Fed up!

Fed up with the fed! Interesting how fed in the case of fed up does not mean the government! Gasoline is again at all time high! And at the pump here in Ohio that means 3.75 a gallon. Let me try and speak to the reasons why. If you are like me, you are grounded because it costs me 15 dollars a day, 75 dollars a week, 300 dollars a dam month, just to go to work and back.( And to think John McCain thinks that I need to be more fiscally responsible for myself. Hmmmm kinda hard to do when my dollar wont buy a newspaper printed on recycled paper.) There for I am not driving needlessly! And according to most of the indicators, neither are you! So how come gas is still going up if we are not consuming as much. Well here in lies the conglomerate big “oil” business men who gave boat loads of cash to explore the Alaskan wilderness, only to have have a moratorium for 30 years slapped on them. So they do what most thief's and liar's do, they corrupt ambitious no talent people such as George W! How do you think the bush's became politicians. It sure as hell was not a birth right! George W now has to return the awesome consideration in the form of allowing the demand, and therefor the cost of oil to be artificially inflated. And as a boon, George is finally able to allow the rape and plunder of the Alaskan wilderness! You ever wonder why the Saudi monarchy has visited the ranch in Crawford! I am not a conspirator! However I am not so dumb as to believe the ten million excuses and causes that happen daily to exaggerate and unsettle the oil market. Simply we are being targeted, our way of life is at stake, and most of you don't ever think why. Most of you accept it blindly! The high fuel cost is eroding the social classes in this country. There used to be three classes, the rich, the middle class, and the poor! Guess what? The poor class is growing exponentially. And I promise you there will be cheese lines In this country before we die! The “W” administration is leading you to believe that the housing sector is causing all of this economic turmoil. Well if you believe that, I have 15 acres of ocean front property right here in the heart of tropical Medina County Ohio and I will let you have it for a smooth 2 million, its even zoned for business! The news anchor was crying how the taxpayer is going to have to bail out the mortgage market. I wanted to reach thru my television and choke this asshole. 12 billion a month to fight the war and to rebuild Iraq. My tax dollars and whole lot of China banks paying for it. The usa is 9 trillion in debt. I tell you that this is unacceptable. I will tell you what has caused the economic fall. Yep the cost of oil and the cost of war. At the end of Billy's term, gas went from an average of 1.40 a gallon to just over two dollars. I thought then that this is the beginning of the end. I should have been a fortune teller, because it wasn't 12 months later that the steel mill that I worked at closed. Good bye 80,000 dollars a year, hello unemployment. For the next four years I could not buy a job. The only reason I have the job I do now is because I was fortunate enough to be connected and called in a favor! And why exactly did George demand we invade Iraq, Hmmm We don't need no stinking proof of wmd! GEORGE, GEORGE, GEORGE OF THE MIDDLE EAST! ( to the tune of George of the jungle) That folks, For the record, is why I no longer feel that the the two party democratic system is viable. I want utopia, and in order for utopia to exist, the professional life long incumbent politician most go! The politician no longer functions, and is old and out molded. I think maybe we should out source all political jobs to India, China, Taiwan, or some other third world country! God knows that they would do it cheaper, faster, and better! And just think how terribly happy the lobby would be! I dare you to take back your country in November. As for me, if you are incumbent, I will not vote for you. Sorry I am fed up!

I know that some of you feel that there is no place for a political blog or journal on deviant art, if this is how you feel you can stop reading now! I promise my feelings wont be hurt. I believe that all opinion is fair game on a public forum, I don't have to like it, or agree with it. Some times blogs can be funny, and sometimes pretty ugly. Call this blog a call to reality. War is coming! World war! Opec today has said that it is possible that oil will reach 200 dollars a barrel by the end of the year. I am told that the laws of supply and demand dictate the cost of consumables. Sorry I am calling bullshit right now! Greed does. I don't know of anyone who is driving unnecessarily. Most people have to find new measures to balance their personal budgets because the cost of fuel has driven up the cost of all other consumables. People can not keep pace, and find that they are now slipping into poverty. I know for a fact that most people are not driving like they once did. I challenge the claim that there is higher demand for oil. Unless my euro brothers have a higher base salary, they have to be hurting as well. I am sickened to think that the oil companies posted profits that increased up to 50 percent from the last quarter. It is my firmest belief that the oil companies and opec have pulled the biggest terrorist attack off, they have destroyed the American economy. American politicians are afraid to approach the R word. Dammit we have been in recession since Bush took office. They need to recalculate because I think we are seeing the opening of a great depression. I don't think I need to remind most that last depression was ended with world war, not the great works projects that built such things as Hoover dam. A couple of years ago, congressman Kucinich proposed a windfall profit tax on the oil companies, Dennis was silenced, I have not heard of anything else on the subject. I as a taxpaying citizen of this country demand that the tax breaks that oil companies have received over the last 10 years or so be reprimanded immediately and furthermore I demand that they pay the American public back those tax breaks for the last 5 years. Make the government work for the people, not the big business.

