Life has been busy for me. Last semester pulled me away from being very active on this website. I am still around and doing well though. How is everyone else?

This summer, rather than spend huge amounts of time in Yellowstone like I usually do, I have decided to spread out and see some more of our beautiful country. So far I have stopped by Arizona and southern Utah, and I am currently in Colorado as I write this. I still plan on spending some time in Yellowstone eventually though, so do not fear. ;-)

He mentions something very important to me, and writes on the essence of true wildlife photography. Often for the pursuit of a image some of use hurt nature and wildlife or go to facilities where animals are starved and mistreated just so they can put on a show for the photographer...All of this just to get that close up shot. Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (a national non profit organization) is hosting multiple predator derbies in Idaho. This organization has very strong ties with both Idaho Governor Butch Otter and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

Earlier this year this organization was given the first wolf tag and auctioned it off to raise profits to keep the wolf off of the Endangered Species List.

IDFG recently voted to extend the wolf hunting season until March of next, which will allow wolves to be a part of this contest. Perhaps this is a coincidence; perhaps not.

This guy has amazing landscapes. One of Mikes abilities is to take scenes that many may pass off as ordinary, you pass by them usually on your way to a tourist attraction such as a waterfall or a famous overlook, you look out the window on a long flat dusty road and see sage brush or cactus and see nothing of significance that could make a amazing picture. And than Mike rolls down that road. and sees that same stretch at just the right time of day and within that captures its true beauty into shots like this...

A plan is currently underway and is nearing  preliminary agreements to form a massive underground tunnel to transport up to 6.5 BILLION Gallons of ground water from the Snake River Aquifer and River system...A YEAR!

Yellowstone was great and was a much needed recharge after a long winter.  It was also an amazing chance to try out my new equipment which preformed flawlessly for me. I will post photos up as I can of the trip, but I am saving the BEST for last. This really made my day and what a good way to start out 2009.

Right now im working upwards of 70-80 hours a week between two jobs and my photography trying to save up some cash for winter photography trips and play, so sorry if I am sometimes a bit absent from the online scene, I have my eyes on some new equipment that makes the hours easy to handle (400 2.8) but I am going to have to pay the price first!

Its a huge victory for the enviroment! Hopefully a decent management plan that gives the Grey Wolf the respect it deserves can be created through this court ordeal.

Also in other Wolf news, Grey Wolves are moving into Washington and taking up habitat there! This is awesome for the ecosystem and is a great step in restoring full balance to our wild lands.

This is a 2005 Honda Element EX
It is based off of a Honda CRV so it has All Wheel Drive with 7 inches of ground clearance it is sufficient for light duty off road travel with a gas sipping 1.4L VTECH engine providing me with up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. What I am seeing is many "photographers" with a considerable investment in equipment such as the big L lenses do disrespectful and rude things. both to the other human guests of the park and the wildlife residents that live there each day.

The Wolf population in the Rocky Mountain area has done remarkably well after reintroduction, so well that the Wolves are due to be De-listed as an Endangered species this upcoming spring. it is estimated that in the Northern Rocky Mountain Area comprising Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho there are at least 1800 of the animals.
