Here's a quick sum up, I'll provide links when I can.
Also, some of you may already know this if you are a member of Hp_Fringeart

Basically one HP fan did illustrations for every chapter in the first book. They were phenomenal and you need to see them (again I'll get links when I have more time, because yeah if you've not seen this HOLY COW! It's awesome!).

Anyway, right he collected these illustrations into a very nice hard cover book and sent it to JKR.

She sent it back.
Or rather her agents did. And from the note he got, there's no indication she ever even saw it. It was something like blah blah blah very busy blah blah blah no room blah blha blah we thought you'd want your gift back.


You can maybe kinda see where this might cause me some pause, yes? ^^;;
Here someone did basically what we are doing and JKR didn't, as far as I can tell, even see it let alone accept it.

Now, yes I realize she gets lots of fan mail and probably does get lots of gifts, so I'm not trying to be bitter here, BUT I'm putting a lot of work into this, you guys are putting a lot of work into this. Having the book mailed back to me without JKR even seeing it would be . . . . well I'd be crushed. Actually crushed probably doesn't even cover it.

Plus I'd feel like I cheated you guys because you gave money to this with a specific end result in mind and I can no longer say that end result will happen (see this is why god prevented me from taking up money YAY)



SO WHAT IM DOING ABOUT IT!
Currently, I'm trying to contact Mellissa and just see if there's maybe a better place to send it or if perhaps his attempt was viewed as a commercial endeavor or if the whole Lexicon thing soured her to fandom books. Who knows.

Once I either hear from her or give up trying to contact her, I'll open this up to discussions on what we want to do based on the info I've gathered.

For right now, because as I said, I can't promise the end result y'all were willing to pay for, I'm further putting on held taking up money until I get this sorted out (One solution, should it be determined that she will not accept or keep a book as been to create a website and send the link to her in a letter).

But like I said I want to try and contact Mellissa (of TLC) first and hopefully find a way to still make this work as planned.


So yeah, that's a bit disappointing for me, but that's where things stand.
I will keep you guys updated as I learn things.

Yes I'm dead.
No wait, not really.

Basically my life is still in serious flux from the moving and the wedding such that I do not wish to try and take up money right now.

I'm shooting for, at latest Starting that in August.

I am trying to get all the art submissions sorted and organized and ready to go, so that as soon as I do start getting money I can send them to be fomatted and bound and such.

So I will hopefully start going through that asap, and contacting people if I find gaps.

So that's where things stand.

First off, thank you all so much for your understanding about my need to push back on this project so I could concentrate on my wedding.

I'm now happily married (yay) and moving into a new place.

Currently, we do not have the internet set up at home, so I feel like formally restarting the art submissions and starting the art submissions would be premature as I'd have no way to get to them (work blocks e-mails, of course and even then, can't DL and save here!) and they'd just build up.

But, as soon as I'm connected at home again I will let everyone know, re-check what art I still need, and get going on collecting payments and getting this art printed and bound!

Also, I'll try to answer notes and such in the next day or so, unless they are art submissions (again, I just don't have anywhere to save 'em to at this time)

I'm behind.
I don't see my catching up in the next week.

I hate to do this but after looking at what all I need to do to make sure my wedding is ready by March 14th, I need to hold off on the Project until after my wedding.


At this point, I can't handle both because they are both huge a time consuming and errors make things go really wrong. At obviously, my wedding kinda takes priority.


I am not cancelling the project or anything, but I need to push things back because right now I know I could not handle money intake. There's no way. Especially now, because I'm going to try and sell of some art to help fund the wedding, I don't think I'm up to handling a wedding, money from the HP_Art_Project, and money + shipping for art.

Something would go horribly wrong.

So yeah.

I really think holding off on the next Art Project stage until after the wedding will save my sanity.

On the other hand and those who may help lay pages out. I will have a finalized page count and page breakdown to you so you can workout how what needs to go where. That I am working on as I can. Let me know if you need any other information.

Thank you so much for understanding and I promise after March 14th this will get my undivided attention again ^__^

I've should have gotten through all the e-mails I've been sent up to 7:00 am on 1/9/2009.

Also, with the exception of some thank you notes and responses along those lines, I should have responded to everything (and it's not that I don't appreciate the thanks yous and well wishes, I just don't always have time to respond to them).

If you sent me an e-mail and wanted a response/confirmation and still don’t have one from me, you probably need to resend it because I somehow missed it.