there is nothing as heart wrenching and sad as seeing your child distraught. Wiley put in a phenomenal effort to help Charlie survive, she fed him every two hours, she talked to Charlie, she made sure charlie was warm and had water. It wasnt meant to be. Charlie was very lethargic this morning, and by 3 pm he was no more. R.I.P little bunny

I knew this outcome was inevitable. I had hoped that it would have happened while Wy was with her mother. It seems to me that i am always the one that is going to have endure, come up with firm affirmation as to how good the intent was. And Honestly, All the while i curse my ex wife. She new better than to try and save a baby bunny, when there are free clinics for wild animals every where. I curse my ex wife because its my heart that is broken, seeing my child suffer at the loss of little bunny. I guess any parent would want to keep a child from suffering, especially needlessly.

My itinerary for the rest of this week.


1. I started packing today. I have coconuts on the brain. My suitcase is half full, and it has no suit in it. I am thinking that in order to be true to my redneck heritage that my cutoff work shirts are fine for a formal dinner, and I just washed my hat! GOOD TO GO.

2. Tuesday, I will finish packing cutoff work shirts and cutoff jeans.

3. Wednesday, I will pack my brand spankin new teeth brush with my small tube of teeth paste, under arm deodorant, small bottle of smelly shampoo, and a small bottle of body wash in a travel shave bag. I am afraid to pack a razor. I am no junior terrorist.

4. Thursday morning I will load the van with mine and moms travel cases, go to work for 8 hours. I will collect my paycheck one day early and try real hard to cash it with the local paper boy! And at 4:30 PM the world can kiss my ass! I am on vacation.

5. Friday Leave Heathers to head to airport

6. Saturday board the carnival Glory for a 7 night eastern Caribbean cruise. Did I mention coconuts on the brain.


I am really looking forward to this cruise. When mom showed me pictures she took last year, I knew I had to invite myself on this cruise! Apparently I can by internet service on this boat. It is rather pricey however, 55 bucks for a 100 minutes. The bad news is I am going to buy a 100 minutes, and I am going to spam everyone I know with pictures of blue clear waters and coconuts Shoot, I may even do a blog a day to correspond with my photo a day to really rub it on that everyone else is stuck in winter and I am not!

Go ahead and ask yourself what the hell I am talking about. Well, here is a little history lesson by my reckoning. (I am not guaranteeing facts) Ready.... in the early 1980's the British prime (a Donna) Marguerite Thatcher, and the American president had an affair. Oh how scandalous, and I am not talking about the affair either. I am talking about the birth of the offspring named a new world order. Not scared? You should be! The idealisms of a new world order rob the average citizen of any chance of ever seeing a middle class existence much less a wealthy one. The citizens I reference are Americans, and our British cousins, as the plan was hatched out by the British and the American politicos. In the new world order the power structure is Anglo/American As this suggests, we rule the world. Sure we are throwing bones to all of the third world country's, where the workers are working for next to nothing, and happy to do it. Pennies are huge, when you have had nothing your entire existence So I don't ever see an equality happening there, and the rich get richer, the poor poorer. Now under the American president a foreign company is going to be paid billions of dollars to construct air frames for the aging air refueling tankers. These billions of dollars will be paid from the fruit of my labor. Most Americans, especially those of us who have a blue collar would much prefer to see our tax dollars kept in country, employing our brothers, lifting them into a measure of comfort. For the record, I am a conservative liberal. Basically, I want social programs that help the poor, infirm, and destitute. I want to see American poverty eliminated before my tax dollars filter into other countries as aid, or for trade and services. But I also want a strong military, because I know that if my neighbors stick is bigger and badder than mine, I am not as likely to take what is his. I am pissed at my countries leadership. Good business does not guarantee good for the citizen. The American economy rolled as a manufacturing based economy, we needed nothing from anyone. We where capable of anything. As per terms of the new world order, our economy is switching to a service based economy, and the rich continue to get richer. Sadly, the new world order is so entrenched into the political agenda, that there is no voice of sanity left for the American. I can hardly bare to watch the evening news, Homeowners are loosing houses at alarming rates, Manufacturing jobs are being lost at alarming rates. Heating and fuel costs are off the charts. Conocphilips had record 4th quarter profits of 38+ billion dollars. This madness has to end, or our children will be indentured!

