I'm not the only one pissed about this. I've seen it in other peoples' journals (like budgie's -> [link]). DeviantART has become a site much like Photobucket where everybody and their dog can post whatever random crap they feel like. In the beginning, DA was against any unoriginal content. No scans, screenshots, screenshot collages, doll generators, etc. Nothing but original artwork. It's supposed to be an ART site so that's how it should be, right? Well, apparently not anymore. DA changed the rules so that those screenshots and doll generator images can be shown right along side ORIGINAL artwork with some actual EFFORT AND TIME gone into it. It may be in the scraps section, but it's still allowed on the site. And in the future, even more junk like that might be allowed. Lazy people will be able to post copyrighted things and be praised for it, overshadowing the people who actually make art. How fair is that?

Plus, what about the stuff that IS orginal but has offensive content? Every day when I scan through the popular submissions, I see whole butt load of hard core, vulgar, smut that can be viewed by everyone, even little kids. Some of it isn't even remotely artistic, just porn disguised as art (which is a matter of opinion, I suppose, but whatever). Uh...what the hell happened to the mature content warnings? Why isn't this stuff being controlled, put in a seperate area on the site? Sure, you can go into your profile and check the box. Whoopie. But you don't need an account to browse. Any six-year-old kid can get their fill of porno pics via DA. Whatdafxupwithdat?

To sum up my point: it's really very sad that a once great art site is now going to crap.

I watched the first episode of D.Gray-man and all I can say is...HELLZ YEAH! It's so cool. And the opening/ending songs are pretty awesome. Allen-kun's voice is a little younger than I imagined but it's all good. It gives him that cute want-to-hug-him effect. Kanda and Rabi are teh sekcy, too (as they should be).

Death Note, on the other hand, I keep hearing so much about how cool it is but I haven't seen it yet. *dies* I tried downloading the raw from a link someone posted on Gaia but it didn't work for some reason. I guess I'll just have to wait until the subbed version comes out to see its lovely-ness. I wanna see it so much. T__T

On a side note: I just noticed the 'Listening to', 'Reading', 'Watching', etc. thing at the bottom of the journal page. When did that get there? Does everyone have that now? If so, w00t. But my journals will be a lot smaller now. *pouts*

Apparently one of the people I've devwatched for a very long time decided he's going to leave DA. I don't know if he's really leaving for good because, well, to be honest from what I've read in previous journal entries, he can be sort of a drama queen. BUT I do see why he'd want to leave. Some people consider him a "popular" artist and they kiss his ass and act like he's the second coming in the hopes that it will make them more "popular" ("ZOMGBBQ I WERSHIP UR ARTZ PLZ AUTOGRAPH MAH BABY!!!!121121~OH YEA N COULD U DEVWATCH ME N VISIT MAH SITE???"). Other people decide that since he's a "popular" artist and they're not, they need to make themselves feel better by telling him why his art sucks and how it's overrated ("UR ARTZ IZNT DAT GEWD!!2 UR OVERRATED N I DONT NO Y PPL LYK U. I COULD DO SO MUCH BETER!@"). It's just an endless cycle of stupidity. Why would ANYONE want to put up with that crap? I know I wouldn't. And yet every day, many "popular" artists are pelted with ass-kissing, disgruntled ego maniacs. It's all because everyone wants to feel good about themselves. But, come on people, doing idiotic things like that isn't the way to get your kudos. Same with art thieving- woah, don't even get me started on that. If you want to boost your self-esteem, DON'T do it on DA (I mean, it's an art website..the rest of the world could care less who's "popular" on it). Kissing up, flaming, and stealing art just so people will comment you, may make you feel special for a split second but it'll just hurt you in the end. It really doesn't help anyone. Instead of kissing up, I suggest posting honest comments that make the artist fell good, not overwhelmed or scared. Instead of telling someone their art sucks and is overrated, try constructive critisizm. The artist can improve from suggestions and you can feel good that you helped someone out. As for art thieving, STOP TAKING FROM OTHER PEOPLE AND PRACTICE YOUR OWN ART SKILLS. You may think that's stupid advice since everyone says that. Well, everyone says that because it's true. Nobody is magically good at drawing from birth. You have to work at it, just like everything else. You won't get fabulous overnight, so patience is the best thing. Patience, practice, and dedication. If you want to get good, work until you are.

Um, in other news, I want another episode of .hack//Roots to come out. I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Will Shino stop hitting on Haseo (that biotch hahaha)? What's Tabby's big secrect? Is Tri-Edge going to show himself/itself/whatever? And will Ovan EVER return (or will Shino have to go to to his house and make him come back whether he likes it or not?)? Wow..this is beginning to sound like one of those old super hero comics. I finished reading The DaVinci Code and it was kind of disappointing. A lot of it was really predictable. Plus a lot of Dan Brown's history is screwed up. But I guess I can't expect it to be historically acurate considering it's fiction. (I can't believe people actually think what it says in the book is true)

Fate/Stay Night ending was disappointing, too. Everything built up to the climax of the end and then it was just like...okay, that's it? Maybe I just hate endings in general but I just didn't like it at all. I HATED Shirou and Saber's romance. IT WAS STUPID. But Saber is cool, Shirou is not.

2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? She is but she's sort of an outcast, doesn't really have friends.

Either I suck really bad at drawing fan art or people hate me. I'm guessing people hate me. Why? I don't know. The contest was not supposed to be judged by favorites but..well...a contest is judged by what entry is the best (aka the judge's favorite). Yeah, let's face it, I'm a sore loser. But art is the only thing I'm really competitive about. Basketball, I could care less. Schoolwork, ha! Drawing, though, really gets to me. Most people draw because they're emo but I'm emo because I draw. Sad...

Christmas brought new Sakura micron pens (from my parents) in a variety of sizes. Yay! And new paper which is lovely, too. But...never fear! Something good did happen while snow was falling on my head! I found the site of a Japanese CG artist called KAGAYA and his art is...AMAZING. Flippin' amazing. He does a lot of fantasy and SciFi stuff (which I love). It's so detailed and beautiful. Definitely something everyone should see. This is the link: [link] . It's in Japanese but don't be afraid. To see the art, click on the links under the big 'KAGAYA' sign (they have little flashy jewel things next to them). The names of the galleries are underneath in English.

In other news, the last three wallpapers I've submitted on Minitokyo have been deleted. What. The. Crap. And they send me an automated message which says "We only accept wallpapers where the members make a true effort to submit quality works for critiques and advice." BULL. SHIT. I sometimes spend hours on my walls, trying to make a good background and getting a decent extraction, and if that isn't "true effort" I don't know what is. Sorry my walls aren't perfect like all the popular and "good" wallpaper artists. >_>