I've also started contacting pinch hitters to fill in gaps.

I still need to make sure the spreadsheet of finished art matches the actual art that I have and I want to double check that all the files are correct, working, and properly labeled.

I'll also try and update the gallery next week sometime. The hard part of that is simply labeling everything ^^;;;

That will come only after I finally start collecting money Arghh.
Sorry you guys are more eager to send me money than I am to collect. Of course I need to because I've not yet won any lotteries (will no, according to my psm box I win one the UK daily *L*)

It's just the part of the project I'm the most scared of botching. I swear i will stop dragging my feet now that I pretty much know who is sending my artwork and who isn't.

As of 7:00 am this morning (central time) I had 11 e-mails left to sort through. These are not necessarily the most recent but the ones that I had to pay the most attention to. After about midnight last night, anything not 100% straight forward I shelved until I was more awake, which left 11.

Thus far I have 6 chapters that I know for sure are open because I received drop notifications from those who formerly had those chapters.

I also sent out WTF notes to people last night when I didn't have the art and I'll start removing people over this week. One reason it will take a week though is that I don't want to drop a person who is just incorrectly listed, so I like to give a warning before I start removing people and take my time double checking I'm right in that they've neither turned in art not notified me to let me know their scanner blew up or something.

Sorting through this is proving to be a bigger chore than I first thought however, so pinch hitters coming on after 1/1 may have the 1/17 due date pushed back a week just so I can have all of this week to sort through info and make absolutely sure I'm not removing anyone who did turn in artwork or something like that.

Haste makes waste and I really don't want to jack things up. I've already got three minor issues I'm dealing with from earlier mistakes ^^

Anything submitted via DA Notes btw, still needs processing, though I marked it off as sent. I know I feel people got "where is your art" messages because I failed to check the notes.

Moving on:
Ok with things somewhat stabilized now, I've been working on getting the website caught back up with reality.

As you can see, only two sections are caught back up.
(and I mean as of 6:00 this morning, I suspect I'll be adding to the waiting list and I'll try and stay on top of that)

Most likely I'll get the assignment list updated next.

Following that will be the extension list and the finished art list.
Those two lists need a lot of cross referencing work given that I forgot to take people who turned in art off the extension list *head desk*

Took 'em off everything else, but not that, so that's why those two lists are saved for last. Once I get it sorted, I'm sending out reminders to everyone on the extension list, probably with an attachment listing the art I still think you owe me.

And that won't (or shouldn't) include pinch hitters, which are on their own list and I'll contact y'all via form latter separately.


And then . . . money stuff shall start going out.
I hope.

I'm not 100% sure when all this will happen. I have early Thanksgiving festivities this weekend as well as 150 wedding cards to get out, but it will happen ASAP.

We've all seen how that works for me ^^;

I still desperately need people willing to be on the waiting list to fill in for people who will drop out.

And I'm sure a few will.

Heck, just this morning, not 5 minutes after I told someone all spots were filled, I got a drop out notice and re-emailed the person with an open spot offer. I'm not kidding.

Preferably on this waiting list, I'm looking for is people who can draw fast, so I can get replacement art within 15 days after the finale deadline lapses.

BUT, even if you do not think you can make something in 15 days, if you want to be on the waiting list, e-mail me with the minimum amount of time you need and I'll mark that down and if someone drops out early I can notify you if it fits your time frame.

Guys when you send me chapter requests PLEASE PLEASE list more than one chapter. I promise you, you are not the only person asking for that chapter and I need second choices to give you. Possibly third.

No matter how I do this, first come first serve (which I'm trying not to do) or drawing names, if you don't have a back up, I'll have to pick something random if the chapter you requested goes to someone else who also requested it. The only time someone gets a chapter they request without a drawing is if no one else has requested said chapter (which has happened only twice btw)

Also, I haven’t gotten through 100% of all the e-mails, only about 90%. Just so you know where I am on answer ^^

Yes yeah I'm still dragging on giving out third assignments.
I'm sure it's gonna have to happen, but right now, even if I gave everyone offering to do a third chapter a chapter, I *still* can't cover all the open chapters.

Because I'm gonna be listing spots and begging for more new people anyway, so I thought I'd hold out just a bit longer in the hopes of assigning as few triplicate chapters as possible.