i am sitting in my living room watching ballroom dancing, and there is a couple that come out and the music is all matrix. Their costumes are matrix, and some of the choreography is matrix. But the commentators have no clue that the dancers are portraying the movie the matrix. I am sitting here cracking up because their color commentary only could come up with the couple dancing to a futuristic scenario.... So as the tittle implies, Ball room is sexy, especially the salsa. WOW

Well, i was shooting to buy a 100-400L lens. I was having a hard time finding it locally, and i just happened to find myself in a store, and i just happened to have my attention caught by a laptop that had a 17" wideview screen, 2 gig of ram, 160 gig hard, and it looked oh so adorable. Well I thought to myself a dual core amd t60 @ 2 ghz, yea, portable digital darkroom! I suprised the check out girl when i handed her 10 100 dollar bills. As much as i love my electronic gadgetry, I am not surrendering to the electronic e-banks. I want cash in my pockets, not plastic. Well anyway, the new laptop and i are getting along infamously. i am really pleased at the performance, especially cs3. so I guess i will start saving again for that big zoom lens

I have started recently using a disclaimer, because i have been finding my work posted in other communities. Problem with this is, I did not post the images on those other communities. I am really pissed off at photo.xanga com. They have no easy navigable control for reporting piracy. In-fact , i feel they have a blatant disrespect for my (our) property. If you read this journal i would suggest that you google your name and deviant alias. Granted this only catches the really stupid thief who is not passing your work off as theirs. More over, the stupid thief, in fact is ignorant. I believe they might feel as long as they mention the original artist, that they have the right to post the image in a photo blog. Nothing is farther from the truth. I (we) as the photographer own the copyright, unless we grant some sort of bs creative commons license your images may not be reprodoced, copied or manipulated. I sit here and ponder watermarking, and how horrible it is. I hate looking at a great image that is destroyed by a water mark. I used to think watermarks where egocentric. I however now realize that is the farthest from the truth. I think i am going to make a footer entry in my journal praying for bans on sites that do not allow I (we) an easy way to report to them that one or multiple of their users are posting copyright material with out permission or consent of the original authors, therefor, I will not ever use photo.xanga. It is my sincerest wish that any of you would also ban photo.xanga

P.S. If watermarks start appearing on my images, let me apologize now.

Well my old shooting partner and i are heading back to hocking hills tomorrow. Its been a really long time since we have done any tripping. I have been taking to heart a few things from other shooters here locally, namely the ones that are good enough to lecture at the local camera clubs. the one point is pre-visualization. So i have a an image captured in my minds eye, hopefully i can connect and put it into 0's and 1's

Tis the season, and for me it is awful hard to be jolly. this is the first christmas without my dad, and now my grandfather, who passed early this month. I am trying to be thankful for the things that i am rich with, Namely the total love of my daughter Wiley, the love of my Mother. I am working everyday, and buying gear every once and awhile. I have been In a relationship that seems to be balm for my soul. Laurrie appears to be the soul mate i have never had. There are times i am afraid to breath lest the perfectness of our match dissolve in a heated argument. I am content mostly. Lately i have started to feel inspired to shoot more. I am always amazed at seeing how everyone on the watch list grows in skill and ability. I guess i am Jolly enough this season, life goes on, and i dont want to be left behind! Merry Christmas everyone, And may you all have a happy year to come.

