On January 8, 2007, Paramount Pictures' MTV Films and Nickelodeon Movies announced that they have signed M. Night Shyamalan to write, direct and produce a trilogy of live-action films based on the series; the first of these films will encompass the main characters' adventures in Book One.[58] The film was in a dispute with James Cameron's film Avatar regarding title ownership,[59] which resulted in the film being titled The Last Airbender. It is set for release on July 2, 2010.[60] Shyamalan was attracted to the series because of its inspiring martial arts and spiritual theme,[61] after being introduced to the program by his children. Filming will begin in March 2009 and take place in Philadelphia and Greenland. Producer Frank Marshall stated the film may be moved to later in 2010 or even to early 2011, and that some filming could happen in the Far East.[62]

According to an interview with the co-creators in SFX Magazine, Shyamalan came across Avatar when his daughter wanted to be Katara for Halloween. Intrigued, Shyamalan researched and watched the series with his family. "Watching Avatar has become a family event in my house ... so we are looking forward to how the story develops in season three," said Shyamalan. "Once I saw the amazing world that Mike and Bryan created, I knew it would make a great feature film."[63]

Avatar co-creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have come forward to voice their opinion within an interview regarding M. Night Shyamalan writing, directing and producing the film. The two displayed much enthusiasm over Shyamalan's decision for the adaptation, stating that they admire his work and, in turn, he respects their material.[64] M. Night Shyamalan said he will write the second film while preparing to shoot the first.[65] James Newton Howard, who has composed all of Shyamalan's films since The Sixth Sense, will compose The Last Airbender.[66]

Entertainment Weekly reported Shyamalan offered the roles of Aang to karate-trained Texan Noah Ringer; Sokka to Jackson Rathbone (Twilight); Katara to Nicola Peltz (Deck the Halls); and Zuko to Jesse McCartney.[67] The hiring of white actors triggered negative fan reaction marked by accusations of racism and a letter-writing campaign.[68] Rathbone dismissed the complaints, saying "I think it's one of those things where I pull my hair up, shave the sides, and I definitely need a tan. It's one of those things where, hopefully, the audience will suspend disbelief a little bit."[69]

Day 1:_{-notice the dodgy editing of my last entry...-}

We Arrived At Like 1:00AM.
And Didn't Get To The Hotel Until Like 3:00AM.
Where I Practically Crashed And Died.

Actually, I Really Wanted To Draw, But There Was A Lack Of An ArtBook.

We Did Nothing Until Halfway Through The Day 'Coz We Had To Book Plane Tickets To Xi'an _{Which My Silly Daddy Did Not Do}.

Talented, Ne?!

Then We Went Out To Lunch.

We Ended Up In JieFangBei, Which Is A Fun-Filled, Happy Making Mall That I Now Loves.
And Spent The Rest Of The Day There, Until, Once More, I Crashed And Wanted An ArtBook.

Day 2:

After Breakfast And All The Other Stuff People Usually Do In The Morning, We Went Down To A Port On The Yangtze River... By Bus.

_{I Dislike Buses In China. But This On Was Airconditioned, And There Weren't Very Many People On It So It Was Okay.}
And Then Went On A Boat Ride Up And Down The River... The Cheapest One.

Which Was Okay, But ChongQing Is Very Smoggy...

I Would Be Such A Pretty Place If They Cleaned It Up A Bit.
From The Boat, We Saw These Amazing Old-Fashioned Buildings, So We Walked up There.

They Turned Out To Be A Huge Complex Known As "Foreign Brand Street", Which Is Actually Like 11 Stories High And Full Of Stalls And Shops!!
It's Typically For Foreigners, Although No-one There Seems To Be Able To Speak English, But Is The Most Bestest Shopping Place Ever!!

It Is My Favourite Place Inside The City Of ChongQing ('Coz There Are Lots Of Pretty Places Outside The City, But I Didn't Get To Go).

After Spending The Day There, And Buying A Prettiful LeSportsac Bag _{I LOVE Them Sooo Much!!!} We Went Back To JieFangBei For Dinner, And To Finish Looking Around.
And I Bought An ArtBook!!

Which Was Extremely Happy Making.
It Is So Cute!! With A Zebra On It.
I Will Post A Pictue When I Get Back. _{'Coz I Am That Lame.}

Day 3:

We Did Practically Nothing...

First, We Went To The "People's Square", Which Was Pretty Boring. _{Even To Mum And Dad, Not To Mention My Little Sister...}
So Then We Went Back To The "Foreign Brand Street" Where We Bought Little Useless Things 'Coz We Felt Like It.

And That Was Our Day...

Other:

OMG!! People Drive Cars So Crazy In ChongQing.
I Quite Like It.
They Do The Whole Weaving In And Out Of Lanes And Stuff.
But At A Not-So-Fast Speed, Although It Feels Fast 'Coz Of All The Cars.

But Crossing The Road Is Seriously Hard.
No-one Is Scared Of The Cars And Just Steps Out Onto The Road!!

I'm Not That Bad Or Scared, But My Parents Are Convinced I'm Going To Get Myself Killed. _{-rolls eyes-}