Clearly, I need Pinch Hitters still.
Again, I prefer new people, mostly because I want as many artists as possible, but also because of the 5.00 fee. I feel bad charging people extra for helping out, but if I keep doubling (and tripling!) chapters, there are less and less funds for this project, which could cause an issue down the road.

The Deadline For Pinch Hitters: It has Extended
Initially I was trying to get all art in by two weeks into November. I've had some amazing Pinch Hitters who actually met that crazy deadline earlier than needed. You guys are made of awesome.

However, Tudorpot (AKA she who is binding the book) says at this point nothing will happen until January, SO that means the Art project Deadline can be extended to 1/1/2009 with a 15 day buffer for me to track you down or replace you.

So if you want to pinch hit, please let me know. Also if you think you can produce art in 15 days let me know because I'll put you down as able to cover anything that is not done by 1/1/2009.

How does that effect the Project?
1. Right now, to say the least, I'm not happy. So if my e-mails sound a bit grumpy I'm sorry. I'm hoping they don't but it may filter through. I have an awful poker face. ETA I think this didn't sound like what I meant it to sound like. I'm not mad at anyone person, I'm just frustrated with the extra work ^^;;; If you are late I'm not mad at you, and I still want your art. Just let me know!

2. I may drop the 'two people per chapter' idea because so many chapters don't have any art period (unless people pull through). OBVIOUSLY if you turned in art, I won't drop that. All turned in art is in the book. But I would not try to find two people per chapter, I'd simply try and make sure, at this point, every chapter is covered by at least one person. That will make the book wonky a bit, but I'm not sure I can find that many pinch hitters -_-

3. Also, The deadline for printing I guess is now really pushed back, because to find Pinch hitters at all on this scale, I need to offer more than two weeks time, especially now with all the fests going on for the Holidays.

ETA Ok Printing won't start until Jan, so that gives me more time to offer pinch hitters.

Art Submissions
I'm still trying to get through the art submissions.
I updated the webpage to reflect art I had gotten through prior to 9/30, but I've got about a page more of e-mails to go.

I will add the new art to the scrapbook entry as soon as I get a new card so I can renew my LJ account. Sorry on the delay there; I wasn't expecting to loose that card and loose the scrapbook feature for a week or so *blush*

Project Editing
Project Editing goes ok. I know book layouts are being worked on, but are waiting on some page layout ideas from me, which I'm running late on (wedding concerns ate my last two weekends).

Book Title?
We are also debating if the title should be on the book or of the book cover is blank. I prefer a blank book cover with the title on the title page once the book is opened, Tudorpot prefers the title on the book.
Thoughts?

Also, thoughts on what to title this?
The Harry Potter Art project sounds kinda bland I think!
I realize I should have thought of this but I didn't until I was working on title page layouts 0.o

Pinch Hitters
Also, I've got about 5 people who I'm pretty sure have dropped.
Again my preference is to fill drops with new faces before going on to 2nd and third assignments (especially thirds, I'm really trying hard not to resort to third assignments 0.o) If anyone knows anyone who wants to do this and can get art out fast, direct 'em over here!


Payments
Still working on getting a set up that has good accountability on my part without opening me up to identity theft or making the IRS think they can tax me more 0.o
Right now though am not even at a point where I need money yet, though we are close.

Help Part
1. Does anyone have any experience with typography and feel up to working out what font(s) will work best in the book.

2. I know I had some people offer to help with layouts, if you are still interested let me know ('cause I know things can change) or if you are newly interested, also let me know.

E-mail me with your experience and the program you'd use (because yes both things kinda matter ^^)

3. Does anyone know the most common way CGI is credited in art? Some of y'all said Photoshop, some said, Digital, etc etc, I'm wondering if there is a common usage in museums and such that we can use to help make things a little more uniform.


Suggestions Part
1. This is how I'm considering putting the artist info in the book:

I was thinking the artist’s name, media used, and the chapter title would go on the front.
And then, on the back, I’d put the letter to Jkr, and end with the artist’s name and also age and location if they included that optional information.

A 72 DPI isn't going to print well, it'll print either *really* tiny OR for those of you who set the right dimensions, but kept a72 DPI it pixelates into basically nothing you can recognize.

I'll be contacting those with problem art ASAP.

But, yeah before you send it to me make sure the DPI is AT LEAST 300.
350 is better, but at least 300. It can be higher, but lower is bad.

If you are looking for your name on the extension or waiting list on the website, I'm behind. I apologize. It was my birthday celebration yesterday and I just did not have the time. I'm gonna try to get it done tonight.