I came across a deal that i could not pass..... i purchased another new 30d from cord camera for 899 dollars.... I realize that the 40d is for sale.... to the tune of 1200 dollars for the body..... I wanted a spare body for doing weddings. I am shooting a wedding on Dec 1st and now i am feeling better about doing it. I have always had two bodies when i have shot weddings. Happy holiday's everyone.

I really have to say, she sucks. I just read an interesting bit of news regarding Elton John. Apparently he owns a lot of her prints, and apparently he let those prints go on exhibition, and apparently one of the images where taken by the police authorities because they where deemed obscene. So naturally my curiosity got the best of me and I googled Nan. I dont get, or, understand how such bad photography is being bought by major art exhibitors and museums. The images that i looked at where apparently hanging in the gugenheim (sp?) The one that pissed me off the most was a self portrait that was completely out of focus. the image was of Nan sitting on a bed. Now you could read the righting on the pillow case, yet i couldnt count her eyelashes... Absolute garbage i say.
I think i am going to buy my daughter a 40d and 10 2 gig cards and let have at it, then i will take and select the worst of those images, and mount and solicit prints to galleries.

First i want to apologize for neglecting my watch list, i have over 2700 images and 700 comments to look through and that will take some time. I have not actually done any shooting for a long while. I guess i kinda burned out. I have been working a lot, both at home and at me job. I actually have been more than a little distracted by a really cool woman as well. And now that the newness of a the romance is starting to settle into a routine i hopefully will get caught up here on DA. In other news, i bought a mamiya m645j large format film slr. What a really cool camera. I plan on buying a scanner next week so that i can shoot and process black and white film and scan the negatives. I also got a 67c enlarger with the deal on the camera. 300 dollars took em both home... Hopefully i havent pissed any of you off by my absence and lack of commenting, if i have, please except deepest apologies....

I bought a sekonic l-358 incidental light meter today. this thing was not cheap, however i figure i could wait for that 60mm prime macro lense. I have three mono lights and a rag tag collection of stands and umbrellas. Its time to get serious again, hence the purchase of this meter. What i like the most about it, is simply that it meters ambient light as well as strobes. when you meter a strobe, it also considers the ambient when it reads. i could go on for a month about what it will do, the question then would be, do i know what it means! I am starting to live with the loss of my Dad, and sometimes the grief is overwhelming. My one day at a time attitude is turning into more or less a one week at a time now. I guess its starting to become more bearable! Thanks everyone for all the support, and the well wishes.

If funerals could be said to be beautiful, dads was exceptional. I am really proud that the attendance for both the wake and the funeral was what it was. I think dad would of been blown away at the support. Here in northeast Ohio, its been cold On monday we laid dad to rest in the chatham community cemetery, literally across the street from their house. we had wind chill factors of -25 degrees F. There was a Marine Corp honor Guard. I want to acknowledge how impressed i was with those fellers. They where in their dress blues. i was bundled up for the weather, they where not. for 20 minutes they did not move during the service. Their discipline was incredible! Those boys did the corp proud on this day. Dad Loved the corp, He was a marine, when it was hard. 1956 to 1960. I miss dad terrible!

I lost my Dad yesterday to cancer. I am trying my best to cope and to hold it together for my family. Today was pure hell making funeral arrangements and tying up loose ends for mom. I want to forever dedicate anything i accomplish that is good to my dad. In some sense these words here have a feeling of permanence. I want them out there, because they pale in comparison as to what is in my heart. Through the last three months I have seen my father endure more pain then i thought was humanly possible. In the last three months I am convinced that Dad and I have Said all that needed said. His biggest wish, is that i am always good to Mom. I sincerely wish that anyone of you that reads this journal to know 1/10th of the peace and understanding and love that i know today. Always for DAD

Rest in peace Dad, i will see you when its my turn to come home.

