promo shoot. Their CD release party will be on the 30th so if you're into pop/punk rock, check these guys out ([link]). I'm not into the genre of music at all, but these guys are amazing and I love their tunes. Gene Simmons even got in touch with them, and he loves their stuff! They're very talented and add a really unique style to pop/punk rock.

Vow of Thorns is coming along very nicely. Each practice Dustin and I get more written, and every day more music comes together. We haven't worked on much due to Christmas and New Years, but we're doing a lot individually.

I have a couple shoots planned for the future, plus a few minor ones thrown in between. I'm really excited about the two ideas I have, regardless of how long they're taking to pull together. I'm thinking of selling prints locally, though some people have asked for me to ship prints to them, so I may do that as well if demand is high enough.

That seems to be all for now. More to come in the future.

It's been awhile since I updated or posted anything, so I thought I might as well put something up.

Starting school once again, likely my last year, but who knows. Harlequin Visions is taking a big break 'till my music becomes a bit more known - but this is where Vow of Thorns starts. It began as an idea for a solo down-tempo/doom project, but now the name has been adapted into an entire band. My friend Dustin and myself have been working on a bunch of material which I am enjoying a lot, and we hope to get tracks out as soon as possible.

I hope to get out with my camera more this year - I've been doing some texturing and I'll likely get some natural textures when working on 3D, just for some originality. I might get a few shots of Heaven Ablaze for their site, too. I'll wait 'till fall and winter to start going out.

Expect more, in time.

I stayed up for the entire weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday - doing my Illustrator portrait assignment. I only got 3 hours of sleep between Sunday and Monday, but I handed everything in fine. I don't really remember the whole weekend, or even the Monday after, but I passed out around 8:00 that night. Sadly, my body is used to getting around 3 hours of sleep (oh, the joys of insomnia) so I woke up, wide awake, at 11. I eventually fell back asleep (being sleepy? boredom? who knows) and had one of the best sleeps I've had in a LONG time.

My next assignment, the Graffiti, is going wonderfully. I've already designed my entire wall art and finished the graffiti text. I've got some other projects, but they're nothing for me to worry about.

Tuesday was the Fanshawe club fair thing. It didn't go so well for any of the clubs, especially us. Nobody knew what we were doing - playing guitar, listening to music, bothering other tables around us. All of the above, really. Next time will be better. As much as I wouldn't want to do it, Ahmed should have left it in my hands.. haha, I've had experience in things like that. Oh, the times I have spent with YNOT...

I've uploaded two of my logos, and I'll be uploading some schoolwork (like the cursed vector portrait) soon.

Fantastic, Sean just reminded me that I have more stuff due this week. Nothing compares to tracing vectors!! I could use a break. I am on hour 5 for today. I'm really looking forward to doing my next assignment though (it's pretty stupid how the two projects now overlap in time... it's really stressful).
My current project: I must trace a self portrait of myself in Illustrator and convert it to a vector graphic. The thing is, it's got to look IDENTICAL to the photo. So here I am, zoomed to 1600%, using various tools to trace out every colour I can possibly spot so I can match my skin, my eyes, my HAIR. This is brutal - it's going to take hours upon hours to complete. The most agonizing thing is... there's an option in the program that does this FOR YOU! I am afraid to use it and failing, and I am afraid to ask if I can because the answer I'll get is probably 'no', due to him realizing it's a quick solution and deciding on the spot that we cannot. This is torture.

I got some great shots for the Trains shoot, I think. We didn't stay for that long, though.

I am getting things done quickly, which is good. School work is violently stealing my personal time for my new band, photography, and lazing around. I'm slowly working on my 50 photos I need to take for class - hopefully something nice comes out of them. The guidelines are far too specific to make anything appealing.

While I was out today I found a spot for my 'Trains' shoot. I got a test shot, and I think it turned out well. I think I'll be doing the shoot on Tuesday - we'll see.

I did a bonus assignment for one of my classes that, if my photos were nominated, I would get bonus marks. Whoever did it got to show their work to the entire class, which went pretty well. There were some great shots - I used my 'Mask' series for the assignment. The class loved the photos, which thrilled me... but I needed to impress the teacher. At the time it didn't look like he was too impressed at all, but today he asked me to send them to him! They'll be featured next class.

The week has started off rough already... my CD design assignment was going great - I had the entire booklet complete and ready for printing. My friend Sean and I begin printing, and found that some of the ink on the glossy paper wasn't drying. Double siding the paper was a fiend, but I found the right dimensions. Six hours later, ink is still not dry. I began freaking out, only having limited glossy paper. I finally decide just to glue the sheets together to form a somewhat-proper booklet, and on the last page the printer ran out of ink. I printed over it a second time, worked pretty well. After being on the edge of snapping, I finally finish my CD, but... the booklet was too thick to fit in the case! I had to scrap two of my pages just to get it in!! It's done, could be better but it looks really cool when it's closed up.

Loads of work for this week - I have to do a 2 minute pitch for this Thursday, a demo website for Wednesday, several pages of documents for next Monday...I'm not entirely sure what I have to do for this still, and the worst of all... 50 photos for next Monday. Each photo has specific guidelines. It's doable, but it's my heaviest week so far.
Went to a fun party last night with a bunch of metalheads. A few of us dressed up in corpse paint. Good times.

I'm slowly finding more of my words and uploading them here. Part of my most important work to date is the concept of 'Harlequin Visions', my album in the making. It's a story from four perspectives; the character, his conscience, a second character, and a narrative. I've seperated the voices using underline, bold and italics.. I hope it's somewhat easy to understand.

There's a few Zombie Walk 2007 photos I've been meaning to upload, but I've yet to get around to it. Busy... I also want to get out and do a few photoshoots - one is Porcupine Tree inspired, the other is for Harlequin Visions. I need to design an entire CD layout for class and I've been allowed to use my project for it, which is convienent because I've been meaning to design some artwork for it. The first step of the logo is complete, and I need to print it and trace each letter whilst doing any minor modifications to it. I'll then scan, and redraw the traces in Photoshop, and then piece them back together. Sadly, I only have the weekend to do this, along with taking eight or ten photos for the booklet artwork. Should be fun, to say the least.