I'll be handing out waiting list assignments starting tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, so expect an e-mail or LJ note if you've requested to be on the waiting list.


2.We need more people!
There are approximately 87 open spots right now.
And there are approximately 42 people on the waiting list!

My preference right now is to find new people, because I want this project to include as many people as it can.

However, I do have people interested in doing second or even third chapters. I'll grant them those at the end of the week to fill needed spaces. So if you are interested in being a part of this, let me know ASAP.

I now know for a fact that every single person who still remains on the "Need to Confirm or I will Drop You List" as been contacted personally by me TWICE. And by 'Twice' I mean contacted twice via every method available to me, LJ Note, DA Note, and E-mail -_-

Not to mention these people were contacted by one of the 6 people who initially helped me contact everyone.

Plus I know this was promoted on at least two news letters and two well watched LJ Journals.

PLUS the one major rule that thing that I repeatedly said needed to be done was to watch one of the communities either on DA or LJ and I know I've mentioned impending removals there multiple times.

Therefore, no sympathy given to anyone who looses there chapter this Saturday.
I do not care if you artwork is done.
You loose the spot.
Period.


I'm sorry to be so harsh (and I hate to be harsh!) but with a huge list of people who have informed me they've dropped, I do not feel it's unreasonable to ask people to reconfirm their interest at this juncture so that the pinch hitters have as much time as possible because this is a big deal to people.


Everyone was initially contacted nearly 4 weeks ago, and multiple times sense then. Everyone has had time to respond. If an e-mail address is no longer current and/or LJ notes where set to private and/or there is someone other reason it completely impossible for me to reach someone, It was STILL stated that everyone should have been watching one of the communities.

So 8/2/2008 anyone who has not proven to me they are a living breathing active person in this project looses their chapter to someone on the waiting list who IS a living breathing active person in this project.

If there are not enough people on the waiting list I will post in as many places as I'm allowed to that there are more open spots in order to get more new people.

If I don't get enough by the end of that week I'll open it to people who are interested in second or third chapters just so all the spots are filled.

If there are still open spots, we'll see then.

On Art You can Submit
One thing I wanted to mention though is I’m getting some responses along the lines of:
-I don’t usually do 2d art
-I usually do 3D
Etc

I just wanted to re-states 9since I’m not sure I’ve done so since this went live last November) the art itself does NOT need to be 2D. Only what you submit to me need to be 2d.

What does that mean?
It means you can make 3d art items like costumes, pottery, metalwork, crochet, baked goods etc etc so long as it relates in some way to the chapter you’ve been assigned.
What you submit though needs to be a 2D image of your 3d object (so a photograph) that fits the image requirements.
Like this concept would be completely ok, but you'd probably want to take a better photo

Layouts: Time to get Started?
I know a few people volunteered to help with layouts. If you still want to do this let me know. I’ve about 25 pieces of art already, so we could start laying those out as a trial run before the crunch hits. I know it was agreed we all needed the same printer, but was it agreed we should have one person lay all this out? 0.o

Dividers (aka those doing Book Cover Art to denote the start of a new book): Ack! And Opps!
If you are doing a "Divider" we need to get together and talk about how we want to do this, because the art introducing each new book needs to stand out from the rest of the chapter art, but ummm what we do would depend on how far along on the art you all are.

I’m also thinking or listing all the comments to JKR at the beginning of each new "book" which would also serve to differentiate the start of each new book.

Ok yes yes there is.
When I get home I will look at my photoshop mock up and see how large the actual image is.

It is however a ratio of 8 X 11.
I'm so sorry about the confussion.

Though granted from the responses I've gotten I think it's one of two things either people were past the point of no return and I'll be adjusting their art anyway, or you'd not yet started, so hopefully this ins't causing anyone more than a two day delay in starting.


And if you are past the point of no return, don't worry, I've already got many works finsihed that are different sizes.
After Portus, we will gather together and disscuss what can be done.

I'm almost glad this came up because I think it exposed a major issue BEFORE it became a major issue.

Post thoughts, suggestions and preferences TODAY. Decision will be made when I get home 'cause I may need to re-contact everyone which means I need to decide ASAP

Well, things were going too well for something to not go wrong, so now somethign has gone wrong.