I stopped in the local dunkin donuts as i always do every morning for my 99 cent refill of coffee. I start my work day off this way, and this morning i noticed an old feller bending down to pick up a penny. I would have done it for him but i was to far away to make the effort to reach him before he gotten bent over, and retrieved the penny. I watched him very patiently hobble over to a table and sit down. He had purchased a small coffee and a donut. I watched as his hands shaking trying to remove his donut from the bag that it came in. I felt a flood of compassion envade my private hell, and with the compassion i started to feel angry at the same time. I had hoped that i would be able to be here for dad when he reached this stage in life, I am angry because i am not going to witness my fathers older independence, I am not going to be able to share a coffee and newspaper with him. I am angry because i am mortal. I am angry because i am loosing dad, I am angry because i am witnessing the progression on a daily basis as his flame weakens. I am angry at being angry, most of all i am angry at cancer! They say that wich tends to hurt us makes us stronger, and i am angry at that bullshit. I cant imagine being any weaker than i am now, emotionally or physically, and sure cant imagine this process making me stronger.
Dads cancer is in his brain now, the doctors seem to think three months. Howver they have started radiation therapy, to "ease his pain". I am not smart enough to even pretend i understand the process of treatment, and that makes me angry. Christmass is 4 days away, i thought i would have the time for one last family portrait. I am concerned that dad is not going to be strong enough to endure that process. I should have done it thanksgiving time, and that makes me angry. For any that has taken time to read this rambling, take the time to tell, and more importantly show the ones that you love, how much they mean to you. Tomorrow is fickle and you might loose the opportunity to do so.

I want to send my heartfelt thanks to those that cared to comment on my fathers condition. I am beginning to see this world through a wider and wiser lense, and i am deeply touched.

Dad, is Dad. I am amazed at how outstanding his attitude is, He is actaully more concerned for how we will handle his passing. He is downright at peace and his faith is undescribable. Tomorrow will make a week since the biopsy proved that he has cancer, and that it is advanced. I have experienced this ordeal at first feeling as if this was a blow to me. (it is sorta) I felt as if a thief was taking what is mine in front of my face, and that i am powerless to prevent from it happening. And i had an epiphany, I suddenly realized it aint about me. Moreover its about accepting, loving, and carrying on. I know Dad wants to be able close his eyes knowing that we can and will carryon. I am determined to not only do this, but to do making a differance in my everyday endeavors. Its amazing to me how very much i have drawn strength and inspiration from Dad. I know that our time is limited, and i will make a differance with the time that we have left.

The news i was dreading and anxious about is finally in. I am so not wanting to understand or deal with it. I am honestly hoping that when i impart my thoughts and feelings in this journal that i can better cope. My father has been diagnosed with cancer. Yesterday, we went to the cleveland clinic to meet with the supposed worlds greatest doctors. The news is a hard pill to swallow and i am not liking it one bit. Dad has a tumor on his lung. According to the doctor the cancer is stage 4 and terminal. There is no mention of removing the tumor, only a biopsy friday morning to determine exactly how aggressive the cancer is. The Doctor has said that there are abnormalities in his lymphnodes, and that is the clearest sign of how far the cancer has progressed, That he is more concerned with a better quality of living for the time he has left. I am so furious that i can hardly contain my want to lash out and destroy things. I believe in God, and moreover i believe God has a plan. But faith is a funny ficle thing. I am trying to be strong, but find that i have to take time outs to hide the tears that i thought i had already cried out. I hear dad's quite cough that he tries so hard to hide and contain, and its as if i get shocked everytime he coughs. I find that i have a hard time talking to anyone about how i am feeling, I guess i am in totall denial. There was no preamble, one day dad is fine with a slight cough, the next day he is terminal. I just dont understand. If there ever was a saint that walked on Gods earth, its dad. I have nothing but love and respect for this man. Dad is not my biological father, But i dont think any man could have loved my mother, sister, and I more. I am probably going to take a long while before i post anything again. At this point i have little enought interest in anything.

WARNING THIS COULD BE LONG!

First the fortune cookie! I never have ever taken seriously a fortune cookie. My lucky numbers where not even close in the lottery drawings, and i have no need for conversationl chinese. However, I like to make the most of my weekends when i have Wiley, and occaisionally we do chinese. About 6 months ago, I got an incrediable fortune message that kinda rang my bell. "how can you have a beautiful ending, with out making beautiful mistakes" Wiley is proof of that message and while cleaning out my wallet i found my saved fortune. I intend to carry this with me all of my days!

