Unexpectedly enough though it wasn't one of the bigger items that is delayed but the cheap piece of plastic/glass UV filter that I have to wait on.

On the other side of the coin damn you bombing science i placed my order two and a half weeks ago got your order confirmation email but never received a shipping confirmation email and am now tangled up in your support system. I probably won't even be able to get what I ordered since I'm pretty sure one of the colors of paint I picked up is no longer available.

Also I haven't really used this page in a long time.
"what do the goggles do?"

I'm listening to a band called LITE, the album is Filmlets apparently... here's the point. I didn't even know i had it. This used to happen a lot more but since my old computer crashed last winter and i lost about 80 gigabytes of music I really stopped caring about music. Which sucks. The only recent albums I've picked up where random discoveries or friends asking if I've heard the new [ ]?"
LITE is pretty good stuff. IF i didn't have my last.fm thing up i wouldn't know how to describe them though. Ooooh... nevermind. I just looked at the descrip and it's about what I'd say. Post-Rock pretty much, although they are apparently Japanese... the things you learn. If my computer hadn't died 3 days before i went out and bought an external HD i'd probably still be checking release lists every week to see what's new and trolling music sharing *coughmediafirecough* threads and the like.

I expected that the next time I moved out it was going to be on my own again. Not because I'm losing a place and being forced to leave. Oddly enough right now several options opened up for me to move out on my own but something about moving out on my mom and leaving her all alone at the same time as she's dealing with losing her house just seems kind of heartless. And as much as I'd prefer to be back in my own place it's just bad timing.

I have to get back to "writing" a paper on the Altar of Zeus in Pergamon. If it weren't 1/5 of a group paper I would be putting it off even more than I have but I guess I have to suck it up and deal with it.

Then tomorrow I get to make up somewhere between 1-3 design projects. er, technically 1-2 plus the current project but they're all so menial.

Then back to packing. My room is a collection of boxes.

First off... Mass Effect.

You are an outstanding game... whenever you're not causing a total computer lock-up and forced restart. Which is often... entirely too often. It gives me faith in EA games that they're willing to release completely broken masterpieces. I'm not complaining about MY copy of the game crashing all the time. This is line wide as evidenced by the internet community and the entirety of the game's technical support forums. But don't worry. We're working on a patch to fix it and in the mean time we have a lot of things you can try that will totally compromise your computer and in all likelihood actually make the game play worse than before. I am impressed that Bioware managed to deliver a perfect, stellar, outstanding, game of the year edition to all the reviewers so that they could rave about it being the best PC rpg space-opera run and gun orgy of fun and then either A, burned a bunch of copies of their alpha version for retail or B, just sort of phoned it in after the magazines said it was good. Way to manipulate press in order to fool a willing customer base into wasting fourty bucks on a game that you'll patch to make it work... when you get around to it. Oh wait, you're already working on the sequel? Well yeah that makes sense. The first one is already out so fuck that one. Brainstorming session for Mass-effect 2: turn in the greatest game every created for reviews. Then mail out the retail version with, get this, a live raccoon in place of a cd. How will you authenticate your game? You send in a copy of your shot records showing the tetanus and rabies vaccines you receive upon purchase. Better yet, let's replace the cd with a steaming pile of shit molded into the tray.

Fucking EA... I could still get pissed-er at them but it's close to my limit. I'm glad I bought an unplayable game though.

When I'm not slowly fragmenting and crippling my new computer I've been contemplating our government's track record for "bailing-out" institutions that are at fault for their problems... I'm looking at you FAA. To be serious for a second, what sort of paid for by mommy's trust fund law degree do you need to think that "yeah, making the american taxpayer spend 850 billion dollars to fix our mistakes sounds like a good idea?" So what are our "representatives" telling us is the best course of action? That we need to help these poor banks and mortgage brokers because they gave out tons of money for people they knew were bad investments. that we need to pump government (i.e. mine, yours, anyone not in the upper class of American economic society) money into wallstreet. Wall Street by the way, responsible for companies getting rid of jobs in this country in favor of cheaper outsourced labor, responsible for the high price of gasoline, wheat, corn, and god knows how many other consumables, services and businesses. Let's face it. The crash of Wall Street is an inevitability. An open market system does not work when the gulf between the economic classes widens and the traders and market in general essentially devour themselves. An openly traded market is our new Ouroboros. We've replaced old gods with the new.

Just be thankful I didn't get on the topic of legislative "sweeteners," essentially legal and official bribes in order to get votes for different house or senate bills. Every vote you need seems to find someone else pet project getting sent a whole lot of money at our expense. I can't remember the exact situation but some McCain add blasted Obama for starting a bill that he then voted against. Any half-blind, deaf and dumb baby could figure out why when a three page bill comes back to you at 425 pages for you to vote on. (that's by the way the difference between the bailout bill that the house voted against two days ago and when the senate brought it back up yesterday)That's 422 extra pages of some good causes and some crap that no one really needs and no one except for one specific senator actually cares about. These "Pork projects" that BOTH candidates are STRONGLY against are the vast majority of this bailout that both of them are FOR. Love that one.