Naadi questioned the 8 X 11 size and looking at it, yeah that should say 8.5 X 11 so that the ratio of the picture matches that of typical printing paper. I seem to not know the actual size of pritning paper *head desk*


Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to fix this considering submissions have already been turned in for several people?

I'm considering changing the size to 8 X 10.5 ( or 8 X 10, actual people who print is there a preference?)so that there is room for the border and the blank printer space then e-mailing the change to everyone. I would then work with the already finished art and the art that is too far along to change now.

Or should I keep it the size it is and work with it when we print it out?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Preference? Help?

This has certainly been a learning curve for me and in hindsight there are a few things I’d do differently if I had to re-do this, but you guys have been wonderfully supportive and this continue to move forward, so I’m excited!!

That said, moving on to business:

IMPORTANT STUFF: Please take note

EXTENSIONS
If you need an extension you MUST request it ON or BEFORE 8/15/2008.
I will not grant extensions after that date has passed in all parts of the world.
Yes I mean that. If you do not request an extension by August 15th 2008 you won’t get one.
(I will consider severe extenuating circumstances – my house with my art in it burned down, for example)

How to request one

If you’ve already requested one (via your poll response or a response you’ve already sent to me) you are on the ‘approved’ list. I will be posting the 'approved for extension' list onto the site ASAP, so you can double-check your name there if you are worried I didn’t get you down. In fact all the info below will be up on the site ASAP.

If you need to request one please e-mail anakinbester @ hotmail (dot) com.
Do Not just respond to this post in the comments of here or on LJ,

From this point on:
Do not note me on LJ or DA.
Send the request TO MY E-MAIL.
That just keeps it all in one place and helps keep me sane. .

How Much More Time is There?
For right now, I’m giving a one months extension so people with extensions have until 9/30.
If that won’t work for you, you need to let me know.

I will be sending out individual notices to people with extensions with this information, so you can let me know then.


PAYMENT

I will post more about payment once I’ve heard back from more people.

I can tell you right now though that I will be splitting it up into groups of 20 people so I only have 100.00 at a time, get those 20 works printed, then get the next round going.

For me own sanity and book keeping and liability, I don’t want to be getting money from more than 20 people at anyone time.

Participant Book: CALL FOR HELP

There has been a lot of demand for copies of this book for *participants.
I would like to do this.

HOWEVER, I’m not the most qualified person for finding out how to coordinate a fanzine of this magnitude.

Anyone want to be in charge of finding a printer to do this and coordinating that?
If interested, e-mail me and say way would rock this job.

*And by participants I mean anyone who gets there name in the book either as an artist, the book maker, an assistant, anything. I don’t want this available to the general public.


And finally let me stress this:
PLEASE please please pleas please WATCH EITHER THIS COMMUNITY OR THE LIVEJOURNAL COMMUNITY.

I can not stress that enough.
Most information of the kind I’ve just given will be posted in LJ and cross posted on DA (and later added to the website so it’s easier to find and not buried under new posts).

If you want to be up to date you need to keep up with one of the communities.

1. I did forget to start organizing a e-mail everyone involved to check their status this May, so I apologize on that *head desk*

If I could get maybe 7-14 volunteers I'd like to try and check in with everybody on the assignment list and see if they are still live.

My goal is to have 1 or 2 people per book helping on this so it goes quickly.
Basically you'd just be trying to contact everyone and get a answer to the following question:
Are You still doing the artwork:

Which would be either yes, no, no comment (meaning you didn't hear back in a week).
I'd just need a list of the responses and that would be it.
So please comment here if you'd like to help!


2. I also need to update the website, I am very sorry it is behind.
We have had one person drop so I will be moving the person at the top of the waiting list to the assignment list and then I think I have about 8 names to check on.


3. I have not checked the DA page in ages. I'm not normally that active on DA and I just forgot. Again, I'm so sorry. If you were trying to communicate with me via DA OMG I'm sorry!! If all else fails, I'm :iconani-bester: ani-bester on DA. You can always send me a note. I do poke my actual DA page at least once a week.


4. I need a person who can do a border that will be the standard border, one vertical and one horizontal I think a uniform border for all the art will help. It will need to have room for the artist's name and the Chapter Name.
Along those lines if anyone knows a good template for laying art out to be printed in a book, one that takes into account blleds, that would also be great!


5. Tudorpot I'm sorry because I've got next to no art right now I've just kinda backburnered the actual book, but I am very impressed with the book and looking and hand made books at the Ren, Fair this year yeah the tied binding so that the book can be opened flat (whatever that was called, I'm not even sure you'll get what I'm talking about from that) would be awesome!