Inflection

Having quantified my list of beautiful mistakes i realize that there is still yet something missing in my life. It seems in my utopian perfect version of the way my life should be, that the missing element is companionship. So here i am, sitting on a bar stool most of the last 3 weeks witnessing that amongst friends and others, and numbing the emptiness in beer and yukon. My wit is always quick with a wise crack that most find entertaining. The laughter that i contribute is shallow and empty, but it lights up those around me. I trully enjoy my friends. Substanance for the void that is starting to overpower, and corrupt my resolve and will, is simply want and desire. God how i hate this, as it usually is the emotions that make me reckless. If you sit on any given bar stool long enough you develop relationships with other patrons that are looking for the same thing as yourself. wich leads me into my empathic portion of this blog!

Empathy

When i speak with one of my favorite members of the opposite sex and discover that we have very much in common, and hear her complain about how lonely she is, and how all she wants is to be held, etc etc. I pretty much feel that pain, and embrace it as my own. When in a alchol induced state, we share our mutual pain, and a moment of intimacy that resulted in the purest form of desire, the desire to be held and so we held each other all night, And for a brief moment all was right with my world. That moment was fleeting and gone before it had a chance to materialize! But for a moment i was content, This isnt about feeling sorry for myself but rather trying to vent some of my frustration, and make sense of my all to human condition! A condition i have suppressed since my divorce 10 years ago. Simply it hurts to want. If i chop down my waves, i dont get as high and dont fall as far before the next wave comes allowing my days to pass tolerably by. Occaisionly the rogue wave gets thru and kicks my ass!
I have worked so terribly hard to rebuild and i am really tired.

well, i have not shot anything really in about three weeks. I have been lost, and going thru the motions. Well today i went to the ballon affair in revenna ohio. I took my lil Girl. and we had a blast. We met my shooting partner there and we all three shot the hot air balloons.... I get home to check my images and somehow my dumb ass card is corrupted... i cant retrieve any of the image files. There is something on the damb card that is taking up 800Mb of info! (the lost images) but i cant recover them. I am so totally bent at the moment.

A huge hug for who persisted with encouragement and effort to find a utility to recover my lost images. Tracy I so Appreciate your efforts. I ended up using a program cald baddisk pro. My shooting buddy actually had this software and casually let me in on the secret after about a 30 minute rant during a phone call lastnight! Since he owned the software, he allowed me to use his laptop to recover my images! Thanks Kevin! I feel better now

This thumb is an image of one of my life long best friends return to the states from a tour of duty in the gulf. My friend is one of the finest men i know.... He loves his kids, he loves his country, and he loves his job as a state trooper. The following commentary is not intended to be political

Duty calls too many young men away from their families. I am not smart enough to even pretend i understand why these men are put into harms way. What i am smart enough to comprehend is the raw emotion of a homecoming. His children did not know that their dad was coming home. Their uncle and i Played a really mean trick on them by Hiding them while their dad hid in the boat behind them.
When dad jumped out of the boat the kids where in shock. Literaly it took them about a minute to register Dad! The whole scene was beyond emotional. I cried like a baby, and immediately thanked god for never having to be standing in my friends shoes. I cried like a baby 20 years ago when my best friend left for basic training. My friend is a poster child for hero. I am now worried about his transition back into civilian life. He is changed! as if he cant ever let his guard down. I dont think there is a way to quantify the differance, its subtle yet so overpowering. I pray for peace and healing!

this is an unmolested image @ 400iso.... i only resized it.....
I bought a 30d today to replaced my pos rebel that died. i have since learned the rebel has mirror failure, wich supposedly i can have fixed for 100 dollars... i plan on fixing it and having it converted to I.R.

i did not have a whole lot of opportunity to shoot after purchasing this new camera, but i do have a few impressions from what little i used it.

boot time is simply wow
image noise levels are phenominally non existant
this camera does not play when saving files, its fast
solid feel in my hands

I hate my camera

I wish that i could find a digital camera built like my F-1 that wouldnt cost me my kidney! My Rebel is 3 years old, and i have tripped the shutter about 40,000 times. The camera itself is an entry level Dslr. 3 years ago the other choices where in the 3,000 dollar price range. My Camera is dead! I believe that the rebel was just worn out, as i shot nearly everyday!. I was shooting a pig roast about a week ago, and it started acting goofy. It kept given me hate codes ERR 99 wich is canons catch all error code. To make the long story short, i do every recomended procedure! when i took the lense off, a small brass bushing fell out! The camera is out of warranty, OOH so sorry!

