This is probably going to be a series of entries. So if you care what I think (which you should) keep reading them.

As the year comes to a close, one thing is certain. This year was great for music. 2003 was the year of sub par music and medicority. But 2004 was entirely different. Maybe the first signs of things to come was My Blood Valentine announcing their reunion (which I believe still hasn't gone through). This year it's very difficult to make a top list of albums. I'm sure one could make a top 100 albums of the year with very little effort. I sometimes argue that you kind of have to go out of your way to have bad taste in music. But to be fair being a music fan is almost a part time job in it's self.

I don't want to talk too much about what happened in music this year as far as reunions go. As far as the people go and so forth. I just want to talk about the music. There doesn't seem to be a genre that wasn't used to make a great album. You name it, and some record must have had it. There were ground breaking bands and bands that were excellent in there own crafts. People said digital music would ruin music. But it has to make music even better. Bands are now more into making albums, cohesive albums no less. Not that this hasn't always been true of a lot of music. But most albums did not get sidetracked with something else. Most albums did a great job of keeping a focused album.

Something that can't be denied by music fans is this: Two bands that will be greatly influential released albums this year. I did not get to see one of them, but I did get to see the other. The first band and album is The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat. One need only listen to it once to know it will resonate for years to come. Love it or hate it, you can't deny bands will be listing this as an influence a decade from now. The other is The Arcade Fire - Funeral. Already at the top of many people's albums list. This album is set to be legendary. From the making of the album, to the fact that so many people wanted to hate it so bad. But you can't resist until the end of the album. It's all so great, you just have to give in. I had the pleasure of seeing this band. And I can honestly say it's one of, if not the best show I have ever seen. Regardless of what these bands release next (Fiery Furnaces have an ep coming out next month.) They have made two albums that will be remebered for years to come. No matter what happens in years to come, these will be two important touch stone records. Much like The Queen is Dead, Slanted and Enchanted, etc. are today.

Next: Top 25 songs of the year.

It all starts with "what bands do you like?" And then here comes "yes because only bands can make music right?" Then the feelings get hurt when you say "I'm talking about music, your electronic hackery is not music." By the end of it you got some dorkus with a massive ego trying to impress everyone. And you have me, who is an asshole. I'm not saying electronic music blows, even though most of it does. But the worst part is the fans. If bands didn't exist, who would they be sampling?
Before the concession speech that storm of fatalism had already came crashing in, like a giant wall of water. "welcome to ww3" "it's all over." I consider myself to be reasonable to a fault. I'm a registered green, but consider myself to be a leftist before any party affiliation. Thus in turn I have some level of concern with the democratic party, which is closest to me in this duoplosy. What needs to evaluated first is not how we lost, but how they won. We must understand the christian evangelicals won this election. This is of concern, major concern. Not because my views are in stark contrast to theirs, but what this represents. People cry and holler about the erosion of the wall between church and state. But this cuts much deeper than that, but cuts in the same manner. We now have a precedint which has not been seen for decades. There are two important points that need to be made about this.

1. Foremost is the overlapping situation between public and private institution. This has not happened from the top down. It has happened in a very ironic way. That is to say it happened from the bottom up, a grassroots reaction. Of concern is private (church) and public (political arena) has overlapped on the far right. I make no secrets about it, this presents a major threat to progress that has been made and has yet to come. The reason is these people are foremost "values voters." Which is ironic because the notion of ethics is lost, but that's a different story. Their political reaction is not political, it's social. These elements should not exist within the political sphere of american life. It's assault is heavy, and this election is a massive backlash that has been happening since the end of the counter culture. Their willingness and want to crush leftist politics happens from the top. The most basic level functions as nothing more than a means for the leading conservatives. No one has to say what major threat this presents.

2. The second point is an assault on what are refered to as american values. While we can argue night and die about what that means and how they've been upheld, now is not the time. What i'm getting at is that this extreme right sect has introduced the idea of christian values trauncing american values within the political sphere. Not through logic nor through reason, but through being a strong voting block. This is more dangerous than the forementioned. I'm not by any means saying the atheists and muslims will be slaughtered. But the relation of public and private life is begining to blur.

The next point is how "we" lost. Which I can't tell at all because the truth is that everything that could have gone right did. Yet we lost, big. But we must remember there has been far worse situations for the left. This is the political and social situation of the 20's. And this is the major blowout of 1964. The right wing hit us with a hard punch. We might be staggering, but it's not more than that. It wasn't a haymaker, and we're not on the ropes. The challenge is big on two levels. The democrats must be able to reinvent themselves not by the next general election, but in less than two years. More specifically, they have to have reinvented themselves within a time strain of 7-9 months. There is no time for who lost it and so forth. Some level of control must be regained within the house and senate, this can not be emphasised enough.