6. Printing.
Still my biggest problem.
Possible solution. I need a printer for my art so I am trying to buy one. If this happens would people be comfortable giving me the money to cover ink and paper (paper would be the biggest expense by far, but again, easily covered) and then I can just print 'em? Assuming I get the printer. Otherwise I may just be dragging files.
Again, I'm looking into the cheapest option with the best quality.


7. I got engaged! OMG!!! *Fail* You may not care but what this means is I'm now also planning a wedding. Which means i may forget about this again some month coming up.
What I need is a volunteer to prod me with a stick if I don't post here at least once a week *head desk*I will probably need more help than that, but I'm not a great at delegating but if you are looking at this and you see something you know you could be great at PLEASE feel free to let me know!

If you already sent in art and didn't do this, that's fine, I just added this little bit of organization after talking with Tudorpot, so I'll just e-mail you for this information at a separate time, so no worries.

The optional thins by the way are for demographic purposes so I can say in the intro ages, countries etc and show just how wide reaching/global the artistic inspiration for her books really is.

Also, Tudorpot suggested each artist write a small bit about them and they art, or just a thanks to JKR, kinda what you want her to read, and we can put this in the book, maybe right now on the back of the print of your art.

That would be kinda cool I think.

Also, coming up in Mid-May, I think I'm gonna re-contact *everyone* and double check interest in this project. If I could get 6 volunteers that'd be awesome, that way I could have one person contacting people per book and it would go faster.

Let me know if, in Mid-May, you might be able to help with that.

Soem of you more regular watchers might recall I mentioned this back in Janurary. Yeah same Virius.
I had suspicions but I just confirmed 'em.

It is living in the CD that houses all the HP_ART_PROJECT everything.
Now thankfully the website is up to date, corrected and totally current, so losing my notes is minor, I loose some information like whether the name is a Deviantart name or a Livejournal name which will be a pain to get back but do able.

The real issue
That also has all the completed art. I'm probably gonna pull the art off one file at a time and run 'em through trens micro (Norton failed me) BEFORE I re-install anything else. and hope for the best simply because hey I just reformated my computer. If Trend Micro fails me too worst case is . . . I reformat

We will be going book format (for those of you who might not know, portfolio format had been an option) ecause as offered to make books, as she (or he? ack sorry!) has made a fanbook and it looks wonderful, and I just kinda think a fan book is a nice touch and and her work is lovely

I thought the fanmade book was a nice touch and I'm willing to go with it unless there is a huge outcry and people had hearts absolutely set on a professional book (though IMHO the only difference is cost and a covered spine)

Advice wanted
That said, do I have anyone who can suggest what to look for when choosing a printing service? I wasn't really in on the end of the art schooling, so if anyone knows things to look for and things to run screaming from, i'd love to hear 'em.

I'm gonna probably use some of the ones I've already been sent (copies so I don't frack the original file up) to test things out, and assuming the flu doesn't lay me out, I'm hoping to work out a template for a border.

If you want to help
If anyone as a lot of free time and is design orinated, we need a border template that can accomodate the artist's name and the chapter title (remember how I said don't put important aspects of the art near the border, yes this is why)

I'd love to get some suggestions from someone not myself because I don't consider myself a student of design and layout, so if there's someone whose good at creating clean, simply borders that can uniformly accomodate a variety of artwork, I'd love the help!

if interested, let me know and I'll send you a art file to play with (it would be of my own art for the project just 'cause that's simplest in terms of not needing to make sure it's ok with another artist to have their art sent about the interwebs. I can agree with myself pretty fast *L*)

Part if what caused me to loose track was that I got requests scattered all over Livejournal and Deviantart, which is no one's fault but my own as I didn't specify where to respond, but if I can keep the responses in one spot, that'll help me make sure I don't overlook someone.

Bk 4 Chapter 3 - The Invitation (the first assignment on this went to andreanna, so if you think you have this chapter and are not andreanna, say something!)

I know this link didn’t work for some last time, so if you can't see it, let me know. Also, if you don't see your name on it let me know before you panick. There is more than likely a mistake.

I do however have two new members that I've not added. I'm waiting to hear back from them on chapters.

Once the last 5 spots are filled, any more new people will go onto a waiting list.

