Well, I'm feeling a little better about my situation. Put up some new artwork and I have decided it's contest time. This contest will be a battle of the ink, the winner will get some well deserved membership extensions, a journal feature and a possible print if I can ever figure out how to get that stuff working. Tell everyone inker you know, hell ink it yourself, the world will decide the winner and give you your recognition. This isn't a popularity contest though, the highest three candidates will then get full critiques from professor's at my alma matta and that will determine the skill, completeness and creativity of the entrants. I just received sketchbook, The Grind, in the mail yesterday and it has instantly become one of my favorite sketchbooks. Feedback from the three professors:

Crit 1: Good overall feel to the piece, methodical in content the colors play to the emotional side of the characters and you can sense their is something coming, the background keeps the heroic we can do anything feel, while also bring that sense of urgency to the group shot. Jake why didn't you clean up the lines before sending this out, the hand on Green Lantern, uhg, could be fixed in a few second but the colorists did a great job working through it.

Crit 2: I like this piece over the other piece based off of the dark threatening sense that the triad look like their fixing to encounter. A broodish Batman can be hard to pull off when matched with darker backgrounds but their is a good sense of composition here. Love the glow effect on the Green Lantern. You know my feelings on Superman but for the purpose of crit value, he is definitely the boy scout, american made superhero and the colorists highlights that effect with the centralized aura of light. Good job.

Crit 3: Short and sweet Jake, composition 7/10, detail work 9/10, lines 8/10, colors 9/10 and effectiveness 9/10. 43/50, not bad Jake, tell the colorists great job overcoming your challenges. Good to hear from you and when are you coming back?

Well after many deliberations, searches on the internet and banging my head against the wall with some writers, I've finally named GRLA's primary character.....GRLA's new name will be "Silverback", fitting huh, and we really have a decent backstory working out right now, abilities and such are still coming as well. I would like to get some pointers on my first color attempt through photoshop, I have CS3 so please let me know how to fix the finer details, it would be much appreciated.

Hey just wanted to let everyone know that I am back. Thanks for the love while I was out. Vacation was nuts so just wanted to let everyone know where I was on the projects: Hulkdaddyg, on track just finishing up the inks on our collab, and to be honest I couldn't remember but thought their might be one more. Please let me know if I'm missing you. I will be posting some new stuff hopefully the next couple of weeks, got a new GRLA I'm working and a few others. Didn't get much drawing done but who could when visiting so much family in the south you haven't seen in years. Way fun though. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be visiting Oklahoma for Thanksgiving and will be gone from home for about two weeks. I'll be able to check this account but probably won't be posting any new art until I get back, but maybe we'll just have to see. Also wanted to give props to for the new avatar. Pretty cool huh, oh if only it could happen, LOL. Like I said though I will be checking this and still sending and receiving messages. So let's keep the pageviews moving and tell your friends to drop by, I'll do the same.

I've seen many a journals that incorporate featured art and decided that I'm definitely not doing enough in that department. So, to rectify, I will now be featuring art from my friends in an effort to up their visibility here on DA. As for now I don't have a ton of watchers but for those of you that are and want to see what I like then I will start with 5 a journal entry and leave them posted for like a week or something. I hope to also influence my friends to do the same thing because if their is one thing we are all here for it is exposure and I hope to spread and recieve throughout the artistic community.



Been watching this cat for a while and the reason is the passion. Every picture is emotion el presidente and you feel the character not just see them.



Another of my favorite commission style artists. You can tell that alot of work and time goes into his pics and it's makes it all the better for his finished products.

I fully take it back about not talking to much. Liam and I have been very communicative since the posting and turns out this cat is not only a fantastic artist, but one hell of a guy. Please stop by and show him the love. Plus I still love Conan!



Up and coming and very good with the the colors. His eye is getting better all the time and the tonality within the costumes as well as the tertiary colors really pop the picture off the page.

Well for now that is my feature section. That was really hard when I said I would do five but I want everyone that gets featured to have their personal moment. Yours is coming believe me. Sucks on losing the contest completely by the way but my congrats to the winners of the Detresse Contest, they all did a fantastic job. Anywayz, thanks to all the fans that voted as well. So what do you really say here, not exactly the 5000 milestone but I tell you what, I love all of my watchers. We have come a long way since January, its been a fantastic year. Launched the website here at DA finally after a couple of years, Launched a new character, met some wonderful people who have been ultra supportive and collabed with some of the best possible people and WE have turned out some truly class comic material. In the end I guess I just really want to say Thank You to everyone who comes by and to everyone who has stuck it out with me, thank you for a great year and much more to come!!!