The lesson relearned here is a simple one! you get what you pay for, untill i bought my F-1 in 1982, i had worn out 2 ae-1's and 2 A-1's.

I still have the f-1, i was wanting to keep it for when my daughter comes of age to teach herr how to process and print film.

I am thinking that ebay is where the F-1 is going. I need to raise 1500 dollars to buy the canon 30d. I am also thinking about a print account, and i think plasma and sperm donations are around the corner. I have been without the camera now for almost a week... this sucks bad

I tried to make a journal entry last week! instead of my journal, i got some one elses in place... wich really sucked as i spent an hour with the journal and redoing the journal because the first one got messed up...Kudos to the support team as they replied within 24 hours informing they had a server issue, and that everything is normal again.... i just did not have the time to redo my journal! I am really blown away! I get a note today from explaining that one of my images was featured on [link] deviouslyartistic.com I must say that i am really honored and flattered!

On a more serious note, there are a few things beginning to bug me lately. mostly the banning of Desertblu. I am not sure of the circumstances other than speculation, However i can not imagine this happening. Deb was and is a intelligent and thoughtfull woman who could find the silver lining in a tornado.
Deb, i sincerely miss you allready! Secondly after reading Pm-grafics journal about one of his images getting ripped and getting a daily deviation is absolutely mind boggling. Makes me wonder if i am going to have to start watermarking all of my work, and worse, looking at other's fine images through watermarks.
again i find myself out of time and spread to thin. As a result i have yet again been lax in responding to comments and deviations on my watch. I apologize to everyone....

Well i wish i had stories to tell as to where i have been, and why i havent been posting or commenting....the truth of the matter simply, i havent had time to shoot! as far as keeping up with my watch list... i apologize for my lacking there.

One thing of interest. I have experienced my first ever migrain headache...
two weeks to get rid of the darn thing... i was out of work for a week, and medicated for a week.... apparently steroids have beatin the headache into submission as i have now gone almost a week with out a headache! and i it seems i am catching a cold... wich btw, i can understand and deal with....

Today i am 40 years old! i can remember thinking in grade school in the late 70's what the world would be like in the 2000's I remember gasoline then costing 65 cents a gallon, today its 2.49! then the local store sold penny candy, today its 20 cents for the same tootsie roll. I can remember never locking the doors to our house, and today would consider it insane to do so. For the most part, today has been anti climatic. I woke this morning thinking that my life is more than half over, and yet i have lived far longer than i would of imagined when i was 20 years old.... Strangly, i also woke thinking how nice it would be to have son! And i also remembered rather quickly all of the dirty diapers and the expense of formula for my daughter. 30years ago a brand new bicycle made me the happiest guy on earth, Today a phone call from my little girl wishing me a happy birthday, and telling me how much she loves me, and a little cake and ice cream shared with my mother and sister, and her two children, was worth more than anything i have ever owned! Suddenly i realize just how rich i am!

Just wanted to take a few minutes to update the journal! I am fine, just busy busy busy. I havent had the chance shoot much as of late. I had a phone call from a woman tonight that i fell in love with 8 years ago! i am almost walking on a cloud! so i am rather exited. I am hoping to do some more shooting soon. Just a few thoughts on My new lense! I purchased a promaster 70-300 telezoom with 1:2 macro. Saturday i went to the camera store with my 300d intending on buying canon glass. So i had the salesmans undevided attention for about an hour. The lense that i really wanted was the canon 70-300 usm/is. The salesman informed me that he did not have it instock and that i would have to wait till tues or wed for his shipment to come in. I am not very patient when i have cash burning holes in my pockets so he showed me the cheaper canon 70-300 usm. I mounted the lense on the camera, and it would not focus! ( bad taste immediately) so the sales guy wanted to try the same lense on one of his 300d bodies. I asked what else he had, as this experience has already turned negative for the canon glass. He then showed me this promaster. This lense feels more rugged, and better built than the cheapy canon, and was only 199 us dollars. Well i had planned on spending 450 dollars for the usm/is canon, and really would not have waited till tuesday or wednesday. I am actually quite pleased with the how fast this promaster does focus, and extremely pleased at how sharp the lense is... I really wanted the 450 dollar canon usm/is, but i am not willing to complain about this lense after the first day!