And that's pretty much where things stand. I'm trying to get actual personal notification out, especially to those on Deviantart or without either an LJ or a DA account. That might take some time though, so I do apologize.

Other than one quick thing:

Deadline: Right now, it's set for June the second week of June, with a two week grace period; however, I meant to get a kick off going like in September and it's ohhh almost December now soo umm yeah I'm more than likely gonna push that deadline back.

And that's it, ore stuff coming soon just in terms of planning and such, but everyone should have at least one chapter now *crosses fingers*

If by some miracle there's time Thursday, I *migh* get it out then. Sometimes, oddly enough, I hit some downtime on the holidays.
I don't think though, I'll get it out tonight.

I apologize for that.
I meant to get it done on Tuesday but I underestimated the amount of fun working in the shipping industry is before Black Friday (for none USAers Black Friday = Day after Thanksgiving which is usually marked by INSANE amounts of retails discounts and therefore INSANE amounts of shoppers) **

So yes, that's how things are at the moment.
But you'll see an announcement when I think I've gotten everyone assigned.

Anyone can ask for a second assignment (but please not a third), and anyone new who wants to join up can do so also at this time.

Please Note
Unlike the other assignment rounds, this will be first come first serve

It's my least favorite form of handing out assignment, but assignments have more or less been opened form Sept 1st through Oct 28th, and I kinda think everyone got a fair shake at a random assignment, and "First Come First Serve" will be easiest on me ^^;;

(That's also why it's only on LJ. I can't handle first come first serve between two sites, so again, if you have no LJ, just anon comment here with your DA name -or other means of contact- if you want a second assignment or are a new person asking for a first assignment)

This offer will be open until all the open slots are filled, however long that takes two hours or 5 months, whatever.


But please
If you ask for a second assignment be very very very sure you can commit to it. That's all I ask ^__^

And now for a quick:
FAQ
- You can coordinate the art work with the other person doing your chapter if you want. It's totally optional. As a mod, I have no worries if two people say, want to draw Snape demanding Harry Look at him as he dies. I don't think any two people will produce the same artwork, even if they choose the same scene, so again, totally optional.

- You can use whatever media you want. I don't mind, use colored pencil, Photoshop, painter, watercolor, oils, heck I don't care use kool-aide if it works for you (don't laugh someone used kool-aide in an art class of mine)

The only art rule I've ever had is if you work in photo manipulation it must be an *entirely original (or from probably credit stocks) and must be more than minimal Photoshop effects.

This was a staged photo re-worked in Photoshop. If you work out costumes, lighting, staging, and photography, you can submit that too!
Heck you can submit just the photo! Photography is art.

Don't do something like this and tell me it's Harry. That's not Harry; it's Richard Hatch with some Photoshop stuff done to the image
1. It is basically on magazine still with minimal Photoshop touch ups
2. It's not my image. I had no part in creating the original image that was manipulate, nor was it a stock photo

Anything done with official movie or TV images *from any series/show/magazine* is unacceptable.

Quick Notes
1. You've you put your name in before the 28th, and you don't see it on this list, all it means is that I somehow overlooked the name when I was updating this (I had names on here, my LJ personal e-mail, DA, I can easily see where I mighta overlooked someone)
So if you don't see your name just comment, and let me know and I'll fix it.
However, check for your LJ name, DA name, or the name related to your e-mail. I was often given all three and I tried to go with LJ first, DA second, e-mail name as a last resort.

2. A lot of people only requested one chapter. If you didn't get that chapter in the random drawing of chapters, I randomly assigned you another. If you only wanted to do that chapter and no other, please let me know so I can remove you from the list.

3. Yes, because I allowed two people per chapter, there are still open spots.
If absolutely, completely, and utterly loath your assignment comment *here* (not my personal LJ) and I'll see if I can't change you to one of the open chapters, but please, only do this if you truly feel there is no way you could ever in a million years draw for the assigned chapter, not just because you see something shinier. (also, if you are watching this both on LJ and DA only comment one place!)

4. I'll leave the above trade offs open for *this week*, after that, any chapters still open are up for grabs either by someone new, or as a second chapter for someone.

b. That will not happen for another week, please don't comment here asking about it for right now.

1. Can I start drawing.
Yes by all means, if you like the chapter(s) you have go for it.
Size is 8X11, please remember that there will be a border.

2. Can I swap with someone.
That's on you. If you do work that privately out with someone, just let me know who ended up with what.