I can say that this was my first taste of real political defeat. And it was a very bitter pill to swallow. But if I can show resiliance within less than a week, than we all must be able to. For many including myself this was the first taste of the "culture war." And it has been a hard learned lesson. But to appeal to those people would be a major error. The result is not hard to see. The politics will become dirtier and less progressive. A counter tide must be mounted that not only produces numbers, but wins elections. It's important to remember one thing. 54+ million people voted against a president. That energy has to be carried over to more local elections if one hopes to be able to win in the next four years.

Michelle Malkin is the height of selling out your race so that you may advanced your career. She wrote a book In Defense of Internment. Basically the book argues for internment camps during the WW2 that we all know about. Her arguement is that desperate times call for desperate messures. Thus these things can be justified. Unfortunately i'm smarter than this imbecile could ever be. Never once through out the book does she discuss another point about countries during the time of war. The competing ideas of freedom and secuirity. She also sites a japanese agent who really never got to far along in doing any form of sabotage. But never brings up german spies who were days away of carrying out their missions. She also feels muslims should be able to questioned and so forth. Because "it's better to be inconvenienced then to be incenerated when a plane crashes your building." Thus further proving the rights ability to overtake 9/11. And to be fair, I don't care much about 9/11 or terrorism. And once you study terrorism, you'll find out how much of a hypocrites we all are in relation to our actions against other people. The reason I write this entry is because this book shows just how ugly some people can be. How some people can cut themselves away from their roots to appease their own political stance. I think of my political counter parts who looked down on Ceasar Chavez. Black counter parts who decry Martin Luther King and call all liberals "soft racists." But I should thank the author for further cementing my political stance. It takes a person of little intelligence to destort your political oppenents into celver phrases. Such as "the blame america first crowd." But to be fair I am anti-american. Because I weigh american actions the same as I would any action. I don't give any sort of leeway because I grew up on some piece of land on some imaginery border someone is trying to protect. Sorry this is so long, I just can't figure out how some people can think that way.

Now you might be saying "wow, that's terrible." Now of course you'll only be saying this if you still have the ability to see. Not only does she like afi, but it is republican. Anyone who knows me knows that i'll heckle you if you're a republican. This might be from simply proving you wrong or having sex with your daughter so that she may carry my liberal seed. Now i've gotten off track. So the moral of the story is none. God those fucking colors gave me a seizure.

This more of an artistic statement then it is a journal entry.

This took me a while to notice, even though it's been right in my face the entire time. What i'm talking about is giving "credit" for using someone elses work. That's bullshit, it's complete contradiction to the concept of an art community. People here are crazy over there "intellectual property." So much so that they warn of lawsuit if one doesn't follow the rules they set in place in order to use there work. I for one feel that's bullshit. Ironically these people are on the "left of things." Well they are not, leftism does not entitle only your views to how we should relate to one another. It also relates to the concept of property. Thus these people seem to be the most steadfast capitalists imaginable. So if you ever use something made by me, please do not link me to your work unless you'd like to show me it. Do not give any type of credit to me what so ever. The fact that I have to feel uneasy about using someones work is ridiculous. One someone uses your work for there art it's not theft. Infact it's that person placing a new context for that image. So in closing anyone who practices the system of having people feel something is owed when using an image, even it's a simple thank you in my opinion is a fucked up person. Stop taking from art and then expect something when something is "taken" from you.

Someone needs to start a pop art community. I'm part of no community on here whatsoever. Mostly because there isn't any i'm interested in. So someone should start one. Unfortunately that person is not me.

I've noticed that the easiest way to get attention on deviant art is to do the following things.
1) Like boring anime, oh wait. It's ALL boring.
2) Black dyed hair, because of course you're deep and meaningful
3) Pictures with your big breasts.
4) Have the word "fuck" some where on your piece
5) Be boooooooooring.

Unfortunately I spend a lot of time making my pieces. Putting lots of time and consideration into what is being said, and allowing a space for the viewer to interpet the piece as they feel. Unfortunately, much like any modern community. This place is over run with vanity and the same repeating patterns.

I wouldn't mind working with more then one more person. Actually I think it would be pretty interesting what is created.