Well the season seems to have started. If everyone is interested in what contests that I've entered the titles of my pagework from here recently should be an indicator. I'm also getting some serious work done on finalizing my character designs. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to share as the character model is under the G.R.L.A. category of my gallery. Also, what do people do to get others interested on here. I went to a page the other day that had 100,000 pageviews. 100,000! What is that about and how do I get in on that action. I'm super stoked believe me of the people that have taken such an interest in my work. To let you all know, yes, I am very interested in doing cover work and such and even pencilling pagework, so we will see. I heard that Stan Lee has a fan art page, if anyone knows the name I would love to visit it. 14) For me art is what you put into it, you want to be good, be good, you don't have to present the most aesthetically pleasing material as long as you put your passion into it.

You know sometimes we artist like to be reminded that we do a good job at what we are trying to accomplish. Something as simple as a reply to a message, return phone call or even a rejection letter that said they looked at your submissions works. Today I chatted with Tim Townsend who by no means was obligated to talk with me and he was very genuine with this conversation so I give him a great deal of gratitude. I see artists on here whose numbers gross the 100,000 view mark and I think to myself, man that's where I want to be. To be rather honest though, I feel very fortunate for those on Deviantart who have stopped by to look at my stuff period. I remember now why I started drawing and it was more than any natural talent or money driven purpose could relate, it was the look on people's faces when you really knock one out of the park. I will always remember that. Anyways, I'm going to dedicate some more time to viewing collections and galleries from artists on DA and I encourage you guys to do the same. The mountain is big but the only way to get up it is to take a first step. Good luck to all my friends that I've met on here.

You know what gets me about computers, the eventuality that as hard as you choose to work on one it will one day let you down. Computer crash number 1 and at the point of when we were getting the new W.I.F.L. project done and on screen. Sorry fans am working hastily to get it back so we can get this started. Just a quick update as I keep the time clicking working on the WIFL project with WarcraftofWorlds and Simplecomics, I managed to get the inks and pencils up for the alternate cover of G.R.L.A. and a promotional piece started for handouts and such at the cons. I got an invite to the MisCon in Missoula, Mt. next year as a featured artist so that fun can begin. Just wanting to give a shout out to my boys Vasquez, Heinrich, Jamibug and Jason. The WIFL project should be completed by next Friday given the finishing of certain projects. I am thinking of running a poll for who is to join the Hulk and Kratos in the Gods of War promotional peices, be glad for some suggestions in the mean time. I finally have my first premiere piece for the G.R.L.A. or Gorilla if read. I am very please with the inks and in no way is this the finalized version of the character, but I thought I would let everyone know what I've been doing for the last month. I have dedicated a significant portion of my time to doing these premiere pieces of which this is the first in line. I hope you guys and gals are as excited as I am of the new idea. The backstory so far is that the Geneticall Rendered Lethal Assasin project has gone astray and is no longer under Governmental control. One of the projects, we'll call him 50 for now, finds himself new to program, newly rendered and completely alone left to fend for himself. Aware of his situation but unable to cope with the aftermath, he is left with no choice but to venture to the outside world and the horrors awaiting him.

One of the main things I was hoping to accomplish with this website was getting my art to the world and seeing if it was good enough for some people to try their wand at coloring. Thanks to simpleComics for his truly advancing efforts. I would like everyone to know that downloading my art and coloring it is fine by me just let me see a copy or something, you know, let me know so maybe we could talk about it. Anyways, not to preach or anything, I was just hoping to allure any viable colorists to chipping in and seeing what happens. Just one of many intentions this website holds for me.

Haven't been much of a good host this week, sorry y'all. My friend Chris passed away this Monday and I'm still coming to grips with that mess. I hope to have something up later this week that evolved from the Gods of War: Revolution Hulk pic I put up and will be adding a new face to the duo of destruction. I have wanted to see these two on the same paper since the game came out and then the series of World War Hulk showed me his true inner turmoil, I thought they had a lot in common Kratos and Hulk. Anywayz, this is something I've been playing with for about a week now and finally decided to put some pen to paper for a stand alone to see if I truly liked the characters. I loved the final results of the first piece and now I am working on a series of them just to put up on here! Hope you guys like the work I put into this piece.

Hey everyone, thought I would start the week out right by getting a pic up. This was done for a buddy of mine, ^simpleCOMICS, hope ya like, and it was really only the second or third time I've done Batman so I know it could use some toning and shaping, but overall pretty happy with the results.
