This is mostly just a journal entry so that I'm able to say that I posted a journal in 2008..so cheap, i know. A journal a year keeps the...can't really think of anything atm.

Random observation : Wow i've been on DA for 3y already,

I have been freshly motivated to start drawing, so 2009 will probably go better than the picture less 2008.

My apologies for only submitting 1 measly submission in 2007, procrastination is evil. Maybe if I draw more, I'll have more people commenting and more watchers

Lets see...in September I started a new job as a web developer...which after 3 months is still quite hectic because i have to learn everything about web development on the fly.

Otherwise, after sunburn and semi seasickness I became a registered advanced open water diver last week, which means that I'm one step closer to finding Atlantis. Being on a rubberduck on stormy sea is no fun.

Yay, Cape Town is about to start suffering from overcrowded malls and roads as the inlanders make their way down to the coast for Christmas holidays. Internet shopping ftw.

Back to art, maybe i'll try to submit 2 for 2008

Ever since the DA upgrade, I've been having the problem where I can't see any comments made on my main page for at least 2 weeks. After 2 weeks they just magically pop up and I'm flooded with a sea of comments. So if you made a comment on my front page and you aren't getting a reply...sorry, nope I'm not ignoring you, it's just that I can't see your comment. However, I am notified of comments that are replies on existing ones, so rather reply to an existing comment than post a new one.

Arrr shiver me timbers! Bring me one noggin of rum, now, won't you, matey.

Yesterday was "Talk like a Pirate day"... so if you didn't know...well you've missed it mwuhaha!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DA!!!!!!

Kudos to DA for the redesign, it still has a lot of bugs but it's nice. I know how much effort it takes to do this kind of thing *looks at [link]*, it's not easy to get 100% right on release when working on a tight schedule. So yeah, respect to DA's webmonkeys!

In other news, I've been waiting for nearly 4 months for Telkom to install my adsl and still nothing. I'd have thought that given their insatiable love for money and overcharging customers, they would want to exploit me as well. I've given up for now, things should start looking better soon when Telkom's monopoly comes to an end before the end of this year.

In the words of Telkom's CEO Papi Molotsane "It is painful to look at money sitting there and not being exploited" after speaking about the adsl installation backlog of over 50 000 lines.

no work for me tomorrow, public holiday time again!

Down here in Cape Town SA, our electricity provider (Eskom) who has a monopoly on electricity, has been experiencing problems at the nuclear power plant here. The plant is falling apart because of what is probably poor maintenance, incompetency and failure to plan, because of this they are about 500mW short on power and need to alternately cut off certain areas of the power grid for 3 - 4 hour shifts called "load shedding" to avoid a wide-scale blackout.

Yesterday my home got cut off in the morning for 4 hours, then again in the afternoon for 4 hours, then again at night for 4 hours. This morning I got cut off for another 4 hours, at home and work. This has been going on since Monday. Needless to say, it's no fun. You don't realize how much you take something like electricity for granted until you suddenly lose it.

What makes it even worse is that all the gas is getting sold out, and the petroleum industry announced they they might have a shortage of fuel by Friday (which has already happened in December). Generators are getting sold out as well. The situation over here is truly bad.

Also, the power failures resets my VCR while i'm at work, which is making me miss the climax of the current Yu-Gi-Oh! arc... Now i don't get to see Marik duel Yami. -_-

I need some hamsters and hamster wheels...