Well, i have gotten the first day off my back! It really kinda sucked as i had to endure 6 hours of safety videos that i have already seen from when i worked in the steel mill, apparently the safety director was also employed at the same mill i was, and he kinda borrowed the videos... I can say that i got a little tour of some of the pumping stations and actually learned something! (allways a good day when you can learn something new)

This new license agreement that DA wants us to agree to is looking kinda dangerous in the fact that (if i understand it correctly) DA can use our images, sell our images, change and modify our images Royalty free! What i am getting at is that they can print and sell the images to third party sites in the promotion of This site.....

I am only half awake and got a note from steelangel about this! this agreement is retroactive and covers all material already posted! I am going to get some coffee and print this agreement to really understand what its driving at! However initially, i think i am going to be leaving DA! my issues are not the use of my images to promote DA, but that by agreeing to license DA has the right to sell my art or do what it sees fit with it! and that is not acceptable!

This was a great community, and i am already starting to feel the pang of loss!

This is by no means is intended to be a political journal entry! I seldom will voice my opinions as they really dont mean a damb thing! However i feel like pontificating! In this sometimes great country that i live in, Starving a dog to death is punishable by time in jail and fines! To neglect or starve a dog is considered inhumane! And to some, Killing, Hurting or neglicting an animal is so objectionable that they would as soon see you shot for it!
I am not an extremist in views, i am middle of the road. a little bit of this and a little of that is never bad. I have to take notice and object to what is going on in florida. Yes the shiavo case. I do not no where i stand as far as the life support thing goes, that debate is for those that are far brighter than I. What i am finding reprehensible is the fact that this woman is being tortured and neglected. for 10 days now she has been denied any nourishment! Inmates on death row will leave this world easyer and more dignified then Mrs Shiavo! The medical proffessionals have maintained this womans life for over decade. She was not on life support just a feeding tube! And i am having a personal struggle trying come to grips with the reality of starving a woman to death! Be it known if i ever am in this situation, and my parents survive me, the choice to end my life shall be theirs and theirs alone.

Apparently this image winter sentinel was selected as the hot view of the day at dcview the link = [link] if you check out this website you will need to find the march hot views, its in the third block from the left just below the first larger full page block.... i was selected as the hot view for march 10, 05 What really amazes me, is that i have never, ever been on this site before! However they do give me the credit of having shot the image, and when you click the image it bounces you to photos of the year, where i enter the competitions there on a regular basis...

I am just floored by this...

Apparently canon has redesigned the rebel 300d! the new 350d will be an 8mp sensor! and the camera will still be plastic! smaller also and lighter see link for a review [link]

apparently canon is planning a release cost at around 899 us dollars... as far as i am concerned my money is still on the 20d or maybe nikons answer! i am going to waite awhile this time!

Well i have been making steady progress on my renovation project for the last week!

from last week today

I have completely replaced the ceiling joist with new larger ones. I have hung the drywall and I have installed my fireplace mantle lighting, and a celing fan.

I apologize for not getting to all the deviations on my watch, allthough i do try to comment on at least one if i get multiples from people on my watch! and i am way behind on comments allso! so Blame my barn its been taking all of my time!

O.k. Now that i have had a chance to catch up on all of the dev's on my watch and all of awsome comments that i have recieved on a whole, i thought i would check out the febuary UA feature. I am honestly amazed that was picked by moonbeam13 [link] as one of her choices! I honestly did not like the shot all that much personall, but Looking at all of these images that where featured is great company to be featured with as the photography is awsome! I am also going to shoot a coke can tonight for a challenge competion at poty. i have a really cool ideal as to what i want, i am just hoping i can pull off what i am seeing in my minds eye!