Let's not forget to state the blindingly obvious that our stock market does not work in a democratic society. It's a holdover from an out of date caste system that supports a rich proletariat on the backs of the common citizen. It casts a semblance of classless society while distracting from the truth. I can today with my checking account buy 58 shares in GE. Warren Buffet just bought about 225, 733 of them. I'm estimating from today's closing amounts but it's only a 2 point difference from when he made his announcement to buy $5 million in GE. Now my fifty eight versus his two hundred and twenty-five thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three shares in the same company... I wonder who has more control in this company. Not to ignore the man's other investments.

There's no way...

So I've just installed corel painter and well, if anyone read one of my older entries they might have noticed me mentioning I have no idea how to use digital programs for art but I was trying to learn... well, now I still have no idea how to use digital art programs and the tutorials from the help screen are all centered around taking a photo and making it look like a painting... maybe i just don't have the right program or maybe there's other tutorials i don't see... or maybe I just don't have any idea what the hell I'm doing so I freak out when I can't understand any of the crap they're saying

recap: never done digital art before. trying to learn a bit before I get to the classes where I need to know how... help?

Everything on my page looks fine on my own computer but sitting here waiting for my next class on these nicer flat screens some of my pictures seem either harder to see or like the colors are dulled and washed out.

Particularly with the pencil sketches, they either look very faded or the pencil lines actually look purple.

I don't know, just not sure if anyone else was having that problem. I'd guess it's on a computer by computer basis

I should probably organize it into folders or something.
not actually a lot of entires from it but several of my already posted pieces are from it too... although, I'm sure I just don't really use it as often as I should.

I don't know. I guess I'll have to work on that.

the new WIP i've actually been working on for a while but haven't really invested much more than maybe an hours time yet. I'm still not sure what I want to do with the rest of the train car but i'm pretty sure I don't want the same stark black/white as the two people. inking the music is my next step... hence why I was worried about fucking it up.

fingers crossed.

I've never used any programs for editing photos. Barring scanner acting like a jerk-off (happens occasionally) all my pictures look like they do in real life. Messy. But I got messy to make them so I don't see why not. It seems like the art world tries to demand photorealism without realizing that most photos are hardly real. It feels like there's a forced march toward an all digital front sometimes. I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy. I just never feel like I'm accomplishing art unless I'm in the trench getting dirty. And I'm in one of periods in life, where I'm doing a lot of works, but they're nothing new. I have a coloring of a months old picture, and sever photo referenced pieces. Everything else is old things I mass posted when I launched my account. My mood has always determined my work, but I don't know what it means to be working artistically but not creating (not by my definition at least).

Hell, I borrowed this username from a now defunct deadjournal. I might as well continue on in the journal spirit. But it's still nothing more than recycling something old. I do have new ideas I would start but I'm obsessed with finishing a picture I'll never be able to. Cause It's not something I can do. I can draw hands well 50% of the time. So that sort of keeps any single person from having two well formed, functioning appendages. I want to be able to rip this page off the sketchpad and start something new but I'm still waiting to be able to draw a hand that should look, I don't even know how.

I use the excuse that I'm practicing, but the truth is, even if certain mediums are rough around the edges, I could pick up any one of them and be competent at least. Still... I don't. I have an aversion to markers (which I'm forcibly breaking on my next piece because the idea requires it, not because I'm choosing to). I have stacks of unfinished writings just because I'm not in a writing mood.

Normal people have mood swings cause they lost a job, or a relationship or... I don't know; Other examples. My moods can predate stuff like that and persist after that. And good moods can be just as random. Why in the hell am I writing this in a place that at least 79 people have already visited (or at least one person 79 times)? It's not quite as public as a myspace, but I mean "god damn."

I don't like where my life is. I know that when things don't feel right it's time for a change. I know what's in my power to change. I can see what's beyond that. There's a chance I could go to class tomorrow and everything could click and I could connect with every other engineering student. There's always the option to stay in what I'm used to cause things always get better in cycles, even if I don't know when. But I'm tired. I'm tired of waiting around. A lot of people aren't brave enough to face new things so they stick with what they've always known. I'm not brave enough, But I have to change. I don't know how much of me is talk and how much of me is real. I'm tired of it. People don't change. What they do changes. I need to do something different

The left eye and the lips are off... and of course the darker shading on the door needs work.

But when i see it posted here It just looks like shit... I'm taking whispers down. I'll probably have to completely redo it cause most of it's pretty set in stone now that I've given myself a fixative fix clearcoating the bastard

So my scanner really sucks and that pic I just put up, in real life is only about the size of a trade paperback so seeing it so big sort of magnifies the problems with the scanner.

I lost my shading pencil halfway through the left eye... Where have you gone pencil "H"

Still can't find it... debating breaking out the charcoal but if I do that'll be another day.

This pic cut way into my sleepy time
